This Value Village has always been a flop for me. The parking is unreasonably hard here, but so is finding anything of worth. I have shopped here a decent number of times and find that more than half of the items are from Shein or Target, and are sold at the same prices they would have been purchased for originally. There is really nothing here of value. It drives me nuts to see the shelves full of fast fashion. I guess I would rather have these items be given a second life over thrown away, but it seems like such a waste to be shopping used items that were probably only $10 to begin with. I would recommend going in a weekday, as the weekends here are very overstimulating and stressful. Loud, crowded, and hard to navigate. The weekdays are a bit more peaceful. read more

This store wouldn't take back a defective can opener or do an exchange. Said they can't "test" all the items. Looks like we won't go there again. If you get home and the item doesn't work, you should be able to exchange it. What you could do now is offer to make things right and take back the can opener that doesn't work for an exchange--not even a refund. But see, you can't even make things right. Wasn't the opener free for you? Did you have to pay for the opener? How can you keep someone's money for a defective product you sold? What kind of business does that? Standing at the jewelry counter waiting for service for a few minutes, then the manager announces its 8pm. Finally flag down an associate within a minute of the announcement, sorry stores closed, can't get anything out of the jewelry case. I love thrifting especially value village but this locations manager, the one with the flat cap, has some sort of a bad complex. The floor workers and cashiers are super friendly and very helpful, but the manager is very condescending, passive and demeaning. Items with multiple components are all priced separately as duplicates instead of taped together and sold as one unit. Upon asking nicely to understand better the manager responded with a very condescending tone, implying that he was happy to deny us of service and prove us wrong. I will no longer be shopping at this location until the manager has received psychiatric treatment and stops power tripping. read more

I did find a cool over the sling bag which I like using, so that was a win. I'm not stranger to thrift stores, but Value Village/Savers stores. This one in particular is large, well organized and well run. They have a large staff working the floor and the back constantly stocking and organizing clothes and items. The store is pretty clean and for a couple hours before the store is open the entire staff is working hard to get the store ready to go. Let's just say I have the inside scoop. I've scored some cool stuff here in my visits. Nice drinking glasses, and a very good condition lamp all for decent enough prices. Some of the tags are a bit overpriced, including buy 4 books get 1 free? Really? Should be more like BOGO on those seeing as how they have a small library accumulating and not a lot of it moving. Most thrift stores have a tough time maintaining order with the swarms of folks that roll in. They do a pretty good job trying to keep that in order here. Besides the kick on some of the prices, I wish they had at least one manned register. It's all self-checkout here. Good store overall though. read more

Value Village still has some good finds but the prices are much higher than any other thrift store. But more than that! I'm pretty sure Value Village is in financial trouble because while their prices have skyrocketed to an almost retail price point, service has plummeted and all checkouts are self checkouts. In addition; they have removed all of their dressing rooms, so unless you want to try on those $18.00 used pants in the isle you have no idea whether you'll like them on until you get them home. And if you don't like them then too bad for you! There are no returns, just store credit. Normally at thrift stores I don't mind the store credit only policy since I almost never bring anything back, but pants are always a crap shoot. I love thrifting and have been doing it all my life. Growing up, we were poor and didn't have a choice but now I am fortunate to be able the go thrifting because I enjoy it. I will not go here again. The prices are insane!!!! They are pricing things at normal store prices. Why buy something second hand when you can buy it new for the same price or even less in some cases. And books?? We love reading so I have gone in a few times to see about getting books. They are asking 4.99 and 5.99 for used books?? I can go to half price and get books for cheaper. There are so many people in need and that can't afford to go to the malls and shop so thrift stores are their only option. VV is disgusting. This is a shot-hole of all thrift stores. I usually donate at least a half dozen times a year here because it's convenient. This VV is close to all the high income-earners, so it should be teaming with deals. Not so much. As a donattee - they make it very hard to drop things off. No baby items are accepted. No bedding furniture is accepted. Whatever else you donate depends on how much room they have. They closed their Redmond location citing the light rail development 3 years ago - the space is still empty. It was just "too expensive" for the owner and his billion dollar ranch. As a consumer - there are no fitting rooms, there is no return policy, they don't clean or wash any of their items that they get for free and yet they price them almost at the price of a brand new item (sometimes even higher! They don't even check price tags - some items have an existing tag from a store that is lower than the price they tag for a used item they received for free). They will not allow you to try things on before purchasing. All cashier stands have been converted to "self check out" stands. Some items are missing a price tag and when asked - those are valued at new item value (ie a used T-shirt is sold at priced as new, and when asked about pricing, they use their a-hole voice to tell you if you don't like it - they will "process" it for their own official price within 48 hours. I don't think I will return, would rather donate to Goodwill read more

