I have no idea why they call an rv park a resort. A problem with 55 and up communities is that just because a person has grown old does not give them the right to be rude and unkind. It is amazing how a few nasty people can destroy the work of so many. The problem is there seems to be a few of these people in every aspect of the community. Picklebll monitors walk around like peacocks with no training or people skills. Driving inside the resort is always a challenge. Once again, without consideration to. Anyone but themselves, they parade in the middle of the street and either because they are hard of hearing or they are wearing EarPods at any given moment the people walking could swerve in front of your car. The bicyclist run stop signs and do the same thing that the walkers do. It is astonishing that no one has been hurt. Facilities are fine as are the work campers and the permanent staff. Even though I am a senior citizen, I find these communities to be too old, to large for my taste. The amount charged to live in a community like this is not worth it to me. I don't want to discourage anyone from visiting. I would say go for a short time before signing a long-term lease get a feel for the vibe. read more

We have never stayed here, so this review is about their reservation policy. First, you must stay two weeks minimum!!d and second, $100 fee is it is necessary to cancel!! The person answering the phone could also have stated these policies in a much friendly way. Had wanted to visit friends in October (not high season) and check out this resort. However, these policies made us change our mind and frankly, with that attitude, may never stay!! read more

I'm not sure what these people are talking about, and looking at the dates of the reviews, it seems some things have changed. Spent 2 weeks at a friends park model and enjoyed it completely. Yes, the land lease is high but EVERY park charges just about the same amount. Every person we ran in to was friendly and wanted to stop and talk. Looked at a few units (shout out to Angie and Karen) who were patient and very kind showing them to us. Unfortunately a heath problem came up and we could not pull the trigger at that time. We will keep looking there as we enjoyed the activities they have. Live music every night was wonderful. Food was great and the quarter beers ever so often were great! If anyone wants to rent or sell their unit for Jan,Feb,March (Preferably Feb and March) reach out here and give me your contact info so we can talk. They keep the grounds up nicely. I want to come back next year but am having trouble finding a unit. See it for yourself before making a opinion. read more

The prices here are out of control. The management can not be reached. The internet is terrible and no one will help wit the problems. Yet ever year the the rent goes up!!!! We are rethinking our plan to stay here. Why? I've phoned the activities office on and off for two weeks with questions about purchasing concert tickets but no one ever answers the phone. Not once. I left voice messages and I phoned guest services and they left messages too. But here we are two weeks later and still no response. This is the month of June; ordinarily a down time for Arizona resorts. If these people are non responsive now I can't imagine what it's going to be like during high season. Unfortunately this is becoming all too common for Cal-Am resorts generally. read more

