All of wu medicine has a help desk call center. It is absolute trash. The people that answer the calls have no idea what im trying to contact my doctor or care team about and forward incorrect or bad information. They always get it wrong and make what im trying to do 100 times harder. When you complain in person they give a phone to call it the same garbage system. No one is willing to address or talk about the issue. Great doctors as long as you dont need to talk to them over the phone. read more

I've been coming here for years now and i'm not sure why the ratings are so low. The front desk, nurses, and primary care doctors are all very nice and very helpful. The quality of care is 10/10. They've helped me get more comfortable with explaining and expressing myself, I have social anxiety so they've been extremely helpful with that. I started coming to the Shoreline branch of UW Medicine when I was in elementary school. I regularly came here through high school and then off and on while attending University. The handful of doctors (pediatricians and physicians) I have had here over the years have been strong, only one stands out at having particularly poor people skills. It was convenient that blood samples could be taken at this location, it meant we didn't have to run to some other location if they needed to test me for something. The only time I had to go to various locations in regards to medicine was before I moved to Africa in 2012 to study abroad. I did my pre-trip screening here and they were helpful in pointing me to other facilities that provided the specific tests/medications/vaccines I needed before I left that UW Medicine did not offer. Wait times can be quiet long. We found that going later in the day typically meant longer wait times, so would try to schedule earlier in the day when we could. The waiting room is large, there is comfortable seating, a fish tank to be mesmerized by, and a children's area where they can play. Still feels like an appendage of home for me. read more

It's been hard to find a good doctor these days. I had a wellness exam with Dr Anita Chopra. She spent less than a minute with me. The time she spent in the room with me was to write a note to charge me on top of my wellness exam which was not covered by insurance. The after visit note was copied from my previous years because she didn't ask me any questions and no information was updated on this visit. The only note she wrote was to get paid on top of my wellness exam note. It clearly shows that she didn't care about her patients and this is just for the additional money. read more

HORRIBLE! HORRIBLE! HORRIBLE! The only thing they are good for is checking vitals and weight. I had a SEVERE urinary tract infection with terrible pain and a high fever. They make you go through a "care coordinator" to determine if I deserve to speak with a nurse who will then ask all of the same questions to determine if they want to allow me to leave a urine sample. I was in fierce pain and desperately needed antibiotics but they made me wait DAYS!!! They DON'T CARE! THIS is why they have only a 2 star rating. I wouldn't take my dog here. read more

At 1:30 I decided I'd have to reschedule if a simple blood draw would take more than 30 minutes and I don't have all afternoon. It turns out there's a separate waiting area for lab work and I was never told. They just watched me sit there and wait for no reason. So now I have to waste a second afternoon to go back because they couldn't give a simple direction to a patient. read more

I went to UW Medicine Shoreline for an appointment after UW Medicine Woodinville had no openings for a last minute appointment. The staff at UW Shoreline clearly understands the importance of customer service and making sure patients feel comfortable, welcome and have their medical questions/ needs met. My doctor (Dr. Patni) spent an exceptional amount of time with me, listening to my concerns and making sure she understood what brought me to her office today. She was very quick to follow up on lab results and even partnered with another specilaist while I was in her waiting room to clarify a test procedure result. I truly appreciate it when a medical professional is OK with saying they dont know and will reach out to another medical doctor for assistance for a complex issue. I would highly recommend Dr. Patni and the UW Medical Center Shoreline staff for their excellencle in this doctor visit. Although, UW Woodinville is much closer to my house, if UW Shoreline is ever offered as a location to be seen at again for a PCP visit, I would be happy to go back. read more

My husband and I are fussy - he's a retired physician and I'm a retired nurse-midwife. We've been quite pleased with the UW Shoreline clinic, and also appreciate UW's ecare: on line access to our records, test results, and the ability to contact our physicians on line for non-urgent matters. We also have been very pleased with their referral system for surgery, PT, dermatology, nephrology, where the care has been excellent. We have always found the staff to be friendly and helpful. I hope that our experience is not influenced by the fact we have very good insurance - I think not, but... It's sad to read negative views that are so different from our own, altho perhaps folks are more likely to complain than to be empathetic with the pressures of being health care providers these days. And no doubt Shoreline staff - like all of us - make mistakes sometimes. read more

