A great tour. Solid 3 hours walking at a leisurely pace. Our guide was Roman. He has a background in food, from working many different positions In restaurants to helping cook in his mothers family restaurant. He was charismatic, knowledgeable of the area, and had great history of every single place we visited. He described perfectly the presentations, tastes, and how get the most enjoyment out of every bite. Come hungry, because there was 5 taco stops, several with 2 tacos to try. Every stop had a different local beverage to try, so many salsas and hot sauces, there was an amazing churro cart in the middle of the tour, and ended with a great choice of dairy and non dairy ice creams at the end. This tour was fun! Everyone in our group of 9 seemed to have a good time. A great bargain for $55. read more

My mom and I did Vallarta Eats' "Untouristed" walking taco tour recently with Abel as our guide. We were the only people to sign up for that day, so we got a private tour at no extra cost. Abel was an excellent guide and a lot of fun. We saw some fabulous little taquerias, each with their own specialty. I had the best barbacoa and aldilla tacos I've ever eaten. I am not typically a person that likes to go on organized tours, but this was a very fun and legitimately interesting experience. Can't recommend the Signature Taco Tour enough, it's a perfect introduction to the delicious street food, and out of the way restaurants in Puerto Vallarta. Our guide Daniela was amazing- she gave so much information about getting around and eating in Puerto Vallarta, as well as the history of many iconic Mexican dishes. Daniela was engaging and energetic, and we all left happy and full of delicious tacos. I came on the tour by myself and ended up having a great time with everyone else participating- Daniela always made sure that I felt a part of the group! Don't hesitate to go alone if you are travelling solo. I was able to navigate the neighbourhoods very well on my own after the tour, and returned to some of my favourite taco spots by myself. We took the 'best tacos after dark' tour. Manny was wonderful- friendly and very knowledgeable! We chose the night tour so it would be cooler and we could have tacos for dinner- we were not sorry. It was a beautiful night to walk around and we were stuffed- definitely come hungry. The tacos el pastor were my favorite, but the churros and ice cream did not disappoint. Due to Covid & the hurricane 2 weeks prior, we had the tour to ourselves. Manny was our tour guide and he was fantastic. Very knowledgeable and so friendly. I don't think we could have had a more enjoyable, or tasty, evening in Puerta Vallarta! We took the Mole Pozole tour. The food at our first stop was really delicious. My wife, who is a real foodie, loved it. I'm not a "foodie", but I know what I like and this was just wonderful mole, perhaps the best I've ever had. Our other stop was a wonderful combination of many dishes. I'm not great at describing food, so I won't other than to say it was all very good, and quite substantial. Plus the evening was just plain fun! Our guide was a young woman named Paz. I think she enjoyed the evening as much as we did! We kept throwing questions at her about the food, about PV, and other things (no sports :-), and she just knew so much. We did this as a family thing and it was a memorable evening for us all. My wife and I went on the Craft Brew & Bites Tour in late November with Abel and Manuel. I have to commend them and say they were fantastic guides. We were the only ones on the tour that evening and I truly admire Abel and Manuel for keeping the conversation going with only two tourists. It's one thing if you have a group and you can kind of leave them to their own devices but it's especially impressive to me that they were able to handle what could have been an awkward 3 hours with strangers and made it fun, informative, and interesting. The conversation never felt stinted or forced. Onto the more important part of the review for most of you: the beer and food. The beer was great - a variety from the region we otherwise wouldn't have gotten to try. We went to Monzón Brewery and enjoyed it so much we went back the next day to try more beers. The food on the tour was excellent - we had a pizza at Florios that was so delicious and really hit the spot (being from Chicago I was missing pizza). Unfortunately since we were the only ones on the tour we weren't able to try all the foods typically offered and could barely finish the last shared appetizer at Cervecería Unión. Still I really enjoyed this tour and the high level of service and knowledge from the tour guides. I would definitely suggest this tour to anybody interested in craft beer. Also a nice bonus: they take pictures throughout the tour and send them to you free of charge which is a great perk! read more

What a great experience! It was me and my husband's first time in PV and this was recommended by a colleague of mine and it was well worth it! We decided to do the Tacos after Dark Tour. We were paired with another couple and surprisingly enough, they were from the same state. HA! We had Abel as our tour guide, he was super informative and friendly. He taught us the history of Old Town PV and how it came to be and how it's expanded. All these vendors and restaurants are locally owned and freshly made. If you're looking for authentic tacos versus chained restaurants (Don Pablos, Taco Bell, Chipotle, etc.) and an adventurous foodie, this is perfect for you! These are the places we stopped by: -Taco Yanez: My first time trying tongue tacos - the most delicious tacos ever! Super tender and flavorful! -Churro Man: Super friendly and the churros were the best! He's at a corner of a church with his vendor stand. I don't remember the last time I had churros and it was satisfying. My husband asked to stop the second time for more when we past him. HA! Later in the week, we paid him another visit to buy more churros and the line was long! -Cisneros: This was our first stop and it was a seafood taco. Unfortunately, my husband doesn't eat seafood so they substitute it with a quesadilla. Everyone was so hungry at the first stop that it was devoured in 2 minutes. -Las Gueras: This was the winner of the night, taco al pastor and al pastor quesadilla - lips smacking good! The bright pink interior with attributes of gold along with pinatas hanging above was a truly authentic and eye catching. We went a second time after the tour because, well, it is that good! -El Moreno: This was the last taco stand stop, at this time, I'm about to explode. The tacos were good, but it's sad that it's not well remembered. La Michoacana: Refreshing!!! Flavored water and ice cream! Where do we have this in the states? The owners were super sweet. My husband and I bought some to-go so we have some at our resort to enjoy and we even came back later to buy more! We even stopped at a local tortilla shop and ate fresh tortillas. I never knew eating it alone with salt was so satisfying by itself. After speaking with the locals (the best we could) these local restaurants rely on tourist to buy in order for them to thrive in their business. We are grateful for the experience with PV Eats and Abel, our foodie guide. We will definitely be back! read more