Note: I came here in a motor home not to rent or buy a retirement home. To start, when you call to book a night or two stay there are endless unusual questions asked. Once you get through the questions and book your two night stay (paid in advance with a no refund policy) you are then sent the rules and regulations. Too late if something was not to your liking as they had your non refundable money. Upon arrival we were met and were escorted to a gravel patch with a concrete pad next to it. We were told to move the trash can to the curb if we put anything in it. There was not a blade of grass to be seen, just gravel. On a scale of one to ten I would rate this a one. Love this park! So many amenities, if you can't find something you enjoy then it's your fault! The park is so clean, trees well trimmed, flowers everywhere and if there is a holiday they go all out. When purchasing our park model they were so accommodating and informative. Everyone you see says "hi" and waves like they know you. The music on the patio is fantastic, every night there is a different live band that you can dance to or just have happy hour and enjoy! During this Covid pandemic they have been very creative with the social distancing to accommodate the residents. We were at another park prior to this and it doesn't even compare. The park amenities are wonderful, everything you could possibly think of. The park is doing a good job of managing people and covid restrictions. I would give the park higher stars as far as RV park comparisons. The lower stars reflect the people. Now don't misunderstand we've met some nice folks but if it is your first year it will be hard to break into activities click. Want water aerobics fight your way to place in pool. People have their spots and don't want to move over for one more. Want to play water volleyball not going to happen. They have the daily group and you can be standing in pool ready for game to start you are ignored. Want to sew make sure you to plug iron in the right outlet or you get reprimanded . Want to play cards be sure to deal 3 at a time or people get irate. I understand covid rules but there are far to many unnecessary donts here. This is your typical senior RV park in Mesa, AZ. There are tons of them out here - 75% park models and the rest RV's. These folks keep the place looking good - clean bathrooms, laundry room, grounds, pool area, etc. It is a huge park with 2 pools kept very warm - one is a lap pool and is a bit cooler. The 2 jacuzzis are very hot - like 105, but I'd rather them be too hot than not hot enough! There is a nice billiards room, sewing room, wood working, leather making, lapidary, card room - they have it all and then some. Live music plays many afternoons with dancing & this year they added a tiki bar that is open from 1-7, 6 days a week. They also have concerts and special dinners. The list goes on, but their tennis courts are many & lit, they have a great softball field with bleachers, shuffle board, pickle ball, you name it...they got it. I was a little freaked when we first drove through the place - like, I just don't think I can do this! But I LOVE IT!! Granted I couldn't get in the place without my 60 yr old hubby but, the internet is good, we have a lovely spot and nice neighbors. Everyone is friendly enough and we even extended our 2 month stay another week. We have made rezzies for next winter, although not completely sure we will be here, it's only $50 to cancel, which is better than not being able to get in here at all - the place is so busy we know peeps that couldn't get in! read more

The park has the possibility of being a solid 5 star rating if the owners (Cal-Am) and management changed a few things. We own a park model and have been here for a few years, unfortunately the benefits seem to decrease even with a yearly 8500.00 fee per owner. I have NEVER seen anyone clean the pool or hot tubs. Hundreds of people use them on a daily basis yet I'm not sure they get any cleaning other than added choline. They advertise classes such as silver smithing, pottery, leather works, stain glass, sewing, etc yet what they don't mention is that it's all up to volunteers. Meaning you cannot attend any classes unless a volunteer/monitor is on site to assist you. The silversmith classes are booked out a YEAR due to lack of volunteers. Why can't they take some of the fees they charge to pay for the monitors or provide credit towards their rental fee. The pickle ball courts are awesome but lack the management and knowledge to form teams and participate with other parks. Pickle ball players are passionate and should be awarded the opportunity to train and play teams outside the park but the current association doesn't see it that way. read more

This is one of the nicer resorts in the area. They spend a lot of time and money organizing activities and events for the residents. As a result, it costs a bit more than some of the other resorts. However, as the old adage goes, you get what you pay for. One other difference that I've noticed is that the owners put a lot of energy into the things they do, whether personally hosting an event or hiring out for entertainment. The amenities are nice and the grounds are well cared for, except the dog parks and tennis courts. The freeway noise is 24/7 non stop, with over head helicopters running all night long to the local trauma hospital about 4 blocks away. The pool, patio and outdoor areas are nice, but you're not allowed to bring in food or drinks within the pool, patio/dancing area (gated). All food/drinks must be purchased with credit card. This rule has recently changed and has had a damaping effect on happy hour (4 PM - 6 PM). The Cactus Grill is so-so with a very limited menu,and the drinks are small. Occasionally the M - F happy hour band is decent, but mostly off-tune and they all play the same music. Boring... Most of the residents are friendly, but getting into a club and feeling comfortable takes time. All in all, I'd skip this park, unless you have lots of friends here. Pickle Ball courts and members are the best part of the park....this place is expensive $$$ and maybe not practical if you don't use the faucilities. Dog parks are nice, but sickness is a constant problem, and the park (VDO) doesn't disinfect on a regular schedule. read more