I used to really like this clinic and still love my doctor. But the quality of care is dropped drastically in the last couple of years. My "Care Team" is a joke. They overcharged me for a wellness visit (talk about padding the bill!!) and they are going to take 120 days to review it. I also can't be my migraine meds refilled as no one seems capable of actually writing an appropriate prescription. Then they don't return calls to the Pharmacy with the required info. I am now on my 3rd attempt to try to get a correctly written prescription. How hard can it be? Copy what the original prescription said! I can think of a lot of other things to call my "Care Team" but I suspect Mom would rise from the grave to wash my mouth out with soap if I verbalize those thoughts! read more

I see providers both here in Shoreline and at Northgate clinics. I have received dedicated, attentive care by the doctors that really seem to care about me. I've gone through a difficult time recently and I have really felt that I had a solid team behind me working to see me through. UW Medicine and UW hospital clinics are going to be more expensive, that's just all there is to it. You are paying for some of the best of the best, and for the clinic overhead, etc. I justify it as having committed, qualified clinicians to provide quality care. I've seen some of the complaints about front desk staff dressing/acting unprofessionally at times. Yes, I've noticed it a few times too, but honestly it doesn't matter to me. The majority of the time that's not the case, and I'm more concerned with how the providers are. They could wear bunny suits all day, I don't care, just as long as they're providing quality care. Also the clinic posts that if you have a serious injury you should go to the hospital or call 911. They are not fully equipped to deal with some conditions as a hospital might be. So to the woman who complained that it was inexcusable to have waited 4 hours for her severe leg pain ... um maybe you should have gone directly to the ER. I'd be surprised if the staff didn't suggest it to you. There are some short comings from time to time, but overall I really like and appreciate the quality of care I've received at both clinics and am more than happy to pay the extra money to have providers that are committed to my health and well being. I've visited this facility twice over the last three years. The most recent was last week after getting a gnarly infection. Upon entry, I was quickly processed and taken to a room for evaluation. I spent maybe 5 minutes in the waiting area. Dr. Emmons was courteous and quick with his assessment. With a diagnosis, I was sent to the pharmacy for some meds. Now that infection is nearly gone. read more

I work at another area hospital and am trying to make a follow up appt in UW Cardiology a patient we are seeing. I called at 12:15pm and was put on hold. I finally spoke to a call center rep 20 min later, but then he had to transfer me to the care team of the clinic because he said he couldn't see their schedule to make an appt. It is now 1:49pm (one hour and 34 minutes from when I started) and I am still on hold. Usually if you are calling from another doctor's office with an urgent referral, you get transferred directly through, however that has not been the case. Even if I weren't from another doctor's office, 1.5 hours on hold to make a simple appt is ridiculous for anyone. I am not a patient of UW, but if this is how difficult it is to get scheduled then I guarantee I will go elsewhere in the future read more

Not only did I not get a proper exam, she revoked a medication order that would help my pain because she found out I was filing a complaint about her. The assistant manager was absolutely no help when I called to complain. I saw Dr. Chopra (not my usual PCP) three days ago for severe back pain. She had me sit on the exam table and point to where it hurt but did no further examination and stated she didn't feel it was necessary for imaging. She prescribed me two medications and walked out the door literally in the middle of my question. I also didn't receive my immunization records, doctor note or my flu shot that I had requested at the beginning of the appointment. I called the office later to ask about my unanswered questions that she walked out on and they said they would call me back. They called and said that the doctor recommended I see a spine specialist, she again did not address my questions including my concern that the pain was worsening. This back and forth went on several more times in the middle of my work day. They called again stating that she had prescribed a new medication to help with pain. STILL she did not answer my questions. I voiced my frustration to the medical assistant who then said she would pull the doctor out of the room. She came back and said "the doctor actually changed her mind, since you were so unhappy with your visit she does not want to prescribe the new medication and recommends you see someone else." So my only option is to continue to be in pain until I can be seen by another doctor even though I already paid her to do the job??? read more

