Service was great! Had a 10 minute wait for two after checking in with the host. No problem, the bar was next to us so waited with a chilton in my hand. The environment was a welcoming place. Not too busy not too lame either. There were mariachi's there to serenade the folks. Nice touch for the experience. I had the Carne Adovado, and it was perfect! My first time having that dish with a side of rice and beans. The side of sopapillas were delicious too! I'll definitely visit again!!
Im updating my review because I am unhappy with the service after taking a visiting relative and gushing to her about how great this place was-we were treated like afterthoughts. First of all, the hostess seated another couple who were alerted after us to the main dining room and ignored me when I arrived before she had taken them-obviously to our table. Then a manager or someone higher up than the ignoring girl appeared said she'd seat me after she found me on list-they had sent out two texts back to back with last blasting urgent, threatening to lose the reservation even though they had just sent the first notification. We were in the lobby. I told her my stepmom is visiting from out of state and how excited I am for her to experience their food and she starts to take me to the side room with huge parties of 20 or more and I ask if we can sit in main dining room, which she ignored. I was not happy. It was way too loud and not the normal, nicer part of Tomacita's - where I've always sat before. It was not that busy as it was 7:30 on a Thursday night. Then the server himself took forever to bring her margarita and get our order (10 min). After food arrived, I had to ask a busboy to bring an extra plate, as we were splitting a combo and a grande nachos. He ignored us too. I flagged down the server who had promised to bring us a second plate when he took our order, but he didn't. Busboy ignored us so yes, flagged down server and he brought us two plates. We needed one and the tiny wobbly table that almost overturned twice (they need to throw away that cheap table) barely fit both plates so I stacked the second plate under the sopapillas. Overall it was good food but terrible service - waited a half hour too long for our bill - most of the back room had cleared out so we were obviously being ignored on purpose. I'll never bring relatives or friends there again as I can't ever remember being treated like that anywhere in Santa Fe. And there are plenty of other great New Mexican restaurants out there. They should've seated us where I asked (twice and ignored) to be seated (we would've waited 5 more min), and then the service should've been better. Never again.
If you're looking for classic New Mexican comfort food in Santa Fe, Tomasita's absolutely delivers. We grabbed a table on the patio and started with their fresh sopapillas, which came out warm, fluffy, and perfect for tearing apart and dipping in honey. For my husband's meal, he ordered green chile enchiladas, smothered in their famous hatch green chile and melted cheese. The sauce had that perfect New Mexican balance -- flavorful, a little smoky, and with just enough heat to keep things interesting without overpowering the dish. I went with chicken tacos, served with Spanish rice and all the fresh toppings. The tacos were loaded with shredded chicken, lettuce, tomatoes, and salsa, and the rice on the side was fluffy and well seasoned. To drink, I tried a layered frozen margarita, which was as fun to look at as it was to drink -- icy, refreshing, and perfect for a sunny afternoon on the patio. My husband had a cold beer, it made for the ultimate Santa Fe lunch combo. Between the flavorful food, the relaxed patio atmosphere, and the classic New Mexican dishes done right, Tomasita's is one of those spots that reminds you why Santa Fe's food scene is so special. Definitely a place I'd come back to anytime I'm in town.
After a long day of adventuring back and forth to Albuquerque for a football game and other sightseeing, it was pretty late and I had just arrived back into Santa Fe on the railrunner. I started to agonize over all the dinner choices I had, but ultimately, convenience won out and I ended up just wandering into Tomasita's. Literally the closest thing to where the train dropped me off. It had a ton of reviews, and looks like it had been around for quite some time, so I went in. The place is massive, and the joint was jumping. They actually had a short wait. Upon being seated I was asked if I wanted chips and salsa... leading to my main complaint. Where I come from, and at every other place in NM I visited for similar cuisine, that is provided for free. They charge for it here. Listed on the menu... but I had not seen it at that point. I felt this was deceptive. That said, it was just a few bucks, and maybe the chips and salsa would be awesome. That was not the case. My chips were overcooked and stale tasting, and the salsa did nothing to help. A flat waste, and not a good first impression. From there things were better, and actually, my carne asada was way better than I expected... in the realm of cheap steaks, this was certainly one of the better ones. It was a combination that also came with a cheese chile relleno that I thought was great, and a chimichanga which was not. I was pretty full after that, didn't eat much on the rice and beans, but found them just fine. Interestingly, chips and salsa not free, but a wonderful puffed up sopapilla with a sweet cinnamon butter was. This, the sirloin, and the chile relleno helped save the meal. All in all, this felt like a pretty touristy place, but one with a long history. I thought it was fine, but should mention, it was my least favorite meal of the trip where just about everything else was a culinary delight.

