I am from out of town, and was a walk-in, requesting gel Polish removal and a regular manicure. The regular lacquer polish all appears to be rather old. That should have been my first clue that this might not go well... The technician was pleasant enough and seemed competent, but her command of English is less than ideal as I had to repeat my requests numerous times. I asked for a gentle gel removal, which she didn't seem to understand. The gel removal brush on she used seems efficient, but when I removed the nail polish, my nails are ridiculously damaged. The salon is untidy, dusty, and in places dirty and grimy. This is probably the worst manicure I have ever received. Attached are photos of my manicure, at less than 24 hours after leaving the salon. I did not wash dishes or take a shower or have my hands in water of any fashion. I have also edited to add photos of how damaged my nails are. I have regular manicures, with occasional gel polish, and my nails are never like this. I cannot recommend this salon in good conscience to anyone. read more

The worst salon I've ever been at. They make up their prices as they go. Came in from another salon because it was closer to me. Wanted a trim down because my nails were long French and wanted short red. Which I thought should be a 30 min job. When I asked how much it's going to be. She questioned and said 30?? Then she pretends to go through this book that supposedly has the prices.... Then just shuts the book doesn't tell me the prices and says the lady over there will take you. I sit there and she I swear has never done nails in her life. Took her 20 min to shave off the French tip I had. If it took her 20 min to shave off the color gosh forbid how long the rest was gonna take. She also didn't know how to use her tools properly. Wish I got her name so you can stay clear of her. She did not do a good job. So I stopped her midway and said I don't like what your doing to my nails. I'll pay you for your service and go on my way. I'll attach a photo of my nails. Heard about this nail salon from my daughter and saw the low Yelp reviews, but my daughter explained there is a new owner. Its located in a little strip mall by the Krispy Kreme, Costco, Home Depot. Parking lot is on the smaller side, but I was able to get a spot right up front. This was my first trip to a nail salon, post Covid. My daughter assured me that the safety protocols were excellent and she was correct. Safety pros: Staff all wore masks and gloves. Hand sanitizer available. Plexiglass dividers when getting a manicure. Disposable liners in foot tub when getting a pedicure and they cleaned the tubs between patrons. I requested a standard mani/pedi, and it turned out perfect. I stayed a longer than typical to make sure my nails dried with the fans (since I didn't use gel), but there was no pressure for me to hurry up and leave. Plus, I met the owner, Anna, and she was friendly and easy to talk to. This has been the first nail salon I found in Vancouver that I highly recommend. read more

I went to get my acrylics removed and the nail tech used cuticle cutters and a piece of plastic to PRY my nails off. She did not soak them in acetone like other salons normally do. It hurt and my nail is EXTREMELY DAMAGED. I couldn't even believe what was happening. Would not recommend. Ouch! Update: 1 month later and my nails are still extremely damaged. read more

I'm not sure why this salon is getting such bad reviews :-/ I've been coming here pretty regularly for over 10 years and have had a pleasant experience 99% of the time. Occasionally I'll get a newer technician and she'll cut my cuticle too short (which doesn't make me very happy), but that has happened at other salons as well. Also I only get my natural nails manicured/pedicured, so I can't speak to acrylic services. I've had waxing done here as well and have been pleased. I've learned to make an appointment with a technician I know and am comfortable with (I would highly recommend Tammy). The technicians do rotate to other salons occasionally, so sometimes your favorite one won't be working at that particular salon anymore. If you ask, they will tell you where they moved to ;-) Every time I walk in the technicians and manager greet me by name, which I appreciate. I've tried other salons in the Portland area, and keep coming back to this one. They seem to have quite a few regulars...I should ask them to review on Yelp :-D read more

The prices were very decent and the attention to detail especially on my wife's pedicure were the best she's had in Vancouver. The place clean and the products were sold and good quality. The prices are reasonable and they do a great job. I never make an appointment but they always have enough people there that they can take you right away. The locations has massaging chairs and they are good about getting them started for you. They may try to upsell you but they are not pushy. Called early and was seated in good time. Asked for a "Halloween nail look" and told them I wanted black with sparkles (gel) and orange on the ring fingers, with spiders webs on the thumbs, not too much to ask for. Black, orange, and a simple design on two fingers. LINDA was my tech and she seemed completely uninterested in my nail job. It took less than 15 minutes total... I wasn't in any hurry. But that's not the point; they 'ran out' of the gel black with sparkles' so instead of asking me another color, the manager (male with spiky hair) picked another color and LINDA started to paint my nails with it without asking me if the color was okay. Well turns out the color was BROWN with sparkles. Before I could fully assure and say anything she started to paint the spider webs on my finger nails while obviously not caring about the job she was doing as she was being distracted by coworkers. I've been going here pretty consistently for the last couple years because they were right by my work. I've gotten to know a few of the gals. V, Hannah and one other girl are absolutely a pleasure to work with. I brought in a design recently and they nailed it (no pun intended). The job they do maintains itself well and lasts well longer than the standard 2 week shellac manicure. I did have one mishap where a piece of something got stuck in the nail and didn't notice until I got home that evening, but they fixed it right away the next day and for free. They did a wonderful job, I got Jenny (I think she said that was her name) they moved over another employee that was getting her nails done so I could sit to get my acrylics. Used the same towel :3 but other than that the detail and time she spent on my nails was fabulous! I got exactly what I paid for, and she repeatedly was making sure it was exactly what I want! I will return here for sure! It was $45 for coffin shaped acrylics. 21 days later, the nails are all still on!! A bit grown out but they held up super well! I am disappointed with the service I received. The nail tech i had was working on my nails at the same time as doing the nails to the gal next to me. She would go back in fourth for each step which caused her to be in a hurry the whole time and do a bad job on my nails. I would of rather she told me to wait an extra 30 minutes until she finished with the other woman. I was really disappointed by this. I got a gel manicure ($28) that I already know will start to lift by the cuticles soon as she got polish on my cuticles skin so as i wash my hands, it will start to lift. That's a pretty average price point for this area I feel, but when I'm paying that much for my nails I expect them to be perfect. I went to VN Nails about 5 weeks ago to get powder mani and nail polish pedicure and was pleasantly surprised by their overall service. Unfortunately, I went back last night for the same service and was completely dissatisfied the moment I walked in. My friend I went around 5:30 p.m. and when we walked in were greeted by three teenagers asking what we wanted and asked if we had an appointment. We said, no appointment. They talked to the nail ladies and the nails ladies, it seemed, hesitantly agreed to go ahead and provide services to us. When trying to choose a color for nails and toes, using different products, they gave us Shellac colors, and once we had chosen our colors, we had to pick another color because we weren't getting a Shellac mani or pedi. Ok, no big deal, right? Then they couldn't find one of the colors I chose. They had us so confused on choosing the right product for our color ... we couldn't relax for about the first 25 minutes of the process. The girl who worked on my mani didn't seem to care about the outcome. My mani and pedi look fine; I was just disappointed in the service, which is why I gave them a 2-star review. I left a $5 tip on $75 service. Usually I would leave $10, but I didn't feel like rewarding two service techs that didn't provide great service. When I left they apparently started chattering loudly while the lady was showing/telling them what I left for a tip. I know this because my friend was still there when I left. Here's your tip, ladies ... Do your job correctly and with a smile and you will get better tips. It's called working in the service industry. I may or may not go back ... and I probably won't recommend VN Nails in the future. read more

One of the ladies didn't speak English at all and the other one had to translate for her. They were so rude.. they made my sisters nails look like duck feet..
