Vampire Penguin has been on my radar for a while, and I finally got the chance to try it. Walking in, I wasn't quite sure what to expect, and I did feel a little overwhelmed at first. The interior is very busy, with snacks and merch in the front corners, and it felt a bit crowded. The décor definitely leans hard into the Halloween/vampire theme, which fans of that aesthetic will probably enjoy. Ordering was slightly confusing. There wasn't a menu listing the premade items, so you had to wait for them to scroll across the TV screen above the register. There was however a detailed menu for building your own dessert, which was helpful. We arrived later in the evening, and it seemed like they were starting to wind down for the night, but the staff was still friendly and took our order without issue. Our wait time was about 10 minutes for two items. I ordered the Peach Blossom, which was much sweeter than I expected. When I think of shaved ice, I usually imagine something closer to Korean style shaved ice, especially since it's Asian owned, but this felt more like a fusion dessert. My daughter ordered the Butterbeer and enjoyed it, though it was also too sweet for my personal taste. The main downside during our visit was the bathroom. The toilet wasn't functioning properly, my husband had trouble flushing it and had to open the lid to mess with it and about 10 minutes later my daughter experienced the same issue and had to text us from inside. It's something that could become a bigger problem if not addressed. Overall, the experience was interesting and unique, and I'm open to giving it another try with maybe a custom built order. A few improvements would really elevate the experience.

After every Christmas or choir performance, it has always been a tradition to go out for ice cream. My parents did this for me growing up, and now it's something we continue with our own kids. After my son's performance, we gave him the choice between Baskin Robbins or Vampire Penguin, and even though we had never been there before, he chose Vampire Penguin. It's such a cute spot with fun, creative snow cones. The ice is light and fluffy, and the toppings are very "extra". We each ordered something different, and I went with the Fruity Pebbles; it was delicious! I'm not sure if the cashier was the owner, but she truly made the experience. She was friendly, quick, and took the time to explain all the snow cone options. Her energy and kindness made the visit even more special.

We ordered Thai-Bo which was Thai tea snow and coffee snow minus the bobas since they've ran out and Coffee Toffee that was coffee snow with pieces of Heath toffees bits. Both shaved snow we ordered had very faint taste of flavor but was soft and fluffy and the toppings helped make it tasty. Beware of the caramel, it is veryyyyyy sweet. Service was good and the decor was cute.

Great little spot to get what the call "shaved snow". Imagine Ice Cream in shave ice form. It was pretty dang good! Service was quick after ordering our desserts. I wanted a vampire dog also but I didn't want to wait the 15 minutes for them to cook it.

Delicious shaved ice! They have many options but we chose the strawberry churro, and strawberry cheesecake shaved ice. Flavors were not too sweet and very enjoyable. Inside was clean, with cute decor. Unsure if there are any other places like this in Fresno but will return. Service was good, I'm sure it can be overwhelming at times but the girl taking our order was nice and patient. This place had been on my radar for a while and I'm glad I finally tried it.

We love this place. We had tried this amazing dessert originally at Koja Kitchen. Love the variety of this place. You can get something fruity, chocolaty, or customized to your tastes. The shaved ice is not like a snow cone or ice cream. It's more like a sugar snow. You should give it a try! Its different but delicious.

Was very excited to come in and try this place, have seen it many times but never got to pop in. Went in tonight with an over 45 minutes until closing time, the store itself was very cute! The chairs were already stacked and no one greeted us for about 5 minutes. That wasn't too much a a problem I totally get it however when the girl came from the back she just stood at the register and stared at us no hello, or "can I take your order" she then took our orders and spoke about 2 words. Waited a few minutes and when our orders were ready we had our backs turned looking at the candy and merchandise, she just set them on the counter and walked away. Food itself was super yummy and I'll definitely come back but hope the service is better! read more

