RICK was completely professional, quick and friendly. I'm not sure how he can take all of the rude aggression he has to deal with on the daily. I really commend him for being such a great and patient guy. He handled rude customers with kindness. We had to stand there while another customer overreacted when we arrived. Rick tried to deescalate while remaining calm and respectful. Kudos to Rick!!! Ample parking. I don't the the area too well but it felt safe parking in a well lit parking spot. The hotel is huge. Do not expect a Ritz Carlton. We knew what we were paying for when we chose to stay here. We never bring valuables but we also did not experience the things that others complained about. The hotel was very clean. The pool was very large and clean. The rooms are gigantic. No elevator. Yes, the place is older. Don't expect a renovated upscale building. This is an older building that with clean bedsheets, spacious rooms and a place to rest your head for the night. Snack machine : everything (instant soup and candy) were $3. There is also a drink vending machine (soda and water). We loved the bed it was super firm. Not one you can jump on. Pillows were awesomely plump and comfortable. We had a great sleep. At check in, all adults staying overnight, must supply their ID. It is then scanned into their system. I suppose this is to hold all adults accountable for ruining their hotel and to stop customers from having hotel parties. The walls are thin. You can hear trucks if they are coming from behind the hotel. You can hear your neighbors walk down the hall to their rooms. Air comes in through the balcony. Bring and wear ear plugs to sleep Check out is at 11am. The area is super clean. The pool area and trees are immaculately cleaned and trees and grass trimmed. Very maintained. The balcony's are clean. The hallways feel eerie because they are long and empty. Bedrooms have linoleum/laminated wood which was nice and clean. We loved that our room and area did not smell like smoke. Some places say smoke free and you can smell smoke. We didn't not smell any smoke. Check out was easy and quick. Just walked up to the window, let him know our room and gave Rick the key and we were OUT. Room had a coffee machine, alarm clock, TV, hairdryer, clothing iron, fridge and lots of clothing drawers. Two chairs to sit and relax. TIPS: Don't bring valuables Bring ear plugs. The little middle eastern man who checks you in is RUDE. He has no business dealing with customer service. He refused to let us get a room because my dad booked the room under his card. After watching him disrespect many customers who walked in, I lost my patience. I'm glad it happened because the hotel is gross. Bugs all over, ran down, and bad customer service. He would not give me a supervisor or owners name to tell him about my experience, and when I asked the housekeepers for this information, none of them spoke any english or understood me. We were on the first floor and within the first hour we found cockroaches everywhere, at first there was one which we did overlook, however over time we kept seeing more and more all over the floor and furniture. Customer service. My daughter spent the evening here to be close to the freeway in order for her son to pick her & the 3 kids she was caring for. Pricing was ok, problem with this business, she was alone with the 3 kids, 2 were toddlers & she had to carry 2 large car seats. When I asked about this, the individual at the check in counter said he couldn't leave, however there was another individual in a glass enclosed area. The front desk counter individual said there was a cart, he could have stepped away from the counter since it was in the same area & assist her with placing the car seats onto the baggage cart. A male customer staying at the Inn volunteered to assist her with the car seats. The room didn't have a smart TV, nothing for small kids to watch & the most major problem, BED BUGS!. I've been traveling more than usual since my daughter started college in So Cal. My go to hotel was booked so we chose the Valley Inn, what a mistake. I've never walked into a place and I walked right back out, I did not feel safe. They put me in a room around the back and I was the only one back there and the entire front lot was empty. There is a security gate but it may be securing the semi's and cars that they're storing which is open to a yard of buses. I did not feel safe day or after dark, the door didn't have a bolt only the lock when the door closed. The room was not clean, weird smell and I sat at the end of the bed and it felt like something they put together, lumpy and hard. When I went to the front to cancel he then offered me a room inside, No thanks, he wasn't a bit concerned with my not safe comment. I called Expedia and got a refund. I would give a zero if possible, CATFISHED! Not enough parking. Not disabled friendly, with only a staircase and no elevator. The place was dirty and they didn't clean up the room well, leaving stains on all high contact services. Even the front desk was filthy. There were many stains, broken things and the sheets had stains. The walls were marked up, and the wallpaper was torn. The hallway floors were held together by tape. The place smelled of cigarette smoke even though there are no smoking signs posted everywhere. With a security guard on staff and proper cleaning the smell shouldn't have been that prevalent. The security guard seems to just sit in the lobby the whole time and not be monitoring anything. Specifically on the ground floor. While the upstairs rooms have balconies, the ground rooms have patios that are basically just the part of the outside premises, so virtually anything can crawl inside. This is simple...The staff was fine, nice and friendly. However, the location was less than average. Although this is not a 5-star location it could have been much cleaner and in better shape. The room had spider webs in corners of the room, the bath tub looked like it was 20 years old, the drawers as well as the cabinet drawers were hanging on for dear life. The mini fridge I don't think it worked since it was not plugged in. The location felt ok as far as the security and the key gate to gain entry to park but the room just felt shabby to me. read more

