We love the Mexican food in Santa Fe! We try different places searching for a favorite. We found a favorite in Valentina's! We ate there twice while on a getaway this weekend. First time I had the ribeye steak fajitas, husband had a combo plate, and were shared a Chile relleno, just to try! Everything was delicious! And you get free sopapillas, and theirs were the best we had! The second time, (we couldn't resist stopping once more before leaving town), I had the chile relleno plate, which comes with 2 rellenos, refried beans, rice, and posole and a sopapilla. And hubby had carne adovada enchiladas and a relleno, see a pattern here? It as all amazing! But wow! We love their rellenos!! A large green Chile filled with melted cheese, lightly battered on the outside, smothered with green Chile, mmmmm.. They don't make 'em like this everywhere! We will be back! read more

Called in this morning for a large breakfast to-go order. Since their menu was not posted online I had to call in. When I asked what they have on the menu that is gluten-free, the response was "burritos, oatmeal and french toast". After repeating the question he said "We have bagels". It was like pulling teeth to find out what they have on the menu so I placed the order elsewhere. Excellent food! We started with chips and salsa. The salsas (three of them) were flavorful and fresh. We ordered the Huevos Rancheros and the House Omelette. Both were very fresh and had good flavor. I came for lunch with a friend and we both enjoyed it tremendously. Beautifully plated food that is prepared fresh after you order, and not reheated on the plate like in a lot of places. I had the veggie burrito and my friend the huevos rancheros and we both cleaned our plates. I like the combination of salsas on the chips and salsa appetitzer (which you do have to order and pay for). As others have mentioned, great sopapillas, and good friendly service. It's also nice not to have to worry about parking (this place is located in a shopping center). I think this is going to become my new Mexican food fix. read more

Mexican food that isn't greasy?!- it's true! I am so happy to have heard about this place. The portions are large (we're splitting an entree next time) and the food is delicious. I didn't have that 50 pounds of cheese in my gut feeling after eating here. The beans are yummy- which is important when dining out on Mexican food. Sopapillas are fab, but they'd do well to invest in equally fine honey. The honey tasted like it was cut with corn syrup. I don't generally order flan in a restaurant as it seems that it is often thickened with flour or cornstarch, or is watery. I was in Santa Fe for a few days with my family and some friends, and craved some good New Mexican red chile. Based on the reviews, we walked a half hour from the plaza to Valentina's, and it was well worth it! The atmosphere was casual and family friendly; our party included an infant, a toddler, and a 6 year old, and two other adults, and everyone felt welcome. Upon looking around, we noticed that at least half of the other tables had small children, but kids weren't screaming or running around. Unbeknownst to us, we dined there during mariachi night (a Wednesday) and were pleasantly surprised to have live music for an hour while we ate. I think that the group's name was Mariachi Buenaventura and their voices were amazing. As for the food, I ordered the special, chicken flautas, smothered in red chile. The flautas were a little dry, but the chile was SPECTACULAR, as were the sopapillas. My husband ordered a burrito, but our toddler ate most of it, which is a testament to it's tastiness in and of itself. Our friend ordered a veggie quesadilla and couldn't finish it, it was that big, plus she wanted to leave room for the sopapillas. All in all, this is a place worth coming back to the next time we travel through Santa Fe. read more

My friends and I went to Valentina's in Santa Fe during a winter Sunday. It was one of the only restaurants open, so we really appreciate it existing. The waitress and staff were super friendly, and the queso and salsas were delicious. It was slightly annoying that the chips and salsa were not complimentary and were an overpriced $5. However, the margs were super watery and only offered one flavor which was pretty sad after a long day of driving. Our only customer service complaint is that the waitress didn't seem to believe we were actually 21, so we felt slightly disrespected. The beef fajitas were too fatty but the chicken was great. Especially the quesadillas. Overall, pleased with Valentina's. Would recommend on a Sunday, but maybe ask for your margs with no ice. Lastly, they gave us great puff mints with our checks which made it all worthwhile. read more

We had an 18 month old with us so we needed a certain amount of understanding from the staff to be able to enjoy our meal, and they were great to us. The restaurant was not busy, it was a Monday morning around 10 am. I had Migas and sopapillas...of course. My dining partner had Papas Rancheros. The Migas were scrambled eggs with diced red peppers, onions, bell peppers and tortilla strips. The eggs were a little over scrambled but not dry. The dish came with refried beans and a choice of another side. The eggs were delicious and the sopapillas were outstanding, the best of the two times we had them in Santa Fe. The papas dish was also delicious. I would highly recommend Valentina's. Also, it is not in the midst of the old town hustle and bustle. We parked easily (and free) and enjoyed a relaxed unpretentious breakfast at a reasonable cost. read more

Well I am going to continue the 5 star reviews! We went here in a Friday night around 8, and it was pretty quiet so we got a booth right away. Not from New Mexico so we were not sure what to get but wow was it impressive. We got the adovado combo and the adovado burrito. Christmas chiles on both. It was fantastic. The soapapillo was delicious as a dipper, I almost wish I had gotten the stuffed ones. It's cheap too! The waitress was very friendly and we left stuffed. I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 due to the minimal drink options and prices. I like a good beer with my Mexican food, but there are no beers on tap here and the run-of-the-mill selection in cans & bottles is overpriced. $4.50 for a 12-oz. bottle of Negra Modelo or Dos Equis? That's too much. And only "wine margaritas" -- no liquor license here. If you do go here, go on mariachi night -- Wed., usually. An excellent all-female mariachi band. read more
