I had problem with my Toyota car, signal turning lights not turn on when I turn left or right, took it to the dealer, told me fuse, they change it after waiting hours, charge me over $100, drove it for one day and it stop working again, took back told me you have to change the computer unit operating the signal light and it cost over $200, I did not take it back to them. I took it to Val's Auto, with a blink of thinking he open my staring wheel he found that when I turn my left or right it hit a loose wire that cause burning the fuse turning lights when I turn left or right. The best it cost less than $70, do not rush and take your car to anyone but take it to him first. Went to the dealer a told him that he was going to charge me to pay for part I do not need it. The guy put my CD in the car's CD player to make sure the CD player works. It get stuck part way when he tried to eject it and instead of carefully taking it out, he rushes and uses his pliers and damages my CD which has sentimental value for me. I let him know I am upset that he wasn't careful with trying to remove the CD from the CD player he was supposed to fix. He then begins speaking over me telling me my CD is fake and that is the reason why it was stuck. It is not fake and he did not need to be rude over something he damaged himself. He then proceeded to say it is broken anyway and tried to break the whole thing in half leaving the case completely destroyed and then throws the whole thing in the trash just because he is upset. He decided to break the whole thing instead of giving me back what is mine. I had to get the item back from the trash can. Is this how they're supposed to treat customers? He gets mad over something he broke and he proceeds to damage my property even more. read more

The owner is rude, sneaky. and dishonest,and the quality of job is horrible and sometimes they try to rip you off . doing unnecessary things. and charging you more.I changed my car,s oil a few weeks ago and the owner kept pushing to fix the brakes at the front ,but he was lying ,there was nothing wrong with the brakes because,I had it checked a week before at another place and they assured me that the brakes are in a good shape. I wish there was a way to give zero stars because that's what this auto shop deserves I recommend that nobody goes to vals auto the owner is an ass. he is extremely rude and unprofessional. i went into get car smog it failed to pass i got the car fixed by another shop that tested it before we took it back into get smog and it was passing, vals auto said that they would honor the car smog within 10 days we came back within the 10 days and he did not honor the smog check like he said, he basically rob me of my $30 and was extremely rude and disrespectful I would not recommend this shop for anything to anyone read more

Hands down the most HONEST auto shop ever. Val and his crew do a great job and they have really fair prices. I got a quote from the local dealer which included a "discounted rate". Easy! Stopped at the AAA nearby to register a car and they told me I needed a smog check. This place was about 100 feet away from the AAA and provided quick, fast smog check. Val was very kind and didn't even flinch when I said I only have credit card unlike a lot of other small car shops I've been to. Forget the negative reviews. How is it that the reviews are either all very good to excellent or terrible? Could it have something to do with the customers and their attitudes? If there is a really valid concern about honesty or fairness then the customer should report it to the proper authority. The information to do so is available at any ASE Certified shop. Also, you can always take your business elsewhere and leave more room for those who appreciate what a good efficiently run shop like this can offer. That siad: Rude - no, but they're getting almost too busy because this shop is fair, honest and usually quick. Been using them for the last three years on four different vehicles and not one bad experience with smog work or light repairs. While I may have been able to pay a bit less for a similar service somewhere else I've never been overcharged. There is value in good prompt work, and the convenience to my locale is worth quite a bit to me. It is very difficult to say this without sounding very un-PC, but there are cultural changes that have happened in Glendale (and surrounding cities) and some of the newer residents still need time to acclimate to the wonderful laid back give 'n take style of SoCal. Many come from regions where generosity and fairness seem to have been - um, in shorter supply. Language is sometimes an issue, so try to explain things simply and clearly, several times if necessary. Don't assume a "crisp" answer or misunderstanding is rudeness. It is more probably a simple cultural thing - or at least so I've found. As a resident here of 35 years it just takes a little bit of accommodation and patience. So, give a little and you'll get a lot in return. I have and I'm very grateful for it. read more

My Civic was having problems passing its smog test that no one could figure out. I took it to one place that charged $80 and said I'd have to pay another $80 to retest. Val's was way less expensive and had a 10 day grace period to retest if the car failed. He helped me figure out why it wasn't passing, and seriously, even Honda couldn't tell me what the problem was. read more

A while back i had car problems and was dreading going to my regular mechanic (low quality, higher prices and long wait times). A family member recommended Val's auto, i gave them a try and had a great experience, my car got fixed properly, at a reasonable amount of time and at a fair price. I took my 1999 Corolla to Val for evaluation on a quoted repair for rear struts of $750. Val looked at the problem, fixed it completely and comprehensively for much less. I know he is honest and skilled, and I would not hesitate recommending him. When it is time for front struts, he will be the one I will go to. desperately needed to get a smog check done so when I say the sign for $29.95 smog, I was SOLD! when I got there I was told that it would actually be $39.95 for my mid-90's civic. okay no biggie but then it was $8.95 for the smog certificate and an extra dollar or two for something. I'm not sure what that cost was for so in total I paid $50. I feel like the sign outside is misleading but I got my smog done. Val was extremely nice and we chatted for a bit. he's a great guy but I will be looking around for a cheaper place to get my next smog done in a couple years. read more
