Came here on a Friday night with a few friends after one of them suggested this place, and I was beyond happy with the food and service! The menu wasn't overwhelming, and there were definitely many amazing options to choose from. We ended up getting the grilled octopus and burrata as starters for our table. The burrata I felt was the most underwhelming dish out of all the ones we had ordered as the bread underneath was toasted to the point that we couldn't really cut it or chew it because it was so crispy/stale and I think I would pass on this dish. The grilled octopus though? Phenomenal. I would highly recommend getting it as an appetizer for the table as the flavours of each component was just amazing and the octopus itself was perfectly seasoned and not overcooked. For entrees, we decided to share 2 pastas and a pizza and they were all amazing as well. I believe the pizza we had ordered was a spicy vodka pizza, and the crust was nice and thin and crispy, but still held up which is what I love! One of the pastas we had ordered was a ragu bolognese which was wonderful, but I think the star of the entrees was the Friday pasta special! It was tortellini in a mushroom cream sauce with lobster and other seafood and I loved how the tortellini's flavour didn't overpower the dish at all. For dessert, we ordered the cannoli cheesecake and the baked apple tart , and the apple tart definitely blew us all away! It was nice and hot on the skillet, and the flavour of the apple filling with the flaky pie/tart pastry was so delicious, especially with a bit of the melting ice cream on top! have been to novitá in garden city maybe half a dozen times, and also ordered delivery around the same. overall the food is definitely solid.. especially once you find your staple dishes. mine is the braised short rib pasta, and my partner's go-to is the rigatoni alla vodka. whether we're dining in or ordering out, those two are always consistent.. super flavorful and reliably good. their pizzas are also pretty solid, but definitely better in-person. they use quality ingredients, but the pies don't travel great, so i wouldn't recommend them for delivery. we've sampled a bunch of their apps, and honestly weren't blown away when we tried branching out.. things like the sliders, arancini, or clams didn't really hit for us. i also get the sense seafood might not be their strength. wouldn't recommend the pappardelle with lobster or the black linguine with octopus.. both sounded great on paper but were kind of underwhelming flavor-wise. overall though, if you stick to the pasta classics and dine in when you can, novitá delivers a pretty reliable and tasty experience. oh side note, after a certain time of night on fridays/saturdays.. it might get a bit loud and party-ish if that's your vibe. nevertheless service is good and friendly. read more

Attended a work event on a Wednesday evening. Novita has a lower level private room that accommodated about 50 people. The event was a wine training for Brand Ambassadors. I can confidently say that I have catered from and dined at Novita on more than a dozen occasions in the last two years. I have been consistently met with the same level of professionalism, food and value every single time I have dined here. When going down the list of star ratings, I am always wary of leaving 5 stars for each category for any restaurant, but I am surely not wary for Novita. This last dining experience on 4/25/26 was rather exceptional, compelling me to leave this review. We were a group of 5, meeting after months, and catching up on a busy Saturday evening. Pleasant service from our waiter, who had great knowledge of the menu. Their wine selection never fails. I indulged in a few glasses of Cab that did not yield any headache or hangover. Outstanding charcuterie board (I believe it was the Grand Board), with an actual assortment of meats, cheeses and nuts. Boards are usually the biggest let down in restaurants, but here, it stands out. Our other appetizer, the calamari, was well flash fried and not overcooked. Incredible is the only word I can use to describe the lobster papardelle. Fresh lobster, amazing al dente pasta and flavorful cream sauce cooked to perfection. Days later and I am still dreaming of it. To seal it all off was the Nutella Creme Brulee. As a creme brulee lover, I wondered how this was even possible to pull off. I was not impressed. Mid week lunch, very few people in the restaurant, bartender took the orders instead of a designated wait staff. The place is very nice, great ambiance for dinner or get together with friends. However, the water glasses at our table were absolutely filthy, and I'm not talking residue from the dishwasher- huge greasy fingerprints and also stained silverware. The food was just okay- from the plain tasting buratta to caesar salad with overly sweet croutons; cheese tortellini with chicken and spinach were almost perfect though. The most bizarre food item I have ever had