We originally found this moving company on Uhauls site and called them up to ask a few questions. I talked with German who answered all my questions and gave me an extremely good price especially when compared to the other companies I had talked with. They were by far the best rate which did make me a little nervous wondering how good they would be. I confirmed the details with German via text the day prior to our move. At 8 am, as scheduled, 2 movers showed up and got straight to work. They were polite, and hard working. We got our truck from uhaul but uhaul was running behind so while we waited for the truck the movers didn't hesitate at all. They managed to get a lot of our stuff out of the 1 story walk up and down to the ground level. They moved a 1 bedroom apartment(mainly furniture and about 5 boxes in 2 hours) which we felt was VERY fast. I would hired these guys time and time again! They were amazing. We didn't have 1 single complaint. And the entire process was so easy. They made our move so much easier! We can't thank you guys enough! read more

Amazing. After this, I want to go back and change my review of Oz Movers to knock them down a few stars. Michael and Carlos showed up early and got the job done in the exact amount of time they said they would. They maneuvered my very large couch out of my very small doorframe in 10 minutes (it took Oz movers 30 minutes before they 100% gave up and I had to figure it out on my own) and were friendly, polite, respectful, and funny. They always asked for my opinion on whether they could unscrew table legs before they did it and packed the van to the brim. I had previously been told by several companies I would have to hire a bigger truck or leave items, but Carlos and Michael were phenomenal. Very affordable as well. Will absolutely use in the future! Our experience with 5 Boro Movers was amazing. From start to finish, these guys were absolute professionals. Within an hour of booking through u-haul, I received a text message from 5 Boro confirming the appointment and checking in on all the necessary moving details. Moving is stressful and having a good impression right at the beginning definitely helped to calm my nerves. The actual move was just as great as their customer service. 5 Boro had the unlucky task of loading all of our furniture into a 10 footer u-haul. At first, they didn't think they would be able to get the couch in. However, with a lot maneuvering and "playing tetris," they made it work. This will be the third time I've used 5 boro to help me move, and every time is better than the last. I have very few complaints aside from spelling borough "boro", but perhaps it's a pun of which I am unaware. I moved from my 2 bed room to storage recently. 5 boro sent two guys to help. They were incredibly fast and had a real gift for orginization. They managed to get almost everything I was moving into a 10 foot uhaul, which was an incredible feat, and they managed to do it in an hour. The only thing they couldn't fit was my bike. So one of the movers offered to ride it to the storage unit and meet me and the other guy there. By the way, it was November, raining and freezing. So he did. This is obviously above and way beyond... They continued to be incredibly adept at packing my storage unit. We went over my prepaid 2 hours by an hour and a half, which I expected so it wasn't a big deal. I highly recommend if you are interested in saving some money in renting your own truck. Also, for out of towners that have just arrived with a truck and no sleep, 5 boro really takes an incredible amount of stress out of what I consider to be my least favorite activity in the world, moving. These guys are the best. We will definitely hire them again for any work that we need that they are willing to do, in New York, or anywhere they are willing to go. We hired them for three hours as movers on one day, and three hours as cleaners on the next day. The team was German (pronounced "Herr-mann") and Carlos (pronounced "Carlos"), and they were great. The conditions they had to work in were quite atrocious. We provided them with respirators because of the 20-years accumulation of dust and fallen plaster, and worse, in the apartment, which was also tiny, cluttered beyond imagination with very little room to work in. At the top of four flights of very very narrow stairs. They took this all in stride. We had them remove some 20-year old carpet, which meant moving everything from one part of the room, removing the carpet, sweeping dusting, cleaning as much as possible. The owner could not stay in the premises during cleaning because of the health hazards from the dust. I was there as the owner's representative to supervise, and help. Carlos packed the owner's prized possessions to move them as if they were his own, but he moved quickly. We didn't have boxes available but he worked to retain the order of the stacks of "stuff" in order that the original order could be discerned later. When Carlos had suggestions about how to handle something sensitive (the situation was quite overwhelming in its magnitude) he would ask me before doing something that required a "command decision" but otherwise he worked independently. They took all the garbage (at least 20 large container bags) and the unwanted furniture down those four flights of narrow stairs, they stacked it as neatly as possible as instructed. They moved everything with forethought for how they were going to clean and then move things back the next day. Cleaning was the same way. They came in the next day, with boxes, to help pack everything up that was loose. German took the bathroom, Carlos the kitchen and living area. Again, using the utmost care to avoid disturbing the "leaning tower of CDs" that was literally on the verge of collapsing, every surface that could be touched was dusted, cleaned with sanitizing wipes, etc. 20 years of grime was removed from the stove and refrigerator, and the walls and shelves. We didn't have a mop, so they washed the splintery wooden floors by hand. The bathroom sparkled. When the owner came