They lied about having a pet friendly room during the wildfires this year and didn't refund the $ I paid once I arrived with my cat and was told I couldn't stay there with him, even though they sent an email informing me the refund was on the way. The only complaint I have is that they require a $150 security deposit on top of the room payment. They also take cash with a $4 atm fee. However it is by a bunch of stores so it's in a great location. Also I love how big the room was compared to the others I've been to for about the same price. Also my biggest appreciation is that they let my party check in an hour early since they saw us just waiting there. A great 2pm check in time and an 11am check out. I'd def go back if it wasn't for that deposit. But least cash is given back right away. read more

To say our stay at this inn was terrible would be an understatement. First as we were checking in we noticed three different sheriffs vehicles roving the premises. It was an ill omen. Shortly after while waiting in an understaffed line you could hear a helicopter overhead. When we finally got to our room we noticed that the balcony light could not be turned off. The bed sloped. One of the pillows smelled sour.There were cigarette burned holes in the comforter. When we tried to shower in the morning we were greeted by dirty towels and a almost nonexistent draining shower. This place is a dump. We came here due to the couple of good reviews found on the booking site and for the fact that they had a pool as well as the proximity to Universal Studios. Big mistake. The pool was "closed" and the interior of this place is disgusting. Stained carpet in your rooms, dead bugs in the window ledges, flickering lights in the hallways and your room (can't you people change the bulbs?), exposed wiring in your room, wallpaper peeling off and no covers on the light fixtures. 4 people staying in the room, you get 3 towels and 1 washcloth. Ask for more, we don't have anymore. The carpet was sticky in some areas (wear shoes at all times) and stained all over. The original room offered to us was not secure. Was in town for one night that turned into two. Had two different rooms due to last minute changes to business in town. First nights room shower was a joke. The water at best was luke warm with almost no water pressure. The outside patio furniture had clearly not been cleaned or wiped down since the dawn of time. They could also be a little bit more generous with the amount of coffee they give you in the room. Second night was a not much better. There was no chair for the desk in the room. No coffee maker was in the room either. TV remote had no back so the batteries kept falling out. Same story with the patio furniture, dirty as could be. Bed sheets looked like they were decades old with what looked like old school shoe scuff marks. Both bathrooms could clearly use some fresh paint and small repairs. For the price of each room I have to say there was not real bang for the buck. Come on Man---ya'all can do better. read more

I booked this room through Orbitz as a package deal. Since our trip was last minute, airfare was high and I had to skimp on hotel and car. This was the cheapest that was available. If you're looking for the Ritz, this isn't it, but for a fairly inexpensive price, this was fine for us. We just wanted a place to shower, sh*t, and sleep. I forgot to take more photos and please excuse our items in the photos I did take. We stayed in rm 136. It was part of the main building. There was plenty of parking. If there was none in the front, there was parking in the gated area. We landed at LAX around 9 am. Soon after, we received a text that our room was confirmed and that they would see us soon. I replied for the confirmed check-in time and was promptly answered (2 pm was the earliest). When we arrived we were greeted and checked in quickly without any issues. The rooms all had "No smoking" signs on them but you could smell cigarettes. It was pretty strong in our room when we opened the door. We could tell from the darkened ceiling that it had at least been a smoking room at some point. I think either people are still smoking in their rooms or that they don't go all the way out of the huge sliding glass door. Our room was clean and a decent size. A bit dated, but again, this was an affordable place to stay. There was a table/desk and a fairly "clean" (no questionable wet spot stains!) office chair for me to work from. Plenty of space to move around in. I think there used to be accent chairs which would have been nice to sit on instead of the bed, but no biggie. They probably did have questionable wet spot stains on them and had to be discarded..fine by me! A LOT of outlets, (I guess I didn't need to bring my power strip). Good light switches - never had to search for them and the ones by the bed were dimmers. Beyond the 3/4 wall by the front door, there was counter space with coffee maker and all the items you would need for it, a mini-fridge that took a while to chill my bottled drinks but didn't keep my ice cream, an armoire for hanging clothes (and an iron & board), and the bathroom. The bathroom was a decent size. Good counter space in there, too. Clean. The only gripe I had was the stupid cloth shower curtain that is common in most hotels that blow inward and stick to you while you're trying to shower. I guess they use these since they can be laundered. Anyhow, the rod is placed so far into the shower that it narrows it and we're not tiny people. We ended up leaving the back half of the shower