Going into any second hand store you have to be opened and flexible about what you want, when you go shopping. The selection of the store is huge I purchase many high quality clothes for a good price. If you are in the area I would recommend checking out the store. So mushy options for pants, shirts, formal clothes, dress, shoes, etc... this store is awesome! Also they have self-checkout. I have mixed feelings about this store. On the positive side, they have a better-than-average selection of clothes. (I credit the local tech industry that calls this area "home".) Now, the less-than-awesome news. Something stinks here, and it isn't "that one pair of pants" found in every store. Oh no. Whoever is running corporate these days has made it crystal clear that profit-before-people is the new business model. First, they haven't reopened their dressing rooms, and it is my understanding they do not intend to. Ever. At first, I didn't think anything of it. It made sense during COVID. Keeping germs out of small, shared, rectangular boxes made sense. That's not why they are still closed. Someone did the math on exchanges. What's that? You had your heart set on trying on 59 items because they a such a good deal? You can still do that -if you buy all 59. They give you two weeks to EXCHANGE these items. The store will NOT give you your money back. Clothing sales from would-be "no" piles, check! Retained profits from not having to pay staff to maintain dressing rooms, check! Heck, while we're at it, who needs human cashiers? That will save the company a ton of money, right?...Right? You guessed it. The only way for this family of 5 to purchase our shopping cart piled with no-refundable clothes was to DIY it. Did I mention that the scanners weren't built to read tags on every surface known to man? Sometimes, they would not scan the item at all. At other times, they would scan it 6 times before the "beep" was delivered. Multiply that by every customer in the checkout lines. We all had to wait for the one human who was frantically bouncing from register to register, manually keying in unreadable items and removing duplicates. It was a nightmare. "But it's for charity..." No. Value Village is a for-profit company that buys clothes from charities. There's a big difference. Make sure you're clear about that. Their billion-dollar bottom line is doing just fine. Nope. You can keep your killer deal on quippy, fan-favorite t-shirts and designer bands. My sanity is worth more. I can think of a dozen other companies I'd rather give my money to. read more

