The prices at this location are hit and miss in terms of value- some items are a great deal- some are almost full retail. I wonder if part of this is because of the color coded sticker discounts (knowing it will eventually go to a color that is 50% off- the value then changes fast). The store is clean, has a good variety and does a great job at organizing and displaying clothing items. Pants are hung on side hang rail bars at an angel making them easy to see. This might result in less being on display but makes the presentation very impressive and easy to shop. All in all though this store is well run and can find unique finds. read more

They have a large variety of stuff, I'll give them that. However, they are way overpriced. Do they not realize they are selling second hand items? When I went there this weekend they were literally selling a USED already half burnt candle for $4. I can buy a brand new candle for $4.. who are they kidding? The prices on things are not consistent either. They will be selling a couch for $10, but a woven basket for $5. When I go to a thrift store, I expect prices for stuff to be under $5, with smaller items being $1. I would rather just go buy something brand new and spend the extra money. They have an amazing selection of books, but again they are all $3-$5 which I feel like is a lot for used books they get for free. I can buy used books at that price at a local used book store and support a small business. The other thing is the check out lines. I was discriminated against at the leamington ontario location, Oct 11, 2020 for being unable to wear a mask for my health issues. Instead of being told I couldnt enter the store or even that i needed to leave, they allowed me to shop for 30 min, fill a cart, and then call the police. NOT ONCE did they ask me to leave. My child and her friend were visiting the Value Village in Bellingham, WA, recently and had a horrible experience. A female employee was physically intimidating them and yelling at one of them. My child's friend went into a changing room with two items, and they didn't fit. When handing the items to the female employee after leaving the dressing room, the employee started yelling that one of the items didn't have a price tag, and that all their items have price tags and where was the price tag. My child's friend calmly replied that apparently not all their items have price tags, because that item did not. Many items in Value Village are without price tags, I've seen that myself. The way items are crammed onto the racks alone can tear price tags off. My child and her friend were then glared at by the female employee for the rest of the time they were in the store, after they left and even after they got into their car - which could be seen by the employee as she stood in the door glaring at them. They will no longer shop at Value Village, they were thoroughly disgusted with how disrespectful this employee was. Value Village, are you condoning this kind of employee behavior? If you have a question for a customer, then ask it, and ask it politely. These kids would have been glad to answer your questions or let you see anything they had with them. Stop bullying and act professional. The employee was saying she was going to check the store cameras to her co-worker. Please do, and then feel free to post your apology as a response to this post. As a side note, you cannot begin to imagine how many things we have given to Value Village over the years. We are a family of five. We have literally taken truckloads of furniture, clothing, books, toys, and household items to thrifts in the last 25 years. The reason? Because we wanted other people who can't afford new things to be able to buy them at an affordable cost if they wanted, and we to recycle things. Value Village prices are now often too high for even low income people. I recall seeing an Eddie Bauer flannel shirt that was quite worn for $10.00 a few years back. Are you aware it can be found brand new from the Eddie Bauer outlet store for that? Value Village takes our donations, at no cost to them, and they never complain when we are dropping them off. Please don't forget how you are in business, it's because of donors. I will drive a little further to give all of our donations to St. Vincent DePaul, and encourage others to do the same. The reason? Because it is an organization that cares about the people it serves and they still have reasonable prices. Low income people often depend on thrifts to get by. Because of the prices at Value Village and the other thrifts are charging now I had been contemplating giving my donations to St. Vincent DePaul anyway. read more

I cannot stand this value village! Their prices on clothing is absolutely a scam, as I often come across prices for T-shirt's that are the same price as new in the store. I've pointed it out to the staff many times and am usually met with a rude response. This is supposed to be a store that caters the low income and people who cannot afford much however they have become greedy, hiked their prices to make it not worth anyone's time. Their staff are a bunch of rude, immature degenerates that are clearly there doing their probation/community service hours. They do not care about their patrons. Value Village is pretty scattershot. Prices on obviously cool items, like Pimp jackets, or giant belt buckles, are raised pretty accordingly. Kind of a bummer because the cool stuff is mixed in with a whole lot of unremarkable stuff. After spending an hour wading through the mediocre, it's nice to be rewarded for finding the few diamonds in the rough... Instead you usually get price gouged... This is Definitely not true for everything though, I've gotten some really over the top deals at Value Village. Their Half-off sales are what's up!!! But they do get super crowded durring them....I got my favorite real leather jacket at the last half off sale for 7 bucks!! Check it out, but don't get your heart set on any one item... read more

I shop at value village all the time it's a great place to buy clothes sustainably and the prices are always good especially considering they have tons of sale days. The staff is always nice and complimentary which I really appreciate as well as you can find some pretty amazing pieces you would never find in new clothing stores and would cost a fortune at vintage stores. read more

