I'm leaving this review because of the complete lack of customer service--and honestly, the lack of common sense. People drive from far away, work all day, and come to your store expecting a basic level of courtesy. If you're going to have self-checkout registers, you can't expect customers to juggle everything, stack their groceries, and then repack everything themselves because you refuse to provide a bag when one is clearly needed. If you need an employee standing at every register to monitor customers, then maybe that same employee could actually help the customer. And Vanessa, this is especially for you: the attitude and facial expressions when customers ask for help are completely unnecessary. Nobody should feel like they're inconveniencing an employee simply because they asked for basic assistance. I understand Vallarta isn't Stater Bros. or Vons--that was my mistake for expecting the same level of customer service. But what bothers me the most is being treated this way by our own people. Stop profiling your own customers and start treating them with the respect and courtesy they deserve. Many of us work long hours and drive a long way to get home. We don't work where you work. We're tired, and the last thing we need is to be made to feel like asking for a bag or a little help is too much to ask. Customer service is part of the job. Common courtesy costs nothing. Honestly, experiences like this are exactly why people stop going back. If Vallarta wants customers to continue supporting the store, then management needs to get their employees' attitudes and customer service straight. The food is fresh and amazing while service is a bit slag, I would still give 5 stars! It is so clean, everything was so stocked and orderly. I purchased their tamales and rolls. I was surprised that they carried Peruvian foods, not too many but they had almost what I needed on my list. The parking lot is not up to par, but it's the desert so that's almost a given. I'm honestly writing this review because lately, things have really changed. There are hardly any cashiers anymore -- just a lot of self-service registers. Personally, I refuse to do a job that should be paid, especially since I don't get any discounts for doing it. I don't enjoy the experience. On the other hand, the cashiers that are there have become lazier. The level of service just isn't what it used to be, which is very disappointing. It used to be that they'd greet you and at least offer to bag your items, but now they barely say hi. If you bring your own bag, forget about it -- they won't help you at all. Today Thursday, January 15th I came to Vallarta not too long ago to buy myself a pound of shrimp to make. When I got home and opened the bag I got a strong smell of Ammonia, and as we should all know now that the smells of ammonia/chemicals coming from foods are not safe to eat. The texture was slimy and had little bubbles on it. Watch where you get food from and check it immediately once you get home. Nothing like GREAT customer service, which is why I am writing a public complaint about Vallarta. This after telling guy playing "security guard" I was going to. He simply said, "do what you gotta do." Not only did he NOT respect his elders, he made me stand back in the holiday line. Why? Because I stepped aside to talk with a disabled friend I hadn't seen in years. She was parked by door and told him my husband just went in. No husband but yes, my friend and I stood in line. He went in, I said goodbye to her, went to run in and was told I had to stand back in line. No IF'S, AND'S or BUTS. Was very rude, disrespectful, and far from understanding. Not one to cry over spilled milk, BUT... not all dis-ABLED people look it. Having me stand back in line was not easy on my scoliosis or bad knee. That young man playing bad cop needs a lesson in RESPECT. HE aside, I rarely go to that Vallarta and will now stop. Don't know how their bathrooms are these days during "COVID." But prior to it they were rather DISGUSTING. Adios Vallarta! Please school all your young employees on respect. Especially for the elders, and more so for the dis-abled. I love the layout of the store and the meat counter associates is always kind. When checking out, there's four or five women staring at only certain people. The only similarity is their skin tone. I'm not saying it's conscious but it's apparent and not appreciated especially since there are people without homes roaming the aisles. Don't just watch certain people. Ordered today a vampire(fresh juice) and a queso con Rajasthan tamale. The drink was very good as it is my favorite for several years. The tamale was good as the texture,but not the flavor. Not spicy at all. The cheese should have been white but looked orange to me. read more

Vallarta has a cocina (kitchen/cafe) in their store. I've purchased the agua frescas before and they're always good. My husband went today and purchased me the albóndigas meal. It comes with the albóndigas, cilantro, onion, lime, rice, and 3 corn tortillas. The caldo is ok but not my favorite. I got ONE meatball out of a 3 cup sized bowl. The rest is all vegetables and potatoes. To top it off the ONE meatball is not cooked through! I definitely did not eat it. They need to do better!!! Serving raw meat is not ok. read more

I was going to go with 4 stars due to the fact that the american groceries are seriously expensive here, but the mexican items are so darn good, fresh and fair priced, the service is exceptional at all areas from the bakery, butcher, at the register and at the restaurant section of the store. The location is HUGE, tons of parking, not too full and very well stocked. We ate tacos and burritos, both al pastor at the restaurant, excellent, the salsa bar exceptional, love the free grilled onions and peppers as well as both the red and green salsa. We purchased food at the bakery, butcher, fruits and veggies, everything has been very very good so far. I love the other Vallerta in Victorville as well, but this one is bigger, cleaner and better stocked, I'll be back! read more

My husband went in today to get shrimp. He went and bought the large shrimp when he came home to clean up the shrimp the shrimp was mixed with a small and large shrimp. I've been disappointed lately on my last two visits to Vallarta. I used to come here for the fruit and veggies but they have been old and stale. Looks like they don't care about their produce dept. You can see in the pic I posted that they don't check on the fruit. Spoiled and who knows for how long it's been there. We bought chicken soup and it was so salty! The Rotisserie Chicken was ok. I was in this morning to buy chicken. As I was waiting to be helped I noticed a lady repackaging the meat and chicken that have already been out on the floor. So now it makes sense that sometimes when you buy these items at these store and you open the package they smell bad it's because the repackage these items with a different exp date. I was in shock!! We went to Vallarta store #22 on Friday 3/18/22 for a birthday cake for my son that was turning 2, I asked the girl to write something on the cake for me and we went to pay it and when we picked it up she already had the box closed we didn't think anything of it and drove home 40 minutes away so we put the cake in the fridge and when we were ready to sing happy birthday we realized all of the strawberries on top of the cake had mold. So I called the store the next day and they refused to do anything about it they were only offering 50% of what I paid for the cake! Never again! You mean to tell me your worker didn't see the mold when she washed the strawberries or she just didn't wash them? I went to the store in Victorville and order 85 dollars of flap meat for carne asada, I pointed out to the person helping me wich one I wanted, then she turned around and got meat from a diferent box they had in there. I got home started grilling only to find out they gave me Milanesa meat wich is cheaper meat, they charged me 9.99 a pound for a meat that costs 3.99 a pound. I love the produce here always fresh and last long On Wed. & Thurs. They have specials that is very competitive with other markets. I shop here often. I also use customer service here for the western union or money gram (forgot which one it is) and this is why I put 4 stars ...the young girl that works at C.S. is very rude. My husband is a truck driver for construction machinery, he was in the area of the Valante store in Hesperia between deliveries. He ordered 3 tacos @$2.00 each. Went on to the next stop only to find as he is ready to eat. Each taco had less than 1 bite of meat in them. My husbands a nice guy, so after his delivery he returned to the store asking the attendent at the cocina - was there a mistake? Showing her the meat he was given, she laughed and said sorry sir this little measure cup is what we are told to use for each taco. Unbelievable! So, my husband at this point is HUNGRY! He asks for some chicken wings, and a water total / including the terrible excuse for tacos $14.00. with no other choice - he told me his story / very bad service, very bad customer service, extremely expensive.
