I have now brought my car back 3 times. I have told them EACH TIME what the issue is, they have not once, listened, or even come close to doing their job properly. They have now charged $4000+ for various things, and HAVE STILL NOT FIXED WHAT I ASKED THEM TO FIX. They either argue, and pretend they know better, or ignore me completely. If they know better, then why is the issue still not fixed? I have ran the problem through every AI and got the same answer, I've talked to 17 mechanics, all agreed that the issue was what I told them. But these scammers, refuse to do their job. On top of that, I dropped it off with a full tank of gas, took them over a month to get it back to me, and the gas tank was empty? There's no explanation for a full tank of gas to be gone, with them just doing test drives or starting it to idle, they clearly did something else that used a full tank of gas, in a car that's extremely fuel efficient. My 2011 Audi A5 needed to have the front control arms replaced. I had read good things about these guys so decided to stop in to see whether they'd be willing to do this repair. I'd gotten an extremely high quote from another Ashland mechanic and was considering doing the work myself. Valley View Auto Repair quoted a very fair - and much lower than the other outfit - price and were able to do the work the next day. When I picked up the car, the bill was less than they had quoted me, as the scope of needed work was less. And the car is perfect again! I really believe these are some honest mechanics that want to do right by their customers. I will be back next time something goes wrong with one of my cars. read more

Our Honda Fit was making some awful noises after a 10 hour drive from LA . BTW: I went in for a warranty oil leak and came out with a rough running engine and multiple neon lights on my dash that I have never seen before: an engine light, a VSA light and another light signaling some kind of engine trouble *no bueno* I got a 2nd opinion from A DIFFERENT Local Shop: They took their time doing an in depth diagnostic for $60; I'm glad I followed my gut feeling. I ended up replacing a single fuel injector that was stuck open. The fix seems to be unrelated to the original oil leak, but more of a coincidence instead. I ended up with a $500 fix INSTEAD OF A $3,000 fix that this place insisted I needed to do, or my car engine was going to blow (their words, not mine). Please note: I fully understand that automotive mechanics is NOT an exact science; I get this. Trial and error happens, I would hope that a locally owned business would focus a little more on diagnostics rather than quoting a BIG engine job ($$$$) based on 1st glance or perhaps what anyone could do free (get a diagnostic computer code from the local car parts store down the street - FREE of charge). I just don't like the idea that mechanics are learning and on my vehicle, on my dime. IF I WAS PASSING THROUGH ON HWY 5, I WOULD NOT STOP HERE FOR A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. read more

This has got to be the worst business I have had to deal with. Several months ago I had my 2011 GMC Sierra towed there to have the new computer flashed as I was told they could do it. It indeed ran when I picked it up however several months later I had renew the registration. I took it to DEQ where I was denied pass as my Vin# would not pull up in the DEQ computer. Valley View wrote my program incorrect on my new computer so I had to take it back to them. A simple 2hr job and my truck that I use daily for work sat for over 3 weeks with 1000 excuses as to why it couldn't be done. I got sick of waiting and whent back and was told my computer was used and defected when I brought it in...what??? So a few days before my warranty expired on the new computer I exchanged it for a brand new one once again to have them re flash it, where it sat some more. It took me taking another truck, rented flat bed to tow it to the local dealer ship where it was done in just a few days. I had to pay several hundred dollars to the dealer ship not to mention the money I paid to Valley View to have the it done the first time. Out almost $1,000 and being without my truck for over a month set my family in a financial chrisis where I am still struggling due to work I had to turn away not having my truck. Vince denied any help in paying for the whole cost saying "I had no money into it". B. S I paid that shop the original quoted price to flash the computer as it was done wrong by his shade tree mechanics. If it was done correctly it would not have cost me several thousand in lost wages and several hundred to the dealer ship where it was done the way it was supposed to have been done. Valley View created a major hardship in my personal life where I am still trying to recover and they claim no financial responsibility. I will never even so much to even needing air in a tire will ever have them touch another one of our vehicles..very bad business and lack of effort inin any to taking ownership in customer trauma or involvement to doing a shitty service. read more

Our 2018 CRV wouldn't start on Sunday when we're driving through Ashland. We could also smell something like rotten eggs coming from the engine after driving from Portland. We feared the worst, and no place was open because it's Sunday. The hotel clerk recommended this place. It's a 76 fuel station with a full service mechanic team. We managed to jump the car and drove over first thing in the morning. They immediately diagnosed it as a dead battery and replaced it super quick. They understood we were travelers and they would do everything they could to get us back on the ride. They even offered us a shuttle if we needed it. He told us to bring it in and he'd plug in to check the engine code. Ended up being a glow plug, which we can have done any time. Got us back on our travels up the Oregon coast. Perhaps from time to time people have bad experiences here. But people are human and people make mistakes. Need a reliable mechanic that's local, Valley View Auto Repair is your place to go. They are actually a auto repair shop with a 76 filling station. They do it all. Just took our 2005 diesel 350 truck in for diagnostics. Engine was missing, I knew I had one bad fuel injector. Sure enough, that was the problem. The mechanic went over my options; fix one injector knowing eventually the others will need repair or fix all and be good for years. The truck has been maintained by them, they know it. After researching option: sell farm truck and spend $$$ on another truck or repair farm truck- I had all injectors replaced, costly but not as costly as repairing them one by one. I was happy with my decision and their work. I had my truck back in three days. They are honest, fair, and do good work. They have an oil change deal you can't pass up! Check them out! read more