We ordered margaritas, I actually was surprised that they served frozen margaritas, I thought that they were gone with the wind like piña coladas. We ordered a regular margarita and a frozen one, and both were delicious. We also ordered a tortilla soup, a carne adovada burrito, and a mix platter. That gave us a good sample of New Mexico food and Tomasita's as well. We enjoyed the food a lot. The mix platter was good, the carne adovada was amazing, the soup was good, and the sopapillas stole the show. I loved those fried things. To summarize, we had a good meal, we tried several items, we got a good idea of New Mexico cuisine, and we ate at a somewhat upscale restaurant with great service.

Not really sure what all the hype is about when there are definitely better spots to eat around Santa Fe. I ordered the carne adovada. Misrahin provided excellent customer service! The decor is amazing, the musicians serenaded tables, the margaritas are potent (that's according to my colleagues, I had a soft drink), and at the entrance is a warning that their chiles are the HOTTEST (also according to my colleagues, because I avoid spicy). Everyone loved their food! Misrahan provided good recommendations, so I enjoyed my grilled veggie quesadilla, sans the green chile which was on the side;). We couldn't fit their famous dessert (being fully stuffed) sopapilla with ice cream, but if their sopapilla with dinner was any indication, that famous dessert must be yummy!!! A wonderful place to enjoy dinner with colleagues, so do visit and I hope you enjoy it as much as we did!
This spot was on my list of restaurants provided by Pack Up and Go for my bday trip so of course I had to stop by since it was listed as one of the best restaurants in Santa Fe! It was a nice easy stroll from my hotel right by the Santa Fe Plaza. I got a very delicious margarita as well as the chili rellenos with Christmas sauce. It totally hit the spot! The portion was huge for me so I definitely had leftovers. The fry bread that came with it was also very yummy! Definitely a good stop on my first visit to Santa Fe! One weird thing, I was sitting at the bar and it seemed this group of older people had come in for whatever special they were having and they basically just hovered around me at the bar trying to get me to leave so that they could sit there. I was near the end of my meal so it wasn't a huge deal (and not the restaurant's fault) - just made me feel awkward and like I had to quickly finish up to get out of their way.
We came here yesterday around noon for some margaritas and chips. All the locals recommended this place for good margs. We sat in the bar area and were super happy with the chips and margs. After seeing the plates of food go back and forth, we decided to come here for dinner last night. Tomasitas appears to be a family institution in Santa Fe because it was packed when we arrived at 6:00. Green and red chilis are a staple at almost every restaurant in New Mexico. Almost every dish has chilis covered over it. Sopasillas are also a staple here in New Mexico. I can't find it anywhere else. It's served like bread baskets at other restaurants. The service is top notch and is a weel oiled machine. We loved ut. We would definitely come back when in Santa Fe.
Being from out of town we decided to try out the Rail Runner and right by the depot in Santa Fe is Tomasita's! Relatives suggested we give it a try and I was glad we did. Our waitress was so friendly and gave fantastic suggestions. We enjoyed our margaritas, meals, and sopaipillas. Definitely a must-stop in Santa Fe!
Nice little place close to the hotel. Many people at the agency we were visiting suggested this place. Now, I am a looker. I look at what other people are eating to see if something catches my eye. Things I was seeing didn't really entice my taste buds. I was in the mood for chips and salsa but you had to pay for chips and salsa. I wasn't going to pay for chips and salsa. I decided on the Tuesday special plate. It was a taco, enchilada, and chile relleno. I asked for a ground beef taco. It was okay. The meat had a taste I wasn't used to. It tasted gamey, like venison. One of my coworkers said they may use very lean meat. I dowsed it with salsa and salt and ate it. The enchilada was a blue corn tortilla with chicken. It was okay, I cannot believe I'm saying this, the chile was a little too spicy for me. The relleno was good. The sauce was a little too chunky for me but had a good flavor. Now, I really wanted some rice. The rice was underdone. Someone told me they serve their rice al dente. Sorry, it was underdone. I did not eat it. The sopapillas and beans were good. I asked for a drink to go, and it was a huge cup. I don't think I took any leftovers with me. I had planned to and even asked for a to-go container, but I changed my mind. I think there are other places I would like to try if I am ever in the area again.
Tuesday, our last lunch in Santa Fe at Tomasitas in the rail yard district. Tomasitas was not on our radar screen, but they must have been for half of Santa Fe. We were just checking out the rail yard district and looking for a place to have lunch. There was no line outside the restaurant, but it was jammed packed inside, elbow to elbow waiting to be called. The bar area is small and it was packed. Once checked in the wait was just shy of 30 minutes. They seated us at a two top in what I'll call the sun room. No charm here. The only problem is that we were next to a group of six that were having a really good time and were extremely noisy. Luck of the draw! We started with chips, salsa, quacomole, salsa and margaritas. The chips were thick and a bit hard. The quacolome was good but nothing out of the ordinary. The salsa was run of the mill. I ordered flat chicken enchiladas with green chili sauce. They were very good. When Jan serves these at home she calls them stacked enchiladas. Jan ordered the tamale plate and said they were excellent. In summary, the food is very good and that's the most important thing when dining out. The restaurant was slammed and very noisy. The service was OK, the prices moderate.
Cute little spot right by the rail yard. Went for a late lunch and had a wonderful experience. Great service and great atmosphere. Ordered a couple dishes beef sopapillas and chicken enchilada. Really big portion sizes and staff was so friendly (helped with sauce levels). We also had pine cheesecake- different but really good as well as they start you off will sopapillas and butter/honey (IN house honey) aka SOO GOOD- the combo was amazing. Overall great experience and a must for sopapillas

