While cruising through the heart of Royal Oak, I noticed this little deli shop, calling my name past apartment buildings and local scenery. They have an extensive menu to include vegetarian options which was nice to see. They also have many local brands to include chips, sodas, and other small local business products (caramelized nuts, baked goods, etc.)! On the topic of local businesses, they also had a board which allowed local owners to post business cards and event alerts, fantastic for drawing the community together. Now, I ordered a Reuben as a lover of corned beef and sauerkraut. It was delicious and sizeable, a fair portion size for the money as well. The chips were also delicious having gone for the salt, pepper, and onion variety. A solid crunch and bursting with flavor. Among the positives I have two negatives, both of which are not adequate enough to lower their star ranking. Firstly, it took around 20-25 minutes to get our food after ordering. I rarely hold timing against a restaurant as having worked in food, I know lunch rush exists and things happen. To mitigate this (for those in the area) I believe they have an online ordering system, which I would recommend utilizing! Secondly, they do not have indoor seating, so it is a very grab and go type establishment. This is counteracted by the multitude of benches around Royal Oak, though it would be nice to have some amount of seating, especially for those with accessibility needs and those waiting on their food. Came here for the burger week, and the door was open and people working inside. I came in to order and after me being in there for a few minutes the guy told me they arent open. lol. First of all the burger week place should have had open/close times listed on the app. Second, it's sliced deli meat... you can't slice up some lunch meat a few minutes before 11am. That's crazy. Their energy is a huge part of what makes this local deli so special. And then there's the food. They are definitely a takeout place, but I can't tell if they will have seating once they finish moving. They are relocating to a different unit in the same complex. I came here for a nice lunch and it did not disappoint. I rode a bike here and while there was no bike rack for me to place the bike, there was a large side walk with a bench that was very helpful for eating and parking the bike. Inside, there is no seating, it is just a deli counter but overall, very chill and clean. The food was overall delicious! The conflicted Ruben was definitely something different. I didn't love the potato salad because the potatoes could be cooked a little more so they were softer however I know many people who enjoy their potato's that are firmer. Service was very quick. Okay so the last time we went there we both got the sh**ts instantly. We had to throw half our sammy out. Thank God we have 2 bathrooms. It was a long time before we went back, but this time I got the deluxe and it was the best sammich I've had in a long time. Their bread was toasted perfectly. I will say their sandwich pickles are the cheap, yellow ones, not the refrigerator, Claussen ones. So I took them off and then the sammy was perfect. I'll go again. As you can see from my photos, the Roast Beef and Cheddar sandwich was nothing but a thin layer of meat, barely any cheddar, and some horseradish sauce. Half of my sandwich barely had enough roast beef to justify it costing $12.99. A rip-off that does not include chips or drink, just a pickle included in that price. I have gotten much better sandwiches at Jimmy John's. Even a fast food restaurant like Arby's will give more roast beef and cheddar. In short...YUM! In long...YUM IN MY TUM! This deli has been on my radar for quite a while and I finally got to try it! My friend placed a group order and picked it up for all of us, so I can't attest to the in person deli experience, but if it's anything like how good the food was, this place deserves 6 stars!!!
