There are new antiques every time I visit, some of which were donated by descendants of the original home owners. The house is always decked out, but it is especially fun to see during the holidays. You can tell a lot of thought, time and money went into restoring this magnificent 7,000 square foot home to its former grandeur. I will definitely go back to visit, even if only to get away from the city lights and mentally recharge in the quiet country atmosphere.

We have stayed in agglomeration cabins and rental homes over the years and really appreciate those that go above and beyond- these did not. Having a list of things to do around the city, which is very small, would have been nice. Or the option of renting a fishing pole, maybe even a loaner that were could check out for the day would have been nice. We are not fishing people, we have never been so offering that would be nice. The is a place to have a fire bur no wood, again it would be nice if that was something included. Overall, the cabin was just that- a place to stay to sleep. Not much else in regards to activities. If I were to make a suggestion: 1. Have fishing rods (cheap, crappy ones) that guests could borrow 2. List of family fun activities close by 3. List of good places to eat 4. The proprietor met us on the little road heading down (while she was feeding the chickens, with a longhorn standing ominously behind her). Then - a huge fireplace with burning logs to welcome us in. We arrived late afternoon and just took a brief walk around the grounds on a few of the many trails. The Prayer chapel has a custom made cross with a stained glass dragonfly. The serenity of the scenic landscape is really something. This would be a perfect getaway for a group or spiritual retreat. Truly an amazing feeling - like you've just come home! Countless times the wife and I have passed through Glen Rose wanting to stay and visit. We finally…read moremade the time this past weekend and luckily there was availability at Inn on the River. Pam and Scott are excellent hosts and will make your stay enjoyable. The Inn is a historic building and as such has a lot of charm, the grounds are well kept with the back of the property bordering the Paluxy river. Also at the back of the property overlooking the Paluxy is Snyder's Tavern where lunch, dinner and drinks are served. In the morning you'll get to enjoy breakfast in the dining room which is included in the cost of your stay. One thing to note is that the rooms do not feature TV's which was not a big deal to us. A comfortable bed and private bathroom should be mentioned. We enjoyed our stay and look forward to returning.