in after it was finished, he said that the place looked better than when he had moved in. It was neat and tidy, everything was stacked in a way that it could be accessed. Their attitude throughout was positive, friendly, polite and respectful. I don't know if this is the worst mess they have ever dealt with in their careers, but I have to presume that it would be up there in their "Top 10." I have had to move archival collections in my career, and I would hire these guys to do that sort of work. I would definitely recommend these guys for any moving, cleaning, or similar work. Moving isn't always easy, but with 5 Boro Movers it was a breeze. We hired two helpers to help us move from Washington Heights to the West 80's and were very pleased with their service. They were friendly, funny and prompt with timing. We worked with Carlos and another helper and they were overall very mindful of our furniture pieces and how many boxes we had. Was very happy with the service 5 Boro Movers provided. Carlos and Jorge showed up 5 minutes early, didn't mind waiting 15 until a parking space for the truck opeded up. They both were very friendly and professional. They unloaded our studio apartment in about an hour and half, which is a five floor walk-up. They disassembled the futon to get it up the tight stairs, and then reassembled it in the apartment. Their price was one of best we found on numerous websites. We used this company based on the reviews from movinghelp.com.... first off we hired 3 guys for 4 hours because we have 3 flights of stairs and did not want them to tire easy. Only 2 showed up. first red flag... then once couldnt even speak english so couldnt really tell him what needs to go and what not.. then the same gentle man decided to take a 30 min break in my restroom and use all my toiletpaper. thanks bro. finally they way the loaded my belongins what worthless. A blind limbless monkey could have done better then the boys they sent to load my entire house. It came to loading my kitchen table.. The legs were on and the movers asked if i wanted the legs on. Seeing how we moved it up the stairs with the legs on and there was no damage i figured what the hell.. lets just move it so we can get on the road.. .BIG MISTAKE. these untrained boys decided it fit to turn the table upside down and try to fit it down the stairs. Appartently the have not moved a table with legs before.. bc it is best to move tabels on there side so you can angle the corners with ease. finally after i seen the damage (see pic). I kicked the non english speaking shitter off of his end of the table. explained to the other one that it needs to be turned on its side we can angle it down the rest of the stairs. Wouldnt you know.. no further damage caused.. On top of my table, they damaged all 6 chairs, a recliner, a oversized lounge chair, both parts of a sectional, a stainless steel trash can, and many more things.Upon delivery the "wall" of boxes that was stacked first, some how managed to fall over and crush everything below. Once i called the contact at 5 boro mover.. German Hincapie @ 1-347-776-0166 he proceeded to tell me that he was only paid 240 for the job so we was only responsible for 240. I tried to explain to him the morals of owning a business and sometimes there are risks involved and if your employees damaged others belongs you assume responsibility. Not only were my belongings damaged the poor stairwell was beat to hell and that effected the amount of my deposit that was returned to me from my landlord. Because German refused to work with my landlord to have the stairwell replaced. German then proceeded to tell me that we wasnt going to pay for anything and if we wanted to we can sue him then hung up the phone.. i then texted him to ask the name and address of his lawyer and he cowared and did not respond. Since this 5 boro movers has been removed/banned from movinghelp.com Although the link above appears to still be working i have been in contact with management @ movinghelp.com and they have assured me the company has been banned. I discovered these guyz through the u-haul website when I was hiring a truck to move apartment. German (I assume the boss) was very responsive and the team he sent around to help were nice guyz, on time and worked hard. We all pitched in and got the chore done with a few laughs. Their prices were very reasonable and fair - and it was a great deal - and I was happy to tip the guyz at the end for bustin their rears. So I can certainly recommend 5 Boro Movers. I left a review on the U-haul site and I am leaving one here as well - so that other folks can stumble across them too. If you want to move apt in New York - don't use moving companies if you're on a tight budget and just need a hand with lifting stuff - use 5 boro movers or a similar company, hire your own truck and you'll find it all costs way way way less. read more

DO NOT USE THESE MOVERS. 0 stars is not nearly a low enough rating. I had to give them one star because the app wouldn't let me leave zero. These movers will NOT show up and they will leave you stranded with an apartment full of boxes and no help to move them!!!!I am not sure where all these good reviews come from. I got their number (which is only VM - don't expect any contact the day you actually need to speak with someone) from my neighbor who used their services on 12/17. For him, they were an hour late but he said "packed the truck really well". I scheduled a truck-loading two weeks in advance for a move on 12/29 at 10am. I am 6 months pregnant and my husband and I needed help loading a moving truck to move across country. THESE MOVERS DID NOT SHOW UP. I called an hour before the move to see if they could come early, as I was instructed to do by Hermann when I made the reservation. Left a VM with "Hermann" as is his practice. His message always promises to return calls within the hour. Called again at 10:05 when I hadn't heard back. Called again at 1030, 1050, 1115, 1130, noon. No return calls, no movers at my door as promised. These jerks left me with no one to help me