I am 88 years old and have been a patient at this clinic for six years. I have the highest regards and respect for Dr. Sarah Roskam. I know she sincerely cares for me and I feel confident in her decisions for my well being. Her relaxed style makes me comfortable and easy to express concerns. My partner and me went to several doctors there. The one she chose seem to be the most popular, Dr. Simpson. But one year she botched my partner's pap smear and didn't even call her to ask if she would come back to do it again. They were going to double charge her insurance eventhough it was their fault. Also, I went to Dr. Padni. She was abrasive and didn't really look at me. I now am dealing with a chronic back problem (she thought was a strain and I should be back at work after 2 weeks!) These aren't really doctors. They are like a fast food drive-thru doctor. Go see them if you have a cold, but not for anything more. read more

Appointments: Often times difficult to make - they can be booked up for weeks. Wait time: Not bad - usually only have to wait 10-15 min Service: Nurses are very nice. Doctors - My son and I have seen several including Dr. Patni & Dr. Jenkins. Dr. Jenkins was okay - didn't make a lot of eye contact because she was entering information on the computer most of the time - but didn't have any health problems at the time to ask her about. Went to Dr. Patni and another female Dr. - both didn't do a very good job of listening to me - assumed I had such and such a problem and ordered a of tests when I was sure it wasn't the case. I was right. Recommendation: If you have health problems that you want looked at, don't go here. If you only want a check-up and there's nothing wrong with your health, then this is a convenient place to go. read more

DO NOT COME HERE!!!!! Yuck! Not impressed. Waited 25 minutes in the waiting room. The clinic manager just happened to interview us about our customer satisfaction, and explained to us how her staff makes sure to tell patients why they are waiting, how long...except for us apparently! The nurse was borderline inappropriate. She did not answer questions ("what was my temp?"), wrong side of the body ("I don't think it's my appendix, isn't that on the right side?"), and attempted to make a diagnosis without any real information (out of her scope of practice). Overall, we waited 50 minutes before seeing the doctor. The doctor was very awkward and had no real interest in providing a diagnosis (even with many followup emails). Unbelievable! I've been going to UW Medicine ever since I was a child. My pediatrician, Marion Folkemer, was great; I saw her until the day I turned 18 and it's been downhill since. I've jumped from doctor to doctor and never felt particularly cared for. If you are a new patient, let me tell you: there's a reason available doctors are open to taking new patients. All the docs worth seeing are NOT taking new patients. I have been growing increasingly frustrated with my experience here. I have been now waiting almost two weeks for the results of a simple blood test. My takeaway: I'm transferring to Swedish medicine after this and I suggest you do the same. read more

I have been coming here on and off since I went away to college in 2004. I usually have a great experience here and the doctors and PA's are great. However, today I came in to try out the urgent care because I woke up not feeling to great. When I arrived, at 11:20 am, I saw the sign that said you can't check in until 11:45. So I went and had a seat in the waiting room. There was one person who had arrived before me. They announced that they would start checking people in, so I got up to wait in line behind the one person ahead of me. As I'm in line one of the front desk women calls the woman behind me to check her in. This woman tells her that I was first and the lady at the desk tells her they were keeping track and that I was not next. When I'm finally checked in, I alert them to the fact that I was the second one here and have been waiting since 11:20..... That seems not to matter. I am now the fourth person to be seen and I have to wait for hours before I can be seen. Because I decided to read the sign that directed patients to wait until 11:45 to check in, rather than making my presence known by asking someone a question that was clearly answered if you can read, I got stuck waiting hours. People that waltzed in much later than I did got service right away. What really pisses me of is that I brought attention to the fact that I had been here before other people, so did another woman, and nothin was done. read more