Dont think ill be doing much shopping here anymore. Tryd to exchange some items and they say oh where not doing exchanges on anything except clothes now. So i say, how are you suppost to know that they changed there policies seeing that they are still putting out items that say no exchange and some that dont? And they reply. "It says it on the receipt" oh so im suppost to buy somthing and then once i have alreasy bought somthing i cant return then you tell me that the policy changed and i cant return it. Beacuse that makes alot of sence. "Unfortunately its not in our control" really now you cant put a sign up at the entrance saying we are not taking exchanges at this time? You cant have your employees take half a second to tell people when they come to checkout "just so you know due to covid we are not taking exchanges at this time" completely out of your control huh. This is a clothing oriented thrift store. I can pretty much always find the article of clothing I want if I go here. Sure, you have to look through a ton of stuff and wash your hands with gasoline in the parking lot when you leave but isn't that just part of shopping at thrift stores? Electronics are fair, kitchenware and books are a little better. Check the "valuable" cases at the front of the store by the checkouts to see what weird things they deem valuable enough to lock up. Prices are a little high, keep an eye out for the daily half price tag color. Also, they usually have 50% off clothing sales on major and semi-major holidays. e.g. Veterans Day. read more

This place is too overpriced. I once saw a used Pyrex baking dish for $9.99; I found the exact same one - new - at Ross for $6. I've bought a few dishes here and there and got a good deal on a cute shirt when it was on sale, but overall I think they ask way too much $ for things that are used. read more

I always try to buy second hand when I can, and so it was about time that I made it to Value Village. I can't even count how many times I've asked people where they got this or that, and they've said that they got it here. The things that I appreciated about this store is that it is well-organized and clean for a thrift store. As other people have noted, the prices are a bit high, but i did find what I was looking for. Their selection isn't as big as you would think, but again, shopping there was a pleasant experience because of how accessible everything was. I've been going here for years and nearly always come away with a bargain or two. You do have to hunt, but it's usually worth it! Their housewares section is great and they have tons of clothes. I don't know why others have trashed this store, it's great, every time I go in I come out with 5-6 items. In the last couple of months I have upgraded my work wardrobe and have bought 6-7 sport coats and 7-8 dress shirts and a nice London Fog rain coat for the price of one sport coat at Macy's. You often find clothes that either are new or in like new condition. I don't know why anyone would say they charge the same price as department stores I don't know anyone department store would charge you $5 for a new sports coat that I get rave reviews at work. As far as "washing your hands with gasoline" when you leave the store, what BS. The staff is friendly, you get coupons for money off when you donate items, and it goes to a good cause, whats not to like. I was stunned the other week when I was in the Value Village here across from Winco in BH. As the a male cashier was handling my purchase, a female employee came up and just started writing on the male cashier's arm with a ball point pen. He stopped the transaction and the female employee and him just stood there giggling like third graders. Now, I know I'm not at Macy's in Bellevue but who does this? I decided to call and ask if they had any piano keyboards currently at store. The bus trip from where I am to the store is long and I didn't want to take up all the time of commute for nothing. The employees I spoke to were rude, and spoke to me like I was a major inconvenience - especially the first lady I spoke to. She kept insisting I come in even when I said it is a long trip for me. She didn't want to tell me details about the piano keyboard(they DID have one there), didn't want to walk to the part of the store it was at, and was generally lazy and condescending at providing me information. I was really hoping to buy a piano keyboard. After I spoke to the first rude lady - I got transferred and the lady I got transferred to was also rude, first thing she says is, "who's this?" in a snotty tone. I am appalled by this behavior. I have been a regular customer at this store for a few years. I love the store, but I can't believe the rude treatment I was given over the phone. I have never had this issue with employees here before. So today, because of that treatment, Value Village unfortunately gets one star. Mixed review..... stuff is WAAAAY over priced. Once in a while, you find a deal, but not often. Clothing is very overpriced. A nice skirt might cost $10-25 at Value Village, while the same skirt might cost $15 at Macy's clearance rack,or JCP. All the reviews currently on here are for the old location. The new location is AWESOME! It is enormous and the selection can't be beat. Some prices seem high but most are very reasonable. Sign up for there member card and get special offers and look for fab sales on holidays (like President's Day). Also take advantage of thier 30% off punch card (earn punches with donations and purchases). This thrift store should not be missed. They restock 7 days a week; so every day is a new store. You wont find a better selection on clothes, promise. Also they dont pull the best stock to sell online (like Goodwill) so you have the opportunity to find really amazing things! They have furniture, books, toys, housewares too. But clothing is where it's at. read more

I'm surprised by the negative comments in the other reviews. I'm new to Bellingham, and have been very pleasantly surprised by the breadth and often by the quality of what is to be found in the thrift shops around here, especially at Value Village. For one thing, the 20% discount is a great boon for seniors, of which I happen to be one. I generally look over most areas of the store, as one never knows what goodie one will find in any thrift shop, which is one of the things that makes shopping in them both economical and also fun. The large new building is bright and spacious, and I have found the staff to be both helpful and pleasant. The (mostly) young people who work here seem to be enjoying themselves, which makes for a very pleasant atmosphere in which to shop. In addition to having found numerous good buys in the clothing department, I always check out the sizable book department, in addition to scanning the furniture and household areas. One has to realize that one can't always find exactly the item that one is looking for when one goes to a thrift shop, but the size of this one increases the likelihood of walking off with some useful item at a pretty darn good price. Last but not least, the policy of giving a coupon worth $3 when one makes a donation of used goods is quite a sensible move, which keeps me coming back. (In case anyone is wondering, I am new to Bellingham, and have no connection of any kind with Value Village other than as a thrifty shopper.) read more
