About a week before Thanksgiving we found out we would need to relocate for a job from Astoria, Queens to the Mid-Hudson Valley. I turned to Yelp to find a mover, because I value the honest experiences which the regular users of this platform share, and after coming across Dejan's page, I gave him a call. Dejan was straight-forward about his pricing as well as his teams availability to help us move. It was a no-brainer to move forward with him. His team of 3 movers showed up on-time, and got to work immediately in assessing all of our belongings, what needed extra care and wrapping, and what can be loaded onto the truck already. (My fiance and I have had to move more than we'd like to, and had already packed up all small items/clothing/etc...). The team of movers were awesome. They were so friendly, noticed we were into hiking and talked with us about trips we've taken, as well as local trails we've hiked. They loaded all our things up, drove up to our new place, and immediately began to unload and move things into the rooms that we had labeled the boxes of, or where we asked them to. They set up our bed for us, put together pieces of furniture they had taken apart, and cleaned up after themselves. If we ever need to make a big move again, we will be reaching out to Value Movers. We also can't recommend them enough to friends and family in and around Astoria. Word of the wise: they do not accept personal checks. I do not say this lightly when I say this company is not just maliciously fraudulent in their pricing, but they are preying on military families and the needs of those who rely on their services. We had several phone calls with Isaiah and Michael where we went through our home and inventory, and received a quote of around $5600 to fully pack and move our belongings across the county. This included texts with our inventory and confirmation that our estimate was still accurate which we were assured it was. When the movers showed up to our house today, they were wholly unprepared, and expecting a very small amount of stuff to only move not pack, and then quoted us an estimated $15000 plus the charge to pack. We were forced to forfeit our $2900 deposit and when calling the company we were told we were childish, rude and there would be nothing they would do for us further. It went so far as to turn off the phone number or block us at the numbers we had previously reached Isaiah and Michael. We were sold an intentional lie, emphasizing that they are veteran owned, understood the military process and offered us several discounts. I rarely write a review so I implore you to believe this one. We have no choice but to pursue legal action hoping to recoup our costs. And we're quickly self packing our home to meet our PCS deadlines. I should have done my research as I've seen many complaints now with the better business bureau and negative reviews who faced the exact situation and I have certainly learned my lesson, but I'm truly crushed and have lost some faith in the goodness in people in that Isaiah, Michael, and this company could so willfully manipulate customers. Under no circumstances should you use this company. And oh by the way.. there is no public record indicating owner Victor Stanziale has ever served in the military.. so sprinkle some stolen valor on top while we are at it. If you like being overcharged for moving, these are the movers you should hire. I hired Value Movers and ended up paying for allegedly 3 movers to move my furniture from UES to West Harlem. This place is a total scam: 1. I was told that I would receive 3 movers (instead of 2 movers) at $135+ an hour. Well when they got here, 1 of the movers said he had to stand by the truck the entire time because the parking in front of my building is a no unloading zone. Thus, instead of simply asking me to stand by the truck, I was left with 2 movers. 2. The movers moved at glacial speed, taking at least 6-10 minutes between each trip up and down the stairs. There is no reason why it takes 6-10 minutes to take 1 lamp downstairs and come back upstairs to my apartment. 3. The movers took frequent breaks, often times it seemed like I only had 1 mover because 1 mover would stand downstairs and rest while the other mover would continue moving my things. I caught 1 mover sitting downstairs outside my apartment on his cell phone just delaying time, and I also saw the mover take a 5-10 minute smoke break. 4. The movers lacked the motivation and the urgency during the move in order to accumulate as many hours as possible. I ended up paying over $800 (tip included) to move across town and I only had enough furniture for maybe a studio apartment. I only had 2 large pieces of furniture - a love seat and a queen mattress and bed frame. 