Not a bad place but a few areas for improvements. This is a reasonably priced hotel. You have to expect that when you book. It is located in an area of California where hotel prices are quite a bit higher. If you need a ace to lay your head on a decent pillow after a long day, this is it. SureStay is next door to the DMV. It is in an area of town where there are plenty of other hotels. Finding a bite to eat is easy as there are several restaurants to choose near the hotel. The hotel is nice on the outside. No complaints there. The front lobby has plenty of seating and complementary coffee, tea and hot water all day. The business office is clean and there are printers. I did have some problems with the computers and printers. The rooms are standard sized for a king size bed, desk, TV, microwave and refrigerator. The bed is not a luxury model but it isn't lumpy. I have chronic back problems and I did not wake up with a sore back. That says a lot. The bathroom has standard linens, soap and shampoo. Shower head is high enough that you don't have to limbo to get your hair wet. Tile grout is clean and shower rod is secured. Mechanically sound! For me, this was a good business choice. I always appreciate a complimentary breakfast. This is not that place. It is basic but, for the price, it is worth it. read more

I used the hotels.com app to book this room. The hotel smelled horrible walking thru the front door. Migrant workers were wandering all around the property. The room was dirty. I found 3 hairs on my bed when I turned down the sheets. There was an empty water bottle under the desk, and a pincher bug climbing up the wall next to the sink. I called the front desk to ask for another room, but decided to leave the hotel. There were too many issues here. read more

STAY AWAY FRIM THIS PLACE! Customer service is bad but worst the hallways are filled with people drinking and hanging out. Went to my room and it was still occupied. Update...There was nobody in our room but I would still rate this a zero. Nothing against the migrant workers as they need a place to stay but they do crowd the hallways and leave their doors open. The employee who works the desk at night is the worst. Definitely not worth the price we paid. Better off staying at Motel 6 which is next door. read more

Don't be fooled by the pictures online or the lobby. The lobby smelled very clean and after seeing online pictures and some reviews I decided to stay here- not the cheapest or the most expensive in town. I should have saved my money and stayed at Motel 6 I'm sure it would have been nicer and cleaner than this. Had I not been exhausted I would have left. I had to sleep in my clothes and felt grossed out and uncomfortable the whole time there. To top it off the cable and internet was terrible. It kept going in and out. I'm amazed at the condition of this room especially after "all the extra cleaning" and precautions they are taking due to Covid. Please see photos of how room 305 is. read more

Not sure why this Best Western-affiliated hotel received all the negative reviews about dirty rooms, strangers in the hallways, etc. On a recent November last-minute stay here, I found the facilities and room clean, the place quiet and feeling safe, and the hot breakfast adequate. It's also located along a major road in Lompoc, convenient to eateries, etc. However, the customer service and/or IT infrastructure were poor, partly due to an apparent Best Western computer/server disruption that resulted in a missing reservation, staff's changing the story about why the reservation could not be found, and then staff's claiming that a Best Western rewards membership could not be located on their system even with full name, address, and email provided (resulting in non-member rates ultimately being charged to a member). This Best Western hotel chain can prevent further damage to its brand by improving operations or its IT infrastructure here. read more

This is a nice place to stay for a night or two. The room is a little smaller than the other places I've been to in recent days, but it is clean for the most part. Walking into the room I caught the scent of the shower curtains which didn't have a chance to dry properly so they had that moldy scent that happens when clothing comes out of the dryer still damp, and aren't allowed to completely dry. The towels also smelled like they were mixed in with the kitchen linens during washing. They didn't have that bleach scent that assures you they were sanitized, rather they had a slight scent of kitchen grease. They appeared clean though. The continental breakfast was decent, they have a little of everything but the breakfast room was a little cramped, so we sat by the pool. Overall quiet, was able to get a good nights sleep. The bed was comfortable. Parking was free, no problem finding any even though we arrived pretty late. Free wifi. Elevators worked. No bugs. read more

