This is my favorite Mexican Food restaurant I Fillmore. The food is great. My favorites are the Chile rellenos and the burrito mojado. Also, the chicken soup is delicious too. I love the margaritas and bloody Mary's. You can't go wrong with anywhere you order here. The family owned restaurant treats you like family, too. Passed by this place while in Fillmore and decided to stop and eat here... doesn't look to appealing from the outside, (its clean and well kept) but just looks kind of abandoned. I'm glad we stopped.. the food was delicious! I had 2 fish tacos and a shrimp taco (which are really small but fulfilling) and my hubby had the carnitas plate. It looked so good I has to taste and boy I'm glad I did! The staff was very nice and the inside was nice, clean and nicely decorated. If I'm in the area we will definitely come back to eat here again! The only thing I didn't like about this place is that they aren't close to where I live! read more

One of my favorite Mexican Restaurant in Ventura County. Carne Asada Wet Burrito was exploding with flavor. Monterey Jack Cheese and Cheddar Cheese and Carne Asada has Salt, Pepper and seasoning which gives it a good flavor. Horchata was delicious. Watermelon Margarita was awesome it tasted like a Watermelon Jolly Rancher and it gives you a buzz. Waitress Vanessa was awesome fast and friendly. She refiled our drinks and was very polite. The place does not have the best ambiance, but I keep coming back for the food. I've never been hooked to Mexican food, until I paid a visit to Vallarta. I always order their Fish Tacos and Refried Beans. My son always has their Cheese Quesadilla. I cannot have enough of their salsa. The food is is very basic and simple and I think that's what makes it good. I've tried their Strawberry and Cucumber Margaritas. I think they're lacking in the kick, but they are still very refreshing and a fun happy hour drink. My drink of choice would be their Michelada. Aside from the awesome food, everyone who has ever served us have been wonderful. They are all very friendly and make the place inviting. read more

I stumbled on this Yelp find while on a Sunday morning drive out to Fillmore. So glad I did. It's a small family restaurant with great good and fantastic service. I had the Chilaquiles (green, medium) which were delicious. The atmosphere is comfortable and welcoming. It's easy to miss with not having much frontage on Highway 126, but it's worth finding. I look forward to going back and trying the burritos, tacos and some of those unique Margaritas. read more

!Ay caramba! There's TASTY Mexican food in Fillmore?!? I always thought Fillmore was just something we'd pass on the way to Magic Mountain or the 5 Fwy Grapevine. Never even considered exploring the eateries 'round here until fams (John L. & DomisMom L... HAW-LLA!!!) recently settled down in the area. There's actually quite a few options in Fillmore for Mexican food, but Vallarta is their favorite spot for Mexican comida. So, of course, we had to plan a dinner date so I could explore the menu. We came for dinner one Friday night and the place was JUMPIN'!!! Luckily, we made reservations which allowed our big party to sit down pronto on arrival. Apparently, Hugo is THEIR FAVORITE server and he was certainly doin' his thang to make our stay memorable. That guy deserves all the props he gets! So, after perusing the extensive menu, we sampled a few things... * CAMARONES AL MOJO DE AJO: My lil man has got a thang for garlic & shrimps and this got his mouth waterin'! 7 plump shrimps basking in a garlic butter sauce didn't have a chance. Had to slow the young buck down, cuz he was chowin' down @ warp speed! * KID'S CHICKEN NUGGETS: Yeah, I know. WH-WHAT?!? It's MEXICAN CHOW, why this?!? Hey, WHATEVER it takes to get my light eater to eat somethin' & finish his plate. Kids menu is all American fare here. 5 pieces of Mickey Mouse chicken nuggets and a hearty crinkle fries serving, done. *TACOS DORADOS: I ordered Carne Asada and Pollo for stuffing the two HOMEMADE hard shells. They're a bit bigger than Taco Bell tacos but the meat quality is a world of a difference. Pleasantly surprised that they were NOT greasy at all. Refried beans had a creamy like consistency, and tasted delicious, as did the rice. *CHICKEN TAMALE: My munchkin LOVES tamales and this did not disappoint. Really good sized serving for an adult with an ample amount of pollo inside. Not spicy at all. This had to be good, cuz munchkin was goin' at it! Almost finished it, too! *CHICKEN ENCHILADA & FISH TACO: Wifey liked how they prepared her enchilada here. Nice & cheesy with perfect amount of sauce. Pollo was soft and flavorful. The fish taco was a good size with a more than adequate serving of fish. Tasty stuff! Vallarta gives off this rustic old school vibe on the outside that may cause a bit of apprehension, but what's happening within its walls will make you smile. Friendly & attentive service combined with delicious entrees make this an easy recommndation. Love the fact that they serve HOMEMADE salsas, chips and horchata here Also, Fams says their margaritas are "!Muy bueno!" Why ya droppin' this on us AFTER we're done eating?!?! Vallarta is hands down my favorite place, largely due to Hugo and his charm. If I could give this place 10 stars, I would!! I've come here with family, with friends and with my fiancé and I've never had a bad meal, bad experience or bad service. Hugo makes the entire experience worth the drive from Valencia. His knowledge, charm and true passion for what he does always makes us feel like welcomed family. The food is the best Mexican I've had. Period. Definitely not your " chain restaurant " everyday crap. Everything tastes like grandma is back in the kitchen making it herself . Last , but certainly not least.... The drinks!!! Omg!!! Hugo, our waiter was the best!! He gave us a sampling of every salsa available. All are made here and ingredients range from grape seed oil to peanut butter- who woulda thought??! We enjoyed the "house" salsa the best! Our entree choices were the chile relleno plate and the taco plate. Naturally, both plates came with rice and the best refried beans I've had in a long time! Great experience! Coming thru Fillmore after a 7 hour drive from Truckee we usually stop down the street for a much needed margarita and a meal. After reading the reviews on Vallarta we decided to try something new. We didn't get the much coveted Hugo for a waiter but we did get Rick his nephew! Rick was awesome. Super sweet and attentive and made one heck of a great cucumber margarita...probably one of my favorite all time margaritas! I got the fajitas..shrimp and chicken and they were great...can easily feed two! Hubby had the enchilada and taco combo and nothing was left on the plate. Ask for different salsas...they are all pretty amazing. We will definitely return on out next trip thru Fillmore. Great authentic Mexican food with real service! Shout out to RICK! read more

