It was sweet that they both came to meet us, and give us a tour of the cottage and grounds to be sure that we were comfortable. It felt like we were visiting family or friends and we truly felt at home. The cottage looks like it is from a fairy tale and it is as perfect inside as it is outside. No detail has been overlooked to be sure that the guests have everything (and more!) that they need. Sitting right amidst the beautiful vineyards, it is like looking at a postcard. Every inch of the cottage is immaculate and looks brand new. The interior has been done tastefully with great attention to detail. I brought my work group here and we had so much fun learning how to make pizza and the dough. "I never knew the right way" clearly. It was exciting and fun. I found this rental while researching venues for an engagement party. Looks nice from pictures and…read morevideos, but dealing with the owner was difficult. In addition to the $750 event fee, she requires that both suites be rented for a minimum of THREE nights (almost $2000). This not only is an exorbitant rate, but seems absurd considering we would only need the space for one evening. Still, I was willing to consider it as a retreat for the bride-to-be. The owner also stated that she would need to have final approval over our caterer, which struck me as utterly bizarre. When I inquired about viewing the property physically, she did not respond for nearly a week and I had to contact her again before receiving an answer. We set up an appointment, only to be informed that she would be away, but she would "leave a list" with her husband if we had any questions. The day before our appointment, she emailed to say they had people checking in early and that we either needed to reschedule or we could still come, but we would only be able to view the outside of the property. Considering the price point, I opted to reschedule. Then two days before our second scheduled appointment, I received an email from her with a "heads up" that she and her husband both had to be in SLO BY NOON, so please be on time for our appointment - our 11AM appointment that she had already rescheduled once and was now going to be rushing through so they could get off to SLO. I found the insinuation that I would not be punctual quite insulting. At this point, I determined that as pretty as the setting looks in their ads, continuing to deal with the owner was not worth the hassle. My advice to others is to look elsewhere, as I am doing. There are lots of wonderful venues in and around Paso that are operated by much more pleasant and reliable individuals.

So glad we stayed here! We had a lovely drive down from San Francisco, saw the elephant seal beach,…read moregawked at a heard of zebra, and swooned over the lush wine country before this neighborhood seemed to pop up right out of nowhere. It is nestled in to the hillside on the west side of Paso Robles and therefore avoids all of the track houses of the east side and is a truly unique home. I was very pleased to have access to the two car garage. Our explorer fit in there just fine and it was nice knowing that it was locked up safe and sound at night, although I doubt it'd be a problem if you slept all night with the door open any how. When you walk in it is immediately clear how spacious this home is! The ceilings are vaulted and there are plenty of windows. The bedrooms are also all nicely sized. There are two kings and a queen and they all fit in the bedrooms with plenty of space: no sardines here! The furniture is in great condition, which is important to me. There is a living area, dining area, family area and barstool area. It was nice to just spread out and hang out wherever but I really preferred to be outside on the porch! There are some seats out there on the top floor of the home and it was awesome to just sit out there in the morning and drink my coffee and watch the deer! It also felt very private because they were not kidding when they decided to call it Oaktop Terrace. You are literally in the trees and it is wonderful! The backyard is great too. There are deer that come by and it is great to watch them. They have a deer fence though so it was great to see them and know they weren't going to get at you either. We grilled out back a few times and ate out there too. The weather was perfect for it. Everything was really nice about this home, but it was the tiny things that made it perfect. First, the wifi and cable were great to have. I could have worked from here but nah I was on vacation! Also, the hosts have stocked this place with anything you could need. Don't bother bringing anything for the kitchen because they have all the dishes, forks, cups, utensils you need. There was a coffee maker and toaster. There's a jet tub in one of the THREE bathrooms. They even put luggage racks in the rooms. There was a washer and dryer to use. The towels were all new and I think the sheets were too. We even walked to downtown to get some lunch one day, we walked again to get some ice cream. It was nice to have the car but we didn't really need it until we went wine tasting. Speaking of wine, this place is just a 5 minute drive from so many wineries. We went to our favorites: Le Cuvier, Tolo, and Tobin James. Once we picked up some bottles we went back to the house, sat on the porch and just enjoyed the peaceful times and the wildlife. I even saw my first bluejay! This would be a great house to get for wine or beer festivals because it could accommodate a few couples with plenty of space to spare and without stepping on each others' toes. So, sorry for the long post but I just wanted to share this gem. It was the perfect, relaxing end to our Cali vacation. You won't be disappointed here! We will definitely be back and we will bringing some friends with us.

It is conveniently close to all the wineries in the area. The property is newly built, opening in Fall of 2025. Free electric vehicle hook up also! Rooms are spacious, beds are comfortable. We used the pool/hot tub. I peeped in the exercise room plenty of activities for all. We didn't dine at the property, but the bar was fully stocked and I did enjoy a delicious Old Fashion one evening. My only complaint: as we stayed 4 nights there was no room cleaning and we ran out of towels and toilet paper. We were informed by staff rooms were cleaned every 3 days. Our room was never straightened or checked on and when we ran out of toilet paper I was informed by staff: "please come to the front desk as I am the only person on duty presently." I believe that this hotel would benefit by placing a placard regarding the checks on rooms, refill on towels/toilet paper and emptying of trash cans so guests are aware of the situation. Overall, we enjoyed our visit & would likely stay here again!

I'd rather sleep in a tent with good morning coffee than sleep in a luxury hotel with crappy morning coffee. The big gripe is that there was no coffee machine in our room. It was an espresso machine. Instructions for use were three cryptic images that made no sense. They looked like diagrams you might find on an extraterrestrial space craft. I inserted one of the four thimbles of espresso , which I mistook for instant coffee into the hole a bit crooked and when I lifted the lid to adjust it, it fell down inside the machine. I tried again and the second thimble fell inside the machine. So then I delicately inserted the 3rd thimble and it got in place ok. Still not knowing it was espresso I used a full cup of water and it made for a nasty watered down tasteless drink. Also the thimbles come in two colors. One color is decaf-- but they don't tell you which color is decaf. I inserted the 4th thimble and used 1/4 cup of water. It tasted nasty. Then my wife said, "Where's my coffee?" I told her it's all gone. She was sad. So I struggled to dismantle the machine and dig out the two unused thimbles but then I couldn't put it back together. We figured to heck with it. We will wait until the maid cleans our room and try again on day two. I went to the lobby assuming they would have complimentary coffee. BIG FANCY LUXURY HOTEL AND NO COMPLIMENTARY LOBBY COFFEE. That's nickel - dime bs. We had to dress and drive into town for coffee. I was too upset to buy their restaurant coffee. I found the maid down the hall. I asked her if she could help me reassemble my espresso machine. She said she did not know how to- which means she can't ever empty out the used thimbles. She gave me a brochure but it didn't contain any assembly instructions. We left for the day touring the region. Got back late. The maid had come and made our bed. The maid never touched our dismantled espresso machine. She did not put it back together and she did not leave us any new thimbles of coffee or more creamer. It's going to be a long three days without our morning coffee. One other gripe. At the bar one evening I ordered a shot of tequila. I specifically asked for NOT top shelf. I didn't know the brands and couldn't see the labels from my stool. He picked one for me. I said I want in NEAT. He asked if I wanted it cooled. My mistake - I said sure. He poured my shot into a tumbler of ice which melted. I got a glass nearly full. I was pleased at first. I thought he'd given me a healthy pour. I was wrong. I got a glass of watered down tequila that tasted just as bad as my watered down espresso. The cost for a shot? = $16!!!! PS if you want a great breakfast reasonably priced, and great coffee, drive a couple miles to Joe's in Templeton. .
