Rachel's Rueben
Janey B.

Busy day at the pain clinic our Fearless Vegan leader suggested we try out Oak House Deli. We all wanted a good sandwich. However, what was delivered were Amazing and Delicious sandwiches!!! Vegan Rueben, Regular Rueben, Ham and Swiss on an onion roll with lettuce, tomatoes and onions. Great Lakes chips and sides of pickles and coleslaw. 10/10

A vegan sandwich staple. The food is really good I've tried almost all of the sandwiches and they are truly delicious. I'm going to maybe try every sandwich on the menu. The dessert is really good too and vegan ! And the staff is knowledgeable and they give great recommendations

The kindest, most genuinely helpful staff I've ever met. These folks are simply good people--always smiling, whether it's the end of a long day or the middle of a packed lunch rush. Their energy is a huge part of what makes this local deli so special. And then there's the food. A full vegan menu with everything from sandwiches and salads to desserts, all made with top-notch ingredients like Crispelli's breads, Herbivorous Butcher products, and Unreal vegan meats and cheeses. The omni menu is massive too, so there's truly something for everyone. I'm still dreaming about ordering both vegan and non-vegan party subs for my next event. Love supporting this delicious, hardworking local deli.

Ordered for lunch and was impressed by how amazing and fresh everything was. Could easily be lunch and dinner. Portions are great for price and quality. I had a conflicted Reuben on sourdough with tomatoes and lettuce and the vegan broccoli crunch salad. Yum!!

Oak House Deli is a great spot for sandwiches in Royal Oak. They have a large menu with lots of vegan options. The Spicy Italian Sandwich was fresh and delicious. The service was great. They are definitely a takeout place, but I can't tell if they will have seating once they finish moving. They are relocating to a different unit in the same complex. Regardless, it was clean inside, and there was plenty of space to wait for your order to be ready. Overall, I would recommend giving this spot a try!

Soooo good! Randomly found this on yelp. So glad we stopped! We all got something different and it was delicious and fresh! The staff was also so nice and helpful!

Kmart Sub

I've been seeing Kmart subs making a small comeback and have been wanting to try one. So, I got one which was significantly better than what I remembered. If you decide to get one, please note they put mustard on them. Easy place to grab a quit bite with free parking in front. No backing in to space.

Are you kidding me??? Easily the best sandwich I've ever had in my life. The cookie lava was excellent, key lime pie was incredibly moist, but the peanut butter explosion was very stale - I'm sure it's great fresh. Any time I want a sandwich I'll be back! Order ready roughly ten minutes after ordering online - can't beat it.

I tried the spicy turkey and bacon sandwich and it was delicious! loved the softness of the bread, spicy mayo, and the generous portion size for a decent price. the staff was friendly! minimal seating to eat there, but fast service for you to enjoy your meal at home :) can't wait to try more sandwiches!

I've had Oak House Deli on my radar for a while and it didn't disappoint! I got two sandwiches and asked for the coleslaw and thousand island on the side so it wouldn't get soggy to eat the next day. I really wish there were more delis that had vegan options! The only downside is there isn't seating inside, but they are quick and efficient (and super nice!) for takeout.

The Conflicted Corned Beef and Pastrami on Rye. Unfortunately it was just average and not much meat compared to the bread and slaw

Walking in, there was very limited seating and about an hour wait, which clearly showed how popular this spot is. Thankfully, the hostess told us about their basement bar area where you can grab drinks and snacks while waiting. The downstairs area had such a cool speakeasy vibe dark ambiance, vinyl music playing, and honestly the perfect date night atmosphere. The drinks were REALLY good, and you can also order appetizers down there. Once we made it upstairs, we grabbed bar seating and talked to a few people around us who all said this was their favorite spot. Our bartender was amazing -- super attentive, explained the menu well, and gave great recommendations. We ordered the wings (perfectly seasoned and so good) and the chicken sandwich with buffalo added for a little spice... absolutely delicious. I also tried the pistachio martini, and wow definitely one of my favorite drinks I've had in a while. Overall, such a great experience from the atmosphere to the food and service. I'll definitely be back, and I've already been telling all my friends about this place!

Central Park Deli was the first restaurant on the list to participate. The article said mention the ad from Troy Times or Facebook to get the 20% off your bill. Afterwards, save your receipt to turn into the Troy school of your choice. The school that collects the most money in receipts will win $1,000 cash prize. Unfortunately the employees said no, we aren't participating in that and other customers mention this and we won't honor the discount. I showed them the FB announcement where their Deli was clearly listed and they still said No. ??? This made me frustrated. My total for a wrap, cauliflower bites, and a drink was $22. No discount. False advertising and unpleasant customer service. I posted the Facebook announcement of their restaurant listed below in my pictures. On the positive side, the deli is very clean and food was delicious. Their menu is extensive with many choices of wraps, salads, sandwiches and soup. I appreciate you can customize your wrap with a gluten-free wrap and not many delis in the area have that option.

I very much enjoyed the sandwich but the value at $17 is a little much - the height was perfect but felt the overall size was a bit lacking. Also - depending on your preference, I would probably order extra coleslaw if I ordered this sandwich again, the ratio of beef to slaw was a bit lacking. The cream of broccoli was a nice accompaniment to the sandwich but was kind of salty and a bit on the starchy side. Overall - definitely a good place for a deli sandwich just a little on the pricey side - think Zingermans without the friendly service....

My best friend and I used to ride our bikes here to grab a corned beef on a Kaiser roll. Well, one thing I can say. I can no longer just recycle cans to pay for my sandwich. The prices have definitely increased, but I guess that's par for the course. I also didn't get a sandwich once I saw they had the egg rolls on the menu. Glad I did. While they weren't anything to necessarily write home about, they went very well with my salad for lunch. They were crunchy and the corned beef inside was quite tender, however the meat lacked flavor and I didn't care for it being served with sauce. Would love a bold mustard type sauce. Will ask if that's available next time. Gonna have to go back for the sandwich. Just to see if it brings me back to my teenage years. Service was quick and professional. No complaints.

The restaurant itself was clean, calm, and welcoming, and the food coming out of the kitchen looked really good. They do offer gluten-free buns, which was exciting to see at first. When I asked about the meats though, the person at the counter let me know that their meat options aren't gluten-free. Since I have Celiac disease, that meant I wasn't able to order anything. I did appreciate how straightforward and accommodating the staff were about it. They answered my questions without hesitation, which is always helpful when navigating gluten-free dining.