A beautiful park with many amenities mostly because of volunteers. The people who come here are wonderful and fun. The management no longer embraces customer service. This year the rent has gone up to over $1000 per month if you stay for 3 months and close to $7000 for park model residents. Things that have changed in the last few years: Trash and sewer are now an extra charge along with metered electricity that was always charged. Park model residents must pay sewer,water and trash removal all year A major part of the common area has been fenced for the new alcohol and restaurant license. You may not bring snacks or your own drink to happy hour to listen to music and dance. You can only buy what they have. Which has gone up in price and food is a very limited selection. We used to go all the time, drinking our own drinks and eating popcorn they provided for their happy customers. These happy customers told everyone they knew to come visit because it was so wonderful. Now we don't. Now they are going cashless, so you must use your credit card for each drink or hamburger. No salads or soups are even available. This is a little hard for Canadians who have an extra fee for out of country credit card use. Never mind their rent is significantly higher because of the value of their dollar. The laundry used to be quarter operated. Now you must buy a $5.00 card and then put more money on it to wash. The $5.00 is just for the plastic. The craft shops and sports people used to have raffles and other things to help buy materials for their favorite activity. They can't do that now since VDO will not buy a license for them to help and make the park nicer. Remember, these people who organize and maintain all shops etc are volunteers who have been enjoying the very profitable (for the owners) park. Now this year, we all received a letter stating we must pay for the 3 month high season in total or we could not come to the park. Consequently many people cancelled. After we got here, they changed their tune due to all the empty spots. These are only a few of the events I remember. While we all know that costs must go up to the end user because of increasing operating costs, a entity in the customer service business should consider weather they are making all their clients angry, causing profits to decrease no matter how much they charge. It is kind of like the airlines, we are just waiting for pay toilets! read more

THIS PARK REQUIRES TWO DiFFERENT SCORES. As an RV Park it is a 3. The roads are rather narrow, the sites are gravel although there is a long raised concrete patio, and utilities are at the far back of the site but management wants you to park at the front of the site. Our cable didn't work but the antenna sufficed,. There is a nice grassy dog park but it would have been nice if people picked up after their dogs. The park is gated and they ask you to wear name tags while in the park though I didn't see anyone wearing them. The park is huge (at least 500 sites) but only one way in and two ways out unless you are a resident. Beautiful facilities overall though we were not there long enough to use them. Disappointed that they did not give us our Good Sam discount "because it is February." The reason this place requires two different shoes is because at least 80% of the park is occupied by park models and mobile homes. I suspect before long there will be no RV sites. They have a very, very active social calendar and, as I said, beautiful facilities. Without having experienced the social aspect, I would still guess this earns a 5 for snowbirds who maintain a home here year round. read more

We have been here for two concerts: One by B.J. Thomas and the other by Vicki Lawrence. The good: The tickets for both shows were really a great deal -- both were in the low 30s. And the lineup of concerts was very interesting. The Vicki Lawrence show had just played in Las Vegas at a casino on the strip. The sound in the auditorium was also first rate -- it was clear and loud, but not too loud. It was very pleasant. The bad: The "theater" is not really a theater, but a multipurpose room that they fill with folding chairs. Therefore, there is no slope, so if someone tall sits in front of you, you're out of luck. There was also a slight overhang on the stage. This wasn't an issue with Vicki Lawrence. In the case of someone tall like B.J. Thomas, however, you couldn't see the top of his head for a good portion of the show. The odd: Both shows were sold out, so you needed to arrive early to get inside. The ushers and staff were all senior citizens. This isn't a big deal, but it means you don't get inside as quickly as you would at a regular theater. There is bit of a Mayberry vibe to the place: Before both shows, an announcement warned the audience not to use a specific bathroom, because it was "reserved for the talent." But still, for the celebrities and the ticket price, it's hard to complain very much. read more

This resort is simply the best. Andy & Tess, the resort managers, along with Glenda the activity director, are very welcoming and keep the resort in excellent condition. Lots to do and the entertainment is fabulous. When we visited we were treated with the upmost respect and felt like we were among friends. I would recommend this resort to everyone who would like a fun place to enjoy the winter sun. read more