5. The movers were careless during the move. When they were moving my furniture into my new apartment, they often times slid pieces of furniture along the hardwood floor damaging both the hardwood floor and he furniture itself. Please do yourself a favor and do NOT hire these movers. If you're looking for movers who hustle, this is NOT the moving company for you. It should have been a warning to me when other moving companies were quoting a fixed price for the move, and these guys were quoting me a $185 hourly rate + 1 hour travel + materials consumed. But considering I was moving only a five minute drive from one part of Astoria to another, and that other companies quoted a 5 hour move max, I thought I would come out ahead with this company. WRONG! From the moment they showed up there was zero hustle. I'm assuming they had no other job booked after mine, so they thought they would milk my job for as long as they could. The job supervisor was the sole person responsible for wrapping the sectional couch. This time consuming task would have been better approached by having another mover help in this task. They took frequent smoke breaks. When i asked them to pick up the pace they looked at me like I was crazy. "I'm not paying you to take smoke breaks, time is money." Nearly 4 hours into the job, the truck was finally loaded. The unloading at the new apartment took another 3 hours. My gf and I even had to assist with the unloading and furniture set-up to speed this job up. Furthermore, a microwave was broken in this move, as well as several dishes. Used them for a short move from Astoria to Long Island City. Just a few tips for ppl looking into them The Bad: -the movers said tip had to be 18-25% for the job. When I scheduled with the company they said tip was not mandatory and there was no set amount. This is clearly not the case with by experience or the previous the recent reviews. If that's the standard amount why not just state that from the beginning? - they drop off tape and boxes. Do not use them BC they are ridiculously over priced. We got bins and didn't have to use their boxes - they use their own tape to wrap up your furniture and each small roll is about $5. It basically took them one full roll just for our night stand. Let's just say we spent a lot on tape The good - they're fast. It took three guys to pack up my one bedroom apartment - booking was easy - they sent all necessary insurance paper to my new building without us having to ask read more

i have to update this and say... A water jug full of change was left on the moving truck... took me about a month to notice. I called ( not to accuse anyone of stealing) but just hoping they had it. Dejan know what I was talking about, but unfortunately it was gone. Immediately asked how much I thought was in the jug. I said give or take $50. A week later I had a check for $50 in my mail. If you value your belongings - STAY AWAY from this company!!! Absolutely the WORST experience I have ever had with a moving company! I contacted Value Movers and arranged for 2 guys to come load my U-Haul truck. I lived in a tiny one bedroom and rented a 14 foot truck. Upon arrival, the guys advised the truck would not be big enough. I then proceed back to the U-Haul place and am forced to rent a trailer to tow as they did not have a larger truck. This created an additional cost of over $500.00 for my one-way rental. Back to the apartment I go and halfway through the loading process, the main guy advises "you can probably return the trailer because I THINK we will be able to get all your stuff in the truck." I declined. I had also asked for a clothes hamper and a small suitcase be loaded last as I needed to get to them and that a small space be left at the rear of either the truck or the trailer as I had to make an additional stop. NEITHER REQUEST WAS HONORED. I had to literally crawl over things to get to them. Nor was there any space left over for my additional things I had to pick up. When I got to my first stop in Rochester, I had to unload and repack almost a third of the truck because it was so haphazardly packed and things simply thrown in. It was then that I noticed a waist-high ceramic column had been destroyed as a result of their packing. I went on-line to place a testimonial and immediately was contacted by the owner whop initially seemed to want to help. He advised he would reimburse $60.00 for the shattered column and an hour's worth of time. Upon arriving at my destination, I emailed the owner to ask about some pillows that I could not locate and his demeanor immediately turned nasty and he began cursing at me. He further advised he would not, and I quote, "pay you a f*cking cent you f*cking little b*itch!" All of this because I questioned the guy's space management and had asked about the pillows. In addition, the movers did not utilize the moving blankets I rented and as a result, several pieces of my furniture, including my grandmother's table, were scratched and gouged. Needles to say, I do not expect him to honor his initial commitment to reimburse the cost of the column or the cost of one hour loading time as he promised. My experience with Value Movers started off so well - unfortunately, the positives pretty much came to a stop when we met the movers. While everyone was friendly to start, the experience was incredibly inefficient. The movers seemed interested in making the job take as long as possible in order to maximize the amount they could charge. We ended up asking them to leave at the end of the time we'd already agreed to pay them for and finishing the job ourselves. First, the positives - the movers arrived a few minutes before their scheduled arrival time, a pleasant surprise. They then worked with the building to determine where we needed to park our moving van and gave us tips on how not to get towed. (We were moving from out of town so we rented our own truck. We used Value Movers for move-in/ truck unloading only.) They were very friendly. In addition, when we asked them to do things differently they responded promptly. The real problem was how SLOW the move-in process was. This was partially due to the building - the elevators are extremely slow and there is not a designated moving elevator. However, Value Movers could have done a much better job working with the elevators. Its their job to move people in and