Vampire Penguin in Fresno has the BEST shaved ice dessert ever! I love that they have a pre-created menu and offer a build-your-own!! Super kid and family friendly. What a delightful little surprise this was!! The store is set up like most ice cream or shaved ice places but the flavors and flavor combinations are out of this world. I tried mocha with cookie crumbles. Light, fluffy, perfect amount of sweetness and flavor. My son tried one with Butterfingers and it was equally as good. I would suggest the smaller size $8.50 but the best bargain is the larger size (twice as much) at 10.50. They also have a huge selection of Jelly Bellies. Crazy name and crazy good. Leaving dinner I thought I misread the sign, but I didn't and now I was intrigued. The owner and staff explained the concept - shaved ice with the flavors mixed in and not poured on top. There were several different combos. I opted for peanut butter and got my niece the tuxedo. I've always wanted to try this place out and so I decided to go and try due to the heat. And wow did I make the right choice. Their snowy goodness is soft and very flavorful, so much better than normal shave ice. We got the Halo Halo, Smoreo, and Cocoa Loco. And my family demolished it before I can take some proper pictures. Very delicious! The staffs were very friendly as well, it's our first time there and we took forever to order but staff helped us with ordering. Can't wait to go back again. Hooray, Fresno finally getting a new dessert place! Located next to FIVE. We loved the flavors we selected, all excellent. It's shaved ice but with a unique texture that is hard to explain. I like the interesting and creative combinations of the dessert. The staff was friendly but not helpful to make suggestions as we had a large group and their menus is very extensive for a ice dessert place. Wish the staff would have suggested the family bundle since we had more than 6 people come in together as to save us a few bucks as these are not cheap deserts individually. I love coming here, everything on the menu has been delicious, my only issue is the customer service is 50/50 whenever we come.. we usually love when there's this older gentleman working, he's always super inviting, friendly and very helpful ... however, tonight we got a younger girl who was closing I'm assuming, we got there at 7:50 and the sign on the door says they don't close till 8:30 so we planned to eat there, we get up to the counter and didn't really get greeted with a hello or how can I help you, just kind of stood there and looked at us until we were ready to order as she proceeded to ask us if we wanted out snow for there or to go, we told her for there but received our order to go anyways.... I'm assuming cause she was too lazy to do dishes, it's not a huge issue just pure annoying to ask and do whatever you want anyways, I waited to see the next family order to see if she'd do it to them too and sure enough they said for there and she put their whole order to go, like if washing 5 plates was going to set her back hours from getting off ?! read more

We ordered a classic milk tea light ice, 75% sweet ($6) and a green milk tea with boba, no ice and regular sweet ($6.50). We were surprised by the cost, since rhe menu prices ranged from $4.00-4.50 and must have been un-updated. The regular size is around 24oz large. Both of our drinks didnt taste like tea at all, mostly just sweetened water with a touch of powdered creamer. The boba pearls themselves were not bad, sweetened and chewy. The green milk tea had a strange off taste to it, and we ended up throwing it away after a few sips. The classic milk tea wasn't enjoyable but we were able to keep drinking it. Overall, definitely would not recommend this place for boba.

Among the highly rated ones that serve this dish were Creamy Delight & Juice Time but this place is the only one rated great (4 stars at least) in most varied dessert items they offer. Plus this place closed the latest at 11pm. Raspados El Diablito (which I believe means shaved ice) menu is super expansive. Not only did they have viral Dubai strawberries but also a huge Dubai crepe & the Dubai Bionico (has strawberries, banana & apples too) & I want to try them all. They have a plethora of snackies, too many to mention here. I highly advise to check out their menu, & yelp pix. They have a massive menu that includes: ice cream (including basics like pistacio, rocky road & mint chip), snow cones (like Tigers Blood & mango), protein shakes, tostilocos, angelitos, & raspados. Some snacks that really caught my eye are the bag of Cheetos with cheese on it, the Esquite Corn Cup which is just like it sounds & topped with lime. An extravagant looking & fun named dessert was Alien Juice which is a whole pineapple topped with slices of pineapple, a cute mini beach umbrella, and 2 straws. Another big dessert is the Sandia Loca which is a half of a watermelon carved out and filled with melon, cucumbers, strawberries & raisins. My other want-to-trys are the small Bionico (topped with strawberries, granola, coconut flakes and a sweet house cream), cake cone with pistacio ice cream, & maybe if I need an ultimate I-had-a-real-bad-day splurge I'll get a cotton candy crepe which looks like childhood joy to me. If I have just 1 debbie downer is that the small viral Dubai strawberry cup was a whopping $15. The larger size was $20. I was jaw dropped at the price to pay for sugar highs these days. But, I'd definitely come back, but not too often for this particular dish. Also, the location is a little sketch & I was checking my 6 as I walked to the metal-barred doors & windows. Big pluses are the workers are young, efficient, super helpful & friendly on the phone & in person.
