Located on Indian reservation Ute Mountain Hotel is a nice find in a wilderness full of inns and dirty motels. Rooms are fantastic, clean and comfortable. Parking lot is safe. Although a casino there are strict rules about alcohol and drugs and they are heavy on security. Casino wise, it is a small casino dominated by slot machines. Restaurant is ok a bit disappointing but the hotel quality made up for it!

Nazi Center see how empty there's a reason and they will continue to lose business and respect

    - star rating Do not STOP here under any circumstances not even for gas!! And especially for recreation! Spend your money someplace else.... They are rude and unfriendly and have changed. I used to stop here twice a year in my travels but never again! They have the machines rigged the so called TRAVEL center has lost its mind and has a Nazi at the entrance! and wants to point lasers at your head to go inside and purchase gas or a soda!! Lasers according to med professionals damage your pineal in your brain. They are rude and have NO respect for other human beings. No thanks a million other places to go and many other reservations that treat you civil like the one I grew up on...

We stopped in for the night on our way up to Ouray Colorado. The overnight accommodations and the food at Kuchu's was top notch. I highly recommend staying here unless you like to drink they don't serve or sell alcohol here and that's fine by me because I don't require liquor to have a great time.

The hotel area at night. Each room has it's own balcony.

Rooms were well-priced, clean and nicely decorated. We planned to stay one night and stayed two. The bathroom sink was too high for me. I am just under 5'. The repeated signs in the lobby indicating that only hotel guests were allowed past a certain point or in a certain area made me worried. If that is the case, maybe a locked door that requires a room key? What happens here? Why all the notices? But the room was comfortable and we did not feel unsafe. The casino is fairly small but we had fun. Lots of security. Random people just hanging around and not actually gambling, talking or doing anything. Strange but unconcerning. Just as an FYI, this is a dry casino. No alcohol, no marijuana, no drugs allowed on the premises, at all.

Fajitas well made and wonderful taste.

Stayed in this casino hotel for one night when traveling back to Colorado. The room was very nice. We did not have any noise from the hotel. We tried the restaurant in the casino and the food was delicious and great prices for the food. Though we were there during a busy time and had a 15 minute wait but it was worth it. Casino was busy so we did not play any of the slots. Smoking is allowed in the casino area. But there is a nonsmoking area also. All the employees were helpful and very nice. Great service. Look forward to staying here again.

Chair inside room very dirty, but rest of room clean. The room was otherwise clean, but we definitely did not sit on this chair!

$1.99 breakfast--and it was good! Besides the dirty chair in room--other negative was NO FRIDGE in room! Cannot even pay extra for one. Only available in suite, I was told.

    Nice sized King room.

Good experience at the White Eagle while spending the night from Pennsylvania and exploring Mesa…read moreVerde. Held our breath while opening the door to the room, but room 17 was clean and well equipped with 3 double beds for our family of 5. Cable TV worked well, internet took a few minutes to connect but worked fine, and showers were hot. Other patrons were quiet and caused no disturbances. Only issue was the tub drain that did not drain, but after borrowing a plunger and attempting to gain flow, the manager gave me the room key to the room next door so we could continue our shower process. Problem solved! It is family- run establishment, which I like to support- and although dated, it was clean, convenient, and at $147, more affordable than other options in Cortez. Thanks, White Eagle!