out, they should know how to do it best. We asked them to start doing small things to speed up the process -leaving items in the hall so that I could carry them to the apartment myself. The movers responded to everything we asked them to do, but we shouldn't have to ask them to do basic things to help the move go faster. They ended up waiting a lot for the elevator which could have been avoided if they'd divided up the work better. Unfortunately, not being professional movers and not being able to see what they were doing in real-time, we were unable to tell them to speed up this part of the process. However, once Value Movers left, we were able to find a system that allowed us to spend very little time waiting for the elevators - something Value Movers should have known before they showed up. At the end of the day, they threw "we did everything you asked" back in our face. We shouldn't have to tell you to do your job in an expedient manner. I came down once and one of the movers was standing at the elevators, doing nothing. Another note - if you look at the reviews, nearly all of the positive reviews written in the last 2-3 years are from people with 0 or 1 other reviews. Most of the other reviews since ~2012 are as negative as this one. read more

I don't normally do non-restaurant reviews, but... Highly transparent with their costs (you get an email explaining everything), EXTREMELY accomodating (when my old building management company, who sucks in every way, demanded a letter of insurance with a 30 minute deadline, Jose took care of it IMMEDIATELY). They work fast and thorough to minimize the hourly rate, and they pack everything REAL well (unfortunately, an errant piece of grit caused a scratch in my table, but given how I watched them pack the table with blankets, tape it up, form cardboard around it, and tape it again, I can hardly blame them). Enormously pleasant people, doing a thorough and speedy job (move within Queens took 2 hours flat) at a cost that was MUCH more acceptable than their competitors. I've used Value Movers a couple of months ago for a move from Bronxville to Astoria. They did a great job! They showed up on time, wrapped and loaded all my stuff very carefully and everything was placed to the right position in my new apartment. Just a little more pricey than what I've expected ( they use a lot of protective blankets and tape), but they very professional and you don't have to worry about damages or anything else. They made our move fairly painless and as fast as they could.They wrapped everything very carefully, while being very efficient. After we got to the new place, they placed all the furniture at the right place unwrapped, re-assembled, and at the end they asked if we needed anything else. I moved from 3rd floor one bedroom apartment to first floor one bedroom apartment around the block. The initial quote is $185/hr minimum of 2 hours and additional 1 hour mandatory for the truck and travel time. They say that there is no hidden charges. But I end up paying $880 + $100 tip because they will make you feel like you really have to give them At least $20 each tip for doing their job. read more

They were great! They were courteous, friendly, quick and arrived on time and went right to work. It was the hottest day so far and that didn't seem to bother them. Thanks to the movers & company for an easy transition from one Astoria apartment to another. They assembled my furniture rather well (a little loose armrest on sofa but nothing I can't tighten). The only one small thing I didn't like was leaving my mattress outside of both apartments in front of other tenant doors and on dirty floor for a little longer than I would like. My girlfriend contacted the company and had great things to say about how the customer service did an excellent job at answering her questions and scheduling movers after a spot opened up. On the day of our move Value movers DID NOT actually come to do the moving. They used a 3rd party mover to do it. However those guys were great and everything went well. I called this company this morning asking for a quote to move my stuff from Brooklyn to California . I was asked how many bedrooms I said one but will not be taking the whole apartment just items which I was ready to give inventory. Less than 5 minutes on the phone the rep I spoke to said this company is not a good fit because they do exclusive moving. I am revising my previous review after corresponding with the owner. He has been very nice and accomodating, and has been great at reaching out to me. I really respect the way he has handled the situation, and I would use Value Movers again, although next time I will ask to pay a flat fee, and discuss the tip % upfront. *original review* I'm a bit confused by all of the great reviews on here as my experience was subpar. We made the big mistake of booking them hourly, and not a flat rate. Which means my 85 year old grandmother could move faster than they did. It took about 2 hours just to move a small 1 bedroom's worth of furniture to the truck outside. Then they damaged the walls to my new apartment, so now I have to repaint. They also had the nerve to threaten me over the amount of tip I wanted to give for their awful service and made me go get more money to give them. A move to an apartment 3 blocks away in Astoria should not cost $750. What a ripoff. read more

