They took me at my word, and politely wrote out a check to cover the cost of the blouse. It took a few days for the manager to get around to it, but I got a phone call and was SO THRILLED. I'm still really wary of relying on cleaners to remove spots from silk though. Oh yeah...they do great alterations too! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I used to go to Somerville Cleaners, which was amazing....but I moved and now go to Aldrich. I usually just take in pants / suits to be cleaned and pressed. I took in a silk blouse to be cleaned. There were too small spills (peasized or smaller). I now have silk blouse with a half dollar sized bleach spot and another bleach spot with the diameter of a softball. The color AND the texture of the fabric was damaged in both spots. When I picked up the clothing, they did not inform me that the blouse was damaged during the cleaning. I called, but they requested to see it. I'm taking it in this weekend, so we shall see. For now, I am less than pleased. If anyone knows any home remedies for cleaning SILK, let me know...because NOW I'm SO paranoid about letting anyone else ruin an $88 shirt.

Recently I had some garments for tailoring. I went into the change room as they asked, but midway through being pinned a man came in who wanted elbow patches on his sweater. The woman left me without apology or explanation and went and helped him! I said nothing and went to change into the next garment. I stepped out and the tailor and another assistant were finishing up with typing in clothes from clients who had left. I waited. A man then came in and the tailor served him - while ignoring me. The other woman went to the back. I waited. The first man left, and another man came in and again, the tailor served the new male customer. I waited and then said, "this is the second customer you have served while I am waiting." He arrogantly didn't even turn, she said nothing. I went in and changed. She came and tried to hug me. I said nothing and walked out. Awful, awful service at very high prices. I went down the road to an elderly couple who are wonderful tailors. Half the price and far better service and tailoring. Recently I brought in a very expensive Brioni tuxedo shirt that my husband wore once last year and he has sine passed away. I was cleaning and storing the shirt for my son. When I got home I realized that the shirt was missing, I went back the next day, and the owner's wife Tina said she remembered the shirt and will look for it. Over the next 6 weeks she was still looking for it and of course calling me to update me. Finally this past Wednesday I call and spoke the her husband. He got on the phone accusing me of losing the shirt because they never make mistakes and after all it was almost 2 months ago. I tried telling him that his wife was informed on a weekly basis and she was looking for it. He screamed anc cursed at me and told me to take him to court and slammed the phone down. I did not even get a chance to respond. His arrogance is overwhelming. Out of the 10 shirts, 2 looked like they were pressed, collars were very wrinkled I'm sure I would get the same results if I did them myself I brought it to the attention to the older gentleman/ owner and he seemed really indifferent. he said it was the best he could do. He said he does thousands of shirts every day for 48 years which I didn't really care. I was really only interested in the shirts I was paying for and my finished results Instead of offering to try to redo them and make it right he just basically insulted me and told me I was there to complain I was there because I was looking to find a local dry cleaners and had actually brought more shirts to drop off to him. I was thoroughly impressed when we recently brought in my puffy jacket. It came in covered in chicken, as I had picked up some chicken breasts at BJs, only to have the "juice" spill ALL OVER the front of my jacket and the sleeves. Disgusting. The jacket went straight to the cleaners. It had also gotten some stains on it from Home Depot the previous week, so a cleaning was definitely needed. Mayfair said the jacket would be ready in 3 days, but when my husband went to pick it up, they said they hadn't been able to get all the stains out and were keeping it a bit longer so they could work on it and would call when it was ready. I was really impressed by that service! They never called, unfortunately, but my husband went back a few days later and it was ready. I did notice one small stain still there, but I don't blame them - Home Depot stains (most likely grease) are impossible to get out! Mayfair is our new dry cleaner! I also love that they offer free delivery.
