There are early day and late (4pm) slots available which is great! The waiting room is clean and quiet. The staff have been friendly and personable. My first appointment was for a treadmill stress test. The tech was so funny and walked me through the process. The second visit was for an echocardiogram. The tech offered me a blanket during the exam which really helped calm me so much that I almost fell asleep. :)

The building is shared by multiple offices, so the parking lot is always busy but most of the time it's pretty easy to find a space near the entrance. When I checked in their office, there was only one other person waiting in the waiting room and Dr. Tomcho's assistant called me into the exam room almost immediately, it took me a little by surprise because I even arrived early for my appointment. The office is always orderly and neat; the atmosphere is relaxed and his staff is always super-nice and professional, they make my visit comfortable and puts me at ease.

The staff has been great and if they are running behind they do call and let you know. I have not had any problems during my follow up appointments. Huh! Trying to get an appointment? Simply impossible!…read moreAfter hours on multiple holds, I drive down to the South end of town. Nope. Not even allowed a walk in because I have Medicare and was in an auto accident. I'm not yet decided on an attorney or if I need one. I don't know if there's anything I need other than an MRI and a "you're fine". But I'm a complex previous surgery now re-injured. So yeah, I need to be seen. --I'm fine seeing a PA with experience who works closely with an excellent surgeon. The surgeon I knew as kind and competent. I would not let another touch my shoulder. !!Just order an MRI so I know where I am with this new injury. -- I need to be seen, as the ER doctor has referred me to my previous orthopedic doc who happens to work with Swift Institute. But at this point, I'm alarmed. Swift is set up to be sure the money flows w/out a hitch. The doctors want this money flowing and they want bodies on the table. This is how the sausage here is made. I can understand that a surgeon just wants to do surgery (and get paid top $$). -- To Have patients heavily screened and -- only see the surgical candidate prior to scheduling any surgery. And the move on to the next case. The more the merrier. In this way a doctor can hone their skills without actually having to hardly see the client/patient. Beauty! After years of this behavior, you have a surgeon that has 'seen it all' done it all knows it all. I'm not sure what you have is an -actual doctor surgeon. It's more like you have a robot surgeon (kept in a closet that you feed coins into). I do not plan to return. I need to get calls returned. I need respect. Medicare pays for diagnosis. The idea that I must sign saying I'm responsible for the bill if Medicare hassles them about the billing? Finally, on my way home, I dropped by the other Swift office. I think that there I got the truth. They are telling me that they will not bill Medicare. They refuse to bill Medicare --for even diagnostics. Because Medicare has a history of denying auto accident claims. They Never Bill Medicare in an auto accident event. Not even if you agree to pay if the claim is denied. Catch 22, it will never get billed. So it'll never get paid. Because they will not bill. One wonders how a claim is denied if it's never billed. But: the fact remains. Medicare pays for diagnostics after auto accidents. Period. They don't pay for --treatment-- until auto insurance is exhausted. Apparent they don't know how to properly bill Medicare. ? More likely they don't like what Medicare pays them.

Last July 2025 I fell down my stairs and broke my left hip, I had to go to the emergency room and a doctor over at Swift Institute was on the Emergency side of it, and replaced my hip with a few screws. Well, the screws were coming out as I walked, so I saw Dr. Winkle back at great basin, and he said you're gonna have to have your hip totally replaced, as the screws are poking out.! I ended up in the hospital a few days after surgery with a stomach problem, and he actually came by to see me, and it had nothing to do with my hip, he just wanted to make sure I was OK! Absolutely incredible Dr, I highly recommend him and any doctor at Great Basin Orthopedics! The best! I needed a nausea medicine, and unbeknownst to Dr. Winkle the medicine he gave me for nausea also helped the stomach problem I was having so I could eat again, no other doctor has ever prescribed that medicine for me and I get these stomach issues a lot, we were really impressed! Thanks Dr Winkel!! I cannot believe how well I am doing, love my new life!!
