I needed to find a new place to get a Brazilian done. Seeing the reviews, I chose Eva. This was by far, the most painful Brazilian I've ever has done. The stinging and the soreness of the aftermath is still so painful. She kept commenting about how coarse the hairs were due to shaving. "If you shave, it will come back like a man's beard; dark and strong." Like okay... Not to mention, she does not use gloves. I've read in the reviews that this is to ensure the most clean and precise results, but I've been to plenty of aestheticians that used gloves and have gotten everything. Also, she decided to wax the inside of my nose without consent. I did not ask, the wax was stuck inside my nose before I even realised what it was for. Hours after the procedure, I've inspected the area and the skin looks like I burned it and blisters are forming. Which explains the continuous pain upon even moving. Still on a hunt for a quality waxer. I won't be coming back. Update: can confirm it was a burn. Area is peeling and still painful. read more

I have read the glowing reviews. I had the opportunity to try this location for myself and the quality and care of the wax job simply were not up to my standards and probably broke a few sanitation rules, too. Read On: Firstly, Eva is nice. There is nothing about her demeanor or her personality to complain of whatsoever. I called Eva before my appointment to ask if I could come in early. She stated that somehow my appointed got accidentally cancelled and it was good that I called (no kidding because I paid for parking and drove from the western suburbs). I met with Eva. I am use to a type of decorum when getting a wax. I'm allowed to get undressed privately and then the esthetician returns to the room. I get it, no use of being coy when undergoing a fairly intimate procedure to begin with, but I thought there was some type of tact needed. Eva just stayed in the room. I explained to Eva what I wanted and she strongly suggested something else. I didn't end up liking her suggestion and so we went with the next best alternative. She slipped on ripping the wax strip on 2 or 3 occasions. Let me tell you, I can only remember that happening to me once 7 years ago and it's just as painful then as it was that moment. She didn't even bother to ask if I was okay. And maybe this is minor. I'm a seasoned waxer and I could only help but think, if this was my first time...I'd run for the hills! This was probably what irritated me the most: i In the middle of my wax, she takes a PHONE CALL!! And proceeds to walk to her schedule book by the sink and discuss appointments. THEN, she places the phone on speaker and sets the phone between my legs on the table. No, I'm not making this up...I wish that I were! That's not sanitary and as I write this, I realized she hadn't washed her hands after handling the phone and her date book. Cross contamination to say the least. And why wasn't she wearing gloves? These questions are a little too late, but in the midst of everything it wasn't what I was initially thinking. And finally, those two things hadn't completely turned me off yet...what did it were the results. I ended up breaking out from her wax job and there were quite a few places where she missed hair. I was also much more sore than I can ever remember. I'm sure many of the women here write glowing reviews as a result of having an established relationship with Eva and/or love her VERY personable demeanor. For me, it's not worth the results. I can think of so many other excellent places to go. I wanted to see what all the hype was about and I am overly disappointed! Why not just one star? Eva's establishment is nice. There is a certain amount of trust needed when you allow someone to pour hot wax on your lady parts, Eva definitely earns that trust. She has a take charge attitude and tells you exactly what's gonna happen next. I'm not always in the mood to take orders, but I have no problem taking them from Eva. Not the least painful Brazilian I've ever had, but definitely the best. No ingrown hairs. None. At all. She's bikini wax magic. You're confident she knows what she's doing, because she does. For those of you who might be a little confused on Eva's technique let me lay it on the line: Eva gets down to the nitty gritty of your koochi. She is not a man your casually dating, she is not taking you out to dinner , and your not going to play shy and reserved with her....Eva don't play that. EVA's sole purpose is to LITERALLY get into your pants. The fact that some women are bitching about her not leaving the room while they change is mind boggling to me. Umm what do you expect when you're getting a brazilian.....either way eva is going to see your vagina at some point hello??!??! Eva does not use gloves because that is her preference. If you want gloves ask her and she will put them on. If she wears gloves the wax will stick to the latex and she prefers to not wear gloves because it allows her to feel for the ingrown hair that is underlaying the skin. No matter the case Eva washes her hands before and after each client multiple times. She places the paper found in medical offices where you lay down to get waxed and she is constantly replacing it after every client so its completely sanitary. Eva may make you do a weird position like a gymnast so that she can get into every crevice of your vagina to guarantee you have no