We balked at this because so many are tourist traps operated by non-Mexican large companies, but then we found Vallarta Local and decided to give them a try as they are locally owned. I'm so glad we did. We did the Breakfast Tacos tour and it was one of the most memorable tours we've ever done. AnnaLo was a fantastic guide and educated us not only about the city itself, but the history of different tacos and local cuisine. We visited six taco stands owned by local families, all of which have perfected their own meats and styles. Every taco was better than the last. And the sauces! My gosh, the varied and delicious sauces that each stand offered were unlike anything I've ever had before. It's hard to find sauces like this in America because everything is either not fresh or watered down, and I will never forget the nuances of flavors that every sauce added to every unique taco. Afterwards, we visited a fresh fruit popsicle shop and the place where most local tortillas are made. We both got a freshly made tortilla and a bit of salt and rolled it up to enjoy like a snack while AnnaLo told us about the importance of tortillas and how eating tortillas as a snack reminds most Mexicans of their childhood, picking up tortillas on their way home from school. It was truly a journey and we both left full. By the end, AnnaLo felt less like a tour guide and more like a friend that we've known for a while. Getting to know her was a highlight of the trip in itself. We hope to return to Puerto Vallarta soon, and when we do, we will absolutely be booking another tour.

She just did a lot of those little extra things that set the tour apart from others. We were full by the time we were done, but I also got a lot of information regarding the city. I would highly recommend this tour and if possible request Joane as a guide.

Maynor Ramos and Sunset tours tricked me into going to a time share presentation that was almost…read morethree hours long. He promised it would be short, and misled me about the nature of the presentation. He had me put a 500 peso cash deposit down for a boat ride. (Total was supposed to be $190 USD). When I finally arrived at boat ride, I learned that Maynor had pocketed the money and never applied it to boat ride. I had to pay the captain the full $190. When I confronted Maynor the next day, he refused to return my money and claimed the 500 pesos was for a massage voucher that I had in fact declined to buy. I had a receipt which said "500 boat dep" that Maynor had written out but he still insisted that the 500 pesos was not a deposit fir the boat. I have attached a photo of receipt and screenshot of text exchange. He wasted most of my day on a stupid timeshare pitch and then ripped me off for $25. Pretty sleazy .

We had never been to the west coast of Mexico and found a group with lots of recommendations for…read moretour guides. We spoke to a couple of them. Sylvie was very easy going listener to what we wanted and made our experience custom and better than anyone else could. Plus she responded quickly! And we were booking less than 24 hours out, so that was super helpful! We did a walking tour the first day and she picked us up to drive us around the second day to spots we missed and to go outside the city. This woman has a fantastic memory and knows EVERYBODY! She is originally Canadian but speaks excellent Spanish and isn't shy. When my friend wanted a special alcohol that's hard to find, Sylvie called a friend who owned a restaurant, they opened up just for us and Sylvie took us there even though our time indicated she should be dropping us at our hotel. When she took us to Gringo Gulch, to see The actor Richard Burtons home/Hacienda San Angel (which we heard was 800-1000 a night to stay in) she made a call and got us in there for a private tour (it was just me and a friend). Sylvie was extremely personal and really becomes your friend. The first day at the walking tour it was soooo unseasonably hot that a girl in our group got heat sick and everyone was done about halfway through because we were miserable. So Sylvie rose in a cab with the girl to make sure she got back to her condo ok. We would highly recommend her. Because of the small groups and custom tours, she'll take you where you really want to go and make sure you get the best deals.

We signed up online before traveling and found the office after we arrived - so you can book in…read moreperson too. Very good organization from the beginning. With the boat tours they tell you exactly when to show up. The computers have all your details and if there's a problem or if you have questions, they help you and are very professional about it. Your ticket is clear- which boat number and trip you're on. They make announcements ahead of time and it's in an orderly fashion. Once on the boat, it's party time. They have different styles of boats depending on your trip but they all are clean and operated by professionals. I'm saying this a lot because when safety matters, you want to know that people are trained for their jobs. We had a highly skilled captain, very entertaining and informative tour guide and many helpful deckhands. We snorkeled (clean equipment), bird watched, saw many whales, sea turtles and went to a secluded beach. All food and drinks provided were tasty and abundant. We arrived back at port safely and highly enjoyed our excursion. If we had more time, we would have done more.

Our swim was VERY interactive and hands-on and they spent a lot of time explaining dolphin behavior. My dolphin's name was Paco, a 7-year-old male. My girlfriend's dolphin's name was Shany, she was a 30 year old female. The trainers we had were absolutely AMAZING!!! For an additional $30 we were also able to book a swim with the sea lions. The entire staff was extremely helpful and thoughtful. We had such a great experience with the dolphin swim that before we left we booked our next adventure to Rhythms of the Night. This was yet another fantastic experience. The boat ride there and back were both a complete blast. Dinner on the island was more than we expected. The show itself blew us away. We will definitely be booking with them when we return to Puerto Vallarta!

We booked our first lesson for yesterday with our two visits=ing friends and we had a FANTASTIC…read moretime! We learned the history of PV, Gabby's restaurant, and all of us received a digital copy of chefs 95 page cookbook. We started with a trip to the markets to purchase our lunch supplies, then we headed back to the restaurant to cook the dishes (as a group). We ended up producing a full "Taco Cart" worth of condiments, Ceviche, Chicken Mole (the sauce has 40 ingredients alone!), Guacamole (two ways), Mexican Rice, and Margaritas. The class starts at 9AM and ended at 2:30PM, it's a full day and a FULL lunch. Plan to eat a light or late dinner that night. Would 100% recommend this class :)
