I ate the whole thing and I had some French stick to help dab it up and it was a meal into itself, outstanding exceptional, and excellent all apply. I've eaten in SaVino's a few times and have been quite pleased with the service and the quality of the food. Their portions are large so don't be surprised if you're bring some home. We try to sit in the back by the bar and have always had excellent service. The bar has a few televisions so you can keep up with the game if that's your interest. Another first time visit and another great restaurant hitting it out of the ball park with food and service. It was very easy access being right on Atlantic Ave. I parked on the main street just past this shop We had a big party in the back room. It's a large shop... through the dining room then past the bar. We definitely took it to the limits with people but our waiter managed to handle the crowd well. We were a large group for a Kiwanis event. After being seated the server staff took all drink and dinner orders. It was good to see how they could get the 50+ orders taken so quickly and all brough out at the same time. Once they started bringing out the food it felt-like a non-stop event. - Little flat bread pizzas and salad - Penne with Marinara Sauce - Chicken dishes - coffee I like the idea that they had wine on the table. Had a retirement party at SaVino's yesterday for my sister. This place is a winner! It was totally A-mazing! The planning with the owner Mike was easy and painless. He understood what we wanted and delivered. Our waiter Paul and busboy Henry kept everyone happy throughout the party. The party room was comfortably air conditioned, despite the heat. Now onto the delicious food. It was beautifully served with enough time in between to enjoy each course. The platters of appetizers, mini flat bread pizzas, garlic knots were all superb and plentiful. Everyone enjoyed the freshly made salads. Penne a la vodka disappeared quickly off of our plates. Now onto to the entrees. One of the guests informed us at the last minute that she was gluten free. No problem here. They easily handled that curve ball and hit a home run. Her meal was made especially for her and she said it was scrumptious. Guests commented that the vegetables served with the entrees were fresh and sautéed with sliced garlic. Yum. All entrees were enjoyed or brought home because the portions were so big or they needed to save room for desserts. It is all these minor details that they handle so well that makes this place 5 star in my book. We brought retirement cakes and Italian pastries. But this package was delicious from start to finish and even included home made tiramisu. ( which I enjoyed more than the bakery products!) Don't tell my sister, but do stop by and enjoy SaVinos! This wasn't where I was expecting to go for dinner. I really was planning on having pizza at another place we eat all the time when I'm in New York. My aunt and uncle wanted to go here instead, and I was excited to try some place new or at least new for me. It was a quiet night except for the bar. It was ladies' night, and the bar was full of single ladies. We started with bread, a facacha with sauce spread on top, and some plain bread. Both were so delicious that I had more than I should have. My aunt and uncle shared a meal and a salad, chicken pizziaola. It was chicken, pepper, mushrooms, and onions in a dark colored sauce, and it looked really good. I had chicken picata. It's chicken with artichokes and capers served in a lemon wine sauce. Other than the sauce could have been a little bit thicker. It had really good sour lemony taste. I also got it with a side of penne. It was good, too. I'm glad they wanted to here. This business is kept very clean, it's actually a pizzeria / restaurant that's located across from Lynbrook High School which makes it a busy place during school hours though I generally do takeout during evenings or have delivery to my home in Hewlett. The Chicken & Shrimp Parmesan Hero's Ive had were excellent, very fresh & tasty," soups are really good too. Not yet had a main course that was anything less than excellent. It's funny how there's pizzeria restaurants like this out there that's better food than fancy dine in restaurants, go figure. I like this business staff is cool never an attitude, they have a variety of excellent pizza and serve excellent food at prices that are reasonable. I was recently at Salvino's to celebrate my birthday. This was my first time there, and I was promised both delicious Italian cuisine as well as live music. Salvino's delivered on both promises! It was fairly crowded, but that would be expected on a Saturday at 6:30 pm, actually it would be suspect if it were not filled up at that