strays or ingrown hair lingering. If it hurts then it works. Why is 0 stars not an option? I decided to give this place a shot because my regular waxist was on maternity leave and this place came highly recommended by one of my girlfriends. I saw it got stellar reviews from yelp so I thought why not? Within 2 minutes into the appt I thought, OMG. WTF did I just walk into. We get into the room and she tells me to take my clothes off while she's standing right there. Okay fine, I can handle that. We're women and I'm not embarrassed of my lady parts, whatever. So I do that, walk up to the table and see that there is a towel under the regular tissue paper with a HAIR ON IT. I think, okay just breathe. Do not freak out. I tell her and she changes it, we proceed. So now we begin. I was expecting her to explain to me her "special method" because I remember reading that from previous reviews, nope. She just went right at it which I was fine with. She starts the wax and I thought I felt bare hands and I look down AND SHE ISN'T WEARING ANY GLOVES. I'm sorry, but if you are working on women's lady parts shouldn't you be wearing gloves? I work in healthcare and I glove up in any and all instances so I just kept thinking what the f. The fact that she also has longer nails, wouldn't that be harboring bacteria? I just stared into the ceiling in utter disbelief. She tried carrying small talk but I just couldn't do any of it. I wanted this appt to be done asap so I can go home and shower. Other things that weren't so stellar: having me put my left leg up against the wall, when she got to my right leg she lifted it up and just threw it over her shoulder. What? Lastly, she noticed an ingrown and was really trying to dig it out even after I said it hurt and she should just let it be. Sigh. Finally the appt was over (thank goodness) and she had me sit up and she tossed a towel at me to wipe off the excess baby powder on my legs. I got dressed while she was still in the room and she started "cleaning u." I took my time because I wanted to see if she would change the towel under the paper cover, NOPE. Her phone also started ringing and she just answered like it was no big deal. Can we please have some professionalism here? Needless to say, I won't be returning and I am going to apologize to my regular waxist for not being loyal. I guess that's what I get for trying to save some money. If you're looking for some positives in this review, here are two: she tweezes out little strays which I appreciated and she only charged $50. I love it when I take a chance on something because of the Yelp reviews and they turn out to be 100% correct. Never had a Brazilian done before, so I was quite nervous. Eva made me feel completely comfortable from the moment I entered and had conversation with me the entire time. Now, I won't say it was painless, because, let's face it, that wouldn't be honest - but the fact that we had conversation throughout and she is hilarious, helped a great deal. She did an excellent job and pays close attention to stray hairs, if left behind - they will be plucked with tweezers. Her place is small, yet clean, and there are separate rooms for the facial, waxing, and mani/pedi services. As far as double-dipping any sticks, I honestly did not see her during the process because let's be honest, your mind is trying on happy thoughts while the painful rip is any second from now. In short, she was thorough, kind, and honest. Prices were decent - $50 ($45 after your first visit) for full Brazilian, $20 underarms, $12 eyebrows, and $10 for a lip wax. Notes: 1) You need an appointment. She was kind enough to push me in her lunch hour, but going forward, appointments are a must. She gets fully booked quickly. 2) Have enough hair on you to actually have waxed off. The recommended amount is at least 1/4"-1/2". If you just shaved, wait a few weeks. It's not worth your money if you go too early. She will also tell you in person, but why waste the trip? 3) Brace yourself. If you opt for the brazilian, you're in for pain and indecency for the entire time (no matter who you go to). All in all, I think I found my regular go-to waxing specialist. I moved to Chitown three months ago. I've done my eyebrows three times since. Each time has been disastrous!!! Twice at two Benefit locations and once at European Wax Center which left me enraged (see my review for details and for an uttermost laugh of the day). Do I really need to add to the hallelujah chorus of the amazingness that is Eva?? YES!!! Ok this was my first ever down there waxing. Never had a bikini wax ever before. So I decided, "What the heck, let's try a Brazilian." I did my research, was armed with my knowlege & questions and off I went to my first appointment with Eva! I got a tad lost inside the building - Note: You need to go to level P3, not 3P. I was wandering around on the 3rd floor looking for a door with a "P" on it. So go to P3 and go inside the DiStefano salon. I called Eva at 2:27 because I was lost, she told me where to go so I hopped back on the elevator. No lie, I was done and BACK on the elevator at 2:37. It was that quick. I will concur with what someone else said - on a pain scale of 1-10 it was like a 3/4. I was expecting some serious pain but it was fine, it was nothing. She is THAT good! I have issues in general with ingrown hairs so I asked her what I should do to prevent them