Came in after work on a Friday shortly after 5. There were only a few people already there when I arrived. A few minutes later, two couples who are regulars arrived & sat at the bar near me. They told me that very soon I'll see the place packed with the usual Friday customers, and they were right! It was nice being included in conversation as if I was a regular along with them. The bartender greeted me promptly & gave me a drink & food menu. I ordered two lychee blossom drinks which I've had before, if I see a lychee drink on the menu I will usually go with that drink. Was given bread along with a white sauce that tasted good, one of the couples passed their marinara dish for me to try my bread with & that was good as well. I ordered meatballs from the appetizer menu to bring home, they were good as always. I knew they had different specials on different days and was hoping there was a happy hour menu at the bar, but I did not see any specials for Fridays. read more

Uva Rossa has been around for over a decade, but despite living in the area I somehow overlooked this place. Thankfully, this place came recommended and we were in the mood for Italian. We came in on a Friday night and had a great time. The vibe and decor is Tuscan with lots of brick and wood around giving a warm feeling. Adding to the warm feeling was the friendly staff - the hostess gave us a 4 top despite us only being 2. They must have knew how much food we were going to order haha. We were given bread with an interesting spread that was tasty, but still not sure what it was exactly. Ordered some red wines. We looked over the menu to decide on some dishes to share. Here's the run down: CARCIOFO BRASATE CON BURRATA BRAISED BABY ARTICHOKES, WITH PISTACHIO PESTO AND BURRATA This was really enjoyable and with creamy burrata and delicious pistachio pesto that was perfect with the tender baby artichokes PARMIGIANA DI MELANZANA Eggplant meatballs were so good with so much flavor - didn't miss the meat at all. Fantastic sauce with this as well. BIETOLA & FUNGHI salad ROASTED RED BEET, MARINATED PORTOBELLO MUSHROOMS, ORGANIC BABY ARUGULA, GOAT CHEESE, WHITE BALSAMIC VINEGAR DRESSING The presentation of this dish was impressive with circles of beets acting as bed for the salad. It was different from the usual chunks of beets in most salads. I enjoyed this salad SPAGHETTI AL LIMONE IMPORTED ORGANIC SPAGHETTI, MEYER LEMON, PARMIGGIANO, FRESH BASIL We asked the kitchen to split this dish for us and they accommodated. The cheesy lemony pasta was perfect and paired well with spicy shrimp dish we ordered. GAMBERI UBRIACATI WILD BLUE SHRIMP, SWEET CHERRY TOMATOES, PANCETTA, CORN, CRISPY BREAD, RED PEPPER FLAKES These shrimps were really incredibly tasty - I usually don't order shrimp dishes in restaurants because they usually give a bit of chlorinated taste. Not here. The sauce was spicy with the pancetta and corn adding sweetness. For dessert we shared the brownie topped with pistachio gelato. The brownie was unremarkable, but the gelato was good. The espressos were perfectly made. The place was busy all night with a few open tables - the service encouraged us to sit allowing us to really enjoy our night. A fantastic experience. read more

I'd rate Uva Rossa Taverna four and a half stars. Cozy wine tavern. Solid selection of wines by the bottle, glass, and on tap. Plus a full bar with some house cocktails and a few macros on draft. We dined in on a week night and were seated immediately. Seemed like a neighborhood spot as nearly all the tables were celebrating a birthday or an anniversary. I had a couple glasses of Pinot noir with dinner. Pretty happy with the glass. Nice selection of wines by the glass. Generous pour too. They started us with complimentary bread with a cannellini bean dip. We appreciated the included in which is uncommon nowadays. For the next course, we shared the beet and mushroom salad with arugula and goat cheese. Beets were sliced ultra thin, so they ate almost like a slice of cured meat. Goat cheese was on the mild side and didn't have much funk or tanginess which I appreciated. After, we shared the roasted baby artichokes. They were served in a umami forward plate with pistachios and a stracciatella. Super creamy and savory. I made sure to get extra bread to clean up all of the nutty goodness. For our main course, we shared one of the specials - a lamb stew. Super homey dish. Another umami forward dish with ultra tender carrots, potatoes, and lamb. The kind of dish that soothes on a cold night or transports you to a fire side. There were two spacious, single occupancy restrooms. The service was attentive and friendly. I love that the menu highlights the region of Italy the dishes are native to. We had a delicious new salad that consisted of portobello mushrooms, beets, arugula and goat cheese. First timer and definitely recommend. Small and cute little restaurant. Made a reservation for a table but ended up having our meal at the bar. We shared the polpo alla luciana appetizer and papardelle con ragu' di vitello pasta dish. Good size portions but if you're overly hungry I wouldn't suggest. Ordered an anniversary special espresso martini which was a perfect starter. With our pasta we ordered a Malbec based on the bartenders suggestion, it was ok probably wouldn't order it again. read more