So I had a nail in my tire that was irreparable while on a road trip. I drove on it for about 50 miles at this point and knew it was going to break on me so I found this shop and thank goodness he was open!!! I originally was only going to ask if he had air I could use to put in my deflating tire but then saw he had tools to change a tire so even tho he was busy working on a car when I arrived, he stopped and helped me change my spare tire. Travelling from Las Vegas, NV and after passing through the Siskiyou Mtn Range, I pulled into the Rest Area and saw my Driver Side Axle had broken apart. My vehicle was un-drivable. I was towed to Valley View Auto Repair and spoke with Vince who is the manager of the shop. I explained that I am travelling and with limited funds to pay for a room to stay the night, I would like to get on the road ASAP. His mechanic estimated the damage and provided the estimate. With limited funds, I requested two separate quotes one for immediate repairs and the other for the full cost to repair both axles. His team was even able to email the quotes to my Accountant, as my phone had died. Within 30min, the parts were ordered and the mechanic went right to work breaking down the car before the parts even arrived. I was expecting to be on the road by that evening, but the mechanic had the job completed within a few hours and I was on the road with tons of daylight left for my drive. They had a warm heater and FREE coffee while I waited. And the staff was really chill people to hang out with. They were also able to recommend other items in order of importance that needed to be repaired. They didnt b.s. me in order to make money; they simply did what I asked and put me back on the road SAFELY. My entire family is thankful for Valley View because I arrived back home that same day. read more

Dropped off at this location at 3 a.m. by tow truck with a recommendation. Upper radiator hose busted headed south on 5. 8 a.m. comes around and I know all that needs to be replaced is the hose and a fill up on radiator fluid but these guys try and scam 2 women from CA out of a two day $2400.00 head gasket repair. I dont think so bud, I'm no dummy and I know cars well enough to know this is a 30 min quick fix. Nice try, I would not recommend them for emergency services. They were definitely trying to take advantage. Probably serve the locals right, but as far as travelers, they'll leave you high and dry if you give them the chance. I will however recommend Dan Wolfe a local mechanic who gave me an honest opinion and an honest price. read more

Let me start by saying that I am very happy with Valley View Auto Repair, and I would absolutely take my car there again. There was a mix up with the ignition part they installed in my car. It's a long story and I'm not a mechanic so I probably won't get it right if I try to explain all of it. That said, the issue was confusing even for someone who works at a parts store and another friend of mine who is a car hobbyist. A short version is that my car in unusual in being able to have two different types of ignition parts in it that will both work. The part they used was more expensive (but also has more features), but it was going to be more expensive for me to get spare keys. So they accidentally upgraded my car. I was upset about the extra expenses. HOWEVER, I went back and explained the problem. Vince treated me very kindly and respectfully and gave me a refund. He told me that cars don't usually allow for two different parts/systems to work (I'm simplifying what he said and I know it was true, because I had already found this out from my friend). I thought he was more than fair in his treatment of the the issue. I would say he was generous. I used to do some repair work (not on cars) and I know that mix-ups happen. Nobody's perfect. What impressed me was that he wanted to make it right, and he did. Since I can trust him to deal with me honestly even after mix ups, I'll keep going there. In fact, I'd rather go there than someplace where I don't know how I might be treated if there is a mix-up. Vince is kind, respectful, and has integrity. I can recommend this shop. read more

Do not take your car here! I was given an estimate for 3000$!!! when my car overheated near their shop. They had a long list of all the things that were broken including my head gasket. They said my car might not be worth fixing and was worth 50$ at a junkyard. They also insulted me for taking such terrible care of my car. They were clearly trying to taken advantage of me as a stressed out woman with a car issue. This place is the definition of highway robbery. I took the car to another mechanic who fixed the water pump for 430$ and my car is great now. No further issues. Valley view did not even mention the water pump as the problem. Like so many other stories I have read on Yelp, I was travelling north through southern Oregon when my car broke down on the steep grade of the 5 freeway just south of Ashland. Called AAA and got towed to Valley View Auto Repair, where they were surprisingly open on a Sunday evening around 7pm. Rented a hotel for the night in Ashland and called the shop in the morning to find out they had diagnosed the issue and it would be a simple resolution. Two hours later and $91 total, I was back on the road headed north towards Seattle! They even had a free shuttle service pick me up at my hotel. I was completely impressed at the professionalism and integrity of this shop and I highly recommend to anyone travelling through the area, if you need car repairs, they are trustworthy and affordable. Really wanted to use a local mechanic but these guys are either incompetent or just crooks, hard to tell. Had to redo break work and then when brought in again they suggested the original work be done (the compromise was we paid for parts the second time). Charged us $1000 telling us an oil leak required a new axel. A real mechanic took three minutes to tell us the real problem. Save yourself the time and money and go anywhere else. read more