This is unquestionably the best Mexican food I've had in a decade. Ask for their "Mulatto" sauce. It's dark, toasted peppers in olive oil and it makes EVERYTHING magical. I ordered a grilled chicken burrito and it came with the most flavorful guacamole, and the whole meal was amazing. Our waitress knew her menu inside and out, and the atmosphere was authentic, relaxed and perfect for a Saturday afternoon. I am not kidding, the best flavors I've had in ages. We were headed to a different restaurant that had an hour wait. Checked Yelp and found this gem. The food was delicious. I had the mango margarita with chimoy, my mom had the Cadillac margarita. They were both amazing. The food was great. I don't eat the Spanish rice from very many restaurants but this was the best I've had next to my homemade rice. The place is good for taco Tuesday but it takes for ever!!!! To get your food. I went also on a regular day and also took for ever and there was only 4 other people in the place. I had posole and tacos de buche, tacos are good but posole needs work. Parents had fajitas and 7 mares. That also needs work. I really like this Mexican restaurant. Their service is very good and they have tasty margaritas (very light though so you may want to add an extra shot). I'd recommend their enchiladas or their chili Colorado. My boyfriend wasn't a fan of their burritos. Our excellent server recommended some carnitas dishes but I have yet to try. Highly recommend! My sister's boyfriend, who is a chef and is from San Diego so he knows his Mexican food on top of that really loved the food here! They also serve breakfast all day. read more

Okay so I had to remove my 4 star and put a 2, for the reasons followed. Service: The service has diminished severely! (Way to long for drinks/food, and your waitress-waiter takes a while, to come check on you.) I'm not sure what happen over time; but this place is not the way it once was!. SAD.. At one point, I absolutely LOVED this place. Food: The food has not been as good, (diablo shrimp) (garlic shrimp) just to name a couple, these have been close to "terrible the last few-times" I have been here.. Rice seems to almost always be undercooked as well. Drinks: unless your ordering a regular beer or a regular margarita "SAVE YOUR $$" we had to send our special margaritas/drinks back!!. This place use to be very good. I hope it gets back on track.. I'm not sure if they changed cooks? Or what?!! But something has defiantly changed within. read more

Our first time dining out since the pandemic started. They have nice outdoor seating. (Rather noisy though with the main street so close.) It was very clean and the staff was wearing their PPE. The service was excellent and the food was delicious. We loved it! Highly recommend! read more
