The friendlies that work at Valentine are exactly that; which is why I enjoy coming to this nail salon. I tend to dabble around to different places depending on who I am getting my nails done with that time. Every lady I know has a different favorite place that serves them well. My friend Kathy is new to the island but we have been friends for over ten years and we used to get our nails done in NYC every two weeks like clockwork. So when Kathy moved here, she needed to find a reliable nail salon and I helped her find this lovely place thru Yelp. Each time we go, we make a call and set up an appointment, usually day of and a few hours before, because is can get very busy. We usually get the regular pedicure, but for her birthday this week we sprung for the deluxe $35. Holy crap was it worth it! They start with an oil wrap in a bag to get your feet soft, then they release your toes so they can start doing the basics. After that, they get to work on the massaging of lotions and gels that leave you relaxed and tingly. I felt exactly the way you should and better, when getting a pedicure! If you feel so inclined as to get a manicure, they will likely do it in the pedicure chair to save time and you can keep the massage chair going so it's a win win situation. Today, was my first time here & I really enjoyed my experience. It's a family owned business and a very welcoming one at that. I observed the great relationship between the owners and their returning customers. They are really loved by their loyal customers and I can see why. The best was meeting Valentina, the owners 7 year old daughter, who gifted me with a Christmas present . She is truly a wonderful little girl. Okay, so...let's get to the services provided. I called to schedule an appointment because I needed my nails redone ASAP and they were able to take me in right away! Very grateful. I was greeted and serviced as soon as I walked through the door. I loved how comfortable I felt right away. Philip, was the kind gentlemen working on my nails. I made the appointment for the full-set (Gel) but Philip saw that I already had nails on and suggested a refill instead to keep my cost down. I was amazed because nail techs are always suggesting up-sells and most charge for every little thing and instead, Philip was helping me to keep costs down. Made me love this place even more! I also loved how he listens to what you want. I told him exactly what I wanted and he made sure that he gave me what I wanted. I just want to say I stand by my first review. This place really is the best that I've been to since- well, ever! MY FAVORITE NAIL SALON. I am pregnant and I left happy! I went in and got gel-less nails, on Sunday and it's holding up really well so far. I have a two year old and let's just say regular nail polish has usually chipped at least in one place by now ~ but my nails look just as they did when I left on Sunday :) Also, I had them give me a holiday pedicure. I wanted something Halloween-y. Minh did my finger's and Phillip freehanded my toes. Minh is quiet but sweet and Phillip is very friendly and talkative. Phillip owns this place and I really think he's great at customer service as he prides in his shop. He kept double checking to make sure I was happy with my nails, which I thought was nice and I appreciated. I say definitely try this place, cost wise I believe it's cheaper than other places as well plus they give really great foot/leg massages ~ primarily why I like them so much :) Check out my original review for more details! Pretty upset with the way my nails turned out. The shape is on point yes on POINT, but the nail polish application is very messy and all over my cuticle and around my nail which will cause this set to not last very long. I've been getting my nails done for 5+ years and NEVER had this happen. I'm very honest with my nail tech and usually say something but this time I didn't. The salon was short handed with only 3 tech's and a clientele waiting with 3. I can't make my way back cause I don't live near Kaneohe so I will have to go into another salon to get this redone. Nail polish selection is Lousy...that could be why this turned out like shit. I like the people but I won't be coming back. I also got a pedicure. First time going back to regular polish as I always select gel. The polish application is very uneven. I have lumps and bumps and the surface is not smooth at all. I will also have to go into another salon to get this polish fixed. I paid $75 yesterday and will probably have to spend $30 today to get it all fixed. I'm upset. read more

I so hate to do this, I really do, but I feel like this review must be made. Let me just start by saying they are extremely nice, they're customer service is great and the owner has always been sweet to me, but their quality of work is just not up to par. I used to come here years ago to see Rachel and she was the best. I moved away, but just happened to be in the area again and i needed a nail fix. These aren't my normal nail people, but I felt like I haven't been there for a while so I went in to just fix the ONE nail. First off, she ended up doing a full on manicure with dip powder. She was making conversation and I was also on the phone so I was going in and out on what she was doing. She proceeded to ask me how much I paid for my dip powder I told her $35 at Formanails in Waikele, she told me no and that it was too cheap for dip powder (which I thought was kind of unprofessional, because I lowkey felt like she was