Manager reprimanded his staff in front of me, and his staff was correct! Manager was rude, and he would not take the time to understand the problem. His staff member was more courteous and professional than manager. I went to Valvoline on Connecticut Avenue. Manager there was understanding and kind. I've always had exceptional service with Valvoline and have been a repeat customer for 20+ years. I've never had a major issue with service throughout the years and vaguely recall waiting an extensive amount of time once over 10+ years ago. Luckily the do have a small waiting room inside with water and a bathroom if needed. I can always go and obtain an honest assessment of my vehicle's health prior to road trips out of state. Do not come here. Came in for an oil change a few months ago against my better judgement. All went according to plan. Came back for my next oil change. "Who did your last oil change?" Oh, you guys did. They stripped the oil drain plug and could not remove it. So they decided to vacuum out the oil. Ok, oil change supposedly done. Fast forward 2 months. Had my car at my regular mechanic. Of course they could not remove the plug either. When they attempted to vac the oil out, the hose they were using would not fit, not to mention my oil was about 2 quarts over. Went back to this valvoline the other day to get the oil vacuumed out so i could get an oil change. They claimed they couldnt fit the hose in either. When I asked how they did it last time, I was told "we got a new machine." Pretty confident my oil was never changed and I was lied to and now i need a new oil pan. Looked to file a claim online and of course all claims must be filed within 30 days of service in order to have it seen. Of course it would take more than 30 days for me to realize Valvoline stripped my oil drain plug. Do yourself a favor and if you need an oil change go somewhere else. read more

Upon arrival for an oil change, I was cordially greeted by Louikenson Paul. In addition to the prompt service, which took less than 15 minutes, the staff also replaced my air filter, which was due for a replacement. They also checked and adjusted the air pressure in all four of my tires to the appropriate levels. I trust Valvoline when they tell me what I need. They are supposed to be experts at their field. I went in to the Norwalk location for the first time and spent over $160.00 to get flush of what I believe is my engine fluid. Go back a few months later to get an oil change at a different Valvoline and they tell me I have no oil in my engine?! I'm infuriated. I am going to have to figure this out. Everything was fine until I decided to go to Valvoline to get this done. I have now noticed a leak since then/ I'm wondering Did they not tighten something when they were flushing?! I won't be going back or recommending anyone. This is scary I need my vehicle for everything, to imagine I'm driving this on the highway and something happens. read more

Not a bad experience, but the past two times, as I am sitting in the car waiting for the oil to be changed, the guy doing the work basically scolds my car. Yes, I'm writing that correctly. "MAN, tire pressure is too HIGH! This is dangerous!" or "Filthy air filter." Neither time was the problem addressed to me, but rather yelled at within earshot of me. Interesting and passive aggressive at the same time. Not a bad thing, I guess, but just...off. Also previously I supposed I was not specific enough in saying I wanted a basic oil change (meant synthetic). They charged me for the $$$ expensive one. Then the last time, he said "in the past you put in conventional. Switching back and forth is bad for the engine. I take no responsibility." So maybe I should have been clear originally, but I feel like the ambiguity of a non-car person could be addressed by specialists to avoid this situation. Simply terrible. Does not even deserve one star. Not only do they try to sell you other services (notoriously taking advantage of female car owners), but my experience traumatized me from ever going back. Here goes: I went to get an oil change. All went well, or so I thought. The next day, I had a three-hour drive to Pennsylvania. I noticed, when I parked my car for the first time in my friend's driveway, the front was emitting an opaque gray smoke that definitely reeked of fuel oil. I let it go the rest of the weekend to see if maybe it was just residual oil. It happened again the following Monday. Furious, I brought it to the Subaru dealer (also awful, but that's for another story). They checked it and said whoever changed the oil carelessly laid the dipstick on top and forgot to properly insert it, causing a major spill. I was simply infuriated. I had the dealer clean it up and refill the oil. The following day, I called Valvoline and explained everything, demanded to speak with their regional manager and told them I wanted a full refund on the oil change and a reimbursement on the clean-up costs at the Subaru dealer. They tried to fight it, claiming, "Stuff like this happens," even though I got them to admit this simple, careless mistake was DANGEROUS? Excuse me! "This stuff happens," is NOT a valid excuse. Sure enough, I eventually got my way and a couple of weeks later, they reimbursed all but 20 bucks of it. Fine. I will NEVER go back there. Better off going to Splash even though they will also try to sell you other services. read more

I couldn't compliment more on the friendliness of the people at this location. Now for the reason I am disappointed and left 2 stars. Due to the fast nature of the oil change there are a lot of people talking to you and telling you to add certain things to your order. A gentleman took my cabin air filter out to tell me I needed to replace it and then put it in upside down and leaves fell in and I needed to reach in myself in order to clean them out. I expected better service. Next time I will be opting to go to a dealership for ALL of my car needs including my oil changes. read more

I will only go to this Valvoline on Connecticut Blvd in Norwalk. I have always dealt with the manager Vinny. He is always nothing but honest with me. He tells me when i need something to be done and i trust him 100%, unlike most other mechanics I've met that are dishonest. The staff seems very nice and everyone is very professional. Vinny is always easy to work with and extremely funny, he makes it an enjoyable experience start to finish. The poor technicians were sweating their shirts off due to the heat, still had smiles and their faces and treated me and my wife with great courtesy and customer service. Forget the bad reviews, most of the people seem to complain because taking care of a car costs money. Bottom line- this place tops off all your fluids, fills your tires, checks all major components, changes your oil, and gets that all done in like 20 minutes with no appointment needed. Poor service, the person tried to help two customers at the same time and I thought he was rushing. The worst part was they reduced my tire pressure on all the tires no idea why! Next day I saw the sign and had to rush to a local tire shop to fix. After that called them back letting know about the low tire pressure situation but they don't seems to care. DISHONEST / SCAM / I AM REPORTING THEM TO BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU. I went here during the summer for a basic $19.99 oil change. On my way there, I had the AC on full blast. it worked perfectly. Halfway through the oil change the mechanic comes out and says that my AC is broken and that I need a new air filter for an additional $40.00. He shows me... I called him out on his lies. He had turned off my car and left the electricity on so it seemed like the AC was broken and blowing out warm air. I turned on the car and right away the AC went back on... Freezing and not broken. If you do choose to support these snakes, please do not let them sell you anything but the basic oil change. They will take advantage of you and they will lie to you. Zero stars. read more
