I really enjoy this spot whenever I visit. Their sandwiches are really good. Today, I got the Chicken Ceasar with a salad and a cookie for dessert. They make take and bake pizzas here, but it gives me family corner deli vibes. Where you can go for a quick bite and meet up with a friend. The service was nice and knowledgeable. I didn't know what I wanted at first, and they were so patient. But about the sandwich. SO GOOD! The bread was perfectly toasted, and the chicken was freshly made chicken. It was delicious. This was one of the worst meals I've had in a long time. The sub sandwiches were extremely disappointing, the salami tasted disgusting and even seemed rotten. Each sandwich was $14, and I bought two. I also ordered a personal pizza, and my son wouldn't eat more than one slice. The only decent item was the cookie, and that wasn't even made by them; it came from a different company in Oxnard. I first discovered Valentino's when I lived/worked in Camarillo; I used to visit that store frequently. I never really enjoyed the concept of take and bake pizza but the staff informed me I could get a personal pizza baked in store! I was stoked! I was sad to move to Ventura until I realized we have a Valentinos, too! The chicken cordon bleu pizza is unique and hits the comfort food devil just how I like it! The Thai chicken salad is also a stand out with an amazing warm dressing. Who knew?! I enjoy their sandwiches and salads as well. I love that they are connected to the coffee shop next door so I can cover all of my bases (coffee, pizza, avocado toast, treats, etc.). I will give fair warning to stay far away from this place around 3:00pm when Ventura High gets out. It becomes a MAD HOUSE of rude, glued to cellphone teenage minions. The staff here is pleasant enough but sometimes it's hit or miss (either very happy to see you or don't bother me). They did suggest the homemade chocolate cake to me which I later learned was pushed most likely because it was probably going to go bad (it was pretty dry)... but their treats are pretty good most of the time. Parking isn't that great so plan accordingly. Really cool and unique spot; great concept. I will support places like this over chain pizza places any day. read more

They have some pasta options. Alfredo, spaghetti, and lasagna ~$10-12. They come frozen so you have to put in oven. I got spaghetti and many noodles were dried out, not much sauce, and 2 meatballs that I feel lacked flavor. Their sandwiches and pizzas are good but I don't recommend the pasta. This place used to be good. This is a very sad Italian sandwich. It does not have any Italian dressing on it. And there was also a hair on one of the sandwiches. Thank God. My husband doesn't care about that. But I definitely wouldn't eat it. Kind of sad because this place used to be really good. Not sure what happened. And also very disappointed about the Italian dressing. There is none. It is very dry, and we bought seven sandwiches to feed our family. Decided to give this place a try after reading up on it on Yelp and wow, I am so happy I decided to give this place a try. This place is truly AMAZING. I am huge pizza lover and I will have to say this place has probably the best pizza in Ventura. The pizza is priced fairly, the ingredients are of great quality and has a great taste. The service was great and the food was prepared in less then 5 minutes. I picked up a small pizza with regular crust and cooked it for the full 12 minutes they recommend and it was both fluffy and crispy. The dough never got soggy and just held really well through our the meal. I would rate the pizza a 11 out of 10. The garlic cheese bread was so good. We added a drizzle of virgin olive oil on top before baking and it was just what it needed to make it a 10 out of 10. You don't see too many take n bake pizza spots anymore so to have this in Ventura is really cool. The next time you crave pizza please keep in mind this local buisness. You will be so happy also to give them a try if you haven't already. read more

This is a rough one as I want to love Valentino's Gourmet. The older lady with straight hair pulled back is consistently cold and unwelcoming which I would be more ok with if the food was at least consistently good. We have ordered the hot pastrami sandwich on multiple occasions. Last week I stopped by to get my daughter a sandwich. My daughter was excited to eat her sandwich when I got home. Unfortunately, her excitement didn't last. The sandwich had way too much mayo that made it soggy by the time we got home. There was also hardly any pastrami on the sandwich leaving both of the ends completely without any meat. For almost $20, I expect the sandwich to be of a much higher quality. In my opinion, Valentino's is high priced compared to other local sandwich shops that the service and quality of food do not warrant. Hopefully, my opinion of them will change but for now, my family and I will not be returning. read more

Stopped here last night with my husband - we needed some dinner and he was in a hot-sandwich mood. This is a small shop. I think we showed up about 40 min before closing time, so I was surprised to see someone putting the chairs up over the tables. That said, there were no other customers so maybe it was an extra quiet night, or maybe they were expecting to close early? I'm not sure. Their sign on the window says they're open until 8pm. Anyway, I got a cold turkey sandwich and my husband got a hot ... italian? I forget. I also ordered a chicken noodle soup (which may be seasonal). The chicken soup was a very small container, about 8oz. Nothing too special, but good on a cold night. My turkey and swiss sandwich also felt pretty average. Deli sliced turkey, of normal quality, and it seemed like a few strange pieces of not-swiss cheese were also included in my sandwich. And one bite also tasted like a small piece of onion snuck in with my lettuce. I loathe onions so this made me sad, but it's an error that happens not infrequently at sandwich shops. My husband liked his sandwich quite a bit, and I suspect we'll visit again. I hope to be in a mood to try their carrot cake, as the slices are enormous and look very appealing. Valentino's has always been an alternative place for pizza. It's nice to eat a pizza straight out of your own oven and their specials are delicious, although we typically stick with only a few. I recently learned they have sandwiches! I ordered a half roast beef sandwich. It was decent. I do agree with a lot of the other reviewers that they are a bit pricey. I'd expect to pay $11 for the whole sandwich, but for half (about the size of your fist) it's a bit much. Having said that, Valentino's is a "once every 2-3 months" treat. Worth trying if you haven't yet! read more

We had stopped going to Valentino's pizza and I'm regretting we ever did. Their take n bake pizzas are so good! Fantastic sauce flavor, great crust, and excellent topping choices. Haven't tried their pastas but their chicken salad was the perfect accompaniment to their pizza. Their employees always greet you well. Service is speedy and quick. I cook my pizza on a pizza stone and leave it in the oven for 12 minutes. The crust comes out perfectly crisp with just the right amount of n brown edges and melted cheese. Let it sit for 5-7 mins before slicing and it comes out great. Looking forward to my next visit just writing this review. read more

I rarely write reviews but this just had to be said: Thursday, I bought 3 large Italian submarine sandwiches. I waited in a chair, should have watched them make the sandwiches I guess. They loaded the sandwich up with some bologna-type salami, and very little of the other salamis. My impression is that they had to get rid of that unpopular meat, and loaded me up with their residual. The guy at the counter was unfriendly as well, and when he presented me with the receipt, he held the machine up for me to add a tip while he waited, very uncomfortable, which I unfortunately did give a tip. The chill surfer employees are nice and friendly. One time they didn't repeat my order on a busy night and forgot the jalapeños. But that was only one time. (Not this time ha) When cooking at home make sure to use a hot oven and at the top, for a short time. I was driving down the coast heading to LA and looking for a place to stop for lunch and Yelp led me to Valentino's. Another wonderful Yelp find! I ordered the bomb chicks sub and loved every bite of it! It wasn't as spicy as I had hoped, but it had lots of flavor and was very filling. Considering how hungry I was and had to wait a bit for it to be ready, I quickly devoured it! And though this was just a stop for me, I could easily see this as a destination for locals. While waiting, I saw several people coming in and out just to pick up orders. Definitely a place to check out if you're in the area! And the folks I talked to picking up their food raved about their pies! Additionally, the service here was great.