Really good service, staff are friendly. The food is amazing too (forgive me if it's not a 9/10 to locals since I'm Chinese and I never tried any Mexican style cuisine other than tacos before). Anyways the place is overall great. Nice ambience and has pretty big parking space. read more

This is obviously a locals favorite. We rolled into town last Sunday morning so we weren't surprised to see a big wait to dine here. It's a big enough place but very popular. They told us it would be 15-20 minutes but it was no more than 10. Service was prompt and friendly. A shoutout to America! The food had the New Mexico fire we were looking for. My wife declared the enchiladas her favorite of the trip. read more

Christian was the best server!!! And we had alot of tasty food I appreciate the speed of service and the friendly faces! Especially recommend the swirl margaritas!!! You can only get two but that is all you need! read more
We have eaten here in the past when we lived in Santa Fe and always have had very good experiences. This particular time we dined out on the patio since we had our dog Henry with us. We were told the wait was about 20 minutes and we got seated in about 35 minutes. Our server was friendly and attentive for being as busy as the were. The ground beef stuffed sopapilla and beef tamale both smoothered with green chille, and the ground beef taco were all great. The salsa with our salsa and chip side was very good, and the sopapilla with honey butter was great. Overall, we had a nice dinner amd some great food. read more

Of all the Mexican restaurants in Santa Fe, this one remains one of our favorites! Always packed with a wait and you can tell it is an even mix of locals and tourists which tells you all you need to know. Service is always prompt, attentive and friendly. Our waitress today, while busy with a full section, kept our drinks full, checked in with us multiple times and even stayed to have a brief friendly conversation. Interior is rustic and authentic Santa Fe style. Always clean and well kept. Enchiladas were generous size and more than adequately stuffed. I got green chili just because it is my personal favorite and it was very tasty. Beans and rice are a wonderful accompaniment although I honestly couldn't finish the sides due to the generous portions in the enchiladas. Flautas were also generous and deep fried perfectly. Flavors were well balanced and complimented by the variety of toppings. The waitress was very accommodating to have them smothered in green chili and to swap out pesole for the rice. The perfect finish to our meal is always the fresh, warm sopaipillas which are served with cinnamon butter and honey! read more

