This is a hidden gem in Fresno. We moved from SCA to Fresno county recently, and have a hard time finding GOOD Asian supermarkets. This place is definitely one of them. They offer a variety of Asian Grocery - Korean kimchi and Buldak Ramen, Japanese seaweed for sushi, dried bonito for miso soup, Lee's coffee in case you're craving for Vietnamese coffee. There're a huge selection of seafood. The store is well maintained with no fishy smells even though they are selling A LOT of fish. This is hard to do. The Asian veggies are fresh, which I found it hard to get in Fresno. Will definitely shop here often. read more

Sunday after church we were ready to eat some good food so here we are! Sunday is busy but definitely worth the wait. We visited the bathroom which was clean and then got in line. Once again I was with my Filipino friend and she always says, "I love coming here because I feel like I'm back in the Philippines." She talked to all of her friends as they packaged the food we chose. It is so hard to choose what you want to eat because everything looks so delicious! Besides rice, pancit, and the other entrees we ordered, we got fried bananas and fruit salad. They are so yummy! There's a new bakery inside IP right at the entrance. There's so many desserts and pillowy soft baked breads to choose from. I love the fact there's always a plethora of clean cut Bok Choy to choose from for all the soups I make Sinigang, Nilaga, and tinola. There's always staff around to help you either at the bakery, deli, seafood fry and cashier. I really enjoy shopping there because it's so neat and organized. I was in the area with my mother, taking her out to get some fresh air and some groceries. My mom enjoys great food from all different types of cultures and ethnicity. We decided to stop by Island Pacific located of N. 1st St. The food is called fresh reasonably priced. My mom ordered the number two combo with some lumpia on the side and garlic peanuts. The line was not too long. It went by pretty fast. There is parking outside open to the public. This store is great. They have everything from freshly baked foods and most Asian household items you need. Frozen section and meat/seafood department is clean and so much to choose from. Their hot and ready foods have every type of Filipino dish. So much variety! The young man working was very helpful, he let me sample chicken skin which I ended up buying a half lb. He was helpful about letting us know what is what since we aren't familiar with some of the dishes. Place is clean and bright, everyone kept neat. We left with a combo #1 , came with pancit and steam rice and we chose pork bbq stick. So bomb. Also tried out their lumpia's which were huge, was mostly filled with veggies. I like coming here to get my fresh tilapia. They have it on ice. They have a lot of other varieties of fish as well. They take the scales out for you and the insides if you ask them to. I appreciate the sink in the back to wash your hands if needed. While they do that, I like to walk around the store to see what they have. I always go to the noodle section. Saw some noodles on my last visit I might want to try next time. I got the viral fruit shaped ice creams here too and they were a little cheaper than other competitors. They carry a lot of Filipino cooking necessities like pre prepped ingredients. And a bunch of Filipino brands. It is a Filipino store after all lol. I like that they have a food court in there too. Love that there's an island pacific that's closer to me than having to go over the hill to the Bay Area. You'll find all your essentials, I grabbed pancit noodles and some sauce packets, and some snacks. There were a lot of shoppers when I came so no carts or hand baskets were available, make sure to grab your reusable bags so you can have something to put your items in. The staff are super friendly, as with just about any Filipino person you'll meet! They have a hot food restaurant serving up grilled chicken and pork skewers and a variety of your typical Filipino dishes. I got the skewers with pancit and lechon. It was really good and totally hit the spot. There's a decently sized seating area to have your lunch, but it can get packed. When I walked into the store every chair was taken. Luckily a spot opened up when I was done shopping and ready for lunch. I'll definitely be coming here for my Filipino cravings if I don't have to drive to the Bay Area. read more

This was my first visit. Initially they had solicitors standing in front of the store, one of them followed a lady into the store trying to bribe her into signing up for something. By the time we left the store, they were gone. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Found ingredients I hardly come across at local grocery stores. I went yesterday 9/19/29 around 5pm to buy some pork hock . The guy(Filipino) in the meat department is not nice at all. I ask him to cut the pork hock and he said relentlessly & rude " we cut only into 4 pieces".He does not give me any option at all . He made me feel like costumer does not any right to ask. We ended up bringing home seaweed snacks, a new ramen to try, mini bottle of vanilla extract, panda cookies, pad Thai dinner mix, and salmon skin chips. I love Asian food and cook it often so I thought I would give this place a try for grocery shopping. It is absolutely filthy dirty. One of the meat cutters was chopping up chicken and was coughing open mouth over the meat. The fish and shrimp was stacked up and not on ice, looked really bad and smelled rotten. I needed to buy some groceries since we were getting low. Since this place was right around the corner I figured I would give this place a try. I didn't want to travel too far to my usual grocery stores. They have a good selection on meats, fish, and produce but I still couldn't find all that I needed so I still had to go to another store which was across the way. Staff were kinda rude. The girls up front were quite chatty with each other and didn't acknowledge their customers. I interrupted my cashier and asked her if they had sweet rice and where would I be able to find it. She said she down that aisle pointing to an aisle. she then said, "if you are going to go look you have to go back in line so you need to put your things back in your basket". I told her I was just going to go ahead and check out. She just rolled her eyes and continued her conversation with her coworker. I bought some fish that was already prepackaged and fresh fish. The packaged fish did not smell good at all. It had a rotten fishy smell so I threw it away. The fresh fish was ok. Not as fresh as other fish at another store where I usually buy from. I came to Island Pacific Supermarket twice as for the first time I was looking for stuff to make UBE milkshakes and needed boba. The second time I came was because due to COVID-19 the dude and I needed rice and he couldn't find any, any while until I suggested to try out the Asian Grocery stores as the average person will be going to major stores for such items. Boy was I right! They had a plethora of rice and everything was pretty stocked up as other stores were overwhelmed with the shelves flying empty. They didn't even have limits on rice. So we grabbed two big bags of brown rice. The store was pretty empty with people but more people were starting to trickle in not too bad. They have a plethora of UBE products which my dude and I love and we made our own delicious boba drinks. They also had SO much noodles. The staff was very friendly and the store was very clean and organized. We didn't look for toilet paper or Sanitizers as we are stocked up for months before the COVID-19 outbreak. They asked us to come teach their immediate family of 3 and their brother-in-law's family of 2 and their sister-in-law and her fiancé how to make our Winter Ultimate Slow Cooker Comfort Stew. I had learned from my mother who had learned it from her mother. Cousins drove us to and from. Upon arrival, cousins recommended Island Pacific Supermarket- Fresno for shopping for our ingredients. Island Pacific Supermarket- Fresno's food was okay although thoroughly check for freshness we quickly realized. Their customer service was a bit standoffish as it seemed I was competing for attention with a wait staff's cell phone and not as forthcoming with assistance as I wanted since I was new to the store. Hence 4 stars instead of 5. All day the sunshine was like gloam. It was too wet to outside-play. So we cook and play Scrabble in the home. All that cold, cold, wet day.
