As I age, nice to see I now can get an e-bike here to cope with Westchester's steep hills. Loving the new cargo e-bike I bought recently. It is turning into a car-replacer. The shop's location is fantastic, smack in the center of the Rivertowns on Dobbs' Main Street and very close to the Aqueduct Trail, Bee Line Bus stops (buses now all have bike racks on them), and the MetroNorth station. More on-street parking spaces seem to be available since Dobbs made some changes to pricing and rules, plus there is a municipal lot around the corner and Dobbs even installed some on-street bike parking. The location really helps with the killing time during a repair. Depending on how busy they are, I can get a coffee, lunch or swing by the hardware store or some of the new shops downtown or even hang in the Library across the street which has a nice view of the Palisades. Or if it is going to need an overnight or two stay, I can hop on the pretty-frequent for the suburbs bus to get home.

They offered their contact info so the manufacturer could speak to them directly if needed or had any questions. They put the new part on right away once it was received -- it was shipped directly to them (another courtesy they offered me) and had it ready for me first thing next day. Jason and Dominic are the best! SO happy I live close by to have these knowledgeable guys take care of my bike whenever needed.

That includes an old Full-Campy Custom Serotta, and an old but high-end Trek Tri-bike that my daughter used for many years, including commuting in Montreal at McGill, and lately training for a Half-Ironman. Bicycle World re-fitted my daughter's old Trek last year, helping to solve a developing knee problem. I consider the $200 price for a complete fitting (with posture-suggestions) was a deal, considering the alternative costs in pain and medical expenses. They can't do anything about my pain trying to keep up with my daughter up hills, however. This week, I bought her a used Cervelo P3 bike from theproscloset.com, and again, Bicycle World did a very complete and fine-tuned fitting. They also fixed a couple significant issues: (1) somebody had dropped a seat-clamp into the frame, which required completely disassembling the crank and headset to extract, and (2) the derailleur drop-out was bent out of alignment. theproscloset.com was actually happy to pay for those fixes on an otherwise- pristine bike. The less-than-one-day turnaround was perhaps lucky, but great since my daughter is here for only a few more days. We should all support our LBS, and I'm very happy with mine. I also find their prices are usually as good as Amashame.com or is it Amascam.com? In the shop they are all wearing masks (and I mean correctly!) which I also appreciate.

Awful Experience -- Stay Away from This Bike Shop…read more I've tried to give this place the benefit of the doubt, but after multiple bad experiences, I'm done. The co-founder -- who seems to be the face of the business -- is consistently rude, dismissive, and lacks basic customer service skills. Today was the final straw. I came to pick up my bike after clearly telling their service rep I'd be in on Wednesday or Thursday. Instead of being helpful, I was met with attitude for not "calling ahead." I'm sorry, but I gave a window -- and you're closed Sunday -- so maybe don't take it out on your customers. Previously, she left me standing outside even though it was one minute before opening. Another time, she snapped at me for wanting to load my bike into the car before paying -- as if helping a customer ensure the product fits isn't part of the job. And when I finally spoke up about how I've been treated over the years, she literally told me she didn't like my tone. Not professional. Not acceptable. If you value good service, skip this place. Anyone know a better bike shop in Westchester? I'm in Ossining -- happy to drive 15-20 minutes for respectful, reliable service. This is a fantastic family-run local store that gives excellent service, has great products, and…read moregoes the extra mile for its customers. I considered buying an eBike online, but realized how important it was to have local, in-person support. I want to be able to bring the bike in anytime, rather than have to deal with an online support group overseas that may or may not be responsive. If I have a problem, I know the bike will be fixed on-site and I'll be riding again quickly. Riley and his wife were incredibly friendly, supportive, patient, and flexible. They took any concern or fear I had of e-bikes out of the equation. The excellent warranty for the product and the test ride won me over. I went with a Ridge Rider as I want to ride trails, but at not a fan of the fat tire e-bikes. The accessories are where the prices start to creep up, so while they individually are reasonable, in aggregate it can jack up your bike cost. I am incredibly happy with my purchase and the fact that I bought local from a family-run business. If you're considering an e-bike, visit Riley and the family before you make a final decision.

Rude? Yes. When I shopped for bikes for my kids, I bypassed the place and bought mine in Ft Lee! After 20+ years of patronage, I am never to step in there again because the owner condescends on his customers! Not everyone who rides a road bike rides 10,000 miles, but a local shop owner should not make them feel inferior when they have supported them for so many years.
