I am the first to admit, I have a tendency to neglect health issues that are less life threatening and dispairing unless of course, it comes to the point where the irritation or pain is almost unbearable. Then of course, my mode of attack always starts with PANIC.
Pain in the muscles, joints, back, etc.. I have always associated that with just normal "wear and tear" from the inevitable aging process. Of course, to some extent, that is true, however, a lot of times, I ignore the symptoms of my own occupational hazard. Carpal Tunnel, Tendenitis, even severe spinal problems, these are all of my work related issues, that never occured to me until of course, after so much pain in my arms, I went to Dr. Nguyen to see if I can get a "quick and easy" fix. "There is no such thing as a quick and easy fix for these problems" Dr. Nguyen remarked. "You might not realize it, but these problems, if left alone, can possibly lead to other more severe physical impairment.", he warned. My response was.. a nonchalant, "yeah. yeah. but can u get rid of this pain for now?"
Of course, the diagnosis was carpal tunnel, which until then, I didn't realize the extremity of the issue and how many of us corporate americans are inflicted w/ that problem. Dr. Nguyen's professional explanation to me regarding my condition was very detailed: "Its the way you sit. You slouch don't you? All office workers, without realizing it, spend 8-9-10 hours slouched in front of their computer and typing at speed that is beyond ur wrist's natural movements. So... carpal tunnel is a condition that most of you have, without realizing it." The fix... more ergonomic friendly mouse pads, chairs, and most importantly education regarding proper posture when sitting at the computer and of course to relieve the pain, deep tissue work on my wrist and arms.
Dr. Nguyen's methodology was something that I didn't expect from a Chiropractor. By common assumption, it was always simple adjustments and go, however, with Dr. Nguyen, he took the time to explain and educate me on the symptoms, the causes, the preventive measures to take, and of course, the importance of early detection/prevention. I think after a year of visits, I can now assess the ins and outs of not only Carpal Tunnel, but other muscle, back pain conditions as well.
Its been a year since my first visit, and although my carpal tunnel, shows some signs of major improvement (i.e. less pain), because of my negligence, I will need more treatments than I normally would expect. By proximity convenience, i chose Dr. Nguyen to do my initial treatment, however, his own professionalism has made me a loyal client. I will recommend Dr. Nguyen to all my friends, family, coworkers, and peers. read more
