This is my favorite ocean front restaurant in Ventura. It's located next to the parking structure. Theres a boardwalk out front too so you can take a stroll or sit on a bench and enjoy watching the waves. Call ahead and make a reservation. You want to ask for a booth or if you want to watch the sunset over the ocean- ask for one of the tables next to the glass window. Everything I've tried so far is delicious. One of my favorites are their SPICY AVOCADO EGG ROLLS. They're fried to perfection: crispy, with a creamy filling and hints of sun dried tomato. This dish comes on a bed of little white crunchy noodles that I ended up sprinkling on top with the dipping sauce. If you love bleu cheese and mushrooms, I recommend the BLACK AND BLEU TOP SIRLOIN medium.. it is to die for. I ordered it with the house salad and was not a fan of cranberries on top. I also ordered a side of SWEET POTATO FRIES. Some of the best I've ever had and the portion was plentiful. It took a lot of willpower to stop eating after I was full. My hubby got the PRIME RIB with garlic mashed potatoes and that was incredible as well!! I haven't had a Bloody Mary in a while and was craving something spicy other than my go t spicy Margie's, so I went for it. My goodness, it hit the spot! Next time I'm going for the Bloody Mary Luau- which is a meal and drink all in 1: the menu says it comes with a burger slider, piece of chicken, shrimp, bleu cheese, bacon, and green olives. Can't wait to go back!

We sat inside along the glass overlooking the pier for lunch. Service was outstanding and the Orange Roughy dish I tried was delicious .

Returned to Aloha for my birthday dinner last week and overall had a nice experience. The drinks are always great here - the Malibu Third Point is my favorite! I loved the herb crusted salmon as well as the sides of creamed spinach and garlic mashed potatoes. Perfectly cooked salmon for the 3 of us who ordered it. The entrees come with one side but I love that you can add additional sides for only $3 (including a side salad or soup). I took some of my dinner home and it was equally as good the next day. The prices were reasonable as well. Our server was just fine - he was friendly but did seem to forget about us on a couple of occasions. Ambiance is one of the main reasons people come here - hard to beat that ocean view! Be sure to bring your parking ticket if you park in the structure as they will validate for two hours!

Came here while vacationing and it was great. It's beachfront so you get all the views and the fresh breeze. The hostess greeted us immediately as we walked in the front door. We sat outside since we had our dogs with us. The staff were also very nice to our dogs and brought them a bowl of water. The steak was great and our food was ready quickly. Servers were attentive and checked on us frequently. They also have a doggie menu and our dogs loved their huge patties. They also validated our parking so don't forget.

Dog friendly patio and great place for you + pup

Dog friendly, nice place to people/dog watch and great service! We came here for the cowboy steaks. It came with a side (we chose loaded garlic mashed potatoes) and also had side salad. Wife also had the clam chowder and said it was one of the best she's had. They actually had clams, and tasted like clams instead of bacon. The steaks were a good size and depending on your appetite, can have left overs or enjoy the whole steak! The loaded garlic mashed potatoes were good. They had sour cream, cheese and chives. We were originally going to order a cheap steak for the pup, but the waitress informed us they had a chicken or beef menu for pups ( was reasonably priced around $7 for either or). I wish I took a pic of the dog portions ( wife thought it was too much to feed for one meal so we had left overs for our pup too). The steaks were cooked well near the bone (I like my steaks rare and near the bone is usually undercook, but they did a great job cooking it). I liked how they seasoned the steaks and didn't add any teriyaki sauce. Would definitely try this place out again and Krypto enjoyed himself too (you can see him smiling in one pic)

Had such a great dinner at Aloha Steakhouse in Ventura. The food was delicious (perfectly cooked steak and amazing sides), but what really made the night was our waitress, Joleen. She was warm, attentive without hovering, and just had the best energy. You can tell she genuinely cares about her tables. And the ocean view? Unreal. Watching the sunset while enjoying dinner made the whole experience feel special. We'll definitely be back and asking for Joleen again!