My family and I have been coming here for 20 years. Yep, you read that right, 20 years. My son was 4 months old when I transferred his care here. Man, I miss those days! Dr. Jean Gruver was his pediatrician, words can not express how much I loved her! My husband came here, all three of my kids, I came here. For everything from ADHD issues, to diverticulitis, to boring routine care. I watched the clinic change from a small clinic, to one with a day spa pushing Botox, to the current one with the urgent care...for the last 10 years, I've commuted to Shoreline from Everett because I loved this clinic. That changed. I'm done. Being the ridiculously loyal person I am, this is a big deal, after all, the lab techs cried with me while drawing blood from my infant while testing for a life threatening disease... My youngest has asthma. He's 12, it's severe enough that he's been hospitalized twice for it. His pediatrician, Dr. Folkemer has been his prescribing his asthma meds for YEARS. He ended up at Children's hospital back in September for his asthma, they released him, and had us follow up with Dr. Folkemer and the pulmonary clinic at children's. We did both. A few months later, he needs refills of his Asthma and allergy medication, the pharmacist sends a request to Dr. Folkemer, she wants to see him. I bring him in, she refills the meds and tells me I should take him to the pulmonary clinic at children's and Northwest Asthma and Allergy. She continues to tell me that she doesn't feel comfortable treating asthma "that severe" and that he has "permanent lung damage". Well, that's a bit scary. So I take him to Northwest Asthma and Allergy. They were awesome, did lung function tests and allergy testing. He's allergic to everything but 2 indoor molds, Yep that's my kid! They recommended allergy shots, we started those and "please see your PCP for continued allergy and asthma meds, we will send over a report of our findings and game plans". I took him to Children's pulmonary clinic and they repeated lung function tests, we talked to the pulmonologist. She couldn't find anywhere in the chart notes where it referred to "permanent lung damage". She said he's recovered very well, she saw no need to him to come back to any clinics at Children's hospital and actually said " your pediatrician should continue his care, there's no need to come back here, your treatment plan is exactly what I would recommend". So we go get allergy shots once a week, see just a medical assistant for those. Children's doesn't need to see us, and we are close to out of the albuterol inhaler, an asthmatic kid's literal life line. I request a refill from the pharmacy, no big deal, right? Well...I get the "we need to get authorization from the doctor". Okay, been through this routine before, no big deal, right? Three weeks go by, I hear nothing. Inhaler is gone! I go into the pharmacy, they need to request an refill authorization, okay, what happened to the first time? Ok, whatever. Well, I'm a mom, I'm going to do what I've got to do to make sure my kid can BREATHE...we aren't talking acne cream here. Luckily my husband had a bad case of bronchitis a couple months ago, and SCORE, a refill left on his inhaler! So I'm waiting for my kid's refill and two weeks go by and I get a voicemail from Dr. Folkemer's assistant. Dr. Folkemer doesn't want to refill my child's asthma nor allergy prescriptions because she feels that medications for these ailments should be given by the same doctor, "it will be easier for me to keep track of them". Ummm.... okay, that's what we are doing, YOU ARE THE ONLY ONE PRESCRIBING MEDICATIONS. Both clinics said to follow the current medications with his PCP, and now she's not prescribing them. In a panic, I call the clinic, I'm on hold for 20 minutes before I get a live person, it's 5:50, I go through the whole story, they go to transfer me to "Cassandra" who did the chart notes in my son's file, but Kathy left me the voicemail...so who's Cassandra?!? It's now 5:56, the woman at the call center goes to transfer me...yup, the clinic "shut off" their phones a few minutes early. Gee, thanks guys. I'm now half an hour into this phone call with someone who can not help me. She takes a note to return my call, even though "the chart notes say they are going to try you again tomorrow". I work full time, I gave her my availability, before 9:30 and during my lunch from 2:00-3:00, or after 7:00 pm. Annnnddd you guessed it! It's 10:38 and no call, it's not that they didn't call during my availability, there is NO CALL AT ALL! There are 35 doses left on his inhaler, the smoke from the wildfires are brutal, and his soon to be ex-doctor can't return a phone call. Twenty years my family has trusted our health to UW Medicine, back when they were called UW Physicians. Twenty years I've spent developing a relationship with these doctors, these nurses, mesdical assistants and front desk and I can't even get a return call! read more

