I had a super experience this afternoon when I dropped in the Vallarta supermarket on Rosedale Highway. probably one of the largest supermarkets in town definitely the cleanest. I walked through the store and all departments, produce to the meat department, fresh fish, bakery, ice, cream, grocery liquor, great selections. The kitchen, where you could get fresh tamales tacos enchiladas anything you're craving it's there and made fresh daily. You can take your lunch or dinner home or you can eat it there in a clean dining area. If you haven't been at the store, it's fun. It's an experience all the staff super friendly and helpful. The prices are competitive, and their sale prices, on selected weekly items are worth the trip in. I came in for their delicious shrimp cocktail. It's a treat in itself. I shared it with my wife when I got home. Plump shrimp, cucumbers, onions cilantro, avocado it's ready to go. It comes in a 16 ounce plastic cup with a spoon it's a meal by itself. I just love this beautiful super market! As soon as you walk in the door you are surrounded a proliferation of lovely flowers. Upbeat Mexican music plays in the background. They have a Cocina with a delicious array of freshly prepared Mexican dishes. They have a guacamole station, tamales station another for freshly made juices & drinks. The store is bright, colorful and clean. They have a huge stock of everything you need. The staff is helpful and friendly. The prices are average. Still loving Vallarta! We love their ready to go food. Especially the fun seasonal tamales. The boyfriend is on the fence with the pumpkin spice tamales, but I love them. Add a bit of dulce de leche and you've got a delicious fall dessert. This is also one of the few places I've been able to find pineapple Peñafiel PiñAda. As much as I love pineapple Fanta, this blows them out of the water. We still support our local carniceria when possible, but in a rush Vallarta has got you covered! read more

Recently visited again to grab some groceries and I was amazed how nice it was inside. The store is much nicer than the ones in Delano and I happen to like the Delano locations. This location is new which may be the reason why it looks alot nicer, but I was impressed how organized it was. This location has alot of staff in all the departments and that can probably add some points. Staff was very friendly. I read different reviews and there's a mixture of reviews that say staff was great and some not so great. I'm thinking I happened to come on a really good day where I got the really good side of it. I don't always think of buying food here for dinner, But once in a great while I think of the carnitas and the whole chicken. The homemade machine made tortillas are bomb. I'm the biggest fan of their green salsa, I can probably drink it. They have pretty good breakfast, lunch and dinner meals for one person or for a family. read more

Nice to have a Vallarta Supermarket closer to home! It is very convenient to stop by this grocery on the way back to the house. They are different than the other chain grocery stores in town. My favorite features of Vallarta are all located at the left side of the store when you first walk into the store. My first stop is their bakery section. They bake such delicious and affordable delicacies!! Currently, I'm a fan of their Guava goodies such as the Bundt Cake. Unfortunately, it will only be available for a limited time. I tend to also drop by their Fresh Guacamole Bar, Aqua Fresca station, and their La Covina section where they make all kinds of yummy entrees! There are other things I like about Vallarta. Service has always been top notch and friendly. Store is always clean. Only negative I find is that the prices for other grocery merchandise we regularly purchase our more expensive at Vallarta. I don't normally shop here as they are pretty expensive, but they have some niche items that I wanted to get and it was closer than Superior. As soon as I walked in I noticed the security guard heading towards me. He continued to follow me for a while. I had just walked in! He used his radio a few times, but I couldn't hear what he said. It was clear he followed me and I just happened to be the only non Hispanic looking person around. His blatantly racist profiling for no reason made me uncomfortable and I left. What a great experience interacting with the employees of this store. They are very helpful. We were selecting MASA and mistakenly got tortilla masa instead of tamale masa. An employee overheard us and explained the difference between the two. And directed us to the correct items. Everyone asked if we needed help throughout the store. We absolutely love going to eat at Vallarta. The employees are super nice, & the food is delicious. The only bad thing is the music. For every awesome traditional Mexican song that plays, the next 4 or 5 song are that horrible mumble rap music. I know they do it for the young crowd, but it is awful. read more

This Vallarta on Rosedale Hwy is so huge, and I need to mention soooo clean. All the different sections and departments.... it's amazing! All the bread and cakes look great! All the food they're cooking and baking look great! When you first enter, the flowers look beautiful! Their pinata and candy section is a must to shop at! This Vallarta has everything you can think of! The only complaint and it's the most important is their customer service. My daughter and I were in a section of the breads, and three workers walked around us talking business, scooting around us without even a smile or hello or an excuse me, and one of the women looked like management. I had to say excuse me to move out of their way. It was the same around the store, no employee smiling. And since there seem to be more workers than actual shoppers, I would've thought more to be friendlier. read more