time. I decided to go with the calamari with Fra Diavolo sauce and I choose linguini as my noodle. The pasta dish was delicious and the sauce was quite spicy, which is to my liking. From someone who likes spice and seeks it out, take my word that the sauce was quite spicy. I did notice beads of sweat forming on my forehead! The only thing I would change with the meal itself would be the calamari. I prefer when it's not just the loops but also the tentacles mixed in. Not sure if I'm in the minority for that particular choice, but I've always felt that a mixture is better. The portions were quite large as I did wrap up a part of my meal, this is a rarity for me. Service was quick and friendly, even for a busy Saturday night. I enjoyed the entertainment which was a one-man band of sorts, playing classic soft rock hits. I found myself and the rest of my party singing along several times. I did not sample the wine as I was driving this night even though it was a birthday celebration. Over all Salvinos is a great place for a nice Saturday night dinner or a family friendly celebration. I hope to visit again soon! read more

We just landed in NY and my aunt and uncle asked if we were up for Italian food. Ha ha ha we are always up for Italian food. We landed here, as my family has had some good experiences there so here we are. Half of the restaurant is a pizzeria and the other half is a restaurant with a huge bar area and a party room. We ended up in the party room since they were busy. Food: My mother and kid shared the chicken parmigiana. It looked delicious and they both enjoyed it. I ate a little of the spaghetti and it was very tasty. My husband had a chicken/eggplant dish with a brown sauce and mozzarella. He didn't leave a drop over. He also had the minestrone soup. It was tasty. My uncle had the eggplant special. He requested no cheese or truffle oil. It was also very tasty as I had a bite. He had the pasta fagoli soup. It was amazing. I know because I stole 1/2 of it. His food came with mixed veggies and those looked nicely cooked. My aunt had the eggplant parmigiana without cheese. It was okay. I thought the eggplant could have been cooked a tad longer but the sauce was delicious. I know because I had a bite. I had the rigatoni tres funghi. It was Marsala sauce with shiitake, portabella, and button mushrooms over...wait for it...rigatoni pasta. It was delicious! I also had a chopped salad. They salad was fresh, filled with cucumber, tomato, olives and a little onion with balsamic vinaigrette on the side. The bread service was very good. A loaf bread and a pizzaish focaccia bread. The service was amazing. The servers aimed to please and honestly I worried about being seated in the party room because I thought we'd be forgotten. We were not. We had amazing service. (Yes I said it twice). The manager came over to let us we could exit the party room door since my mom had a walker and it would be easier. I was a little surprised to see single stall bathrooms based on how many people could dine. The portion sizes are huge and really could be eaten family style. Out with the old and in with the new! Savino's recently replaced the tried and true Elegante pizza on Atlantic Ave. New owners, new food and a needed new face-lift have accompanied this Italian style transformation. Additionally, they have a cozy looking wine bar tucked in the corner of the restaurant. The renovated interior and equipment look absolutely immaculate. In fact, the counters are so sparkling clean that even grandma would probably lick a few breadcrumbs off of it. Their service and staff needs a little help. They're brand spanking new and understandably working out the kinks so hopefully the guys who run the show get with the program. They were all helpful but seemed exceedingly flustered trying to figure out who ordered what, where this is, what so-and-so is doing, YO MIKEEEE!!, fixing our order, etc. What should have been a quick pickup turned into quite an ordeal. Again, the staff was very helpful, fixed the order and apologized. The most important factor here, the food, was pretty solid. Holy Mozzarella! Sureeeee, everyone says they use "fresh" mozzarella BUT the definition of "fresh" runs the gamete of a bad-mouthing 3 day old slice to mouth-gasimly good slice made that day that melts without heat. Savino's mozz was pretty close to the latter. Made in house and pretty awesome-sauce all the way, it was generously found in my eggplant paninni. It seems like they also use the pizza dough to make the bread for the paninni as well. That's dedication my friends, delicious dedication.The minestrone soup was probably the best I've ever had the pleasure of touching my lips to. I admit I've only had it from a can but