Maria S.

Apologetically, this review is about month overdue... here it goes: After researching very carefully, and reading TripAdvisor reviews, I chose Valley Girl Tours for a private wine tour with my boyfriend. From the very beginning, my communication with Ava was clear and seamless. She asked questions that familiarized her with what my boyfriend and I were trying to achieve out of our wine tour experience. Based on our answers, she provided various options that would suit any budget. We ended up going with the option that aside from private transportation, 3 wineries, and a cheese shop stop, included a tasting menu lunch. As it turned out, Ava had another tour scheduled for the day we selected, but she passed us on to Boris. She assured we'd be in great hands and with that said, our tour was planned. On the day of our tour, Boris was on time (actually early like we were) and waiting for my boyfriend and I outside our Airbnb. He greeted us with a welcoming smile and we immediately felt comfortable and knew we had made the right decision. On each stop on the tour, you could tell the winery owners and employees loved Boris and had a fantastic relationship established with him. In turn, as members of his tour, we were able to experience each location as locals and join in on the inner circle while learning things we wouldn't have otherwise. And as everyone knows, exploring new places with locals is always better. As the tour went on, and we purchased a bottle from each stop, along with some delicious artisan cheese, bread, and honey (upon Boris' recommendation), we got to know Boris better. He educated us in the history of the wine in the area, had fun facts about the wine, cracked jokes, and was so easy to talk to. On our final stop, Boris definitely saved the best for last. We experienced the most exquisite food by Chef Saul Flores surrounded by gorgeous architecture and a breathtaking vineyard. This part was my absolute favorite, and after a four course meal, Boris encouraged us to take a picture to commemorate the day. As a bonus, Ava was actually eating with her own tour guests at this time and we were able to meet her! Our tour had now come to and end, and Boris took us home. BUT WAIT! THERE'S MORE! Boris gave us his number and mentioned that if we weren't busy and wanted to try some really awesome tacos, he'd be more than happy to meet us later in the evening. This is the part where most Americans would probably think that it was an empty offer, or "bar talk" that you'd agree on and not follow through. Not the case. Boris was 100% genuine and we ended up meeting him out for some of the best tacos of our trip as well as beers afterwards. I can't say enough good things about both Boris and Ava. They are professional individuals that maintain a personal touch to their business. If you are looking for a wine tour that is personalized, educational, with a local's perspective, and fun, you've found the right one. Thank you so much for the memories!

The wines were fantastic, but what really made the experience stand out was the service. Everyone we interacted with was warm, welcoming, and genuinely excited to share their wines and story with us. Our sommelier was especially wonderful and made the tasting feel personal and relaxed rather than rushed or scripted. One of our favorite parts of the visit was the chocolate and wine pairing that my husband and I did together. Every pairing was thoughtfully put together, and it was so much fun discovering how the flavors changed and complemented each other with every sip and bite. The best surprise of the day? Finding out our sommelier was from the 805! As fellow Central Coast locals, it made the experience feel even more special and gave us an instant connection that we definitely weren't expecting to find in the middle of wine country in Baja.

Service here took a long time to just get menus and initial drinks. We also ordered food that was no longer available. When we did order, the food took near an hour to come to our table. The place was severely understaffed and most of our utensils were dirty. Place offers great views of the vineyard. It's just about the only good thing this place has. Sadly. They do have a "Michelin rated" restaurant inside the building, curious to see what the service there is. Overall, i would say there are so many other wineries around Valle de Guadalupe that offer better services/food and drinks.

Xecue Winery This…read morewas our first stop of the day, and honestly... it was just meh. ‍ We did the classic 5-wine tasting because we were on a mission to hit at least one more spot before dinner - priorities, you know. The wines were good. My friend fell in love with the first one, a white whose name apparently meant LOVE in the local dialect. Very on brand for her. ‍ We also tried their cheese breads - they had savoury and sweet options. I was team savoury while my friend was all about the sweet because balance, right? Overall, nice little stop to warm up our taste buds, but nothing that blew our minds. Just a casual "hey, we're in Valle" vibe before continuing our wine-fueled adventures.

Trying to get them off of me was not easy and nobody who worked there seemed to care. I got them off and walked away- and they bit my calf so hard that it bled. They were cute and I love dogs- but not great for a fancy place. The entire time they came over to the table and begged for food and jumped up on me. Location was gorgeous and wine was pretty good- tasting was expensive and they poured enough for one sip only. The food was great, but also expensive for such small portions. You'd think after the dogs making me bleed there'd be some generous pours or something- but nope! Some of the tastings were under a single ounce. Overall gorgeous location and great tasting wine and food- but won't be returning due to the outrageously small portions, expensive price, and dining experience with biting and begging dogs.

The roof is literally made of old fishing boats flipped upside down over the cellar. The owner is a retired ship captain, so once you walk inside it all clicks. It's funky and a little weird, and I loved it. Our host was a gem. Knowledgeable, attentive, generous, and so into what he was pouring that he kept slipping us extras to try beyond our tasting. We tried some of their natural wines, and I LOVED them. The orange wine, especially. They reminded me of a good sour beer, kind of funky and tart, and I was very into it. Heads up, though: the rest of my group of four hated them. Natural wines are a love them or leave them situation. After our tasting, we hung out on the grounds and grabbed food from the Troika food truck out front, and honestly, we could have stayed all afternoon. The whole place is so unhurried, and after two more buttoned-up tastings, it was exactly what I needed. Different from the others, not better or worse. I really enjoyed the wine and the whole hangout, and I'll absolutely be back on our next trip.

He picked us up early right at the border, and the pickup was unbelievably smooth and easy -- the perfect stress-free start to the day. From the moment we met him, he was warm, friendly, and genuinely kind. His car was super comfortable, and he immediately adjusted the music and temperature to our preferences, which made the whole experience feel relaxed and personalized. We were originally planning to visit four wedding venues, but Danny went above and beyond -- thanks to his insider local knowledge and great suggestions, we ended up touring TEN venues in one day. There's no way we could have pulled that off without him. At each stop, he dropped us off right on time, picked us up promptly, and even helped communicate with venue staff so everything ran smoothly. It really felt like he always had our backs. He also made an amazing last-minute lunch recommendation that turned out to be one of the highlights of the day. Danny got us home safely, and we're so grateful for how easy, fun, and seamless he made the entire experience. I truly cannot recommend him enough -- 10/10 would absolutely book again.