We dined here on New Year's Eve and were extremely disappointed by the service, which completely overshadowed what is usually a great dining experience. From the start, it took an unreasonable amount of time to receive our drinks. To make matters worse, we watched tables that arrived after us receive their drinks first. Since it was it was busy we let it go. However our server didn't even wait for us to get the drinks before taking our order. We were rushed into ordering appetizers and dinner at the same time--which we understood given that it was New Year's Eve--but after that, the attentiveness completely dropped off. After dessert, instead of asking if we would like another coffee, another drink, or anything else, our server abruptly dropped the check on the table. Had he simply asked, we absolutely would have ordered another round of drinks right then. Since he didn't, we asked if we could have just one more round before leaving. We wanted a last drink to cheer in the new year & as a thank you to a couple in our group for paying the bill. We would have gone to the bar but there was no space & we were a group of 6. The hostess told us this would be no problem, and a waitress kindly (not our server) came over to take the drink order. However, when she went to the bar, either the bartender or the manager refused to serve us, saying they "needed the table." Instead of someone coming to our table to explain this politely, we were told secondhand, "I can't serve you because they need the table." The waitress felt so bad & was apologizing. Totally not her fault. This was absolutely embarrassing and unacceptable--especially after we had spent way over $500 on our bill. We have been loyal patrons of this restaurant for years. I even had a large birthday here. We love the food and the ambiance, which is why this experience was so disappointing. I completely understand how hectic New Year's Eve can be--I've been a waitress myself--but this is still a hospitality business. Our group was calm, respectful, and not unruly. We were simply adults having an early dinner before heading home to our children. Refusing one final round after approving it, and handling it so poorly, was truly disrespectful. It's a real shame, because this experience has completely changed how we feel about this place. Unfortunately, we will not be returning. UVA Rosa-it's a shame loyal customers who have recommended you so many times based on great food & ambience won't be back. In the big scheme of things, this one little review might not matter to your restaurant, but as people who live in the community and like to support our local businesses and restaurants, it's super disappointing. I think you need to reevaluate how you treat customers and communicate. Ultimately you're in the hospitality business and as such your role is to provide a great experience with food, drink and attentiveness. You failed. Do better. read more

My wife and I had a really lovely time here on our first Valentine's day as a married couple! First they brought us 2 glasses of Prosecco on the house for every table! I really appreciated that gesture! The the Pink Rose was a delicious cocktail with an ice rose in the glass (also a very nice touch) and the food was as delicious as expected! We had the eggplant meatballs appetizer which I always recommend for new guests. I had the short rib papardelle and that was so rich and delicious that I ate all the sauce on the plate after! My wife fettucini bolognese and she loved that as well. The strawberry crepe and afogatto for dessert finished things off perfectly. Definitely come here but dont wait for a special occasion because every time you come here it feels like a special occasion! read more

