I was told by my plumber that these guys were good, and in an emergency situation I used them. They showed up and ripped out half of my bathroom, drywall and then went down to the main floor and tore out chunks of the ceiling. They put a fan in for 3 days came back and said they would call the next day. Took 3 weeks to hear back from them after calling and emailing. They had no problem getting ahold of our insurance and estimating a giant amount of money to fix the bathroom. Which was approved. I asked them for a time frame of fixing and they said they couldn't give me one until they were paid. They told me materials, especially tile could take awhile to get here, but I couldn't order until they got paid. Our insurance guy sent the check directly to us. And as soon as that was known by them they called daily to find out if it came and if we could sign the check and give them the full amount. They wouldn't even put me on the schedule still or give me a time frame. They wanted the whole check up front. Shady! I finally got the check and I put it in my account. I got another professional bid by a man that I know personally and know his work and it is high end. He bid 1/3 of the cost to do my bathroom. AND he told me a date he will be here. I have had calls every day in a row to collect payment, it's been 5 days and 2 have been the weekend and the check had to clear my account. Today they called and threatened to send me to collections tomorrow. It's been DAYS, not weeks or months. For 4 hours of tearing out a bit of tile and drywall and placing fans and leaving them it was over $3k. Rip off! DO NOT USE! read more

Utah Disaster Restoration was recommended to us by our plumber to repair some damage from a leaking bathtub. They were prompt and communicated well what time they'd be arriving, I'll give them that. I was disappointed by how poorly they communicated costs for what would need to be done to repair damage and how long it might take. We requested an estimate from them a few times and were told that they couldn't give us one until they knew how much damage there was (i think they could have given us a worst and best case scenario quote). We also requested a receipt for payment since we paid by check and still haven't received one even though we paid 1.5 weeks ago, and the check has already cleared. read more

Run, don't walk, from these guys. They did come and mitigate the water damage, and after I paid for that, they will not work with my insurance company to sort out the difference in their estimates. They took the cash off the top and left me out to dry! read more

GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!!!! They are not preferred by insurance companies for a reason! These guys took on a job that was supposed to take 6 weeks and took over 6 months. John made sure to let us know that he went to church and that his bishop recommended him. Once the got the job he was condescending, shady and rude. He always as an excuse for why he was behind on the job and not once took responsibility. His lackey Jeff was incompetent and sloppy. They got paint every where and lied about a few things. They also took things from my house and scratched my walls. They even lied to our insurance adjuster about what was broken and even broke things to try to get extra money. I later found out that he has done this to a lot of people and has made a career of finding was to scam people. read more

This company is a scam and so are the bulk of the subcontractors they work with. Yes, the initial response is good and it is during the initial response that you will be asked to fill out a customer satisfaction survey and sign a contact that fails to provide an accurate estimate of repair costs. UDRS informed me that the mitigation and repair would take eight weeks and eventually quoted me about $20,000. Five months later the project was still incomplete and the cost to me had more than doubled. One of UDRS own subcontractors confirmed that UDRS had increased the cost of the subcontractors work by five times. Additionally, they want you to leave a house key in a key box for them. There was only one time I was not at home while UDRS were "working" there and they stole an item from my home. Instead of painting a damaged wall they painted the damaged portion of the wall and billed me for the whole wall. They also did additional damage to my home that they refused to be responsible for. You can do better, much better. read more

John came out at 10:00 pm on a Friday night to help us after a frozen pipe burst and flooded our downstairs bedroom. He was thorough, professional and honest and took care of everything for us. What could have been a horrible experience became manageable because of him. read more

They were dishonest and unprofessional. We had flooding from a line that had disconnected from the ice maker on the back of the fridge. We got Ut Disaster Rest. Svcs to help us clean up. The first bad impression these guys made was when I asked what code number they would like for the front door keypad. The guy said, "6969." I looked at him and said, "Really? Do ya think that's professional?" He smiled and said, "Well that's what our bosses always use." After 3 days of blowers and heat, their moisture readings of the hardwood floor were still high. They said that there's probably a sheet of plastic beneath the hardwood so it may never get dry enough causing big potential for curling and mold so they wanted replace the floor - but not just the water damaged floor, the entire upstairs connected floor because it's too difficult to match the wood. I told them I'd think about it. The next day I called Liberty Restoration for a second opinion. All their moisture readings were lower; they said there was no plastic sheet because if there were you'd be able to see its blue edges sticking out where the baseboards were removed; and, since our basement was unfinished, the floor would easily finish drying in a few days. They also said they would have run blowers for 4 days instead of 3. It is now a year later and the floor is dry and looks fine. Thanks to Liberty's honesty, we avoided weeks of unnecessary, disruptive floor replacement and had less insurance hassles to deal with. read more

There is no professional certification for such work. One should really question if you can do the work yourself. I did, but they hound you and make you feel as though you can't. The main problem is that our plumber pressed and pressed and pressed that we use Utah Disaster Restoration Services. Then UDRS used the marketing ploy: "we're like family because you were referred from the plumber who is a friend of ours." Clearly, I was "referred" not out of genuine concern, but for a kick back. We had a small leak involving 1 wall and needed to cut 3 small pieces out to dry everything. They quoted us $1,550 to take out 3 small pieces of sheet rock and dry the area. Then we would have to pay additionally to hire someone to replace the sheet rock, texture, and paint. You pay extra for a tarp to cover the area with 2 sticks that constantly fall down and painters tape that comes off after the first 5 minutes. Even if you're not using insurance, you pretty much pay for the cost of the work involved in dealing with insurance companies. They drop the price $100 if you don't use insurance. I think anyone can do this kind of work on their own! I wish i did. They don't even do the replacement work themselves. They hire out for it and get a kick back. Do yourself a favor and hire your own tradesmen. No reason to pay a middle man. read more

So first off let me start by saying I have never felt compelled to write a review about a business good or bad, ever!!! until I hired Utah Disaster Restoration Services. I had a bad feeling from the beginning and should have called someone else. Due to over hearing the plumber and Jon talk about there kick back for having me call them. Which when they realized I was hearing there conversation both got really quiet, red faced and changed the subject. But it was 8pm on Sunday and my basement was flooded. I didn't have another option. So a really long story short, My basement flooded on 3/13/16. They finally finished on 6/10/16. The damaged to my basement was very small and should only taken them about 1 month at most according to my insurance company. Once they have everything torn apart they know that they have you locked in. Because it was a smaller job they put us on the back burner. They no showed on me at least 10 times and they let themselves into our house a bunch of times without letting us know they would be there.( they had our garage key code). Jon is completely full of crap and Tom could write a book on excuses. I haven't even touched on the horrible quality of the work or the insanely high price gouging to the insurance company. !!!!!!!! Whatever you do, Don't use this business. Save yourself the time and frustration!!!!! read more
