Visitor in town and what a great spot to grab delish soft sweet treats with the kiddos! Tried the halo halo and it didn't disappoint! Mung bean, jackfruit... Yum!

We got the Twix ice concoction and were pleasantly impressed. I've never had this style of dessert before and its light fluffiness was delicious. There were just enough toppings to make this sweet treat a new family favorite. I was also impressed by the kindness and attentiveness of the teenagers working behind the counter. On what was a noticeably slow night, they were playing cards together...a nice change from so many employees spending down time on their phone. We'll definitely be back for an after dinner treat and to try some of their other flavors.

Great Christmas feeling in florida! The shaved ice thing wasn't what I thought it was, it's shaved flavored ice. This is cutting edge (lol... food puns) food technology was a new adventure for me and my family. The service was friendly and very patient as we tried to figure out the large menu, it's not that big but there are a lot of options. And then explained whatever questions we had. Inside was cold and the ice machine is loud but it's fascinating to see them make this dense delicacy! Especially in the warm florida life. While we were there they had about 5 take out orders and another 3 groups of customers so it was jumping the entire time! Please check this place out for a very unique experience!

Need cooling off or just a yummy dessert in Sarasota/siesta key? You must try Vampire Penguins shaved ice dessert. I had the strawberry shortcake. They run a block of strawberry thru a shave I've machine to turn it into fluffy snow then they drizzled caramel and topped with graham cracker sprinkles strawberries and bananas. My family tried the orange dream and pina colada all were refreshing and delicious I preferred the strawberry

Nice presentation however , Tasted like the frost on the outside of a gallon of ice cream ... barely any toppings ( ordered peanut butter cup ) a few peanut chips and a drizzle of chocolate. Basically a pile of snow for $10 - waste of money .

Looking for something new and unique to try while vacationing Siesta Key? Vampire Penguin SRQ is your stop! Stumbled upon this gem and discovered a new favorite dessert. This shop serves what I consider a gourmet shaved ice. It tastes as if your eating the flavors of your favorite ice cream, but the texture is so light that you leave feeling like you ate air. Can't forget to comment on the creativity of the plating presentation! Customer service was very gracious and accommodating. I encourage you to give it a try!

With such an interesting name, I had to try this dessert shop. It's a tiny area, but with really wonderful haves ice treats. I've never had shaved iced this fancy so this was a unique experience, but definitely a pleasant one. The flavors were amazing while being fluffy and not too overpowering. Honestly a great spin on frozen treats, but do expect to pay a bit more than usual desserts. I would also say the overall energy of the place could be improved, but I still recommend it here!

Stopped in to check out what they had available. I knew it was a shaved ice place but the flavors they offer is so awesome'! I chose the Thai tea with whip cream. Yummy!

We enjoyed the vampire penguin in Naples prior to their closing so it was a nice surprise to see them in Sarasota. Same concept also good.

The moment you enter, you are embraced by a cascade of twinkling fairy lights that shimmer like stardust against a twilight sky. Fresh flowers bloom in every corner, their sweet fragrance mingling with the comforting aroma of steeping tea and freshly baked cakes. The menu is a delightful symphony of flavors, with each dish crafted as if by fairy hands. The tea sandwiches are dainty yet satisfying, their ingredients so fresh they seem to have been gathered from a mystical garden just moments before. The salads are vibrant and bursting with life, each leaf and garnish adding to the overall tapestry of flavors. And, of course, the cakes! The cakes are tiny works of art, each bite a burst of sweetness that leaves you floating on clouds of pure bliss. Even the soups, served in charming little teacups, are more than just a meal--they are comfort and warmth, a gentle embrace on a slow afternoon. Each spoonful is like a chapter in a story you never want to end. In this enchanting restaurant, you don't just dine--you dream. Every moment here feels like a stolen piece of a fairy tale, and you'll find yourself lingering, not wanting to break the spell. Whether you come alone to sip tea and read by the soft glow of the fairy lights or with friends to share laughter over a tray of delicate sandwiches, you'll leave with your heart a little lighter and your spirit a little brighter. To say that the owner of this enchanting establishment is just as magical as the place she's created would be an understatement. Kathryn is the heart and soul of this fairy-tale haven, a living embodiment of the kindness and beauty that fills every corner of her restaurant. Her presence is like a gentle breeze, warm and soothing, making everyone who walks through the door feel instantly at home. Her generosity is evident not just in the thoughtful touches that make each visit special--like the fresh flowers that greet you at every table or the extra care taken to ensure each dish is perfect--but in the way she treats each guest like an old friend. There's a sweetness in her smile that makes you feel as though you've known her for years, and a gentle warmth in her words that wraps around you like a comforting blanket. She moves with a quiet grace, always attentive, yet never intrusive. Whether she's offering a kind word, making sure your tea is just right, or sharing a delightful story, she does so with a lightness that leaves you feeling cherished and cared for. It's clear that this restaurant is more than just a business to her--it's a labor of love, a place where she pours her heart into every detail. In a world that often feels rushed and impersonal, the owner's presence is a reminder of the beauty of kindness and the power of a generous spirit. She has created not just a restaurant, but a sanctuary--a place where time slows down, and you can savor not just the food, but the warmth of human connection. To dine here is to be touched by her sweetness, and to leave with your heart a little fuller, your day a little brighter. Thank you, Kathryn, for creating such a beautiful safe haven for all who enter. As long as this establishment is standing, I will be there in attendance.

We were helped by someone I believe was named Julie or Julia (I'm not great with names), and we ended up chatting a bit because she used to live in New York too. She was so warm with the kids and let us sample just about every flavor, which made the whole experience feel really personal. The ice cream itself is fantastic--creative flavors, but also genuinely delicious. You can taste the homemade quality in every bite. I had coconut and dark chocolate, the kids had vanilla, dark chocolate, and watermelon mint, and my husband also really enjoyed his choices (though I can't remember exactly what he picked). Overall, it was just a really pleasant stop with great ice cream and exceptional service. It's also right next to Origin Pizza, which is another spot we'd definitely recommend.

Actually, just get there early anyway because the pastry items are fresher/better. There's indoor and outdoor seating. I typically skip trying to park next to it and just go to the garage and walk over. The service is more attentive than a typical French cafe overseas but not as on top of you as a typical place in the US. You can definitely order at the counter in French if you want to and I've had a waiter there flip between English, French, Spanish, and another language (maybe Romanian?) in one order. The sandwiches I've had were all lovely, and had a little side salad that could benefit from a better dressing (they serve an okay vinaigrette though). I've yet to encounter a single bad pastry - the elcairs, mousse cakes, and flaky pastries like chausson pommes are on par with the typical boulangerie/pattisserie in France and don't make me think US adaptation at all. Prices are reasonable.

I do feel like the portion and the quality is a little lacking for the price. That being said, I don't know that there are better French options in the area. I also got a palmier pastry and I should have gotten a croissant, the palmier tasted a little stale. The locale was adorable, with beautifully tiles tables really setting the scene. Overall, not terrible! Worthwhile if you're really feeling French.