The service is the BEST. The staff are career food service folks and they try to please the customer. This kind of incredible service is tough to find these days. The ambiance is always festive but especially around the holidays. The food is fresh, well sauced, and made exactly how you want it. They ask plenty of questions before putting your order in so it's how you like it. I ordered the black and blue sirloin with blue cheese sauce. My man ordered the macadamia crust halibut with side of garlic mash. Everything was delicious! We come here yearly and it never disappoints.

The 2 stars was for the view of the ocean. Went to Ventura for the weekend and last night we decided the view and the restaurant looked like a good spot to dine. Servers name was Christi, we got there at 7:23 sat on the patio so we could see the sunset. Too bad the clouds were in the way. Our order was not taken right away. We got drinks and our appetizer around 7:50. We got the artichoke, so much lemon it was hard to eat, too bitter. We waited to order the food, that took another 25 minutes. We waited almost a full hour to get the food and we were told it was due to a large party indoors. It wasn't that bad tbh (I'm a chef they had plenty of servers for that) there were only two of us. Our plates finally came when we were about to get up and ask to pay for what we had had and leave. The plates were sloppy. The food just tossed on. Small portions and if you want sides it's 3 dollars more for every side. So you can have a lobster tail and a baked potato but don't think you'll be wowed over it. For two people the total w tip 189.00 not worth it at all. And vegetables or salad with it cost 3 dollars more, not really a good place for a large group. The server did give us a dessert for having to wait for so long, she brought out an ice cream cake slice to share. This came after waiting again just to get the check. It was almost 10 pm when we left. If you have plans after dinner like we did don't go here. Service was too slow if you don't sit inside they don't seem to care. The lobster was ok slightly tough. The Parmesan crusted orange roughy was good. When we got there it was daylight when we left the beach was already closed as was everything else. Including photos, like I said lackluster plates from a chefs point of view.

We came for a beer but stayed for the Happy Hour appetizers! Service was very fast even though they were busy. Food took a while to come out but when it did it was fresh and delicious. Potato skins were perfectly cooked crispy outside and soft inside. I like my fried zucchini like I like my Happy Hour martinis, battered not breaded. Order everything I mentioned in this review.

Is there a preferred/recommended dress code?

No , you can walk in with shorts and t-shirt during lunch, preferred or dinner time shorts and a nice shirt for men

I noticed outdoor seating. Is this area dog friendly?

Yes, it's dog friendly! We've brought our dog here many times.

    Is there a kids menu?

    Yes 🤙🏾

    When is happy hour?

    5 pm

    Is the patio dog friendly?

I would call them. All the times I've been there I've seen no dogs on the patio. But then again, it's a makeshift patio that's on the side of the building due to the pandemic. If you Google Earth it, the patio is on the side that's closest to the…

Hello will you be open on thanksgiving.?

    Call them & ask

Are there 2 patios during the shutdown (I know there's a makeshift one on the entrance side) and just how heated are they? Would you still have to dress like an Eskimo at night?

When we went last week, there was only one patio open on the entrance side. Our waitress brought our own heater to the table as soon as we sat down. So we were comfortable in a light jacket the whole time we were there.

I hear that the patio is open now during the covid-19 shutdown. Word also has it that there are no heaters on the patio. Is this correct?

I don't recall seeing heaters when I was there a few weeks ago, but I am not sure if this has changed.

Are they open for to go orders during the Covid-19 shutdown?

Yes. They recently (around 7/25/20) started to go service and outside dining service. They expanded the outside dining space so there's a lot of room. We didn't feel too close to other diners and all the staff wore masks. They do not have heaters…

I am traveling alone and prefer to eat at the bar rather than at a table - that being said is there a bar to eat at, and, how difficult to get a seat if there is? On a friday? TGIF :-)?

Depends on the time you arrive. Typically if you're there by 4-5 you should be good, however happy hour starts at 4 everyday!!

Are you open at 2:00 pm?

Aloha Steakhouse is open everyday from 11:30 am until 9:00 pm, Lunch is served until 3:00 pm, Happy hour is from 3:00 pm until 7:00 pm Sunday through Thursday and 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm Friday and Saturday. Dinner starts at 3:30 everyday.…

The tables near us were checked on a lot but not us. Food was just okay. Linguine pasta, calamari, and sliders were all bland. Sliders were super basic, just meat, sauce and bun. They charge $2 for a side of sauce in a tiny ramekin. The woman bartender was really nice and upbeat and helped us close out at the end of our meal. Honestly, just much better food and experiences next door.

