I picked up my first Utilikilt in Vancouver BC, during St Patricks Day when the company was up there for some cross border promotion, The staff working the booth were awesome, and I ended up hanging out for the better part of the weekend at the booth when it was free (part of my time was spent at work where I ended up convincing them to let me wear my kilt during work since it was St Patricks Day) . I ended up on good terms with booth guys and scored an invite to the company's "7 Year Itch" Party celebrating 7 years of business. I only got to see the store briefly that weekend. It wasn't until 3 years later during a day trip (that turned into an overnight trip) down to Seattle that I got a chance to get into the flagship store during business hours, but it felt like a home coming, I walked in wearing my Kilt (as I had worn it down for the day trip anyways) and was welcomed with open arms. despite the fact that the people behind the counter that day were staff I had never met until just then. I hung out for a while in store browsed the racks, and even got to witness their interaction with a few customers who wandered in off the street. Everyone was treated with the same level of respect regardless of what they had around their waist. The staff knows how to have a good time with customers, while at the same time keeping a level of professionalism that you would see in any high end clothing store. I have since moved accross country and am living in Ontario, but if I ever find myself in Seattle again and in the market to pick up another Kilt, the store at Pioneer Square is defenitly going to get my business. So, I thought reviews were for the business, not the item...? (If you don't like pasta, don't rate an Italian restaurant, no?) I wear kilts (Stewart dress with a dinner jacket and daily wear Blackwatch with a sweater/collared shirt), worsted wool, 5 yard usually, all the time, never with a t-shirt...or combat boots...maybe I'm just too old. (besides, I wear combat boots enough anyway) Arguing for wear of the Utilikilt because it has pockets is a ludicrous concept. If I need the utility of pockets, sporrans and rucksacks (and even Sportkilts - yes, I have one, but it's Blackwatch wool) have been around for a while... I think part of the problem people in Seattle have with them is they are just not used to seeing men's legs anyway... Either way, Pioneers belong in Pioneer Square, no? Regardless! The store is great, the staff are fun, customer oriented, and involved in the community. They are not stuffy, nor are they overbearingly silly, just regular folks who are unabashedly straightforward. The product, the utilikilts themselves, are well-made. If you should want one, the prices are on average much lower than a regular wool. So, from me, business location gets one, staff gets one, product gets one, price gets one. 4 stars. read more

To be fair, this review is biased, I think they are the ugliest thing ever and if men want to wear a skirt, wear one or if you want to wear a kilt wear one. However my review is not about the product, but about the customer service. My boyfriend has one (he is not allowed to wear it, though) and he wanted to look around the store, sure I thought, it will be a good laugh. The gentleman who helped us, was very nice..but could not take a hint that we were just looking, we knew how sizing worked, we are just looking..he constantly bombarded us with pressure to try something on. He never got it. He offered us a card on the way out, walked us all the want to the door trying to get us to try something on. Even if I was going to buy one, I would do it on line. i had to give these guys at Utilikilt 5 stars due to their complete care and generosity. Do you want to deal with real people who actually care about making quality clothing? Do you want to have the utmost in customers service where they actually want to make you happy by catering to your every need? Not pretentious, not too cool for you, just local people making a living selling kilts and doing a damn fine job. Oh how I wanted a Utilikilt. They vow to match you with the best fit, while shuttling you around the store with your pants down in their babies. Check out all the pics around with the many satified customers. Most look like they are made of sturdy cotton canvas. I would consider the black or army camo. Too bad I don't have the legs to rock these stylish all in one accessor-garb. Imagine popeye biceps as my calves...ok, not that extreme, but close. I opted for a tank top instead. Utilakilts designs and offers American ingenuity and the essence of clean design. I have worn their product with a replaced knee that was swollen , and right after Knee Surgery. If your suffering from the surgery .... GET OUTTA THE PANTS !!!! . Also; In the Tropics of Asia , Bangkok , and Saigon , Vietnam you cannot go wrong in a Kilt. Get used to the Police giving you thumbs Up , and you will hear : SCOTLAND !!! All the time. Women over there are very interested in Men ... in Kilts. For striding across Old Saigon , or walking sandy beaches in Hoy Anh , or Vung Tao , you cannot go wrong. My Workman was constantly complimented as : BEAUTIFUL , by French women and always toasted by the Aussie's . Last thought: If you want to trek across a HOT HUMID city , Kilt Up ... with Utilakilts.