Ok, so I love thrifting, finding good deals. But when I came here today. There was a couple by the men's section waiting for workers to bring out new clothes on the floor. They literally run towards those racks and rip things out if your hands, mean mug everyone around. And just don't let you look. I tried to look at the new racks but the women is almost shoving you out if the way. Plus they kept chit chatting with an older women worker like they planning something. No more. I've donated at this location on and off for years. Typically the drive thru is a mess of carts and donations...today I came thru with my truck to donate an office chair. I didn't think I would fit so took the outside loop ( which has never been a problem before). The attendant told me I couldn't drop my item, I had to get into line (there was one other vehicle there unloading). So I went around, parked and walked up with the chair. At this point there were no other vehicles there, the attendant came running at me, she said I can't drop off without coming thru in a vehicle!! I asked if there were any way to walk up a donation ... and she said no, only out of a vehicle. I asked to speak to a manager, but none seemed to be readily available. This experience coupled with the bad wrap this company receives regularly from critics has ended my relationship. I arrived at 7:25 because the store closes at 8 and was immediately told to hurry by the lady who was the manager because they actually close at 7:45. For the next twenty minutes I could not even go just in shopping because she was circling the store SHOUTING in every persons face that they need to get in line. When somebody tried to walk in at 7:40 she told them the doors were locked. Everyone in the store looked uncomfortable and rushed. Value Village claims to help people. Many do not know that they are a For-Profit business, and these unsuspecting folks donate their used goods, thinking it is a donation to charity, in order to help people. Value Village literally receives the inventory they sell FOR FREE. They closed their fitting rooms under the guise of COVID "safety", and do not allow returns of clothing that do not fit, they only allow exchange in store within 14 days. While virtually every other local retail store has reopened their fitting rooms, Value Village seems to have no plan to reopen theirs. This is a sad way to conduct a business that is supposed to be helping people. Folks that truly need to shop in thrift stores have no more time than anyone else and requiring them to return and only allow store credit is not a service. They also use flimsy tags which come off easily. The tag fell off while you were trying the item on at home? Too bad, you may not even get store credit. Remember, these are used items, they received for free, and they can very easily reattach a price tag. It is simply wrong to penalize people that need your services. I am fortunate that I'm not in a position where I am required to shop in thrift shops but I choose to as a way to recycle goods and save money. I will take my dollars elsewhere. I'm sure they do not pay their employees enough and I know the employees are not personally responsible for the high prices and are literally just enforcing the policies the store has. Most of the employees are sixteen year old girls. I have unpleasant interactions with them but they're kids so I don't usually mind. But! There was a tag missing on this shirt that I was absolutely in love with. They said they couldn't sell it to me and I couldn't put it on hold. But I could go through literally the hundreds of sweaters at their location when it gets priced and there is no guarantee when the pricing will be done. It was quite frustrating but the child behind the counter was really apologetic. About a couple month ago they double charged my mom 129 dollars. They refused to refund her lmaoo so the bank had to do it. It took my mom a month to get her money back. We have been going here for ten years. And their employees used to be real adults but I'm sure they're not paid enough anymore so they got teenagers from upper middle class families on the east-side who are unable to look customers in the eye or have conversations. But honestly I don't mind them because they usually do their job and I really don't care if they speak to me but I know many people do. Village getting sued by Washington state for being misleading and marketing itself as a charity is hilarious because their prices are just so high for no reason other than profit. Their employees make minimum wage (not fifteen more like eleven). There's no job training. No engagement with underserved populations that is their main demographic. They raise prices cause they can and because second-hand stores are "in". They're the largest for-profit thrifting chain in the world. So yeah they wouldn't sell me a sweater, but their store as a whole is ethically irresponsible and I implore you to shop at Goodwill. read more

OK, I have been a giant fan of thrift stores from LONG before it was cool... I discovered them in high school in about 1980. This is easily among the biggest thrift stores I've ever been in. The new store is housed in a former QFC grocery store and it's definitely the biggest Value Village in our area (keeping in mind Redmond, Kirkland, Auburn, former Renton, N. Seattle, Ballard, and Lake City locations). Actually, I think the store on 99 almost to Alderwood might be almost as big, but I suspect that Woodinville still has more square footage open to customers. Anyway, it's big. Last night, this Value Village hosted a "Savers-Only" (their loyalty club) preview sale for 3.5 hours. It was a blast, and it was a zoo! They had 62 staff on hand, if that gives you an idea... the store officially opens tomorrow, May 2nd. The parking lot was insane, but I think once they're open to everyone, in a few days the novelty will wear off and it will be way more reasonable. Being brand-new, it's especially clean and well-organized. Even with hundreds of shoppers in the store, there was plenty to choose from; we are picky, and we bought more than $100 worth of clothes, toys, and shoes. In addition to those categories, they have kitchen stuff, books, furniture, small electrics, accessories, and baby stuff. There are no surprises here for the regular VV shopper, and it even smells "right". LOL As with most VVs, 80% of the store is clothing, and it's well-organized by gender, item type, and then size and color. I almost want to ding them a star for "not enough fitting rooms" but I will go back in a week during totally-normal business hours to see if I feel the same way. read more