Over all this property is "ok"... but a couple things need to be addressed. 1- we found a vial of medication in the iron holder. Looking up what the vial is, we discover its for oral surgery. However it is also had uses as a possible "date rape" drug. I'm going with the latter as I can't imagine anyone having dental surgery in the room. 2- there is a shower cap placed over the smoke detector. Gawd knows what they were smokin in that room. 3- the mattress was old and sagging in the middle. With a sheet and a blanket... that's it. 4- the spa water was grey. I'm a commercial pool technician by trade so I know what under chlorinated water looks like. Only one of the jets worked also. The pool signs were old, damaged, and out dated. Overall this property gets heavy use and it shows. It needs some updates badly. It also needs the cleaning staff to be more thorough. read more

Great stay at this hotel. Very professional and friendly personnel here. Check in was easy and fast. When I mentioned that the kids may like to swim in the pool she found us a room close to the pool but not right against the elevator to minimize any noise. The room was clean, with clean linen and towels. Water pressure good and hot water excellent. Shower drainage excellent. Toilet was a bit small but worked fine. I suppose it was the perfect size for our 5 and 11 yo girls. Furniture was a bit dated but all functional. The window unit AC was old and worked but seemed to struggle a bit. Perhaps the highlight was breakfast. Plenty of nice hot food with a variety of selections... delicious biscuits and gravy (really good!), along with waffles, eggs, sausage, and all of the normal cereals, etc. The juices were full strength and not watered down!! Excellent coffee. The employee serving that area was a ball of fire... almost running the whole time replenishing everything. Nothing ever ran out because of her diligence. She was amazing. I didn't catch her name (bc she moved so fast her name tag was a blur)... but my wife thought it may have been something like Tae Sun (pronounced Soon?). Wow, she deserves a bonus! And the price for the night was good, only $162. That meal would have cost our family of 4 at least ~$35 or more at IHOP, etc. I would have given this place 5 stars but for my wife's comments on the older style accommodations. But everything worked and was clean so I'm like, what does it matter... so I lowered to 4 stars as a compromise. We are heading up to Portland from here and have most of our hotels booked with SureStay / Best Western. This is our first stop and I'm hoping the future SureStay hotels are as nice. Too bad negative stars are not an option. The receptionist told me I can "leave a review," as she giggled listening to our complaints. So here we are laying in our bed trying to muster the energy to just leave and find a different place. Nothing works, the pool, the employees, the tv, literally. They have questionable individuals (for lack of a better term) sitting on the ground at the entrances to doors and elevators making everyone uncomfortable. We were 3 families and had 3 rooms. All the bathrooms had difficulty for the shower knobs. Our bathroom had a broken door, broken towel hanger and peeled wallpaper. The hotel room and bathroom is not at all to the Best Western Plus standard compared to the other Best Western Plus hotels we have stayed at earlier. We don't like to complain as we were only there for 1 night but the important thing is when I mentioned it to the reception staff at night and showed her the video, she started blaming our kids for the damage and did not even response for our concern. At the time of checkout, I mentioned the same thing to other reception staff, He even did not response and asked me to email the manager for any concern who was not available at that time. I hope they address this to their staff and train them well on how to behave to the customer. read more

My wife used Booking.com to get the reservation. The site said there was a free continental breakfast. What we GOT, however, was brown bag grab and go breakfast with a danish type pastry they probably got a million of at Costco or Sam's for $10. They gave an apple in each bag. None (of the 3 bags we got) were fresh apples and one of them had a huge dark spot on it. To the room now. We expected clean, and we got it. We also knew about the queen sized bed. What we didn't expect was the springy mattress. Whenever one of us sat on one side of the bed the other was nearly pitched off the other side. Especially problematic when one of us needed to get up in the middle of the night to use the restroom. The restroom was alright. So.. the good, convenience and price. The bad, darn near everything else. I doubt we will use this hotel in the future. read more