Seriously, it seemed like every 5-10 minutes we were prompted to add more drinks, if we were finished, take away dish that still had food on it, etc etc. so annoying. The minute we sat down, we were asked for drink selections. Another minute to order. Please let me read the menu first! I then notice Thru out the meal a guy in a suit observing everything. Guess mgt was in the house. We passed him and he never asked how our meal was,no smile, no thank u for coming. And as far as the food, I had the 3 cheese pizza which was on point w a crusty rim. What a great evening and experience I had, celebrating with friends for many reasons. At their suggestion, we landed here. My impression upon entering was an upbeat venue with lot of camaraderie among the guests, We were seated promptly and provided the menu followed by water. There were many appetizers and main corse meals to choose from including pizza, meat, fish pasta chicken and pork. We had the calamari which was the best I've ever had, hands down. Freshly cooked lightly breaded. Also the grilled artichokes, which were delicious, though we still haven't mastered the proper way to eat them. The wine sauce was scrumptious! For our entree we ordered the tomahawk steak. They brought it to the table ahead of cooking it to get us to ok the cut. Classy! Ordered medium rare, it was delicious and enough for 3 people. Two of us shared it and had the bone to go for my dog. We also ordered the lobster Risotto which my girlfriend said it was the best she's had. We had a great time and the service was stellar. I celebrated my 50th birthday as a private event. Anna, the restaurant event coordinator was absolutely wonderful! She was patient, gave excellent recommendations and my party was a HUGE success. My guests loved the food! I ordered the meatballs, margarita pizza and calamari for appetizers. I don't recall the name of the salad but everyone even raved the salad. Excellent entrees and desserts. Everything was delicious! And don't get me started on the Sangria choice of red and white, red and white wine. The servers were so attentive to all my guests and their requests. You don't even need to decorate because the place is fabulous with rustic decor and lighting. I added a few red roses just bc that was my theme. You're allowed your preferred playlist and can adjust the volume as well. I would definitely recommend this gem! read more

Celebrated my birthday here, and everything ran smoothly from the moment the reservation was made. We were advised at the time the reservation was made via phone that there is 1 check and a 20% gratuity. One of the reasons we chose this restaurant is consideration of the time limit per table. Another restaurant we were considering permits a 1.5-hour time limit for parties of 5 or more. Considering there was another reservation after ours, we were told at time of reservation that we could have the table for 3 hours (which I think is reasonable for a party of 10, considering food prep time as well!). With somewhat dim lighting, the ambience inside the restaurant is calm and romantic. I had the gnocchi al forno. I added some parmesan and pepper flakes, but honestly I don't think it needed anything additional (thankfully only made these additions to half the bowl haha). The gnocchi was perfectly flavorful and cheesy, and it was a good size as well. When ordering drinks, I told the waiter I would prefer a sweeter cocktail, and he recommended the blood orange margarita, which was certainly sweet but not so much so. I give it a thumbs up. Since I was saving my appetite for the entree and drinks, I didn't try the bread (appetizer), but I was told it was fresh and good. My boyfriend brought a cake for our party and asked for the waiters to have it refrigerated until the end of dinner. I think it was a really nice touch that, in addition to the candles that my boyfriend brought, our cake was presented with a cake sparkler, really contrasting with the dimness of the restaurant and adding a festive feeling. I recommend Uva Rossa for a low-key but pleasant celebration. read more