We were ready to walk out, but our drinks finally arrived. I suggested we ask for the check sooner than later, considering how long it took to get our drinks. (Others who arrived after us did not seem to have to wait as long as we did.) Moments later, the vibe completely turned around when the bartender blew a conch shell to award a patron a Ventiki fez, accomplished after drinking all 60 cocktails on their in-house passport. That energy really helped recapture any aloha we felt upon arriving and we ended up staying for hours and chatting with staff. The place redeemed itself. We promised to return with some friends shortly who were driving through Ventura. We stepped out to grab coffee while waiting for our friends to arrive. We were excited to show them this place. When our friends got there around 4pm, they received an incredibly cold greeting at the entrance. They sent us a text and we told them we were a block away having just picked up a coffee and heading their way. When we all arrived together, a bouncer was at the front stand, boorish and inhospitable... his immediate attitude was downright insulting. (He wasn't around when we were there earlier.) He had previously refused to seat our friends at a table for four--even though we were just a block away--demanded we throw away our coffees, and asked us for ID. (My husband and I are in our late 50s/early 60s, and friends late 40s.) We literally had just been there for a couple hours and spent a good amount of money. Sure, I understand places have policies, but this attitude was COMPLETELY different than when we were there earlier. The bouncer was a self-important jerk about the whole thing. We went from giving them a second chance after they rekindled the aloha spirit to being completely turned off by the bouncer's egomaniacal attitude. Again, 4pm Sunday, no line or anything. Not some nightclub. Utterly unnecessary brute at the front. Rude and completely uninviting customer service. We ended up going down the street to a local brewpub that welcomed us, no attitude, no carding, and they didn't bat an eye at our coffee cups. AND when we parted ways with our friends, they told us they swung by Ventiki to talk to the manager. The manager told them she supports her bouncer and was unapologetic. If there was a society for tiki lounges with a membership card, this place should have their card revoked. They are not worthy. Tearing up the fez passport I started and will never set foot in there again.

No matter which Topa you walk into, you see familiar faces. There is a real sense of family there, and I would hate to lose that. The Thompson location specifically feels like home. When I lost someone very near and dear to me, Topa became a place where I could breathe again. On the worst days, walking through those doors made things feel just a little lighter. Sometimes it felt like I was holding my breath all day until I got there. There is a steady comfort in that space. Mama mia, that kind of place is rare. I have definitely "invested" ;) my fair share into the pool table and the pinball machine. Trivia nights with the awesome host, the food pop ups, Nicks Smash Burgers and Ramos Tacos are the best. Being introduced to new bands and almost always leaving a live show with a vinyl or CD by the end of their set. It truly is a community. Supporting local artists and seeing the same people show up for each other over and over again is part of what makes it special. And the beer is unreal. I was never much of a beer person, but a few years ago they pulled me in with Moo Bae then the Althlone Ranger, and then the 4 and 20. My current favorite is The Tux. Every time I go in, that is what I get. I loved when they had more dark beers too. Topa Topa opened the door for me into the craft beer world without ever feeling intimidating. Once you find a place where you feel appreciated and respected, where you feel known, you do not want to lose that. A huge part of that for me is seeing my regular beer tenders, Mike, Lea, Marie, and Zion. They are part of what makes walking through those doors feel like coming home. The Thompson location is that kind of place. Really messed up what you did. EDIT- This is nothing against the newer employees of Topa, but has everything to do with corporate. What were you thinking getting rid of 15% of your staff? The people that have helped build the foundation of your brand. The people that build the individual personalities of each taproom. The people that we have gotten to know and they've gotten to know us. Like I said before Topa is a family. I get that the craft beer scene is getting smaller but getting rid of family is so dumb. Your regulars have developed a relationship with these people. It's so disheartening to go now. When we go we aren't greeted by these friendly faces that know us. You'd think you'd focus more on your regulars you know the people that actually spend money here rather than the "next generation". Like I said, this has nothing to do with the new workers. They're nice. But the people we've developed relationships could NEVER be replaced. The lovers of topa topa do not like this.
