Terribly disappointed. Sign said to "Please Seat Yourself", my party (3, including me) found a table outside. We sat ignored by staff for over 20 minutes. Looking around, we thought maybe they were short staffed so we would move inside. We took a seat at the big long high table across from the bar. There was a party at each end that had drinks and food. Servers checked in with each party and yet no one acknowledged us. So finally after being at this establishment for over 30 minutes and completely ignored we left and are going to have our friend's birthday dinner elsewhere. Worst experience ever. read more

I actually just got back from dinner here with my bf. The food was really good minus the yam fries. I guess it's an acquired taste, a taste which I obviously do not aquire. The beer is good, and great service. Seems like a great place for a big party, to watch the big game or just have some brewskies. I love getting their sample platter here. Their fried calamari is sooooo good! Crispy and always served hot. Their burgers are also really good and is such a large portion. I get mine with mushroom and swiss and I absolutely love it. The service is always friendly and I've never had a problem when I go. The beer used to be pretty good before they changed management, after that I wasn't too impressed with it. But tonight that all changed, I had the Cherry Wheat beer (replacing their regular wheat beer) and it was actually quite impressive. The food there is sub-par, and is never all that great, but the portions are good, and the bar is always fully stocked with amazing scotches and high end spirits. Go for a cocktail, and some nachos, but unfortunately, the yam fries aren't as good since the new owners took over. read more

The first restaurant in literally about 10 years that would not allow outside wine. We were more than willing to pay a corkage fee. We understand they are there to make money. Owner literally stated she would rather get nothing for alcohol than allow us to pay a fee to drink a wine we love. Stupid. Gotta be fair and honest, food was good and service was solid. Love love love the fries!! They are soo good, swear I dream about thembut seriously can't get enough of them, the mushroom swiss burger is my favorite, perfectly cooked, delicious juicy burger. The outdoor setting is really nice, had a strawberry shortcake martini and that was yummy too, have sampled some of the beers and those were good as well, perfect place to relax, hang out with some friends and enjoy good drinks and good food, literally stayed for hours outside with my friends, our server was super sweet too and everyone seemed to be pretty friendly read more

Our server Josh was excellent, I asked him if they had a particular beer which they did not so he suggested a beer cocktail that had similar flavors and it was very good! I live in Concord and visit my lady from time to time and have stopped here on various occasions. I enjoyed the food and service here however I was completely appalled when I was presented the bill. I was offered onion rings as a sub and not told would be an up charge, needless to say I was but no big deal as the portion was good size and worth the extra expense. What was disturbing was the .50 charge for the mayo and ketchup I requested for my Patty Melt. Keep in mind these were 2 ounce solo cups filled 3/4 of the way. Been in the restaurant business for 35+ years and feel that a charge on a meal like this is a desperate attempt by management to increase check average. When I questioned the waiter was told he HAD to charge for the items because the manager was back there and would require a charge for it. In the future I would rethink going there again if that is their policy and would Recommend that anyone going there DOUBLE check their bill. Only place I know that charges for extra sauce is those fast food burger places and they post the up charge where everyone can see it. TO THE MANAGEMENT Nickle and diming your customers will cost you more money in the long run than to simply supply something that should be considered a given!!! read more

We stopped in to try the beer, which is only listed on a chalkboard by the bar. My husband tried the Fogcutter, which he thought was good. He told the bartender he wanted to try something new, which he'd never had before, but wasn't even offered any of the house beers to try. There is a beautiful patio to sit out and enjoy your meal on. We stumbled upon Valley Brewing by accident by following some other people in the door. We were actually intending to try the Abby Trappist. In town for a pre-season NHL game Sharks vs Canucks and had left ourselves plenty of time to get to the nearby rink early but thought we'd get a quick beer and appy first. We made sure to let our server know of our plans and that we didn't have much time. The place was about 1/3 full. We ordered potato skins (5), nachos with the extra $3 pulled pork topping and 3 beers. She delivered our beers fairly quickly but it took 22 minutes for the potato skins. Only 3 were on the plate although we had ordered the larger 5 order. They were burnt black on the outside. She said they would remake it but we said we were in a hurry to get to the game. It took 52 minutes for our nachos to finally arrive and they were nasty and inedible! Almost no cheese, very little pulled pork ($3 extra), and a cold disgusting enchilada sauce poured all over it. Probably the worst nachos I've ever tried. Needless to say, we were late for the game and missed half of the first period due to their extremely slow service. I go here semi-regularly for lunch. The half salad order is enough to feed 3 people, so I go there if I am starving, lol. I have always enjoyed their sandwiches and hamburgers. My co-worker and I's favorite used to be the deep fried mushrooms, and the half order was almost enough to feed both of us for lunch; but lately they changed their menu and all portions have been significantly reduced and food is not as good it used to be. The service does take a while I will admit, even for lunch. I think this is a good lunch spot but other than that I don't think I would go here for dinner or drinks. read more

Wow! I gotta say, Valley Brew has totally kicked it up a few notches. I stopped going 7 or 8 months ago, but recently heard they had good new management and new chefs so I checked it out and was definitely impressed. Not only do they still have there own brews but also expanded there bottle selection to include some great hard to find gems like Stone 15th anniversary Black IPA. Additionally the food on the new menu was awesome! No more boring bland brew food. They still had some standards but, I had a blackened Salmon that I would put against any I've had anywhere in town. If you gave up on VB it's worth your time to give it shot again. Im really glad I did. read more