Came to Sante Fe for a day trip with my friend on my birthday and ended up having my birthday lunch here. We didn't have a reservation and though the place was packed for a weekday, we didn't have to wait at Al. Service was quick and polite and yes they ask you if you want them to sing happy birthday to you on your day :) As a Mexican coming from Los Angeles, I am very practiced with both Mexican cuisine + spicy foods. All this to say; I'm still confused how they advertise their chili as spicy (in fact, quite spicy!) when their chili was a 2/10 spice level at best (think... Chipotle's pico de gallo sauce). Mexican plate (lighter meal) 2/5 this was ,, just okay and more plain / bland than anything. It is definitely a lighter meal but I wasn't super hungry so this was perfect for me. read more
We're from Texas and usually wine and dine our way across the enchanted land, hitting local spots, doing the tourist thing, and soaking it all in. But somehow... every trip, we end up spending at least one night at Tomasita's. It's like it calls to us. The margaritas are strong, the food's always solid, and those sopapillas? Downright addictive. Now, full disclosure we're die-hard Tex-Mex people. It's in our DNA. But Tomasita's? They've managed to scratch that itch more than once. The flavors hit right, the vibe's easygoing, and the staff is always on point. Tonight we even caught the mariachi band (we've seen them a few times around town) and they always bring the energy. Tomasita's is a classic staple of Santa Fe, NM. Renowned for their classic and upbeat New Mexico dishes! Oozing with flavor! Let's start with the phenomenal customer service! They make you feel welcome, they make you smile! You will want to come back! The ambiance is very lively. I was greeted and seated promptly despite this establishment being full to the brim. To start my meal, I ordered delicious salsa and chips which came with a salsa that was beyond appetizing and had a smooth spice kick! Next I was recommended the combination plate which consisted of a beef crunchy taco, one chicken enchilada, and a chile relleno with rice and beans. The flavors of the green and red chili were so bold! I could taste that this dish was cooked with pure love. The portions were also generous! To finish my meal off, I had a sopapilla. What makes their sopapillas special, is the fact that they come with a sweet brown sugar and honey butter. Yum! What an experience! I will definitely be back for more. Cheers! read more
Save your time and money. This is overhyped. We waited almost 2 hours, so bland Tex-Mex. As someone from Texas, I was shocked at how horrible this food is passed off for such a long wait. I literally could find this food in 20 different spots across one Houston neighborhood. I think hype is really playing this place up. The temale reminded me of an Amy's frozen meal. I eat them often and was like this tastes soooo familiar. Their beef tacos was the saving grace. Amazing, flavorful, crunchy. If I were Tomasita's, I'd be pushing these tacos!! They taste way better than that green chile sauce they are pushing. read more

Really good! This was on my list of must try places while we were in town. We went for dinner on Labor Day and only had about a 5 minute wait before we were seated. They don't take reservations or call aheads, so keep that in mind. We sat outside and it was lovely, a little dark at first until the string lights finally came on, but once on it was lovely out there. I ordered the rolled enchilada and tamale plate, and it was fantastic. The flavors were amazing, it felt like comfort food, and was perfectly filling. It even came with sopapillas to the table with honey butter! Our service was great and attentive thanks to Valeria. There were a few things I wanted to try, so if I lived in the area I would absolutely be back! read more
Quick, friendly service. It's usually busy, but the wait is never long. It's casual dining with indoor and outdoor seating located near the Railyard. They offer a large variety of New Mexican cuisine, margaritas and the sopapilla! Yum! read more
Arrived around 2ish and were sat right away in their dog friendly patio. Well shaded and everyone was very friendly. Cute decor and ambiance. Overall the food was okay BUT their chile bowl was DELICIOUS 5 stars simple ingredients and so much flavor. You can add meat and other items and cheese. The sopaipilla is 5 stars you HAVE to get it. I could eat like 5 of them. The spicy margarita was indeed spicy which I loved. Def will come back for more Chile bowls. read more

