I don't typically write reviews but I felt compelled to write because I want to warn others of this place. The woman at the front desk who works on Saturdays was extremely rude. I think she likes to argue with customers for the sake of arguing. Also and importantly, despite the very high prices, the cleaning is poor. For example, they left a stain on my dress and overall, it doesn't even look like they actually cleaned it or pressed it. AVOID this dry cleaner. Dystopia Cleaners would be a more fitting name for them. read more

I've been going here for about 3 months now, and am happy with how they do. I was trying to get my new suit tailored 3 days before a military ball, and the lady there kindly got everything taken care of (I paid when the job was done, and made sure to give extra because of the outstanding work). Also, nice try Zeynep. I asked the owner what your review was all about (I am a weekly customer), and the lady is able to prove that your name isn't even on her computer as a customer. Also, keep in mind that the person working there has been there since 2018, and that any reviews before that were for the previous owner. I don't usually post reviews on here, but I felt compelled after seeing the low reviews on the business. This store is highly underrated, and I would personally recommend it to everyone. read more

I am so happy that I found Utopia Cleaners. They exceeded my expectations. I am in the Newton area often, and it's a convenient place for me to take my dry cleaning. They did a superb job. I was so pleased. The woman who helped me was also very professional and kind. Uh, no thanks. Did you know that "Utopia" also means a place of non-existence? It's easy to stop by and drop off the dry cleaning here, with its proximity to the bank, bagel store, and supermarket. But don't get sucked in -- while the on-site staff is generally nice, they're powerless. A shirt came back with very visible black streaks, essentially ruining the piece of clothing. Hey, mistakes happen (although it's hard to believe no one noticed the stains before hanging and bagging the shirt), but when asked about the damage, the person behind the counter said he couldn't do anything without talking to the owner and they would give us a call. What, no standard damage policy? We're still waiting. Save your money and go around the corner to the place on Lexington. read more

I called here this week to verify if a shirt I planned on dropping off would be ready to be picked up by the time I needed it, the woman responded that it would. When I went to drop the shirt off the pick up date was three days later than the day she told me on the phone. When I verified she practically growled at me and changed the pick up day on the slip. I walked out with no confidence that my item would be done in time. Needless to say, I will not be back! read more

DO NOT GO TO THIS CLEANER!!! They wasted so many shirts for us- torn elbows, heme, etc. and when i took it back to show the owner, she yelled at me like crazy! When I told her this is her fault and that she should take ownership of her failure, she physically pushed me out of the store, locked herself inside the store and did not open it back although i was there knocking on the glass door. Staff are very friendly and polite. The cleaning method they use is environmentally friendly. However, people desiring alterations BEWARE. A skirt and a pair of pants were hemmed and both came undone within two weeks time. read more

Never go ! I left my coat to dry clean on Dec 14 and I asked also to have the buttons tighten. The pick up date was Dec 19th, and when I got there on the 20th, the attendant could not find my coat and could not explain me what happenned. She told me to come back next day. So on next day she told me that the coat was not there, and maybe in another store, but could not give me a good explanation (maybe for her lack of english) for what have happenned. She told me to come back the following week. I got a call saying that I could pick up the coat, and when I got there the buttons were not the same. The same attendant, pointing the finger at my face, called me a liar. In fact, when I got home I realized that it wasn't even my coat. I went back to the store with a picture of my coat and she returned my coat hours later. The worst experience I ever had as a customer. read more

It seems like a lot of the reviews are outdated. I think management has changed this year, or at least, the woman working there has. She's very friendly and speaks English very well (not that it matters in anyway). I haven't had a problem at all with customer service. My clothes have returned to me very clean and are treated with great care. I have had a great experience with this cleaners and will be continuing to go here. read more

AWFUL. It's convenient, yes. Worth the hassle? Absolutely not. I used to take $30 a week of cleaning here - the new owners (as of the last 5-6 months) still don't know my name nor speak English very well. They wrote my name in my shirt without permission (what if it wasn't my shirt I was dry cleaning!?). Zero skills when it comes to tailoring - so DO NOT go here for that. I had my pockets "repaired" on my dress pants there and the woman completely destroyed them. They are unusable. She stitched three uneven rows on the outside (like racing stripes). What?!? I told her I wasn't paying the fee and she freaked out on me. She took back the rest of my dry cleaning and refused to give them to me. She threw stuff on the floor and screamed in her native language (presumably something awful ... lol). Anyhow, she returned my clothes only after I threatened to call the police. WHAT A SH*T SHOW. OMG, the worst and most horrifying experience. My husband dropped 9 shirts for dry cleaning and they returned 8 and pretended no English so no talking. They stole the newest tailor made shirt and we are shocked they still charged us for 9 shirts. The lady rushed off to avoid talking to us. I have been going here for almost 10 years. I have never had a single issue with the place. When I moved from Waltham to Newton Center I continued to go here even though it was kind of far away because I really liked it. The lady that runs the place is extremely nice. One time I had a very small bill and did not have cash and she didn't want to run a credit card to incur a fee. She just told me to pay for it the next time I came in. read more