I finally had the chance to check this place out on a Thursday night. My friend and I already had a few drinks at Misaki's, so we started here with Angry Orchards beer with a shot of Fireball mixed in it, that was off the hook! The place had a mixed crowd of young college age patrons and middle aged OG like myself. They had a free raffle that night and a live jazz band playing next door, the bathrooms were a little different, they're genderless, as women are leaving, im entering, so that was kinda strange and new to me, lol. I was at a convention in Stockton which hosted 600+ people. When it got to the dinner break, about 50 or so of us headed over to Valley Brewing to get some food and beer. To be honest, we completely slammed the staff and they did a very good job accommodating us. There was plenty of seating on the porch and they got us the food in a reasonable amount of time. The waiters were working hard and the manager did a great job fixing any problems. Food was good and they seemed to have a good selection of beer. My only issue with the place is they let some guy smoke a cigarette at his table only feet away from a baby. Luckily some other people spoke up and got the guy to put it out. I would suggest this place to anyone wanting to enjoy some pub style food with a cold beer and friends. Best days to go are when the temps are nice enough to be on the porch. read more

I've always enjoyed valley brew for great food all the games and great bartenders! But today I don't know what has happened the bartenders are not attentive at all. My friend sat there with a empty beer for over 15 minutes as we watched the bartender stand there and talk with the cooks at window!!!! Decided to leave had to go over there and get him for the bill. If you haven't been in a while or never been at all... Valley is undergoing quite a few changes. Don't really understand them. I have eaten here plenty pre change and a few times during changes and I don't really know when the changes are going to end. They pulled the tanks, which is baffling to me, I know they are brewing for bottling at a new site. Good for them. But the tanks gone? It's not really a brewhouse anymore. We already have one fake one. BJ's. I guess Valley used this as a indicator. BJ's is always busy and they are a fake brewhouse so maybe Valley should follow suit. I don't know. The staff that I spoke with doesn't either. Multiple staff complained the management isn't keeping them informed about any off this and what they do tell them they are not buying. Aren't they your front-line to the customer? I hate it when business do this. The beer has continued to be good so props to them for it not effecting that, or maybe its just the brewmaster who deserves the credit. The menu. Magically shrunk. I thought they had some pretty decent choices before, unique choices that were not typical of brewhouse fare. Which I liked. Gone. Pretty plain jane stuff. For whatever its worth there is a new face almost everytime I go (workers that is), rotating door businesses scare me. Until the dust settles and the real Valley Brew is standing I don't think I will be a regular anymore. I don't mind changes at all. Just not a fan of lame changes that are poorly executed and seem nonsensical. Oh and waiter, the word Hun. That is gone from our vocabulary for professional interaction with customers. And don't deepen the black eye of not knowing this by using it 12 times during service! From the reviews on here, they might have lost their only great chef, my buddy...bummer. Anytime I have come to visit, the food was always good (thanks Christian A - if you see this contact me I'm no longer in Santa Cruz!). Last time I was there another old buddy of mine was their bartender. I know small world. He made very good mixed drinks. Their beers are always good, and have many faves. The prices were also reasonable and I love the atmosphere there. Last time I was there Mimi (in full get up) from the Drew Carey show was there along with Bret Hart (the wrestler, had no idea he lived nearby somewhere). They have a great outdoor patio, and plenty of space inside even for events or just chillin'. Service was always prompt, professional and friendly and I have brought many friends to this place from out of town on many occassions. I owe Valley Brew another star. I've only ever eaten appetizers or sandwiches, never a meal here. Last nite, Bob's boss took the crew out to eat and I ordered an asparagus pasta with chicken. Wow, this was a chef quality meal. One of my companions had the spinach/cheese ravs with tomato sauce and my that looked good too-she cleaned her plate! The guys went for the meat, a NY steak (thick and medium rare) and two burgers one of which was Bobs. It came with sweet potato/yam fries, yum-yum; I guess if we are in public it's now okay to eat off his plate-ha! The food was served piping hot and the timing was good too; most everyone was served within just minutes of all table mates. The waitress kept the soft drinks, beer and wine coming. Then; there was desert! Everyone moaned at the thought of it but decided to order and share anyway. Chocolate Mousse cheesecake, raspberry cheesecake, Pleasant Valley Sundae (a mountain of ice cream, caramel syrup and whipped cream atop a hill of yam fries-woweewow! There were no leftovers in site! I've been going to VB for 20 years but I've reached my limit. I love the atmosphere, food is okay,brews are cold but the service is hit and miss and mostly miss. I could tell many stories but I'll share my very last. Went in for a burger and a brew. It wasn't busy but I couldn't get waited on, and mind you I was sitting at the bar. After about 15 minutes I was finally waited on. Just so happened the Kelly the owner came by to offer assistance. I spent a few minutes sharing my 20 years of bad experiences and she listened and offered apologies. When it was time to play up and she never came back with my change. I had fully intended to not leave a tip but the bill and my money had disappeared. They have never offered to comp a burger or beverage after repeated poor service. For the record I usually tip 20%. I will never go back unless it's under new ownership. read more