Had a one bedroom move involving a queen size bed, a large flat panel tv, a rather fragile glass table, rather big ass couch, lots of boxes, plus a lot of random other furniture. My move was from Queens to Brooklyn. They took tremendous care with the glass table, spent a good effort making sure it was not exposed and would not crack or break. They also made sure my wood furniture was well protected before making the move. Wrapped my couch up so the leather would not get damaged. When we got to brooklyn, they put it all back together for me. They even fixed a part of my bed that was not assembled correctly to begin with. The movers was friendly and conversational. Everything arrived as it had left, no damage to anything. read more

I hired Value Movers for my move today. My initial impression was positive. It was fairly easy to make the reservation, they provided insurance information to the building, and the movers arrived promptly. The movers themselves did a good job wrapping all of my belongings and loading the truck relatively quickly. However, they charge you $5 for each roll of tape they use, and use it more than LIBERALLY. This same tape (Lux) sells for just over a dollar online. My impression took a major turn when it took them an hour and a half to arrive at the next stop. It took my father just 30 minutes to travel the same route, leaving at the same time. When I called Dejan, the owner, he immediately got defensive saying "don't worry they're not robbing you." When I asked him why it was taking them so long he continued "I don't know, you'll have to call them" and "I'm not responsible for them." Since I had to be at work, I was checking the traffic at my desk and the LONGEST route between the two apartments had a 40 minute ride, no where near the 90 minutes it took. The owner was incredibly brash and chose to be argumentative and defensive rather than serving the customer and trying to find reasonable answers. When the movers finally arrived they told my father it took so long because they tried to avoid tolls. They thought it was a good idea to drive from Queens, though Manhattan at 9am on a weekday, to get to the Bronx. But as the owner said, they were "looking to save me money." I used Value Movers on 4/1/15 to move from Sunnyside to Greenpoint. The guys showed up 3 hours late, and leading up to that someone kept calling me saying that they were right around the corner, almost there. Yeah, right. They were supposed to get there around 2 or 3 pm and showed up at 6, and I'd purposely asked them to come early in the afternoon because a friend of mine had surprised me with impossible-to-get Bjork tickets as a present. But since the movers were so late, I wouldn't be able to make it to the show since I didn't have time to change my schedule around and absolutely needed to move that day. When I realized that I would miss the show, I started crying, and the main moving guy said to me, "Oh, look, we have a baby here, and she's crying." I'm sure Value Movers outsources their work to different people that don't always permanently work with them, so maybe these guys - they were 3 eastern European guys - don't even work with them anymore, but the fact is that they were grade A as*holes. Perhaps I just had an unfortunate experience, but it was my experience nonetheless, and, unfortunately, that reflects on your company. =( I mean, maybe I'll use you guys in the future if I call a bunch of people and no one else can make it at the time that I need, but considering what happened with me, I'll just have to keep in mind that your guys may very well show up several hours late and potentially act like a-holes. We hired these guys 2 weeks ago and had no idea what to expect. My boyfriend and I were moving in together so we had 2 stops on the way. One of our stops was a walk up on 1st avenue during the busiest time of the day! We were both amazed at how efficient and fast these guys were working their way through our stuff (and we had A LOT). The move took twice as long as we expected purely due to the amount of stuff we had and traffic, which clearly no one has control over. Regardless of the expense, we were just so so impressed with how wonderful these guys were and how they never once complained during the 6.5 hours of hauling furniture up and down the stairs in the heat. We NEVER could have done this on our own so we are greatly appreciative of their service. Yes, moving is expensive in NYC, always count on spending double the amount you get quoted because you can never predict what can happen. The unexpected should not be held against the movers though. I would NEVER ever, recommend this company to anyone. I have sustained significant damage to my furniture in the thousands. They wrapped a wooden table in thin seran wrap type of plastic and of course they banged it around, not to mention the tape marks which can't be removed because chemicals will remove the stain. They also had inexpert crew members who were sloppy and careless. They loaded the truck improperly and had to remove everything from the truck out on to the sidewalk and re-load the truck! They also charged me for this time. After much arguing, and they love to argue, they reimbursed me for a couple of hours. The damage to my furnishings remain. They came so late that they had to keep my belongings in the truck overnight. They claim they were doing me a favor! At close to midnight, they demanded that I pay them in cash that night or else they would not deliver my furniture to the storage facility the next day. Save yourself the hassle. I used a different company to move my things from storage to a different place without any problems. This was the worst and most stressful move I have ever experienced in my life.