Uva is so good. The decor gives off rustic Italian wine bar vibes and makes you feel right at home. They always have unique specials every week. All the servers are extremely nice - shoutout to Fernando who made me a delicious ginger cocktail last time I came in. My favorite food items are: the diavola pizza, the mascalzone pizza, the papardelle con ragu di vitello, and the spaghetti al pomodorino (served tableside in a cheese wheel). This is a pretty good restaurant, service was perfect, thanks Luis! The decor is also really nice. If I lived in this charming town I would stop in at the bar for snacks. Definitely four stars for apps/starters/sides/drinks/coffee and desserts and decor and service. Started with plates of meats and cheeses, the bruschetta, a pizza, and figs, OH THE FIGS. I normally don't bug to a plate of Italian meats, but they did a nice job. The porchetta was really good. Unfortunately all the mains were terrible. Gnocchi with meat (tasted like chef Boyardee) Skirt steak, salmon, special ribeye x 2 and the veal loin. All temps were wrong, 0 for 6. And on top of that the ribeyes were more grizzly then bear. One of the temps were under and that was fixable. The medium rare that came out medium well was beyond repair. Service tried to fix, but you know what it's like when in a party of six and yours isn't right. I tried my best to eat it, but couldn't. If I could give 0 stars I would. Came here for a birthday celebration and was extremely disappointed. The pizza was covered in spicy meat, which normally we love but this had a rancid smell and taste like it was old, kept open in the fridge or left near cleaning supplies. Something was off with it but we didn't complain, picked off the meat and only ate the stuffed crust and left half the pizza. When the entrees arrived, it had a guanaciale which we're familiar with and typically fond of, but it had the same rancid, dirty smell and taste. Perhaps was the oil, but we couldn't stand the smell, didn't touch it and wanted to send it back which we never would normally do. The other 2 diners enjoyed their meals. The chef came out and made an embarrassing scene. He was arrogant, condescending and rude. He insisted there was nothing wrong with it, gave us an unsolicited lesson on the anatomy of a pig with hand gestures. Meanwhile he is a pig, I feel sorry for the waitstaff who has to work with someone who behaves that way. He said he saved our plates and wrongly accused us of actually eating the vile dish and refused to take any of it off the check. It was like an awkward episode of Curb your Enthusiasm. The customer is always right. The proper thing to do - especially for first time customers, new to the neighborhood celebrating a birthday and ordering bottles of decent wine, would have been to offer something else, take it off the bill or offer a discount, or maybe send a dessert or something instead. We honestly would have gone back and just ordered other dishes as the waiter and ambiance were nice, but we will NEVER be back and will be sure to have our wide network of loyal friends and family frequent elsewhere! read more

This was my first time here, but my parents have been a few times before. We got to the restaurant and were seated immediately because we had a reservation. The tables are very close together almost too close for comfort. It felt pretty cramped. When the hostess sat us down, she mentioned that they are out of major categories on the menu. The menu is pretty limited to begin with, so this was not a good sign. When the waiter came over, he reiterated what they were out of. They were out of all pizzas, which is an entire section of the menu. They were out of bruschetta, which again is an entire of the menu. They were out of meats and cheese boards, which was a popular item on the menu. We glanced at the menu to where they gave us a specials of the evening menu too. I decided I would try the special Spaghetti Pomodorino because they make it table side in a cheese wheel. When the waiter came over to take our order, he told us they just sold out of the Loin of Lamb special. This was a lot to be out of, but either way we made the best of it. We got some appetizers to start and we all picked different entrees. I think if I am to come back here any time soon I would need to make an earlier reservation because by 8:15 they are sold out of key menu items. read more

RUN - not walk - to eat at Uva Rossa as soon as you can. Words can't even describe how wonderful my dining experience here was. For starters, the warm bread and delicious dip served was phenomenal, and a great way to start off the evening. We shared a margherita pizza as an appetizer, and the crust was among the best I've ever had - the perfect combination of a crunchy undercarriage and a chewy crust that was essentially perfection. We had two specials as our entrees - and the star was the Spaghetti Vesuvio - spaghetti with cherry tomatoes served out of a huge parmesan cheese wheel tableside. Read the specials carefully - because this wasn't highlighted whatsoever and was a true star. Though simple, the dish was delicious and I seriously could eat it every single day. Cheesy perfection. We also had the homemade pasta with eggplant and burrata which was also particularly tasty. Will definitely be back, and so grateful we found this place! read more

Upon entering this eatery, you feel like you are entering Medieval Times. The decor is dark Renaissance. However the food is delicious modern. I poo poo'd them when they told me reservations were needed on a Tuesday night! Well, the place was packed and with good reason. Delicious crusty bread for the table along with a dip that I couldn't quite place. Turns out to be a lose humusy mixture of cannellini beans,cheese, garlic and oil. Interesting! No appetizers this time out. My pasta (Buccachinni) with clams and shrimp in a red sauce was fantastic and the other 2 got grilled skirt steak over arugula. The steak was seasoned and cooked to perfection. Cappuccino was good but I should have looked at menu for prices. Fried ravioli with banana and Nutella was very good but not good enough to warrant a price of $11.50. It was more than most appetizers!