was the lobster sliders- I was very confused by the mixture combination, brioche buns were stale and not warm as indicated and the seasoned fries were almost inedible. My cousin had her birthday brunch here on a beautiful day we were able to sit outside and enjoy. While we were outside they did have a private event going on inside but were able to fully accommodate us with great service. We all started with mimosas which came in these large glasses which would prevent us to keep asking the waitress for a refill over and over. They gave us muffins and bread to the table. I ordered for appetizer the caprese salad which was good, my cousin got the creamy basil whipped ricotta and it was really good. For my entree I got the rigatoni with shrimp I thought it was decent I do think that they have a lot more to offer here. They do not sell burgers which my boyfriend did want. It's been years since I visited Novita. Arriving on a Friday night the place was bustling and it was pretty much a full house; definitely make a reservation. Seating is comfortable, the ambiance feels special, but also casual. Music playing in the background, but hearing conversations with your table mates was easy. Note that after 9, the music changes to a clubby versions..shots, sots, shots, shots..... The wait staff was lovely and attentive. I love their extensive wine list, with loads of great by the glass options to choose from. We started off with a couple of apps for the table; the Spinach and artichoke dip was served with homeade potato chips and it was fabulous. So creamy and tasty and served above a tealight candle to keep it warm and gooey. The fried artichoke hearts with a lemon aioli were also delicious. I opt'd for the Rigatoni Ragu as my entree, it was hearty and enjoyable. While my eyes called it small when it was set down in front of me, it was anything but and super robust filled with meatballs and sausage. We ended the meal with coffee (which was bold and hot) and some zeppoles with were served piping hot and just scrumptious. The sides were bland and didn't help the dish at all. What made it worse was the price. For what they charge for this entrée, I expected a quality steak and solid execution. Instead, it felt like I didn't get what I paid for, which is frustrating--especially since everything leading up to the entrée had been good. The menu description was misleading, and for a restaurant at this level, that's unacceptable. Everyone else at the table seemed satisfied with their meals, so maybe I just got an off plate--but mine stood out in a bad way. The entrance to this Italian restaurant and "enoteca" (wine) bar is from the huge parking lot servicing several restaurants and businesses just west of Franklin Avenue in Garden City. On a Sunday evening, we didn't really need the reservation we had, but there was a crowd. My wife complained about the cold air, so they nicely shut off the fan. The drinks we ordered were reasonable, only $3 for a soda and $8 for a beer on tap. All the entrées were good, but sometimes a bit pricey and not very generous. My son got the best deal with the Chicken Parm for $25, a thick but well-cooked breast, nicely breaded and not too much mozzarella cheese on top, very moist on the inside and helped by almost swimming in a pomodoro sauce. My wife got the sea scallops (only six) for $36, over a corny orzo. I got a bowl of linguine with large shrimps (only five in what seemed like a mild scampi sauce) for $28. The grilled octopus appetizer was very good, but expensive at $29. The Wild Arugula salad at $16 tasted fine, but there were only a minimal amount of ingredients (poached pears, sun-dried cherries, gorgonzola spiced pecans) besides the arugula. The food itself is good and the portions are reasonable. I got the bolognese and the pasta was a little undercooked/too Al dente for my liking. My friend got the cavatelli and it was a bit salty, but good. Service is decently passed and staff is friendly. Overall it's average. There is certainly much worse . I've dined here for a regular dinner service and also had my baby shower here as an event. The service was great both by the staff and working with the event management team. The event management team answered any questions we had in an efficient manner. They also gave us plenty of time to set up the room for our event. The in house catering has plenty of options for your event to cater to your budget. They have the menus available on their website. There are three rooms you can choose to have your event in (main dining room, private downstairs room and the lounge. It's best to book early to be sure to get the room you want for your event. The lounge holds the most amount of guests while the private room holds the least. The private room also is not handicap accessible, so something to keep in mind if you have guests who cannot go up or down the stairs. For our event we did a buffet brunch in the main dining room, so everyone can try a