Better than shaved ice, this place has shaved snow. I went to the previous vampire penguin that was in KoJa Kitchen many years ago and thought that was pretty good. This one is even better! They have a much larger selection of shaved snow and l toppings. My favorite so far is the paradise sunrise. I would also order again the peach cobbler, paulaberry and halo halo. The chocolatey ones like smoreo, Twix, and PB cups are okay if you're in a chocolate mood but I think the fruity signature flavors are the better way to go. They also have fun color changing spoons. I recently tried this place for the first time and loved the story behind it. They have an orgin story book for sale about the "vampire penguin" and stuffed animals of him which I thought was really cute. They also had plenty of different flavors that were very light and not too intense or too sweet. The ones pictured are twix, peanut butter cup, and pina colada. I did give three stars however because the service was not that great. This location closes at 9 and my family and I got there at around 8:20pm, which I think is still a decent time to order. As the cashier was taking our order, her manager (I'm assuming) was talking to us through her but in a very rude way. For example, my dad at first wanted the halo halo so as he was ordering that, the manager yells to the cashier across the store "tell them we're out of taro!" as if we couldn't hear. Then proceeded to tell her to make sure we don't sit inside because they are "closed" on the inside...we heard all of this and it just kind of made us feel rushed and feel bad for ordering. This is the weirdest dessert experience I have ever had. Don't misinterpret the weirdness with how great it is. Apparently they flavor the water and then freeze it. This is not your typical Shave Ice and pour copious amounts of syrup over it. The flavor is part of the ice and it is not heavy or over sugary. We had the Twix and Peanut butter. Both were excellent but similar. They crumble a little candy over the top and add a garnish syrup and whipped creme. I can't wait to go back especially when it is 100 degrees in Fresno! read more

Sooo happy I found this place! Located in a small plaza, parking lot in front of the store. We were greeted as soon as we walked in and the worker was very welcoming and friendly. There's table seating inside and outside. We ordered the 3 signature shaved ice for $19 and got another one for Togo $7.50 regular size. I believe it comes in 3 sizes. Each flavor we picked out were delicious! Not too sweet and was very light and fluffy. We finally tried Vampire Penguin and they did not disappoint! I think many people, myself included, mistake it for just "shaved ice." This is sooo much better! The shaved snow is already infused with flavor whereas shaved ice is not. It has an airy creamy mouth feel and the toppings take it next level. We tried the s'mores snow and it was delightful! You ever heard of "snow" like shaved ice? This place takes it to the next level! The texture of shaved ice from this place is amazing. It's bread-like where it feels dense although it's just a bunch of snow like shaved ice packed together. The service was fast and the deserts came out quick. I went when it was pretty busy with two other people and there were about 5 other groups there. I heard that it's been busier than that. I tried the Dulce de Leche and I thought it was a good level of sweet. I personally would make it a bit sweeter with a little more flan, or caramel, but overall I did like it. The texture, the flavor and the creativity of the premade deserts was phenomenal. You do have the option to mix it up and make your own. Also, the prices are very fair the small starts at $7 which is what I got, and the large starts at $9. I've been wanting to check this place out for a few weeks now, so we decided to come and get some desert there this evening. It's a pretty interesting place to say the lease lol we got our super fancy snowcones to go so my pics don't do the justice to the snowcones haha. Surprisingly there wasn't much of a wait because we came in later in the evening but parking was horrible because of all the restaurants in the area lol.