My husband and I did the Signature Taco tour and had a fantastic time!!! We decided it was our favorite thing we did on our trip. Our guide, Paz, was absolutely lovely. She was so friendly and very knowledgeable about the food and history of the different tacos. We tried so many different types. We also got to try different auga frescas which were refreshing on a hot day. It's a great way to gain knowledge of the different food stalls and what they offer. As well as walking around the different neighborhoods of Puerto Vallarta. Also, to gives you exposure to the foods of Mexico and afterwards be able to navigate the food carts on your own. Everything we tried was delicious!!!! Come hungry there is lots of food. We even had correspondence with Eric, the owner, who was so helpful and accommodating. I would suggest doing the tour at the beginning of your trip so you can return to your favorite taco stalls. We will definitely do another tour with Vallarta Eats on our next trip to PVR! The food was tasty and authentic. We went to an area in PV that we have never seen before and Raquel knew a lot about PV in general. What a great experience! We went on two tours - the "Signature Taco" tour and the "Mole, Pozole and more" tours. Both were outstanding - much of that due to the great personality of Memo, our tour guide for both! He knows his stuff and takes you to the best, cleanest and tastiest places for local tacos and more. He takes GREAT care of his tour people and ran to get umbrellas when we had a sudden downpour. He watches for everyone and takes pride in making sure he's aware of your needs before you are. Appreciate when you do this that you have to like to eat like the locals! This is NOT for someone looking for the typical tourist destinations.... I have been fortunate enough to live in Europe and Asia and traveled extensively in both. That experience has me a "Connoisseur of Street Foods" - the places where local people eat local food.... and this was the perfect experience for me, and for my wife! If you want to experience Mexican food like the locals, go with Vallarta Eats. The "Mole, Pozole and more" takes advantage of a few small family restaurants as well and was a similarly great experience. The seafood at many of these small family restaurants is just stunningly fresh and good. To top this all off, Eric - the owner, was just as helpful as he could possibly be. When we arrived I emailed him to confirm our presence. He offered to give us recommendations on where to eat that evening - although we passed on them since we got in late afternoon and just wanted to "crash" in the hotel to get our bearings for the next day. When we met him in person - just as helpful! Do yourself a favor - go on at least one of these tours. Do yourself a bigger favor and go on more! My husband and I have been coming to Vallarta for many years, but are not very adventurous when it comes to eating. I loved this tour! I booked the signature taco tour for an excursion to do when we came to port on our cruise ship. I booked for one day not knowing that our cruise ship work need maintenance for one day so this would alter the day and time I would be able to take my tour. I contacted Vallarta Eats and they rearranged the time for the tour and the date. Manny was a great tour guide. He made sure I that I filled up on the tour. The cuisine was authentic Mexican food from different regions expertly prepared and elegantly presented. We took the Tasting Vallarta food tour and loved it. It cost $88 per person and was completely worth it. We went to four locations and had various food and a cocktail at each stop. There was about twice the amount of food as I would have preferred so as to enjoy all the tasting, so I split my plates with my husband and the amount was about right then. Vallarta Eats was completely responsive and a pleasure to do business with. Our guide, Paz, was a delight, thoughtful, observant, knowledgeable and friendly. There was a small amount of walking, on the uneven sidewalks, and after dark at the end. We got a good representation of the best foods of Puerto Vallarta and had some very special dishes. Signature Taco Tour with Manuel is a walking tour, so wear comfortable shoes. Manuel (Manny) was our tour guide and monitored each member of the tour to make sure that he wasn't going too fast or to advise that a hill was coming. We all received a Vallarta Eats bag to carry our souvenirs and personables (cell phones). I'm a pescatarian, so you would not think that a "taco" tour would be good for me, but think again. I ate just as much as the beef and pork eaters. Manny made sure that we stopped to have several fish/shrimp tacos before the tour was complete. I was totally full. The tour included more than tacos. We also went to a bakery with a brick oven, visited a location that made soft taco shells from scratch. We had 2 members of the tour that made their own soft taco shells at a different location, then ate them. We visited a candy store, a frozen paletas (popsicle) shop, a souvenir shop with nuts, chocolate,etc. and a ceramic shop that produced hand made designs. We trusted Manny, so, if he said it was safe to drink, we followed his lead and no one got sick. I highly recommend this tour. You will visit local eateries and flavored drinks vendors, plus get a few steps on your fitbit. So much fun! read more

The Untourist Taco Tour was super fun. It was in a neighborhood we would have not explored on our own. The guide was very knowledgeable and she added a lot of good points about the neighborhood and the history of what we were experiencing. One of the stops on the tour the family had been making tacos and the special meat for 50 years. We didn't just see tacos spots we also did some other highlights of the neighborhood like the market place, and the cemetery. I just got back from Puerto Vallarta. The highlight of our vacation was the Vallarta Eats Food Tour. We went on the tacos and more daytime tour. The tour guide was friendly and upbeat. The food was way more than we thought. Everything was delicious. It took us to street vendors. I felt like a local. We were so full and we were glad we came hungry as was the recommendation of the tour. We liked this tour so much we booked the tacos after dark tour and I am so glad we did.