Waited on the phone for 20 mins and after telling him the reason for the call I was transferred to a company that sold insurance for pets and NOT to the UW!! The UW must use a phone answering service that obviously works with many companies and boy did this anger me. I called right back and the message still says it's a 20 minute wait to reach a clinic. They need to get more help and a BETTER answering company. I'm done with the UW. read more

The clinic has a nice atmosphere, the staff is very friendly, and it's located in it's own building next to Costco, which is a convenient and centralized location. They also have this whole e-care system set up, so you can manage everything online. I'm a huge fan of this. Dr. Simpson is the first doctor I've had in a long time that actually listens to me. She's great! I've seen some of the other doctors here, and while they've all been okay, none have been as great as Sarah Simpson. My only complaint is there's no room for urgent care/walk in. If you think you have strep or the flu or something, you're simply at the mercy of the scheduling, which means it could be a week before you see a doctor. To me, this is flawed. I give the clinic 3 stars, but Dr. Simpson 5. read more

I am so happy to be a patient of UW. I chose this clinic for my OB care when I became pregnant this year and I couldn't be happier with the level of care I have received. All the nurses are great, but especially my main contact Natalie. She is always so happy to answer any questions I may have by phone or email (as a first time pregnancy I have a lot) and always reassures me that my questions are valid. Dr. Shope has been a great doctor so far and I look forward to being in her care the rest of my pregnancy. She is always so quick to respond to emails and test results. This review goes beyond just the Shoreline clinic, I have also been to the Roosevelt radiology and labor and delivery at the hospital. I had good experiences at both and no one ever dismisses my concerns or shows anything other than the utmost concern for mine and my babies well-being. Thank you UW! read more

The so called team care is not helpful and I suppose it's because they have too many patients. I've waited on hold to talk to someone so many times and sometimes over an hour at a time when my health was very poor. I'm always redirected to someone else. There is always the general call center that filters the calls and then transfers yet again to another waiting game. It is so impersonal and lacking compassion for what individuals might be going through. Then I'm told to see the same doc but then they are not available for months. I had an excellent experience in the OBGYN department at the neighborhood UW Shoreline Clinic yesterday. Nurse Kat and Dr. Kremer are welcoming, efficient and kind. They are so considerate and so reassuring. All my needs and concerns were met with open arms and I was further impressed with their knowledge as well as the time they took to discuss concerns with me. University of Washington Medical Center discriminates against elderly and disabled. They refuse to put the person in a wheelchair on the exam table and will even write it down that it's against their policy. When the elderly person needs a bladder bag changed, they refuse to do it and state they don't have a bladder bag in the clinic. It seems they don't care if anyone is complained against, this continually happens but where else are wheelchair people supposed to get care from, I thought this is what doctors and nurses are paid to do? read more

This walk-in clinic is perennially backed up. I went by today because of an injury. Online it said there was an hour wait. When I got to the clinic about 10 mi tues later, I was told that was wrong and the wait was more than two hours. This is not the first time I've had that experience here. I've never had this problem with the Everett Clinic in Shoreline. Unfortunately my insurance has UW Medicine as provider. read more

The pro's - Online scheduling; multiple locations; lots of doctors. I see Dr. Shen, and I really liked her. I have seen Dr. Mbasa at the quick care center and I really liked her. The con's: Takes forever to get a regular visit (over a month to book out). You can go to the quick care, but it can be a VERY long wait. They are pretty much "strictly by the book", meaning there isn't much chit chat or bedside manner, especially by the medical assistants. Dr. Mbasa was more friendly, but both Dr. Shen and Dr. Mbasa are competent doctors. There are no male doctors at this location (but there are at the Richmond Beach location). I had to switch because of insurance provider, and so far it's working out. read more
