I am disappointed by this place. I ordered a medium BYO and a few small BYO bowls and they turned out terrible. They did not add any sauce in the bowl and when we asked for a side of sauce they did not add it on the side. I paid extra for extra sauce and that was also missing. Not worth a try. Their small bowl is like $14-15 and it is literally a kids' meal. Also tried their iced matcha latte, and that was overly priced and not worth it. They also missed a whole drink on my order. I stopped by Vale Food Co with some friends while visiting Tallahassee, and built a regular bowl that hit all the right notes. I went with the sweet chili noodles and mac & cheese as my bases--both were flavorful and satisfying. The pulled chicken and teriyaki chicken were tender and packed with taste,...the pulled chicken was definitely my favorite! I topped it off with cauliflower and pickled onions for a bit of crunch and zing. The bowl had a great mix of textures and flavors, and everything tasted fresh. The bowl was huge, too! To be honest, this place was disappointing. Food looked like it's been sitting out for hours, and it was close to dinner time hours so it was strange that it wasn't fresh looking. Also, one of the items I wanted on my bowl, was a "11 minute wait" and as much as I didn't want to wait for it, my friend and I didn't mind waiting so I opted to try it. Not only did it feel like the longest 11 minutes of my life, but I get into eating it and the chicken was still raw! The "Vale" rice tasted like it had sour milk in it, and the turmeric onions/peppers were so strange. Two stars because the guy was friendly. But I don't recommend here at all. Met a friend here for lunch; wasn't aware of this establishment beforehand, but I really like it; love the "vibes" and appreciate that this place is somewhat eco-friendly. Great options for portions (small, regular, large). I opted for the small bowl, which was just the right size for me. There are signature bowls on the menu, but there is also the option of building your own bowl, which is what I prefer. I ordered a small bowl: cilantro lime brown rice as my base, balsamic mushrooms as my veggie, ancho pulled chicken as my protein, corn salsa as my boost, and chipotle ranch (on the side) as my sauce. The meal was delicious, though, aside from the corn salsa, the other ingredients were a bit lukewarm (I prefer hot items to be hot). In any case, it was not really a big deal. I wanted to top my meal off with a slice of banana bread, but I was not at all impressed; it was quite dry. The last couple of times I've gone, I've gotten the feta turkey meatballs, and generally I love them. However recently they've been giving me the worst stomach ache. I don't believe it's just the meatballs that have taken a quality hit. I'm not sure if their quality has just gone down since COVID, but it definitely doesn't feel the same. I used to eat here a lot in college and enjoyed it, but it seems those days are over. And what's worse, the prices have gone up. I fear that despite the "increase in value" the freshness and quality have really tanked. Have been going to the Tennessee st location for over two years with no problems. However recently with no explanation the serving size of each of their different bowls has been cut . Now when you order a small bowl at 10 bucks you now get about a third of what you used to get. When you ask for more to actually fill the bowl they inform you there's an additional charge. This place is nice. The smoothie b-holes (that's what I call smoothie bowls) are really good. Honestly the best smoothie b-holes you can get. I'm all about getting some Nek (that's what I call Nekter Juice Bar) but it's kind of out of the way. I get Nek every now and then, but the b-holes at this place are too good to pass up on. I asked about the deal inside after ordering my bowls and the (very nice) workers had said their manager told them that it only applied when you order through some app. They didnt know what app it was which wasn't their fault, but after seeing the sign which had no mention of an app or any fine print on it, I felt a little robbed. I am so happy that Vale decided to open a second location on Tennessee Street. There are many times where I attempt to visit the Vale in Collegetown but unfortunately cannot find parking or find that the situation is too overwhelming. This location serves the same delicious food albeit it in a less busy location. I found that the service was excellent and my food was fresh and delicious as usual. I also appreciate that Vale now has punch cards for loyalty as I will certainly be back. I recommend the chipotle macaroni and cheese, as well as the delicious cauliflower. read more

I went to Vale last Wednesday and it will be my last time. They were out of Avocados... LITERALLY 90% of their menu.... Now I get that we're in the midst of a pandemic and there is an apparent avocado shortage going on in Mexico... Not completely their fault, right? I would give them a pass if I hadn't gone there last year, for the first time, and they were out of avocados then too. This time I decided to just order the dang Poke bowl because I didn't feel like looking for another open place. Poke bowls come with three items, your base (rice, greens or quinoa,) Tuna, and onions (which they were ALSO out of!!) I asked the employee if I could double up on my proteins since they were out of the other items... NOPE-They also wouldn't adjust the price. DO NOT MAKE ME PAY FOR SOMETHING THAT YOU WERE UNABLE TO PROVIDE. Absolutely ridiculous, $15 wasted. Vale is probably the most pretentious establishment I've ever been to. I was not happy with my meal. The pesto rice was so hard, it was difficult to chew. The veggies were extra salty and not warm. The meatballs were not warm and a bit goo-ey. BEWARE! I was at this location on Sunday 8/4/2019 where my friend ordered meatballs and come to find out they were completely RAW meatballs. We let the staff know and they swapped it out with chicken with no problem . We unfortunately all got FOOD POISONING ! I had the chicken that day and still got food poisoning ! I went back to the facility's to see if the owner can compensate us at least for our food that got us sick. The owner did not want to speak to me and had their staff talk to us. The owner was able to "compensate" us with 20% flyers that looks like they were handing out for some promotion . What a way to make me feel even worse. Not sure why the owner thought I was gonna come back to the facility but just want to let customers know the owner of this place does not care and nor did he let me know if they were going to fix their problem with their "chefs".