following the waxing and she very confidently replied, "You will not get ingrown hairs from my wax job". I was thinking "Suuuure, we'll see about that." but I never did get any. I love her. Her prices are extremely reasonable. Even though Eva is well reviewed by others, I figured I should add my voice and experience. It's a little embarrassing to extol the virtues of a bikini waxer, but ya know? it's a critical service for ladies today. And you don't want someone who makes you feel self conscious or hurts you. I read all the reviews so I was prepared going in: tiny closet of a room, "drive through" type of experience in terms of time in/out and having to undress in front of her, no tinkling relaxing spa music and candles, just a fast and efficient process. Eva is a no-nonsense kinda gal, proud of her work and dedicated to the eradication of all body hair apparently. I can say that I didn't get more than 2 ingrowns after my wax, it was all relatively painless, and I'll def go back again! Only complaint is that she's really hell bent on trying to give you a Brazilian. I asked her to leave a landing strip and frankly what I got was a little triangle at the top only, still basically removed everything from below that. I will ask her next time to leave a bit more on the outer labia area so I'm not looking like a 12 year old. I just got home from my first appointment with Eva. I've never had a Brazilian done before and I'm never going anywhere else!! I made my appointment about a month ago, because after reading her reviews here I figured she books up really quickly. Fact is, you can probably call her the week before you'd like to get it done and be in luck. Eva doesn't mess around, you'll walk in, close the door and she'll tell you to strip. Then you lay down and wham, bam, thank ya ma'am you're smooth and sexy! Her prices have gone up $50 for a Brazilian, but she's definitely worth every penny, I went with my cousin, and we both made follow-up appointments 4 weeks from now. For people who have never gotten a Brazilian done before: it is painful, but personally I've gotten my legs waxed as well as my chin/upper lip those were MUCH more painful. Okaaaay...here goess... I'm an AA chic w/coily hair, which means I have issues with pesky ingrowns. I yelped and yelped until I stumbled upon Eva and I'm so glad that I found her! 1 mo post wax and I have a few ingrowns but not near as many as b4! Just as others have stated, she took the time to remove ingrowns that I had been trying to remove but never could. Painful-yes! Good: Fast, removes majority of the hair, cheap. Bad: Unsanitary (Double dipping, no gloves, touching the phone while working on your private parts). Doesn't try to make you comfortable, as making you dress/underss in front of her, posing you in weird ways on her table. (Like throwing your leg on her shoulder - Ah?!) I was her client for a while, but got an infection. I am not 100% sure it's from her services but symptoms started a couple of days after my Brazilian. I saw Eva today for a Brazilian Wax. The building is easy to find on Michigan Ave. The office is nice and comfortable with relaxing decor. I felt the receptionist and Eva were both very welcoming and friendly. I met with Eva, we walked back to the wax room and I undressed from the waist down and laid on the waxing table and she gave me a towel to cover with. Everything was very clean. For those uncomfortable getting undressed with her in the room I'm baffled by. She turns around so you can undress, it's not like she's starting at you. And in just moments you are going to be spread eagle with her all up in your vajayjay waxing away, so seriously, remember what service you went in for! It is not for the extremely modest! There was discomfort, but nothing unbearable at all. It's a delicate area. At times there will be discomfort but I thought her technique minimized it. I decided to go to Eva after the reading the reviews here, after all, if you can't trust the Yelpers, who can you trust? :) I went to Eva on Saturday, I showed up 15 minutes early for my 2pm appointment and lucky for me, the person who had a 1:30 appointment hadn't shown up so Eva saw me right away. Just as everyone else has said she is in a smallish room so you have to get undressed while she sets up. But if she's already going to see your lady parts, I can't imagine why anyone would be modest. Right?! Eva was friendly and she worked quickly and with ease. I won't say there was no pain, but honestly, it was minimal. It was over so fast! I will admit, I did take two Aleve about an hour before just to be safe! I will definitely be going back. She was kind, professional, and quick. All of the 5 stars are well earned and the all of the rave reviews are true! I called Eva the day before I needed an appointment. She asked me to call back that next morning to check if there were any cancellations (she is booked weeks at a time), when a client cancelled she called me right away. I was amazed that she kept her word!! When I walked in I felt embarrassed but within seconds she made me feel very comfortable. She was very straight forward and honest when I tip-toed around my request. During my 15 minutes - she educated me on the importance and the art of waxing. This may sound koo-koo, but I will no longer think of waxing as a headache or something to avoid, but as an accessory to feeling sexy. read more