**Family-Owned, Clean Pet-Friendly Motel That Checks All the Boxes**…read more The White Eagle Inn was a very nice stop to recharge on our way to New Mexico. Being a family-owned hotel with just three owners in 60 years, it was satisfying to support a local business run by two charismatic and enthusiastic owners that deeply care about their property rather than another hotel chain run by the "Big Six" (IHG, Choice, Wyndham, Hyatt, Marriott, Hilton). We arrived late at night, but the owners were so kind to arrange a late check-in process. Check-in time is from 3-9 so they were generous to accommodate us. The late check in was convenient and socially distant. The owner Kellie even sent ice to our freezer! Nice touch. -Location: The hotel is located right off the highway through Cortez, though a little removed from the city center. -The Hotel: White Eagle has a homey, down-to-earth yet earnest feel. It is a lovely throwback! There are 16 rooms and a nice picnic area with grill. There are 2 areas for the furbabies. Pet friendly but you absolutely need to declare your animals. Rooms are a single level motel format with quaint front desk area. -The Room: We had the triple room 17 which was very comfortable with three double beds. It is located at the end of the motel and has two chairs and a table in front. The room was clean and had retro wood paneling and traditional lamp shades. The bathroom was properly sealed and very clean. There is a table and chairs for eating as well as desk with chair. The beds are a bit springy but nice. It was so nice to have three beds for three travelers. Light fixture above window may need some dusting (mostly negligible but just wanted to point it out). Room blackouts out with ease for easy sleep. The bathroom had tile floors and the shower was very quiet. The water pressure is lower, but this is the desert! Perfectly understandable. However, the hot and cold faucet knobs took more adjusting to get the right temperature (bounced between very hot and very cold fast). They did not skimp, with tons of towels, washcloths, toilet paper, and shampoos/soap (came in individual packages) in the room which was so welcome! A/C ran consistently and the room stayed cool in the Colorado heat. Two important notes are that check out is at 10 AM and that there is no breakfast (though there is tea and coffee). Better get your early bird game on and get the worms! Check out is seamless, just put the key in a drop-off at the lobby door. The owner Mark personally sent us goodbye and gave us some great recommendations for the area. Positives: + Enthusiastic Staff + Three Beds Option + Tons of Towels + Quiet Shower + Only 16 Rooms + Easy Check In and Check Out + Great Value Neutrals: / Location Quips: - No Breakfast (understandable with COVID) - 10 AM Check In (due to COVID) - Knobs on Shower Overall White Eagle Inn was fantastic and we will definitely return when we see Mesa Verde! Excellent Value! 106 for a clean room and three beds is unbeatable.

First of all, we are both total germaphobes (even before Covid) and this place was sparkling clean! We never walk barefoot on hotel floors, but we did here. We also sat on the bed covers, and even the sofa, another first. lol. And...we have never seen such a clean coffee pot. We were super impressed and immediately felt right at home. Everything was tastefully decorated and welcoming. The layout of the room was excellent - plenty of space, and lots of light and greenery. We loved the fridge / microwave / sink in the main area, as we had brought most of our food for the weekend. There was plenty of room for all of our food and drinks. The shower was large and had three nozzles, plenty of hot water, and good water pressure. Towels were fluffy and clean. Again, every detail of this place was well thought out and comfortable. I think the floors might have even been heated, which felt great on our bare feet. Staff could not have been more friendly and helpful. And the breakfast - wow! With Covid we had a set time for our breakfast which was really nice. And the food was amazing! Homemade yogurt and granola, a warm egg dish, scone, fresh fruit, delicious coffee and teas...we were in heaven. The breakfast room was full of light and plants, and there was also the option to eat on the patio. An added bonus is that the tap water in Bluff is delicious! We brought several gallons of water with us, and didn't even need to use it. Usually we don't bother with ice machines at hotels, but the ice was delicious and we enjoyed having plentiful ice water during the trip. Again, this place is all that - and more! Loved every minute and are already planning a return trip.

One Star - Outrageous Host Behavior, Unprofessional, and Discriminatory…read more I stayed at Outpost Motel on the River in July 2025. After being treated poorly and forced out of our room despite a verbal agreement to extend our stay, I emailed the property to calmly and respectfully explain the issue and offer a solution. I've included this link (https://photos.app.goo.gl/cnfiqJrszczcjswE9) to a copy of my full email so you can see exactly what I said. I was polite, reasonable, and offered the property a chance to resolve the situation. In response, I was sent one of the most hostile, abusive, and unprofessional emails I have ever seen. I've attached her response in full so you can read her exact words. She called me a "dumb fuck" and told me to "fuck off," all while claiming to run a "family joint." I'm not sure what kind of family she's referring to, but I wouldn't want mine anywhere near that environment. I am a person in recovery with nearly seven years of sobriety. Her false accusations and dehumanizing language were deeply retraumatizing, stigmatizing, and harmful--and this kind of treatment is dangerous for anyone, especially those in recovery. I've also included time-stamped photos of the room as we left it: clean, undamaged, and not remotely what she falsely described. I've reported her conduct to Booking.com and submitted all supporting documentation. This is not just a case of bad customer service. It's a case of blatant hostility, discrimination, and verbal abuse. I'm sharing this review to protect future travelers--especially those in recovery or anyone who expects basic human decency.

We got word that my mother in law was very ill and was going to die. We had to cancel our travel plans. I called immediately and spoke to a woman at the front desk. She said she would take care of it. Stupid me, I trusted her. She didn't. A few weeks later, I see a one night charge on my card (that's their policy, if you're a no-show you're charged one night). Uh, no, I called and canceled! So I called again and asked to speak to the manager. That was a no, he doesn't take phone calls and I had to email him. I did. Twice. No response.