If you're in Santa Fe this place is a must. Dinner time gets busy so if you want to skip the wait opt for visiting during lunch time or earlier in the afternoon. Being an appetite because portions will be huge. The red and green chili is a treat and I cannot rave about it enough. The green has flavor and it's a great complement to the food itself and brings out the spice in every bite. The red is full of flavors and also very thick.. oh so yummy! Additionally they are not stingy with the portions here especially if ordering the enchiladas, so expect to get a lot of delicious chicken in your dish. Every dish is slightly different in some ways. Some get served with rice and beans, some with refried beans, some with the beans and pozole (not the typical pozole you're thinking but more so the hominy). The star of the show.. the sopapilla.. how you choose to enjoy it that's on you but for me the best way is as dessert with the honey butter and honey, a cloud of delicious in every bite. Service is great also. Restaurant is clean and the servers work hard to accommodate everyone and the food comes out fast. This place is a hit for both locals and tourists alike! read more

The place was in the parking lot of the Railrunner. The food was quite tasty, but I was unable to enjoy it much due to a person sitting next to me after I had been served. It was quite crowded at the bar where I was eating. The bartender was very nice and served me well. I think I ate at the Thomasitas in ABQ about 20 years ago. read more
Searching for a good dinner place in the city and this came up easily. It was a long wait but one can order drinks at the bar while waiting. If you are okay with sitting at the bar, you can do that as well on a first-come, first-served basis. The staff are great, from the receptionist to the server, crew, and baristas. I think the drinks were great and the mango swirl margarita quickly became my favorite. Their bread which serves as a side is a bomb! I did enjoy my menudo although I have to admit that the red sauce is what I prefer but they only have the white one. The steak meat is okay but could be better in that it's not medium-rare cooked and the meat was a bit hard. Ambiance is lively and the bathroom is clean. I will give it a 4 for now. read more

Tomasita's the end all be all for me when wanting a meal in New Mexico. I stumbled upon this restaurant while traveling. Everything is good. That may sound dramatic and I'm sure you've heard it before but listen, everything. is. good. You will not be disappointed. The servers are friendly, fun, kind, and welcoming. They take time to get to know your interests and have a great connection with regulars. The patio seating is my preference. It's warm, beautiful and vibrant indoors beautifully matching the landscape. read more
Went on the Railrunner with friends for a day of play. Weather was fabulous. Decided on an early lunch at Tomasita's restaurant. It had been 10 years since I had dined there. Ambiance is terrific. Our server was patient and answered all of our questions. The chicken enchiladas were divine! Thought the red chili was delicious. My friends did cheese and beef enchiladas. They preferred the green. Food portion is more than generous. The sopapias were gigantic!We decided we should have asked them to serve at the end of our meal so they stayed warm. However, they were still excellent! Our waiter was king enough to split our check three ways. Made it convenient. Will definitely make a point of going again! read more

I ordered the special which was Enchiladas de Swiss, stuffed with chicken, and covered with green chile mushroom sauce. It came with refried beans, and Spanish rice. The service was great, and my house margaritas were too! The restaurant is fairly large, with a lot of nooks and rooms to dine in. read more
If you're arriving to Santa Fe on the Rail Runner from Albuquerque, Tomasita's is right next to the Santa Fe Depot Station. Being my first time dining at this restaurant, I was able to try their red and green chiles and both were delicious. For lunch, I ordered the tamale plate that had 2 pork tamales, one cheese enchilada, and of course rice and beans and I got the meal Christmas style which allowed me enjoy both chile sauces in one meal. The meal itself was delicious and nowhere near what we have in Las Vegas. It also came with a fresh, hot sopaipilla. Make sure to have it with honey. With the restaurant busy, the staff were friendly and brought out anything that you needed. Overall this is a restaurant I will return to. read more
This place is huge. Multiple dining rooms, a bar in the front, a relatively huge parking lot. Even with a large crowd waiting for a table, we got seated pretty damn quickly. Our waitress was great. Our food was just good. I ordered a salad, my fault it was average but you don't come to Tomalsita's for a salad. I don't remember exactly what my friends ordered. They were satisfied with their meal. But actually, I think they liked their drinks better there's nothing wrong with this place. But it is definitely a tourist spot. read more