calling me a liar while indirectly preparing me that their price was way more than that), but I brushed it off and didn't think anything more of it. Secondly, their selection of dip powder is quite small, they only had about 8 or 9 colors to choose from, I chose a color that was close to nude. Shortly after we opened the bottle and seen there wasn't much powder left in the bottle, the worker told me it was too light and kind of coaxed me towards this other color she said looked more nude which also happened to have more product in it. I'm not sure if she was uncomfortable with dipping my finger in a bottle with a small amount of powder, but that's what it seemed like. The color she said would be "nude" turned out to be ORANGE ORANGE . It's very far from what I wanted now that I see it in the day light, I absolutely hate it. Lastly, I asked her to keep the nail length and not to cut down. She proceeded to file my nails literally down to my skin. When she was using the drill looking tool (not sure what it's called, electric filer?) to smooth out the dip powder she kept scuffing my cuticles and now they're all blistered and inflamed. My nails are bulky and thick, and she painted over my cuticles; it literally looks like chipping blobs of cracking glue are on my nails and to top it off the color is just horrible. I got there around 545pm and didn't leave until around 730pm just for a "one nail fix." I paid $55 for this hack job, also she charged me for the polish removal (which I didn't want to begin with). I did give her a tip because she was extremely sweet which is why I gave this 2 stars and not 1. They really do have great customer service and are very nice, but I'm questioning whether they are that way because they know their quality is not up to par. I did feel a little "conned" into paying that ridiculous amount when she told me $35 was too cheap for dip powder. She sounded so sweet when she asked me to the point where I felt like I was wrong so I asked my cousin after I left the shop and she confirmed all we paid was $35 in Waikele. I honestly feel like I should get a refund because this quality of work is just way below average and shouldn't be a "business." I'm not one to even write reviews, or be judgementabout something like this but I'm just so disappointed. My nails are literally ruined and they just look ugly to be quite honest. It hasn't even been 24 hours since I've done them and they just look so horrible. I will never ever come back here to do my nails and I really hope that they can educate their workers to doing better jobs before charging crazy ass prices for the lowest quality of work. read more

Very welcoming with not only good prices, but also good customer service. However, we were disappointed with their services. I received a fill. Resulting in, clumpy, thicker nails. As they were doing my nails, it was very messy. They got gel polish on my hands and tried to scrape it off after. The gel nail polish wasn't consistent. I can still see streak marks of areas they missed. Also, I had several cuts on most of my fingers due to over filing and drilling. As for pedicure, they were overall good. Good massage, good cleaning. However, one of my toe nails had scratch marks all over it. And the other nails had bubbles under the gel polish. read more

I was in Kaneohe and wanted to get a mani pedi, so I checked Yelp for some reviews of spots nearby and made some calls to find the best rate! Valentine had the best deal for MANI PEDI only $35, wowza! Or, $10 more for the deluxe pedicure. Still, dealz!!!! Arrived, ample parking out front. My technician Philip and his wife are the owners and are just the nicest people. Upon entering they both individually greeted me very warmly and sincerely said to me (and everyone who came in), "thank you so much for coming in." I thought that was such a nice touch to show how appreciative they are. Sometimes you go into establishments and you almost feel like an inconvenience ya know? But not here, you feel welcome like a friend or family. They have a big spread of nail colors, and overall a clean and nice space. Complimentary water, and their own restroom. Comfortable massage chairs as well. I got to know Philip and learned that he is from Nha Trang, a beautiful coastal city, in Vietnam, which I've had the privilege to have visited. I had a lovely conversation with him, we talked about Vietnam generally, but mostly we talked about Vietnamese food, so yummmy! I asked him what his fave pho place is and he said he loves Pho 777. Always go where the nationals go! They know their countries food! Ok sorry random pho tip, haha...back to nails. I opted for the deluxe pedicure for $10 more and it was well worth it, $45 total. Philip gave a lovely foot and leg massage and asked how the pressure was, which is always appreciated. Enjoyed the exfoliation scrub. He added a bit of tiger balm to the moisturizer mask on my legs and it felt so good! Good for the circulation and so refreshing. I really got a kick out of putting my feet in bags with warm pink wax, man it felt so good!!! Overall great pedicure! My only recommendation would be that his sweet wife (Im so sorry I didn't get her name) be a little more attentive when she applies the nail polish. Her application was somewhat messy and incomplete. She missed the sides of multiple fingernails and I had to keep pointing them out to her and asking that she please fill in all the empty spots. Also some of the tips didn't have polish. And because I had to