little bit of everything that they offer. It was a mix of breakfast and lunch items. I really liked the vodka rigatoni which had a nice creamy tomato based sauce. The pasta is cooked just the right doneness. There was also the tomato mozzarella frittata and French toast which was really good too. For dessert we opted for the cookies and cannolis which was equally delicious with the cannolis having a smooth creamy filling and a shell which a nice crunch. They have a bottomless brunch of the weekends that is fantastic and a ladies night on Thursdays and Happy Hour on the weekdays until 7pm (which is great since many HH are until 6pm). I visited Novita with a friend for a late lunch in February. We dined in the heated outdoor enclosed patio which was at a nice warm temperature, especially with the sun. The gluten-free menu was handy since my friend is following a gluten-free diet. I got the black linguine with charred octopus. Octopus was cooked perfectly and was quite plentiful throughout the dish. It did a good job taking in the flavor of the sauce and retaining its own. The sauce was tomato based and spicy (in both heat and flavor) with guanciale pancetta. The spice level was just right for me, a 3.5/5, where you can feel the warmth, but not enough to cause a runny nose. I enjoyed finding the thin slices of guanciale pancetta weaved within the linguine strands. It was richer than normal pancetta as it is sourced from the pig cheek versus the belly. Pasta was average, al dente and a good vehicle for the sauce. I chose the French fig cocktail which was a good for lunch as it was not too heavy. The fig and pineapple worked well together. It would qualify as one of those dangerous drinks that's easy to consume before feeling the full effects. Finished the meal with a nutella crème brûlée. There was a healthy layer of caramelized sugar on top that was satisfying to crack with the back of a spoon. Dined in "lower dining room". Service and ambience 1/2 what it is on main level. Hot appetizers arrived cold. Could not find waiter to address. Just ate some and left rest over. Apps were Baked clams and fried artichoke hearts. One Entree arrived hot and the other cold. When the cold one arrived re-heated the hot entree had been finished. Manager asked if I wanted grated cheese on my pasta. I responded yes but he never returned with or without grated cheese. Had to ask for refilled water glasses. Cocktails came from upstairs bar and took way way too long to be served. Food and service much better previously but that was in the main floor dining room. Might and might not try again. 3 stars because the food that was hot was tasty. read more

Large parking lot shared with neighboring restaurants and stores. My friend and I were provided with 2-course brunch menus, but we confirmed with our waiter that the dishes can each be ordered individually as a single-course meal. The brunch menus seem to be for weekends. I learned that portions for dishes at Novita are not particularly large but they're sufficient. My cavatelli pasta with sweet and spicy sausage was so flavorful! My friend and I also liked the appetizer; they were tiny but thick slices of corn bread, one loaf with blueberries and the other with cranberries. Yum! While we enjoyed our brunch in the middle of Novita, the front of the restaurant was sectioned off for a birthday celebration. This was nicely done with curtains for the party's privacy as far as what can be seen, not so much what can be heard (but this wasn't an issue at all - nice to hear merriment!). Very lovely ambiance. I wasn't impressed with the amount of food you get or the portion sizes, but the quality of the food was certainly there. read more

Came here with my family to celebrate my birthday and everything was amazing. We started with the fondue appetizer - shared it between the four of us and it was delicious. I ordered my favorite: chicken parm with vodka sauce and penne. It is my go to and it was definitely one of the best. very flavorful Everyone else loved their food too. The branzino was flavorful and cooked perfectly. The black linguine with Calabrian peppers had the perfect kick and flavorful and the Sicilian chicken was great and perfectly cooked There was a small situation that came up during dinner and the way the staff handled it was perfect. We weren't looking for anything but just to inform the restaurant. Both the server and manager came over, apologized, and they ended up comping two drinks, my chicken parm, and even brought out a dessert on the house. It was way more than we expected, and it really showed how much they care about their guests having a great experience. Food was incredible, great atmosphere, great service. The wine options are limitless. The cabernet on the happy hour menu was delicious. I enjoyed way too many cheesy goodies for happy hour, but I enjoyed most the meatball sliders and the margarita pizza. Service was great and they're always very clean in there.