Last night we left La Quinta about 5:15, heading into town. Our plan was to stake out a place on the brick wall to watch the Green Show, a collaboration between the Portland Cello Project and Adam Matta. This year we have Nina's car, a 2006 Camry. As she backed it up we heard a scraping sound and as she started to drive away the scraping continued. We stopped to check out was what was going on. She looked and then motioned to me to come look. Hanging down was a piece of plastic that belonged under the car. We were on the road beside the 76 gas station. As we discussed what to do, Curt, a mechanic at Valley View Auto Repair, called out to us, asking what was wrong. We told him we weren't sure. He left the car he was working on (who works at 5:115 on a Sunday?) and came over to take a look. He and his colleagues agreed it was pretty simple to fix and happens all the time. They were very sweet and reassuring. Curt asked Nina where the car had been parked and walked over there to find a couple of parts that were missing, clips to hold the thing in place. He found them, but one was broken, so he went into the shop and got another. He moved the car he was working on off the lift and put Nina's onto it. In just a few minutes he had returned the dangling piece to its proper place. He lowered the lift, drove Nina's car off it, said "Merry Christmas" and started to walk away. Nina insisted he take *something*. We made it to town, staked out our place, had dinner and enjoyed the concert before seeing "Don Quixote" in the outdoor theatre. This review is solely for their gasoline station. They have a 76 gas station. The address is the same as what's stated on my receipt. The price for the Unleaded gas was so high! I did not notice until the attendant was right outside my window. So, I just had him fill it up. Thought I was being smart by filling up here before heading back into California. I was wrong. I paid $4.39 for regular unleaded. So, I would not come here for gasoline again. From reading the other reviews, I'd come here to have my car fixed in an emergency. YOU DECIDE.... My 2004 Mini started having problems shifting into and out of all gears. Valley View bled the slave cylinder & repaired return spring. Found Valley View on Yelp, called them and told them of my problem asked if they could help. Mechanic was polite and seemed to know about repairs of this kind for a Mini. They were great about getting me in quickly and provided a ride for me home in a nice mini van. The problem is: My car drove exactly the same as when I left it. and it cost me $244.00. They recomended a $2,151.57 clutch replacement repair. Towed the car to my (94 miles) mechanic He fixed it for under $1,000 saving me over $1,000. Valley View good or bad you decide. read more

Wow!! So helpful!! The AAA guy that jumped my car recommended Valley View because they are certified AAA and open 7 days a week, which more than most anything in Ashland. Greg was very helpful and assured me he would what ever he could to help me out with the least out of pocket cost for me. I have been having battery problems for a while now. They solved my battery drainage issue, which was a light in my truck. Unplugging the light at no cost! And they installed a new battery, the most recent battery I had was still under warranty. So they replaced that, at no cost. And they cleaned out my battery area where it was corroded--- AT NO COST!!! They have a wonderful shuttle service that drove me home while I was waiting for my car! Greg did a great job of fixing it up and called me with updates! I paid NOTHING for a battery switch and them solving my drainage issue and the ride home!! Thank you so much Valley View Auto Clinic! It is actually Todd G's review that you should ignore. As everyone else stated - Valley View got me in way quicker than anywhere else in town. They have a large shop and can accommodate most needs. The driver dropped me off for free at my house when my car needed a new clutch. Got it back quickly and it's shifting great! They also provided me with some additional paperwork (for free with no pressure at all) about possibly needing a cap + rotor. My car also needs a catalytic converter. It's an old car and needed quite a bit of work. I have gladly rescheduled that work to be done with Valley View. They said I can bring it in tomorrow and they'll have it ready on Saturday. They are always friendly with me and a few of my acquaintances have similarly had good experiences at Valley View. At this point it is my go-to mechanic spot in Ashland. Thanks you guys! read more

I HIGHLY recommend Valley View Auto Repair (the garage associated with the 76 next to the La Quinta at Exit 19 in Ashland). I personally recommend Myles as an AWESOME technician. My car started acting up on a long trip with no clear reason, and Myles spent many hours trying to diagnose the problem. Turns out a part of my car that wasn't supposed to break wound up breaking, and Myles figured it out. His explanation was very logical and he was very honest and upfront about what was wrong. While it cost a few hundred dollars to fix, I had no qualms about forking over the money. j Not to mention while my car was getting fixed they offered a FREE shuttle into Ashland.