uncovered by the curtain and using that space to lather in out of the water spray. I was impressed that we always saw people fixing things & cleaning. The pool was closed for the season but still saw them cleaning it. The fence around the pool was being repaired, hallways being vacuumed, rooms being cleaned even late in the evening depending on when people left. It was nice to see all the bedding and towels taken out of the rooms. Not something I see all the time...which is scary :O Breakfast is all carbs. If you're staying more than a couple of days, grab some protein at a nearby store (there's a microwave). The Dollar Store is next door (not across the busy street). We went there for some Clorox wipes, a bigger coffee cup, fabric spray (smoke smell), and junk food. Breakfast and coffee were always being refilled and counters wiped constantly. PLEASE, remember that this is NOT your house! Butter, cream cheese, jelly, etc, are all single packages. Take your stuff and GTFO! Other people would like to grab stuff, too! Don't lay 5 plates of your stuff ALL over the place and stand there putting butter on 20 waffles!! Tables are available to eat at in the lobby. Snack & drink vendor machines, too. There was a nice security guard that greeted us every night. The "Do Not Disturb" sign was on our door the whole time we were there. We cleaned up after ourselves, even emptied the trash once, laid our towels in a stack when we left and made the bed (as we do at home). We left a "Thank You" note and a tip. There was some commotion in the room next to us and the one after that. I think both were "living" there. One got kicked out. That room was stripped. Beds were outside while they cleaned. You could smell the bleach. We received a text the 2nd day asking if we needed anything and another at the end of our stay asking how everything was. What an absolute sh**Hole this was. Jesus Christ. So we booked a room here for a 1 night stay for business and i will now describe to you the horrors of room #206. So we approach the Valley Inn at about 9PM to check in, immediately the mood is set to sketchy. Various people are sitting in their cars outside on the lookout for god knows what. We make our way to the reception desk, we see a elder security guard sitting in a chair with about 30 ft of an extension court across the entire "reception" area. Entirely entranced by what he was watching on his phone. Clearly doing his best to hide from the evils that go on in this place. We find our selves now at the check in desk, the clerk checks us in behind whatlooks like bullet proof glass (another good sign). He confirms with us about 6 times that it is a non smoking room. Then tells us again that it is a non smoking room. As we travel up the stairs, we see a sign that says something like "These premises are being recorded to document any illegal activities" along with a security camera (also another good sign) So we travel down the hallway and there is an overwhelming smell of weed, it was like snoop dog and willy nelson were attending a cypress hill concert. We hastily escape down the hall way to room #206. We use our electronic key and the door clicks open. Right at that moment we are assaulted by what can only be described as a "hot poop smell" . This is not an exaggeration. Literally smelled of poop. The room temperature was about 10-15*F higher than the ambient outside air. As we struggle to quickly turn on the lights to see what other horrors await our senses. I rushed over to the thermostat to check the temperature, the heater is on and set to 85*F. The good news is that they hung a "Black ice" Little tree car air freshener from the thermostat. But i will assure you the efforts of the little tree were in vain. The hot poop smell was over whelming. Up closer inspection to the accommodations we noticed that the black office chair in the room was absolutely covered in what i can safely assume is semen. What the actual F***. I then turned my eye to the bedding, There were multiple cigarette burns on the comforter and carpet. As i sat on the bed i wondered what else i would find. In this moment of weakness i turned to the light of the lord and looked at the night stand between the 2 beds. On the bottom level i noticed some gang tagging, and went to open the drawer in search of a bible in hopes that the lord could shield me from the abomination of a hotel room i had booked. But imagine my shock when there was no bible to be found. Only about 100 cigarette burns on the inside of the night stand that someone had decided to use as an ash tray. I hung me head in despair and pondered what chain of decisions i had made in my life that lead me down this path. How did i end up in this place? God has forsaken this place. How does this urban hellscape exist? My eyes then focused on the skirting of the bed and surprise surprise, there was an enormous amount of semen stains, as well as some sort of white mold on the carpet. At this point we decided that there is no way we can sleep here. Not a chance. We run out of the room, and head downstairs to check out. The braver member of our traveling party instructs us to go to the car, she would stay behind to try and check us out, and advised us that if she didnt meet at the car in 5 minutes, to go on without her. As we run to our car, we noticed a slender gentleman around the age of 30-40 open up his sliding glass patio door on the lower floor infront of our parking space. To my dismay he has a phone in one hand and he p**** in the other and is masterbating with his hand in his pants. He has a blank robotic 100 mile stare, His eyes are wide he is clearly on some sort of drugs. As he lowers his cellphone, i comment to my associate, I bet he is on the phone with a lady of the night. No sooner than i finished that sentence a very obvious prostitute pulls into a parking space near our car and is on the phone as well. $120/night read more
