The restaurant itself was clean, calm, and welcoming, and the food coming out of the kitchen looked really good. They do offer gluten-free buns, which was exciting to see at first. When I asked about the meats though, the person at the counter let me know that their meat options aren't gluten-free. Since I have Celiac disease, that meant I wasn't able to order anything. I did appreciate how straightforward and accommodating the staff were about it. They answered my questions without hesitation, which is always helpful when navigating gluten-free dining. Even though I couldn't eat there, the place looked well run and the atmosphere was nice. I'd still recommend it if gluten isn't a concern.

My kid had a hot pastrami sandwich. Let me start by saying that my sandwich was not only perfect, but it was massive. Expensive? Yes. But I more than got what I paid for. This felt like it was right around a pound of meat absolutely massive, it's 7 hours later and I am not even close to hungry. Great value here! Staff is friendly too. Basic interior, nothing fancy here. But the good is great. I highly suggest you order at the counter, not the kiosk, they have a ton of stuff not on the menu on the kiosk! J.Ja

They have an extensive menu to include vegetarian options which was nice to see. They also have many local brands to include chips, sodas, and other small local business products (caramelized nuts, baked goods, etc.)! On the topic of local businesses, they also had a board which allowed local owners to post business cards and event alerts, fantastic for drawing the community together. Now, I ordered a Reuben as a lover of corned beef and sauerkraut. It was delicious and sizeable, a fair portion size for the money as well. The chips were also delicious having gone for the salt, pepper, and onion variety. A solid crunch and bursting with flavor. Among the positives I have two negatives, both of which are not adequate enough to lower their star ranking. Firstly, it took around 20-25 minutes to get our food after ordering. I rarely hold timing against a restaurant as having worked in food, I know lunch rush exists and things happen. To mitigate this (for those in the area) I believe they have an online ordering system, which I would recommend utilizing! Secondly, they do not have indoor seating, so it is a very grab and go type establishment. This is counteracted by the multitude of benches around Royal Oak, though it would be nice to have some amount of seating, especially for those with accessibility needs and those waiting on their food. Overall, Oak House Deli is solid and delicious and I will definitely stop by again when I am in the area!

First of all the burger week place should have had open/close times listed on the app. Second, it's sliced deli meat... you can't slice up some lunch meat a few minutes before 11am. That's crazy. Edit: came back next day and actually HAD the sandwich I came for. Sandwich was VERY good. A little too much sauce but otherwise great. Flavor was good. Customer service still wasn't the best. Took 30 minutes for a sandwich. But I did get a free pickle.

I ordered the Clong, which was a very generous turkey sandwich with provolone cheese, lettuce, pickled shallot, tomato spread with herbed mayo. Ended up taking half the sandwich home. It's a coffee shop, a pizza joint, and a full-service bar all rolled into one effortlessly cool, swanky package. The interior design is a masterclass in versatility. Whether you're looking to camp out on a couch with and chat it out with friends, grab a high-top to do some serious damage to some menu offerings, or post up at the counter get a few extra key strokes on the old laptop -- cough so good you might they've got you covered. It's a rare spot where the "working/studying" crowd, the socialites, and the pure "grubbers" all coexist in perfect harmony. A quick heads-up on the logistics: there is a decent-sized parking lot in the back, but because it's a shared space with other businesses, weekend nights can turn into a bit of a high-stakes game of musical chairs. My advice? Get there early, or just be prepared to circle once or twice. The coffee and pastries are legitimately elite--so good that you might forget you're also sitting in a darn good pizza spot. I haven't personally tackled the pizza yet, but based on the intoxicating aromas drifting from neighboring tables and the sheer visual appeal of the pies I saw being partook in, it is officially next on my hit list. And if you're looking for something with a bit more of a kick than a fancy cup of joe, they appear to have pretty solid libations. I intended to take a few photos for the grid, but I was so hungry that my cardamom latte and slice of blueberry loaf vanished before I could even reach for my phone. That's probably the highest compliment I can give. Mother Handsome is a must-visit, and you can bet I'll be back--if only to finally get that pizza photo before I inhale it.
