One of my favorite hidden gems of Lathrop! I come here to study and do homework whenever I'm feeling stressed--it's like my little escape. The food? Oh my goodness. Whether it's the tacos or my favorite Mexican plate, everything I've tried so far has been absolutely delicious. The ladies at the front register are always so sweet and welcoming--never any attitude, never any unwelcoming vibes. I make sure to tip them every time because they truly deserve it. Good food. First time here and I had the 2 taco combo meal. They have a salsa bar and serve chips as well. You walk up and order and seat yourself and they bring out the food. The 3 salsas I tried were really good and they also had others. Bummed they didn't have pickled carrots in the salsa bar. The tacos were carnitas and chile verde. Both were really good flavor and I liked the Parmesan dusting on top of the tacos as well. The rice was good and the beans were just average, interior of restaurant was clean to include the restroom. The menu displayed on the TV was a bit hard to read. Kept flashing off to a blank screen and a bit discolored making the words hard to see. So let me start off saying WOW. Let me give a little back story first , I'm a pescatarian from New York, moved to Florida & was visiting California. I have had such a hard time finding QUALITY food since I've moved and was looking forward to trying good food in California. I did not find good food here, I FOUND GREAT FOOD. I wish this place was down the block from me in Florida. The shrimp fajitas were perfect. Came with lettuce and all that good stuff in a separate box. As well came with tortilla chips. Refried beans were amazing, rice was on point and baby you know that fire flame shrimp and peppers proved their purpose also. Shrimp was clean everything was so delicious. The food quality and portions are decent. The restaurant is clean and comfortable. My big gripe is that the restaurant sneaks a surcharge on to your bill. I know that a lot of restaurants have started doing this to secretly increase the charges, which I find dishonest. Other than that, this place is fine for a quick, casual meal. read more

Ordered nachos with al pastor and a shrimp ceviche toastada through a delivery service. Off top, one thing I appreciated is that the meal was delivered in a sealed "tamper proof" bag. I've had some questionable DD experiences, so this was a plus for me. As for the nachos, I wasn't disappointed... but I also wasn't overjoyed. Not really much present on the cheese front, and the al pastor had more of a chili flavor to it, which threw me off. It was almost like a nacho version of chili fries. Beware! The older Mexican lady at the cash register, you have to keep your eye on her. This is the second time that she had tried to scam me. She tries overcharging me by $10-$15. The first time she gave me a total and it was $10 over than what it was. The second time this just happened again. She tried to charge me $15 over my amount. And when I caught her and confronted her she just blew me off. I'm never going back there again. She seems too comfortable In doing this to customers that are not paying attention. I rated this place previously as amazing but that was 8 months ago. The ladies I knew were sisters and not sure if they switched owners but online, it stated this Restaurant had a different name: Taqueria Vallarta 2. Anyway, I went in there this last Tuesday afternoon. I am not Hispanic but my family is and I know Spanish. Anyway, the older lady (whom I have never seen before) at the register was kind to Hispanic people but when I spoke Spanish to her, apparently that was my mistake. She responded in English, and gave me a dirty look. So I proceeded to respond in English. Then she continued to give me dirty looks. Then other customers came in, who were Hispanic and she was super nice to them. I got my salsas and asked for a bag and she gave it to me but acted like I was being annoying and like I asked for a big thing out of her way as she continued to give me a dirty look. She then went to the cooks and started talking crap about me about me knowing Spanish and I'm not even Hispanic. They come out to take a look at me and laughed. She forgot I understood Spanish. Then she gave me my food when it was ready and continued to give me a dirty look from when I got my stuff together all the way until I exited. Plus the food they gave was so little and charged me a lot of money. Based on this experience I told my husband who is Hispanic and we agreed, we are never coming back to this place because I have never had such an awful experience here. This place used to be my favorite but after that lady on Tuesday, not anymore. I am very disappointed but what can you do. Now, I am looking for a new place to get food. read more

We always go here but seriously this is a joke. Carne asada fries had a little bit of French fries and the rest was mostly salsa and refried beans. I never had any complaints before but today this lady name Arceli who's the cashier was unprofessional. she already had an attitude when I ordered and she's the one who made a mistake with my order. Then the outcome was my food and the sides where a mess. The bag was filled with green salsa because of how she packed the condiments in. Check the other picture it shows. MY FAVORITE taqueria since moving to the valley!! And this is from somebody who lived by the best taquerias on the east side of San Jose. One thing I love about this place is that they have seafood options which is a BIG DEAL for me since I'm a pescatarian. And secondly, the workers here are so professional. One time we offered through door dash, and the cook called us to let us know that they had run out of pastor (bummer for the hubby) but still, friendly of them even to call. Shrimp diabla THE BOMB! It's spicy, and it'll make you sweat like you just worked out. I love dipping corn tortillas with the sauce, and their refried beans go so well with this dish. They do not skimp out on shrimp, huge pieces. Shrimp quesadilla- before becoming dairy-free, I've had their quesadilla a few times, and let me tell you DID NOT DISAPPOINT. They give you big shrimp pieces. Fish and shrimp tacos- I don't order this often, but it's not bad. We'll be back, and I highly recommend this place if you are close by. read more

Huge disappointment! Ordered tacos, burritos and chicken fajitas through door dash. Asked to have salsa separate on the tacos. It was on the tacos and they were soggy and falling apart. Fajitas were missing peppers and onions, thin dried day old chicken. Bean and cheese burrito was okay. Spent $45 on food that had to be thrown away. HORRIBLE food quality! read more
