We lived in a community managed by VMG for 8 years. VMG seems to run regular interference for its bad reviews and Im not surprised. I am of the opinion I will try to be neutral and not require a response. The fact that there is even an HOA "Industry" should be a major red flag to all homeowners. Dues should pay for the community and instead there are individuals, entities and lawyers on the other side of this equation who are very set on looking out for their own industries and their own bottom lines. How do we make money on this HOA.... how do we capitalize on this HOA... how do we perpetuate this lopsided relationships with HOA's?? Bad Management is the gateway. That's a huge problem. With Bad management one can easily peek in to see their ulterior motives and where their loyalties lie. On the other side. How do we shift the equation? Empowerment comes from the community. Homeowners must get educated and look for solutions and strategies. Better managers. Reform. A good, educated manager... we sadly did not have. We were sued over and over again. Our legal budget grew 10 fold. Dues doubled. In the mean time roof leaks went unattended to, pools were regularly closed by the health department, etc. No quality or value. AB130 is a new law and I now understand if you are a good HOA that communicates with your homeowners, it shouldn't really affect you. If you're a Badly managed HOA, that likes to fine the homeowners to high heaven instead of actually pick up the phone and communicate about an issue, then you will not like this law because it will Force the manager to learn to communicate with the homeowners. Our HOA Manager spoke badly of this law instead of educate about communication and that should tell you everything you need to know. I won't dox our old VMG manager, but I will say our New managing company is amazing!! New manager has the camera on at all the meetings, sends out all notices with actual photos and walks and talks with all homeowners on monthly walks of the community. New company gets all notices out on time and regularly helps us to understand our governing documents. Im simply feeling blessed in my new community! read more

DISINGENUOUS. Just reviewed the co-owner's comments. What he means by "architectural" committee is the president of the Remington at Stone Crest HOA himself, R. Palos, who owns the house in the first place and self-deals, assisted greatly by co-owner of VMG, L. McKinley. It took me a year to find out thanks to VMG's misleading answers and delay tactics. An HOA (with help from the management company) is supposed to serve the community, not one individual's caprices at the expense of the community itself. This review has been posted only because of VMG's demonstrably deceitful behavior. An organization is only as good as its people. At a minimum, VMG has a fiducial responsibility to homeowners. Note how the co-owner tries to distract from the issue - yet again. Incredible! You'd think he'd have a genuine concern or compassion as a good management company. NO! Typical of VMG, disingenuous as ever. VMG has dragged other neighbors' much less intrusive plans for months. Thankfully, pictures speak louder than words! Impacted neighbors' concerns were ignored and intentionally minimized. Initially, VMG had refused to even share the names, and only the names, of our HOA board members which is public information by the way. I'd asked for the names out of convenience. How much of a straighter question can one have? Half-truths are lies. Belligerent. Unethical. Grossly incompetent. Discouraging and preventing upstanding members of the community from serving on the board that's been lacking directors for years... Easier to control that way. Their careless behavior is evidence that they don't believe in rules, regulations and most importantly, the laws of the State of California. read more

I am a new homeowner in the Promontory neighborhood. I worked with Emma to go through the process to obtain approval to build a pool and BBQ in my yard. Emma got back to me promptly with the paperwork and explanations as to what reports needed to be provided. Once I submitted the documents with my neighbors signatures, I was told it could take up to 45 days. I literally received my approval within HOURS. These Jackboots are terrible. They never answer the phone and they complain if the slightest brown spot appears on the lawn. However, one neighbor has no backyard landscaping and has not had for 19 years. They "ticket" your car if they think it has been parked too long on the street and threaten to tow it. They act outside the law. This management company has no control over the cost of vandalism here, they waste time sending guards over to "ticket" cars parked legally. read more

I have, on occasion needed to email VMG with either a question or a concern. Angie Mata has been exceptional to deal with.