Never was notified and because the reservation was done through a third party, it was not their problem. The receptionist could care less in the situation I was put in. I've stayed all over the country and this place wins the trophy for shittiest place. I have stayed many times at best western and always had good experiences so I was extremely disappointed. The rooms are horrible, the walls are paper thin, the beds are a joke might as well sleep on the floor cause they bought the couch from the same circus. Looks good on the outside, but on the inside is different story. We told the front desk about the WIFI was not working multiple times and they said they would reboot, but the WIFI never worked. The fan in the bathroom never cleared the steam and the bathroom stayed hot all weekend (and no the heat lamp was not on). The bathroom door was broken (holes in the door). Locals must stay away! I booked 2 nights several days in advance. My house flooded and work was being done all weekend and need a place to stay. When I went in to get my room I was discriminated on. They said all locals weren't allowed because they are "drug dealers and party animals". The front desk exact words. I have never felt so low and just wanted to crawl in a hole and kill myself because I was seen as such a bad person. There was no sign saying "No Locals Allowed" or nothing on booking dot c o m. I can't believe how bad the world has gotten. I drove to Anderson and got a room asking if local were allowed and they looked at me funny and smiled. They got me a room with no problems. People crammed into rooms, sleeping in the hall, running around all night, going to the bathroom in the staircase. I had to barricade my door with a chair. The room sucked. Friendly staff and decent rooms. However, the cons far outweigh the positives. The bed in the hotel is probably one of the most uncomfortable beds I have ever attempted to sleep in. After 5 days, I am finally home and excited to get a good nights rest. Additionally, the WIFI is reminiscent of early nineties dial-up. I booked this hotel for a work trip, drive 5 hours. my license had an address from another city 30 mins away, where I USED to live. The staff person there (woman with long dyed blond hair, about 5'4")told me that they don't accept locals. I thought she was joking at first, but she was dead serious. I got a vibe that she was messing with me though. she said "it's policy, not my policy. get the refund from your booking place" I showed her mail with my new address and a date, still no. Okay, so annoying, but I got another hotel room. Fast forward to me trying to get my refund: after multiple efforts to chat and call hotels.com, i FINALLY spoke to a human. They called the hotel and were told that that the stay was recorded as a no show. Total bullshit. I am still waiting on my refund because the woman there probably decided to pocket my room fee. I was so happy I booked a room here. The staff was so friendly and thoughtful. They were very professional and caring! the room was very nice!!!! They even let us check in early because a room was ready. They have a happy hour where they serve beer, popcorn, pretzels, and more from 5-7. They have a breakfast, but we had to leave early so we missed it. The room was very comfortable. It might be worth it to pay a little more for a bigger room. We had a queen bed room that was very reasonable! There was coffee available for 24 hours, very thoughtful! I will look forward to coming to this hotel again. Do not stay here! They have the worst customer service ever and the rooms are not clean! The carpets are dirty which will require you to always wear something over your feet to avoid fungus. The furniture is old and stained and every room has an odor. My experience here got even worse when I caught the housekeeper dipping a sponge into the toilet in which she used it to clean the bathtub!! Awful. The wifi sucks; like 90's dial up, it just keeps dropping and takes forever to load anything - if it loads AT ALL. The carpet is disgusting and obviously has never seen any kind of carpet cleaner in the (guessing from level of uncleanliness) 900 years it's been here. The arms on the couch are literally blackened from people rubbing their dirty hands and god knows what else there, and there's a burn mark in one of the arms of the couch - probably from someone smoking in the room. Maybe that's why the room smelled so awful when I got there? The bed is uncomfortable and sunken in in weird spots, with loud creaky springs that stab into my back... Honestly, I used to speak very highly of Best Western as a whole. I recommended BW to all my friends, family, and coworkers. But this place has changed my mind permanently. I will never again recommend Best Western to anyone. This place is just disgusting, and that crappy wifi... Good lord. Not worth it. At all. Find somewhere else to stay. Anywhere. Hell, a cardboard box on the side of the road would be better than this hovel, and you might even actually get some kind of internet connection in that box, as opposed to this sorry excuse for a Best Western. read more
