This is the place to get your next sub sandwich

What an amazing sandwich for $9.00 week this Italian sub sandwich was really good and the fresh baked roll was so soft the whole sandwich was really good might just have to go back for more $9.00 sandwiche week!

    Tyler!

One of the best sandwiches in Santa Barbara. The service is always phenomenal and they are so accommodating to any dietary needs. The store is in this cute little spot and has such homey vibes. I actually got a flat tire in the parking lot and the owners son, Tyler, took the time out of his day to come out and help me change it real quick. He then gave me a free cookie because I was in such distress. I will definitely be coming back for another sandwich

I have now visited this hole-in-the-wall, female-owned pizza/sandwich joint three times. Val's reminds me of what each neighborhood use to have in my hometown of Chicago: a family-owned, killer sandwich shop--though they also serve "take 'n bake" pizzas here! I had visited once before for a quick grab 'n go sandwich. Fellow Elite Vanessa D told me about this spot and recommended the hot meatball sub. She was spot on that it was the best around town! The marinara was flavorful without being acidic or spicy. The meatballs were tender with just the right amount of seasoning and spices. Add in the freshly sliced cheese, and we have a winner on our hands! My partner and I were planning to stop in at the newly opened Good Land Wine Shop for some wine tasting. I told him I needed to eat something before indulging. We came in to Val's for their $11 Sandwich Lunch Special (half sub, chips and soda). I had the pesto chicken, he had the turkey. Both were made fresh that instant and massive. The small sub is plenty to fill most people up. Best part, the owner herself was there and we chit chatted a bit. Fast-forward to post-wine tasting and I had ordered two medium "take 'n bake" pizzas to go via their website. BLT and Val's Special came shrink-wrapped with baking directions in 10 minutes. We drove home, preheated the over and before we knew it, we had fresh baked pizzas that were ready to be devoured. I must say, the kitchen staff are pros because that Val's pizza was beautifully decorated. Side note: I absolutely love how they decorate for the various Holidays. Most recently it was Halloween with candy, orange string lights and even the option to pre-order a pizza on orange pumpkin crust. For Valentine's they also do a pink heart pizza. Cute! For large gatherings, they also offer party subs. I'll definitely be a regular.

I love their pizza! They are speedy when making the take-n-bakes and with the Axxess card a large cheese is about $7. Dinner for 6 kids, check! Also super yummy- I love their crust. Buttery and melts in your mouth

I love the thin crusts of their pizzas because it doesn't leave you feeling too heavy even if you ate the whole pizza (aka, no food coma crash despite the carbs). Tried the Caserta Pizza (5/5) It's made with double flor di latte sauce base that gives it creaminess. Then topped with Italian sausage, garlic pecorino, basil, smoked provolone cheese, and Calabrian chili. The sausage was savory, and the cheese was melty and of good quality. You can taste the mild spice from the chili flakes and the herbal-ness from the basil. Add-on some of their housemade chili oil sauce for an additional spice kick. Service was professional and courteous. We had a great time and really enjoyed our dine-in experience here. We'll be coming back to try out other flavors for sure.

Hot girl pizza was spicyyyyyy, but the sausage?! LOVED ! The garlic bread? Unnecessarily SPICY (I'm a 100% Latina, who can HANDLE spice... but this was borderline unenjoyable spicy) Food was 10/10! The ambiance was chill and I loved how it looked. The ocean down the street and everyone just enjoying themselves. Customer Service ? Left MUCH, MUCH to be desired and honestly, probably will keep me from coming back again. When we were ordering, I had asked the person at register "Hi how are you going today?!" Just got responded with "good. What can I get you?" Blunt. Unwelcoming. And kinda rude. I just said ok and moved on. It was our first time there so I asked her for recommendations and she just said "everything is good" Between her responses, she kept talking and laughing with her coworkers. Not a big deal, but you can just tell when someone isn't interested in having any sort of conversation. Also due to the fact that she had her back completely towards us in the middle of our transactions multiple times. She inspected my printed receipt at the end and looked bugged when she realized we didn't tip due to her poor service. Couldn't help but notice a different type of customer service being offered to other customers. It seemed obvious. Probably won't be coming back because of service, might just do pick up because of the food! Definitely would much rather recommend St. Bibiana's pizza on Ortega! Amazing pizza, great vibe and much better service.