keep pointing all the spots she missed I would clumsily bump/smear my freshly painted nails, I apologized as it was totally my fault and I felt bad she had to fix them. She was very nice about it though, didn't make me feel bad for messing them up. Now that I'm thinking of it, It was kind of awkward sitting in the massage chair getting my nails done? Maybe it was also hard for her because they kept me in the massage chair for the fingernail polish painting, I'm sure it would have been much easier for her had I been moved me to one of the open nail stations? Maybe they just wanted to let me stay in the massage chair as a courtesy? IDK lol. Although I appreciate that, I would recommend the nail station next time for fingers. Also would recommend doing an inspection after the polish dries to clean up any messy spots/off the nail accident. I had to ask Philip to please remove the polish on my cuticles and around some of my toe nails. A final up close inspection is a must for next time please!!! Very important. But with all things considered, I really love this salon. The owners are just so sweet. I enjoyed being the newbie amongst all their regulars (I think it's a good sign when there's regulars)...everyone who came in was addressed by name and dabbled in familiar conversation, "how's your baby?" "How came we never see you last week?"...I love that. Most of all though I enjoyed chatting with Philip. You can tell how appreciate he and his wife are for your business, and they're so warm, you feel like you're hanging out with friends/family. Also thank you Philip, I mentioned how I can never find the nail surface buffer they use, and he gifted me the one before I left the salon. Can't wait to come back!! Highly recommend! I've been here three times and every experience has been a good one. Philip is the owner and he is very customer- oriented and friendly. He always has a big smile on his face, so I felt welcomed immediately. Minh is really quiet, but his attention to detail and work is great. They hired a new girl- Diane. She just started two weeks ago. She's worked on me twice already and I have been pleased with both my manicures. Parking can be pretty bad sometimes. There are only a few available spots. I like going on Mondays or Tuesdays because the other days get pretty crowded. Overall, prices aren't outrageous and service is excellent. The only thing that I don't like is that their nail polish colors aren't organized neatly. All the colors are randomly placed wherever there is a spot. If you want to find a pink shade, you have to find all the pinks on the shelves and then you compare them. It would make the process go by faster if they just color coordinated the nail polishes. read more

I've been coming here for years and I receive excellent service every time. Today was by far the BEST service from Laura. She treats you like a queen and goes the extra minute to make sure you are well taken cared of and fully satisfied. Her massages are awesome, she definitely has a "gift" in knowing what areas to massage extra on and where your problem areas are. She's very sweet and engages in conversation. I wasn't trilled with my nail polish color but was going to keep it anyways, she could tell I didn't like it and offered to change the color. I didn't want to be humbug but she insisted that she wanted to make sure I was happy and when I leave here I always want to come back. This is the best set of French tips I've ever had. Thank you Phillip! When I go to any other salons, I find flaws the next day. Sometimes a nail is crooked, or they missed a spot, but these are absolutely flawless! Also the fastest I've ever seen anyone do a full set. I've gotten a manicure & pedicure done here before in November 2013 & I was pretty pleased with the result so I came back yesterday (3/13/14). I was pulling into the drive way behind an SUV when the driver stopped right in front of me, making me block traffic. She took her time reversing into the furthest stall so I could not get around her. I wound up blocking traffic while she finished her park job. Oh well. I pulled into a stall and noticed Valentine nails wasn't open even though it was after 9. I verified that they were supposed to open at 9 & not 9:30 or 10. I then saw the woman who took her sweet time parking come over & open up the salon AFTER 9. She was also talking on her phone the whole time. I was pretty disappointed to see that punctuality is not something Valentine Nails' employees deem important. I walked in on their first full day as the new owner/occupant of what used to be, "Nails Lane." Upon walking in I was stunned to find out Nails Lane had changed ownership and it was completely new people working there. I was informed about the change of ownership and what happened to the couple that owned the former store. That morning they were busy cleaning, organizing and getting situated, but they were friendly as ever, they were so open and held a good conversation. I ordered a pedicure and eye brow waxing. I was more than pleased with my pedicure. The lady that was working on my toes was meticulous and I had never seen anyone do such fab work on such a simple paint coat. She was a perfectionist and you could see it. 2 weeks out, my toes still look like they came out of the salon, and this is with daily slipper wear and a trip to the beach! After the pedi, I opted in for the eye brow wax to test it out. She was always very meticulous with the waxing and plucking. I loved her and her friend that helped.