I wont go back to the aluminum again after tasting it. I Promise. Their salad slices look pretty over the top and they have a "Drunken Grandma" pizza on the menu. Must try - both of them. I don't know about the other reviews but this is in regards to the SALADS! Seriously they have some of the best salad options I have ever tried. They use different types of greens and awesome topping combinations and it always taste so so fresh. The best part by far is the dressing, it's a creamy balsamic and I have no idea how they do it but wow it tastes great. Some of my favorite salads: Pear Salad, Pecan Salad (ultimate favorite), Mango salad, and the avocado salad! As for the service: I have dined in here only a few times but the staff is always super sweet and service is quick! I see that people have issues in regards to delivery but I usually pick up so I can't comment on that! Overall I have had a positive experience each time and the food is very fresh! Can't comment on pizza slices as I haven't had one in years there. I will definitely be coming back as it's the only place I can actually enjoy eating a salad ! read more

My family and I have been going to SaVino's since it first opened. I probably order take out from here at least once every two week because it's so close and it really never disappoints! My favorite thing to get for take out is the avocado salad with grilled chicken! Its sooo delicious and the chicken is cooked perfectly! I also enjoy the grilled chicken Panini which comes on a nice garlic bread bun which makes it even better!!! Many times for pizza we get a regular pie and sometimes add broccoli as it's a family favorite for toppings! The pizza is always delicious!! Just last week we finally came and ate dinner here! There were 6 of us on a Friday night but we were seated and helped right away! The service was very attentive and helpful and our food was brought out within a decent time! We ordered hot appetizers which were awesome and everyone ordered a different dish for dinner, from Pasta with pesto to chicken francese, all of us left stuffed and even had leftovers to bring home!! I just bought a pizza pie, 1/2 regular and margarita. The pizza was excellent, right consistency, texture, taste. I can't believe it's been around for years and this is my first time trying the pizza. I also ordered a Caesar salad which was just okay, nothing special. I did like how they put the salad dressing on the side (which 1 neglected to mention) so I was pleased. However, the salad was just alright and nothing stood out. I did notice and did not appreciate chunks of heads of lettuce in the salad. I also noticed some of the pieces of lettuce were not exactly fresh either. read more

A favorite spot of my parents and myself, any chance to get over and visit Tony is an evening well spent. The back area has a modern, well appointed bar, where Tony the Wine Guy greets you with bar snack mix and ice water, excited to tell you about his newest wine acquisition - he is not shy about offering samples, and will give you 5 or 8 if you need them before you make your choice. The wine pours are generous, the Cosmos are always consistent and on point, and the conversation is always genuine and unobtrusive. On the food side, there is plenty of foccacia in breadbaskets to get your carb overload started, and always more at the ready to soak up the fantastic sauces made in house for their specialty dishes. Rigatoni alla vodka always comes out al dente and flavorful, Chicken Francese is thick and tasty, and Shrimp Parm sneaks in as a major player. I love their gnocchi made in house, but ALWAYS check the nightly specials because there will ultimately be something there that will make you say "I have to have that!" The wife went here last week with a friend and came home raving about it, so naturally I was itching to dig in. Fortunately, friends invited us over for dinner last night (and insisted on buying, Grazie=)) so I was very happy. I was even happier when we picked up the food. This is the old Elegante, although there was nothing Elegant about Elegante, Santorini's definitely opened it up, cleaned it up, and is doing it right. We didn't get any dinners, but we did get a pie with some toppings (which were excellent, and in abundance), Calamari (which for take out was also very good, and the sauce they served with it was actually amazing, I loved it) and a salad. I also have to highlight that the meatball on the pizza was actually delicious, I was impressed. I can't speak for the wife, but she raved about her meal when she went, and I have a few other friends who can't stop talking about the place, so based on my take-out experience and armed with the chatter...I can't wait to go back!!! read more
