I walked into El Callejon Taqueria and Grill, located on 208 Galisteo St Santa Fe, NM 87501 on Aug 22 2026. It was on a Saturday night, right before 9pm. This was my first weekend in the city of Santa Fe, on both Yelp and Google this location shows the restaurant closes at 11pm. When I walked in the bartender told me that it was closed. I wouldn't care that a business is closed before the listed hours; it was the way the bartender went about it. He could have politely told me that the kitchen was closed, and I would not have had any problem with it. He walked up to me within arm's length and continuously repeated "sorry we are closed" multiple times while getting closer to me. It was one of the worst experiences I have had to get escorted "asked" out of a restaurant. The experience was not good. To be clear I never get to try the food here.

The steak (Popocatepetl: spicy black pepper crusted aged angus beef tenderloin / red cabbage and snow peas in cilantro vinaigrette / jasmine rice) we shared looked nothing like the description. Either our server was clueless regarding gluten-free, because this wasn't up to our standards for a high-end restaurant--the flavor wasn't the same as we remembered from several years ago, and the steak (medium rare) inside was colder--not room temperature, so I ended up not eating all of mine. Plus we had to ask for rice--which should have come with our meal since there isn't flour or any ingredients that would have made this harmful to me. Also, the side of asparagus it came with wasn't bright green and crispy--it was yellowish and flimsy-looking and tasting. For the price, this should have been more on point than what it was. We had split a steak, shared a soup, had a bottle of wine, two glasses of champagne, and a dessert--oh, and a $12 split change (something they suggested--even though my partner and I were fine eating from the same plate)...the bill was almost $400 with tax & tip. The dessert however, was presented beautifully with mixed berries and a liquor which was then lit on fire--a festive dessert option since I have a gluten allergy. There are so many wonderful restaurants. Unfortunately, the food did not leave us craving to come back for more. If the service and decor wasn't so impressive, Sazon would have received one stars.

Wow! Talk about the worst customer service from a restaurant OWNER I've ever received! The waitress was mediocre. Very nice but nothing special. I mean I did run out of beverage and was never offered a refill. What made my experience so bad was not the delicious quesedilla I had or the yummy chips and salsa but the fact they refused to take our restaurant.com coupon. I am beyond livid with this idiotic owner. There is no way a business can make it with customer service like that. I fully understand that companies lose out with coupons but that coupon was what got me in the door! I would have happily paid $40 for my dinner but the lack of customer care made me immediately cancel my order and leave after only my appetizer. I will never go back because of this. It's a shame because if the restaurant had an owner with any kind of customer oriented brain it may last and people could experience good food but I just don't see this company making it until he changes his stubborn mindset of money money money! read more

First, food was awesome, what we had anyway. Problem was we had a gift certificate from restaurant.com. we had purchased the certificate prior to vacation along with several other restaurants in the santa fe area (all no problems). We ordered chips and Salsa and quesedillas both were awesome when we ordered we let our server know we had a gift certificate, to which we were informed they were no longer accepting. It is terrible customer service for a new restaurant to turn away gift certificates that someone at their establishment had authorized. We are tourists but we were informed that we weren't the first people the owner refused to honor the certificates for. If they had been purchased they should be honored. The owner seems to look at it as losing money instead he's turning people away that will never come back and probably tell all there friends about the poor customer service. Sad this restaurant won't make it not because the food, which is great, but the poor management and customer service. read more

Yes, this isn't served on one of those super-hot metal plates, no big deal. The chicken was moist, and the large slices of peppers and onions were perfectly cooked. The Fajitas here rank among some of the best in town. Next time I order this dish, I'd ask them to replace the whole beans with the refried beans, which were superior. Valentina's serves breakfast all day, and I saw several dishes that look worth trying. There is ample parking in this shopping center. Try parking in the back, where there is an entrance as well as up front. Prices are reasonable considering the portion size and quality of food. In a town filled with excellent New Mexican (and Mexican) food, I can comfortably recommend Valentina's Dos.
