Utopia is the nicest tanning salon in the San Ramon Valley. I can come in an immediately am able to tan. I don't have to think ahead and call to make an appointment....major plus. Their level 3 bed is great if you are trying to get rid of tan lines on your side and the level 4 bed is absolutely divine. Air-conditioning and 100% tan coverage is perfect. They are always helpful and their prices are very reasonable. I notice results after one tan. Always get the lotion though as it helps your tan show up quicker and also maintains color longer! I've been to Utopia a few times here and there and I must say, I love this salon and when I'm able to tan this is the place I go to. One of the girls that works there, Bita, is always so nice and gives the best recommendations!! She was very caring and meticulous about getting the job done right and told me she would go out of her way to fix anything that came up over the weekend which was so thoughtful. I LOVE UTOPIA!! Used to go to Glo, but they were just so unfriendly. The employees at Utopia are great, always helpful and whenever I call with questions they can answer right away without hesitation. When you get there they greet you with a smile and they help you with whatever they can. Best part about Utopia: STUDENT DISCOUNT! (and all their other great offers) Their beds are always clean and relaxing and they also have a nice selection of lotions and other productions to choose from. I understand that tanning is bad for you, really. And honestly, I can handle being pale for 9 months out of the year. But once summer rolls around and I come back from school, I feel the urge to do the damage (which I'll probably be paying for later). I've been coming to Utopia every summer since 2008, and have never been disappointed. Their student discounts are great, and I can never resist the $40, unlimited tanning for a month deal. Some have mentioned breaking out into hives after using the beds, but I can safely say that has never happened to me (and I have sensitive skin). Oh, and that weird smell that somebody commented on? It's probably their cleaning supplies, so in that case, I'd rather smell weird than lay in an unsanitary bed. On a final note, I've rarely had to wait to use a bed in all of the summers I have gone here, but then again, I tend to avoid going anytime after about 3:30 (it's common sense that it'd be busier later in the day, because people will be going after work/school). read more

Thinking that I would just get a gift certificate for my mother, the woman behind the desk made me feel so comfortable that I decided to book a spa service for myself. I do not tan often, but if I'm going to do it, Utopia is where I will tan forever. To start, I came in, preparing for an upcoming wedding i was going to, and was immediately greeted by the girl at the front desk. When I asked about tanning, she gave me a complete tour of the beds (4 Different levels or types I should say). She also showed me the mystic. She showed me a basic bed, a bed with special facial lamps, a very powerful standup bed, a mysic, AND a bed that has special face lamps, its HUGE, and has AIR CONDITIONING!! I was stunned when the girl giving me the tour told me that these were the best beds that anybody can buy, and even though that other places tell you they are, they arent. I started looking at the price book, and realized that the prices for the mystic were less than glo's or tropical solutions, PLUS they have the newest mystic machine that you get your own personal mysic solution every time you tan. I thought that was so cool. I tried the mysic that day and I didnt get orange at ALL. I had not one streak on my body, plus they have two different colors you can choose from. A couple weeks later I went in and asked about getting a massage. I found out for just a little over 100 dollars you can get an hour long massage and an hour long facial! Immediately I got that. Flipping through the book I saw that they had a TON of different facials and massages to choose from. They also had waxing, which I was told they use the most sensetive wax. I was suprised to find out they do eyebrow tining, eyelash tinting, eyelash extensions, and even HAIR extensions. They even have a doctor that does a variety of different things like botox and lasar hair removal. It was wonderful. Overall, I would defintely recommend Utopia to ANYONE looking to get airbrush, mysic, or even reguar tanning. The massage anf facial were awesome. Not to mention the place was SPOTLESS. read more

This review is specifically for Sevdana, who provides airbrush spray tan. I have been going to Sevdana for quite some time now. I love to be tan but I don't tan well in a regular tanning bed. I used to do versa spa, but after getting airbrushed I will never do a booth spray tan again. First of all, I love her product, it does not smell bad, and I love the tan. i've been airbrushed before but she's definitely the best. She make sure that your hands and feet are clean before you leave and pays great attention to detail. I am very picky, and also very fair skinned, but I like to be really dark. She's worked with me to find the perfect dark solution for me that still looks natural on my fair skin. If you want a bronze tan that is not orange, then she is great. I have recommended her to many of my friends and they have all loved her as well! read more

My experience at utopia was horrible. I bought a year package that included mystic and regular tanning. It was a great deal until I started breaking out I couldn't tell if it was from the mystic or beds, but either way I wanted my money back and to no longer use the facility. I got in contact with the manager and she told me she understood and would stop charging me. Two months later I was still getting charged so I called the manager again. She simply told me that my recollection of our previous convo was different than reality and that she would continue to charge me. I let her know that I would then dispute charges with my credit card company an her reply was "go ahead, I never lose a dispute". As a result I got my money back from disputing charges and swore to never go back or let anyone i know have to deal with a facility that has rude management and dirty environment that has made several people break out in hives and rashes. Ok-this place is HORRIBLE.....I cant say it enough! I guess I am the idiot for going there a second time, but I thought I would give it another try since it is so close to my house. So I got an eyebrow wax and a lash tint. The girl was like 18, if even, and I really seriously doubt she was certified. She didnt evenly tint my eyelashes, so half were black, and have were not... She then tinted my face and some of my eyes, so for like 4 days I had black dye on my face. Absolutely ridiculous. She also got the dye in my eye, and it burned sooo bad. then the wax she used on my eyebrows caused me to break out in like a thousand pimples. I get my eyebrows waxed every other month, and this has never happened to me before, except for here. Also, she didnt even trim them. So I paid 55 dollars to break out and have dye on my face.... This place is soooo unprofessional. So unless you want a teenager working on your face or hair...dont go here!!!!! read more

I was actually really disappointed with my last experience at Utopia tan. I started going there sometime last year and purchased a student tanning pass, which was like 50 dollars. Then I went away to college and now I'm back for the summer and wanted to start tanning there again. So I went in there yesterday to purchase a student pass again, I told the girl that I wanted the student pass and she said okay that is going to be 75 dollars. And I reacted by saying woah it went up a lot since I was last here. She explained to me that I must of come during prom season and because of tanning tax it went up. That made sense to me, so I paid for it and went to tan. Today when I went in and went to tan and as I was putting my lotion on I noticed that the student pass still said it was 50 dollars. So I went out to ask the lady and she replied very rudely by saying well we only give that to you if you ask. And I replied I did ask for it, she huffed and said okay and immediately got an attitude with me. She gave me my money back but she did so with an attitude and acted as if I was a huge inconvenience. I was not the person she should have been mad at, it should have been her coworker. She was extremely rude after and slammed my card on the table. I'm not the one who made the mistake, her coworker was and I thought it was unfair for her to treat me that way. read more

I've been to many different tanning salons all over the west coast while traveling for my job and Utopia Tanning & Spa in San Ramon, CA is by far my favorite! Their mystic tanning booth always give me such an even and natural looking tan! I love being able to chose between the light, medium and dark solutions each time. It is so convenient with my busy schedule to be able to stop at one location for a relaxing facial and a great tan!