Stopped in for a few things and decided to get the chicharron and avocado taco! It was so yummy and fresh. And of course, can't have a taco without a Mexican Coca-Cola. Very modern and clean. Huge selection of breads, they gave a guac station, a juice bar and a hot food section. The selections are great and the employees are polite. I took 50 of the pan dulces to work and everyone really enjoyed them. They have a great selection and were nice and fresh. 5 stars. Tried the juice bar today. They have pre-made juices for 3$ or you can custom order a freshly squeezed drink for 8$. The drink was fire!! I did an orange, beet, ginger, pineapple, beet and spinach. So fresh!! I didnt realize they have half gallon jugs already in the cold section for the same price as a 16 oz. I think they would be really good with some liquor in them. Juice bar 5 stars!!! The food in the kitchen is ok. I had a carne asada burrito. The first time it was bland and the second a little salty. The pupusa was terrible. The torta is not bad. I wouldn't come here just for the kitchen but if I am already in the store and I am starving and don't want fast food or cook, it would do in a pinch. Cheese/chorizo area Wow, isn't that list beautiful! You will find traditional Mexican food: taco meat, carnitas, tamales, rice and beans etc. at the cocina. As well as traditional Mexican ceviche with fish or shrimp at the pescadería. In Addition fresh Mexican cheese, chorizo etc. What is new at this location is the Mexican ice cream shop and the guacamole station that I had never seen at any other Vallarta. Went in a couple of days before Christmas to pre order a large order of fajitas from the carnes frescas department to cook on Christmas. They acted like they'd never taken a pre-order before despite their signage saying we could pre-order by paying half for a deposit. After running around several minutes, the employee talked to someone in the back who seemed to know what she was doing. She gave me a "thumbs up" presumably meaning "I got your order." I asked the first employee if he was going to take my name or phone number and he said yes. He wrote down my name. number, and order and said I could pick it up Christmas morning at 8:00am. I returned on Christmas at 8:30am. It was a total different crew working the carnes frescas department and of course no one seemed to know what I was talking about. Luckily, they had plenty of fajitas ready on display. Decided to get some birria and asked an employee at the cocina department if they had any. She said they were getting it ready right now. Went to the register to order it and a different lady said they didn't have any at all. Decided to get tamales instead. Went to the tamale section and they only had 3 of the 6 types available. I asked an employee if any more would be brought out and she said they're not ready yet, despite the sign saying they are available at 7:00am. read more

This is THEE nicest store I have been into in Bakersfield. They have a fresh sushi bar, with chefs that will customize your order. Fresh Guacamole bar, that they will make to your liking. Agua Fresca station with all the fresh juices. (I recommend the Lemonade) Tamale station, with all the flavors you could ever want. DO I NEED TO GO ON? I am truly and honestly impressed by the thought that went into creating this store. It has a very welcoming presence when you walk in. Everything is spaced out, so you don't feel jammed packed. Everything is neatly and THOUGHTFULLY placed, and every staff member is accommodating and nice. I even go as far as mentioning that every label of every product is facing frontward? I hope that makes sense. It is very eye appealing and for anyone with OCD- This will be your jam! I couldn't brag enough about this store, and a big factor for myself was their ceviche bar. I am a HUGE aguachile and ceviche connoisseur. They have quick to-go cups neatly packaged for the lunch rush, which I immediately fell in love with (and have been back multiple times for) My fiancé & I went in this week and did all of our grocery shopping because not only do they offer everything you need, but the best prices. This being the newest location, it has all the bells and whistles. They seem to have it all, fresh everything! The parking lot is big and bright, there is always security, and no fear of getting hit by a car trying to get in the store. Walking it is so big and bright, and immediately smells the bakery and all its goodies. There are so many ready to eat food inside so you can eat inside while shopping. Watching them make fresh quac is a treat and you know it's delicious! Everyone there is so helpful and ready to do anything you need. One of the fanciest Vallarta I've ever been to. I like the designs and cleanliness of everything. Since it is pretty much brand new, everything is in good order and the produce and meats are fresh. I really enjoyed the shopping experience. They've also come out with a new pumpkin flavored tamale and it was very satisfying. We also got the pork tamale and it was ok. Not sure about the price since it was about $2.29 a piece, and last I got tamales, they were around $1.79? They also have these self labeling machines around the produce aisle that prints out price tags. Without my husband, I would've never thought to scan those, and it would've made for an entertaining checkout experience. The bakery in this location is amazing. I purchased a cake with my 5yr old Granddaughter for her Momma's birthday. When we got to our car she accidentally dropped it. She was in tears. I brought it into the bakery to ask if they could just do some piping on it and add a frosting rose on the top where it was cracked. I was told that once I bought it and left the store they couldn't be responsible for it and couldn't fix it. As I was getting ready to leave a gentleman Brian came over and told me that they didn't want us to have a bad experience with them and he and Jocelyn from the bakery replaced the whole cake. Produce section is big , prices are sharp not always the prettiest but it's for cooking, OK. Full service butcher that has more economical cuts - like house deboned chicken thighs and lot of chopped for sautés and stews and bones and bits for soups. I've never had food from Vallarta but I knew they had a good variety of Mexican food by seeing the menu board while in the store grocery shopping. Finally decided to try breaking items. Much much better than expected and great prices too. I tried Huevos Rancheros and Breakfast Burrito. Theeeee most authentic beans you'll ever have are here. I've had Huevos Rancheros dozens of time and this was definitely in top 5. Simple and delicious. Not a whole lot going on which is good and the taste on point. Cheese pupusa was freshly made and it was actually warm even after delivery and tasted so cheesy good like you wanna stuff it in your mouth in one go lol. I asked for guac and sour cream in the side. Generous portions and I usually buy guac from here because they are always making it fresh here in front of you and packing. It's a little pricey but worth the money. read more

Do not eat the PUPUSAS!! It is a waste of your money. The so called "mixta" pupusa taste like crap! You cannot tell what is cheese or beans or meat. It is a red blob of unflavored paper. It taste like freezer made, uncrustable old day tortillas! The worst part is having to wait forever to order food while the manager passes by you with her long hair entering the food area and putting on her hair net inside with the food - careful people hair might be in your food. She starts tasting the different food to offer. Can they do that? No one helped and I feel like crap from the worst customer service and food! Warning on your orders! The cashier in the register did not help to bag my groceries and I have so much, it took me forever to bag my groceries while he was just standing and waiting for me to finish. I didn't know if this is their policy for the customer to bag their own groceries. The second time I went i asked help to a sales lady there to locate an item i couldn't find but they're selling it and she just said "i don't know" and the other worker in the front has an attitude that obviously is not willing to help as well. The remodel here is AMAZING... they have everything that you could ever want in an "-eria" version (freshly made in front of you)... bad-ass flooring, music, prices, clean... it's an aesthetic and psychedelic experience.