load a truck. I am strong, but pregnant enough that I couldn't do much in the way of hauling boxes into a truck. I finally found a really nice guy on Craigslist who owns a moving company and actually ANSWERS his phone who rushed over to help my husband and a friend of ours load our truck. DO NOT USE THESE MOVERS!!!! Because of them, we left FOUR hours later than we were supposed to, got stuck in rush hour traffic and couldn't even get to our new home until late on New Year's Eve. What should have been a day and a half event took THREE DAYS because of their dishonesty and incompetence and total disregard for the importance of a SCHEDULED MOVE. DO NOT USE THESE MOVERS!!!! Sure they are cheap, but they will leave you in the worst bind possible. Don't risk it. Pay a little more for a reputable company who you can SPEAK with when you call them. DO NOT USE THESE MOVERS! DO NOT USE THESE UNPROFESSIONAL LAZY MOVERS. My nightmare started when i picked them due to reasonable price at www.uhual.com when renting a truck. I has 2 movers that just had no idea what they where doing, Thank God I had my husband and a few family members there to give an extra hand. I had personally packed and moved all my personal items so the only thing they needed to was to move about 5 to 6 furniture items. I has a 17' truck from uhual but from some reason we needed to do 2 trips. when i went to my new apartment to check on everything the guys were lounging on my lazy boy couch surfing Facebook. I was so upset they had run over 2 extra hours and none of my furniture was in the apartment. they ended up leaving because i refused to pay any additional money. I had to hire guys to bring my stuff in because they just left it in the lobby. I've used 5 Boro Movers four times now for a variety of jobs and they've excelled at each and every one of them. I've lived in my apartment for 20 years and after 10 months being out of NYC for cancer treatment, I had to move back and my place was in no state for someone in my condition. I originally hired 5 Boro to get rid of my old carpets and futon and clean the place up and they did such a good job that a few weeks later, when my landlord was going to fix and pain the walls after 20 years, I called them again to help put my loose CDs and books into boxes and help move them out of the apartment to make space... and they did such a good job with THAT, that I hired them a couple days later to put everything back and they really did a bang-up job with that, too. German was the foreman for the first stage of cleaning but Carlos really blew me away with the care he took to packing all my CDs and DVDs and I think he may even have a photographic memory since he seemed to remember where everything belonged when he returned weeks later to put everything back in place. I cannot recommend 5 Boro Movers enough... they communicate with you and they do exactly what you need but they're also very instinctive in terms of the best way to do the job so you don't have to micromanage them. I used 5 boro a couple weeks ago moving my parents into NYC from Massachusetts. We request 2 Guys for an unload the guys arrived on time ready to work if i'm not mistaken they names where John & Kwan. These guys were great finished the job on time and even offered extra help by installing our A/C, Reinstalling the bed, they also made my parents feel comfortable by saying "If you need help with anything else you can call us at our person numbers for assistants free of charge". I will recommend 5 Boro to anyone that I know that's moving into or out of NYC. read more

They send you tons of text messages before your moving date confirming the time, address, number of guys, size of the uhaul, whether they're loading or unloading, etc. It was incredibly convinient to have all that info right on hand. Now here is where they really shined. I realized only HOURS before my move I had confirmed with them the wrong date! I called the company and they said it was no problem to switch to that afternoon. Two guys showed up at the time I originally booked (but now 3 days early!) Then to make matters worse, I was late! Both of the guys waited around for 15 minutes and were ready to go as soon as the uhaul was parked. Keiron was an amazing work horse and the two movers unloaded my 10 foot uhaul up four flights of stairs in an hour! Nothing was damaged and they were incredibly patient with a stressed out customer. Two out of the three movers were great but the dispatcher and their manager was horror! First they gave me the wrong quote: even though I listed the furniture I needed to move and the size of my apartment they told me I only needed to rent a 17" truck which was way too small. They also said 3 guys in 3 hours would do the job - that sounded tight to me so I booked them for 4. They constantly harassed me at work even though I had two people helping me at home. I got screamed at, blamed, and called a liar for asking them to finish the job they signed up for. They had to make two rounds because the truck they said I needed was too small and therefore doubled the time they originally quoted! When I was unable to pay they wanted to just quit... after much Back and forth they wanted to dump everything in my living room instead of placing at least the heavier items in the right place... even though their dispatcher said he'd pay the difference one of the guys told me his boss is a liar and he'd have to end up working for free so he quit the job in the middle... then the two remaining guys drove off without a word, without telling my helpers where they went. They added 30 min. to the move by not telling us that they did go back to the old apartment after telling me they wouldn't and my helper had to take a cab to go back to let them in... I could go on and on... going way over budget, feeling scammed and exhausted. It's a shame the guys did a good job under such horrible management. read more

They were experts at loading the van so that nothing was damaged during transit, and also they got all my stuff in one trip, which I didn't think would be possible.