I brought shirts here last week and they came back with new stains on them - blood or something. The woman denied responsibility for the stains and refused to do anything about it. When I told her I was writing a negative review on Yelp, she chased me out of the store yelling "thank you!" and threw my shirts on the ground in the parking lot. I brought a very expensive suit to Utopia. The fabric around my pant pocket frayed and I asked if she could do anything to replace the fabric. She said yes. When I returned she simply stitched over the area - a total eye soar making the pants unwearable. When I protested, she became belligerent and at one point refused to even return the rest of my clothes. My message to her was simple, she should have never accepted the job because the pants were wearable before. Now they are not and her attitude made things worse,.I will never go back... Save your clothes and your money and choose any other dry cleaner in the area. I brought my dry clean only dress (white with blue pattern) to be cleaned. Upon picking it up and being charged, I opened the plastic to find that the blue pattern on the dress completely ran all over the white and the dress was totally ruined and unwearable. Upon asking her what happened, the woman actually tried to say that this was how the dress was when I brought it in to her. She then ignored me and continued sewing someone's sure-to-be-ruined pants. I told her I least needed my $20 back for the dress that was now ruined and she refused and continue to say this was how the dress was. I had to stay and insist for a very long time until she threw a $20 at me (I had paid on my card) and yelled at me to get out of her store. I'm so upset that not only my dress is totally ruined, but that she denied the mistake, insisted I was lying, and was SO rude to me as her customer. Looks like I've had a similar experience to everyone else...not sure how they're still in business! read more

I agree with the prior reviewer about the quality of the alterations. I had a bad experience as well. Would not agree that staff is polite. Refused to fix the bad alteration and were very belligerent about it. Would not recommend. read more

After having a shirt cleaned at Utopia and bringing it home, I found a two inch tear in the shoulder. I brought it back with the clips and tag still on the shirt, but they said they were not responsible for the damage, because I didn't check it before leaving the store. Their customer service sucks! read more

These cleaners have ripped my husband's dress shirts 3 times in a row. The first two times, they tried to tell me it was because the shirts were old. The third (and last time) we went to them, a brand new shirt had a rip in it. We will not be going back and I strongly advise you not to go here. read more

DO NOT GO! I have been going to this cleaner for 3 months. Two weeks ago a shirt came back stained. They graciously agreed to clean it again for free. When it came back bagged I took it home, and upon removing from the bag saw the same stain. I brought it back in today to show the stain and asked if they wanted to try again. The man behind the counter accused me of WEARING the shirt since I took it home. Mind you, the clips were on it, the STAPLED TAG was still on it! So not only did they not acknowledge that they didn't get the stain out, but they accused me of getting the same stain in the same spot, and of lying to him! I took a lot of clothes here. will never do that again! she told me that they charged 5.75 per pant. guess what, she then added 1.25 per pant because one was linen, one was wool, one was silk. I am not sure what pants are supposed to be made of if not these materials??? Next time, I took one of the pants back because she was not supposed to crease it. She was supposed to iron the crease out. Guess what. She charged me 5.75 to iron the pant to take the crease out! The crease is still there by the way. No it looks weird because it still shows. DO NOT GO HERE! I asked them to do a simple procedure on a dress, and they did not do what I asked them and was very clear about. They still tried to make me pay the full amount even though they did not do what I asked, and ruined the sleeves of an expensive dress, and then the woman took my dress back when I said I was not happy with having to pay for something I didn't ask for. She refused to give me my dress until I paid at least $15. I wouldn't give this place a negative rating. read more

I would NOT recommend this cleaners. I brought shoes there to be cleaned, and I was happy to find a place that would clean my shoes as other places I looked didn't. The owner told me it would be more on the expensive side ($45) but that she could clean them. I agreed, but when I went to pick them up they were just a dirty as when I left them off. She said she tried three different times to clean them and they just couldn't be cleaned. I told her I wished she had told me that before because I wouldn't have bothered dropping them off. She would not let me leave with the shoes without paying. I could have more easily just bought new shoes, but these were the shoes I wore to my sister's wedding. She spent a long time either yelling at me or ignoring me while I tried to explain how I didn't feel as though I should pay. I should have read the reviews ahead of time, because they don't seem to be flattering for the store. Do NOT go to this cleaners. read more
