My experience started when I paid Grant Firestone to replace the rear/crankshaft main oil seal on my 2017 Jeep Wrangler. I was charged more than $1,200 for the seal replacement and associated labor. The repair involves significant labor, including removal and reinstallation of the transmission. Later, I brought the Jeep back because I was having an overheating problem. Grant Firestone was unable to determine the cause. The owner then looked at the vehicle briefly and told me I had a cracked head gasket. I was quickly given a quote of more than $4,000 for the repair. At that point I became suspicious and decided not to authorize the work. I took the Jeep to another reputable mechanic for a second opinion. The head gasket was not cracked. The actual overheating problem was the radiator, which needed to be replaced. While performing that work, my new mechanic also discovered an oil leak. Further inspection determined that the leak was coming from the rear main seal - the same seal I had previously paid Grant Firestone more than $1,200 to replace. This is where my experience became especially concerning. After the transmission was removed and the area could be inspected, my mechanic determined that the rear main seal appeared to still be the factory-installed seal. He also found what he identified as the factory silicone/sealant still present. In other words, according to the independent mechanic's inspection, the seal I had paid Grant Firestone to replace did not appear to have been replaced. I have photographs documenting what was found when the transmission was removed, which I am including with this review. I contacted Grant Firestone about the continuing seal problem and was offered warranty work. But after another mechanic subsequently found what appeared to be the original factory seal and sealant still on the vehicle, I was not comfortable allowing Grant Firestone to work on my Jeep again. I requested a refund instead. I understand that automotive diagnoses can sometimes be wrong and that replacement parts can fail. If this had simply been a replacement seal that failed, I would view this situation very differently. My concern is that an independent mechanic found evidence indicating that the seal I paid to have replaced had never actually been replaced. Between the incorrect $4,000+ head-gasket diagnosis and what was discovered with the rear main seal, I lost confidence in this shop. I'm sharing the photos so people can see the condition that was documented and make their own judgment. Based on my experience, I will not return to Grant Firestone and would strongly encourage anyone facing an expensive diagnosis or repair here to get an independent second opinion before authorizing the work.

Took my daughter's car to Quality for engine light a couple of weeks ago. Previously, another auto…read moreshop had replaced the gas cap in hopes that that was the issue for the evap system engine code from the diagnostics. That shop said that most of the time, a poor sealing gas cap is the problem for that system code, but to find out for sure a smoke test of the evap system would be required. Well, we hoped that the problem was solved so we passed on the additional cost for the smoke test with that shop. Soon after, the engine light came on again. So that's how I ended up taking the car Quality for the engine light a couple of weeks ago, so they could run the smoke test. Daniel ran the test (the same diagnostic code for evap system) and to my surprise, they called me in the shop area and showed me the smoke spilling out of the gas cap connection, which obviously was not fixed by the previous shop the first time. So we're happy with a new gas cap, but then a short time later the engine light comes on again - how aggravating! So, I took it back to Quality this morning and Joe remembered the car and me from the recent, last visit. Diagnostics showed an issue with the evap system again, but this time using a higher pressure system test on the evap system, they isolated the additional problem canister and completed the repair. Thinking this through, once they found the poor gas cap seal previously with the smoke test, (which I came in asking for at the suggestion of the other auto shop) replaced the gas cap and the engine light went off after test drive, it would not have been prudent at that time to try a different costly diagnostic (in this case, the higher pressure test.) I learned that the smoke test is a low pressure test, which perhaps would not reveal the problem with the evap system canister issue - at least that's how understand it (might be wrong.) Fair pricing for part and labor. Excellent service and personal attention to me - kept me in the loop on the issues regarding ordering the part (GMC problem with part number, not Quality's.) Miguel test drove the vehicle to ensure that the engine light was now no longer activated and I was good to go! I've used Quality for years for all of my vehicles and after using many automotive shops in the Spring area since 1990, Quality is the one I trust most. Mike and his team are good, honest people - just what one needs in an auto shop.

From there they tried to sell me another service. I was not against the other service that they offered, but i wanted to hear more in detail about it. The bad experience stated here. I asked to speak to the tech about it, and they refused to let me speak to the tech and give me more detail on what i was paying for. and it left a bad taste and my mouth but i took it for a grain of salt and assumed i was over reacting. later in the day after receiving my car back my girl noticed that our seat would no longer adjust and the button for the seat was pushed in. I then called the shop to find solution. they then tried to charge me another 100 diagnostic to check the situation rather then just looking at the seat that was damaged after. I took it to the shop to talk to the owner and he yelled in my face as i remained professional and calm as i had my work gear on and could not make my employer look bad,and i have it all recorded. At parts i asked him why is he yelling when i remained calm. He then digressed and then went back to yelling. Probably the most frustrating experiencing i ever had. It was like talking to a controlling parent. I won't bash the shop because i'm sure they do good work. but working with a company that has integrity is important and this is just not that shop. i also noticed that another customer had a similar experience.
